Bed was hard, room smelled funny, traffic was loud all night long. Other than that well....average at best.

I was a late arrival. When I called to confirm the late arrival, Joshua was very friendly. He assured me that there would be no issues with checking in late. When I arrived around 11, he was super friendly and I was checked in within 5 minutes. My room was exactly what I needed. I don't need frills just a comfortable and quiet place to sleep. The breakfast […] in the morning was a nice addition to the stay. My only "complaint" (I don't really consider it a complaint) is that I wish the dining area was a little larger. I will continue to stay here when I am in the area and will recommend it to anyone that asks. Great Job! Les mer

My boyfriend and I went to NW Indiana to visit the lakeshore before the weather got cold and visit the area I called hoe for 8 years. I knew the area where the hotel was well. I was very pleased with the servie, comfort, and cleanliness of the room and the hotel. I really believe that the room is overpriced, even with the hotes.com discount. There was […] another hotel where I had stayed once before down the same access road that was not lised on hotels.com and thier bilboard rate was $30 less per night for very similar accomodations. "Great Hotel"
This is a really nice hotel in a nice part of town, there are a lot of restaurants around and lots of things to walk around and see. The hotel staff was very nice, everything was clean and quiet. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to my friends.
I am impressed about the cleanliness and the comfort especially the bed. Room is cozy, like you are in your own place. Staff are friendly and accomodating.
"Noise and management does not manage, etc."
there was a great deal of noise in the room next to ours. Clearly they talked to them now and then as it would be quiet for a few minutes...but not until 4:40am with the night manager in the hallway did it stop and I suspect because the party finally crashed. When I mentioned it as did many others the response was a smile and "sorry". I would have offered […] something more. The breakfast is in a crowded little place, very little and not very good. Clean, clean, clean and the bed was great. I had a king bedroom and had plenty of room to move around. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was small but very clean. The free breakfast was the same as most free breakfast places. It was good. You want great; Bob Evans and Cracker Barrel are near by.

I was mainly disappointed by the room size and even smaller bath. It did not match the appearance of the on-line photos as to the size of the room. It was clean, just very small and not comfortable for two guests.

"Should have the 5 STAR rating!"
My husband and I had come to Merrilleville for a wedding. We decided to stay at the Fairfield Inn because of what we could see through the internet. The reviews were from other guest were everything they said this place was, and more. You walk into the lobby and it's very clean and inviting, guest sitting and chatting to each other. We went to our room […] and the pictures on the internet can not compare. Our room was very bright, clean, and fresh smelling. The linens were fresh, the bed was big and so comfy, the pillows were like placing your heads on clouds. There was a complaint that I had read from a previous customer about the bathroom having a corner sink, NOT the hotel's fault but it does add a unique design to the bathroom. Without the sink being built in this manner the bathroom would have have less space so someone was thinking about the design and comfort level of the guests. If you want a nice place to stay that won't break the wallet I think The Fairfield Inn is well worth it. Plus you get to make your own waffles in the morning. Les mer

This free brekkie goes above and beyond, featuring microwaveable Jimmy Dean sandwiches and breakfast quiches. The room was fine and service was great. Everything you need for a hotel stay without complications.

The hotel looked very nice online, but we were very disappointed in the size of the room and the bathroom. Our room was very clean, hallway wasn't as clean. Our bathroom was small and only had a corner sink with a small mirror above it. Breakfast was okay but they need another waffle maker and microwave. The line was so long to get anything hot to eat.. "Great place for an overnight stay"
I've stayed at several hotels in the area due to the fact that I grew up there and now my family lives in NW Indiana. This hotel was wonderful. It was over Thanksgiving weekend so the housekeeping staff was bare. However, the Operations Mgr was very friendly and said that if we needed anything, just call. The breakfast isn't the best ever but it works […] and hey, it's part of the package! As long as the prices stay right, I've found the hotel I will be staying at. Les mer

Beds were comfortable, room nice, clean. Complimentary breakfast was above average and very good. Breakfast eating area was very clean, attractive, and comfortable. Overall a good experience.

"Needs Improvements"
My wife & I stayed on 9-19-2009 for a wedding this weekend. The room was kind of outdated. The bathroom was very small, especially the countertop. The TV was very fuzzy & was quite smaller than other Marriott hotels. Our room was #225 which was right outside of the elevator. You could constantly here people coming & going. The breakfast left a lot to […] be desired so we jumped into our car & went to Bob Evans for breakfast. We also asked for a late checkout & we were told that they could not because the hotel was totally booked the night before. This is ridiculous! Les mer
