"Diamond in the ruff"
Love the location and amenities the Hotel had to offer.Very comfortable beds in the room.The standard room was very small and the shower seem to have a problem with water temp(went from hot to cold throughout shower).Disappointed that the room's window was NOT secured (locks broken).The rooms are in need of a bit of maintenance but besides these few […] issues the hotel is...... as I said "a diamond in the ruff". "NOTHING good besides the location"
Before staying at this hotel I read reviews, and the most common complaint was the size of the rooms and how out dated they were. Since my friend and I were staying only 1 night I thought how bad could it be? well it was bad there was maybe a 1 1/2 feet between everything in the room. The view I had from the window was a concrete wall about a foot from […] the window. As for the service it was not very welcoming! Even worse when we were leaving, I didnt even get asked how my stay was!! By far the worst first experience in Jasper, im not happy I spent that amount staying at this place! . Even though it is in a good location its really not worth it at all ,there are other hotels in the same location so spend a little bit extra and dont make the same mistake I did. Les mer

"Over Priced"
This is a very old hotel that needs updating. King room was too small. Commode and shower were in a closet. Desk staff was not very knowledgeable about anything outside the hotel. The wood floors felt soft, and a couple spots in the room, I felt like I would fall thru if I stood there very long.
"Good Hotel"
A good hotel in an excellent location in the centre of Jasper. Service was great and friendly, breakfast was delicious. Room wasn't huge or nice but was clean enough to not complain about it. "One word - tiny"
I did read all the other reviews saying this hotel was small, but I didn't think it would matter to me since small can also mean cozy. Well, rooms in Astoria are small and not really cozy. We have just had a lovely stay at this hotel. i won't lie the rooms are quite old fashioned, but who would want an ultra modern hotel whilst staying in a wonderul rural town like Jasper??? "Said to have internet access but in reality, no"
It's indicated on the booking web to have free Wi-Hi. But even after the help of the hotel person, there was still no internet access. The reception person just said that the router or server is down. They are not keen to provide good service at all. Stay away from this hotel.

King size room was 2 double beds pushed together seemed like. and no personal space with the king size room. found bathroom very small.

Was a well maintained, clean older hotel. The bathroom was a bit on the small side, but it served its purpose. I would reccomend this hotel and probably would stay there again.

We love the Astoria Hotel. The room are clean and comfortable and the hotel has a great location with good rates. The staff are friendly and helpfull. Loves the Pub and restaurant downstair whish is very convenient.

It is located on the main street and close the all shopping convience. We got the room w/ KS bed. Great for the ski bunny person being that the rooms are small, but really comfy. If needing quiet cozy and comfort then it works.

We had limited options for our late booking in Jasper between Christmas 2011 and New Year. We were a lttle hesitant about booking the Astoria but it turned out better than we expected. The room was very tight and the bathroom even more so, but it was clean and the bed comfortable and the location, in the main street of town was very good. We did however […] have a couple of issues - one being that the temperature in the room was very hot, even though it was mid winter, and we could find no way to lower it. The second was that when we came to check out we were informed that our $100 bond could not be cleared as the housekeeping staff had to check our room and they might not do this until 3.00pm. "Good Place to Stay"
I like this place. It is close to everything, has a good restaurant and is a fair price. The hot water was a bit sparse but otherwise it is all good.

not the ritz..but this spot is right downtown, walking distance to everywhere, free parking, great restaurant on the main floor, and a sports pub for the ski types.. all in all its ok and the price is right.

"furious disapointment"
During my stay on december. 4, the hotel staff claimed they found ashes from a cigarette in my shower, and neither I or my friend smoked. They tried pushing the smoking fine of 200 dollars on us, and after a 30 min. Argument, I managed to et it down to 100 dollars. I could not be more angry at this kenyving hotel staff. DO NOT STAY HERE

Location is great. It is near the Via & other amenities. The room given to me was super small. The shower was also super small. Thank God I had only 2 small duffel bags. Room though small, was comfortable as there was only me and my kid who enjoyed the cable channels on TV.

Astoria Hotel has great Location... but the rooms we got was very small, the air-conditioning was not working, washroom was extremely small as well. I booked it only for the location but Jasper is small town so it does not make any difference even if you book a mile away. We used this hotel after arriving in Jasper on the Rocky Mountaineer. The location was perfect as it was right across the road from the train station and also in the main street area so a wide variety of food outlets were close by. The only issue to note is that the room size is quite small. There were two doubles - not queen beds and not a lot of room […] around them but for two adults and two children as we were, we managed okay. Small wardrobe unusable as it contained suitcase stands, for which there was no space to erect! "The Astoria Hotel in Jasper"
First of all, the room we were given was as big as a closet. We are traveling for 5 weeks and have a lot of luggage. Therefore, in order to get all of our luggage in the room, we had to pay an additional $20.00/night for our 3 nights. The bathrooms are VERY small. The furniture is old. And worse, the carpet was all stained. I don't think it was ever […] cleaned. The staff was O.K. The location was good. But, they have no elevator. We had to carry all of our luggage to the second floor up and also down when we left. If I had known there was no elevator, I never would have made the reservation there. There were several nice looking hotels within a block or two from the Astoria. I would never recommend this hotel. Les mer
"Convenient location but mediocre stay"
This hotel was the most expensive on our 2-week trip. The location is very convenient - right on main street and close to shops and restaurants - but it's an old building and the room was tiny. I booked a room with a sofabed for the 3 of us and after we opened the sofabed, there was no room to walk around. The bathroom was tiny and nowhere to put stuff […] around the sink. We tried to get on the internet but it was impossible even though there were 6 WiFi accounts. I would not stay at this hotel again. Les mer
"Great Location"
This hotel is in a great location in Jasper. It has comfortable but small rooms which are a bit dated. The bathrooms here are very smal with the sinks being in the main room area. The rooms do not have a great view as they look out on the roof of the other section of hotel. The staff was very friendly and there are two popular dining options in the […] hotel itself. Parking is located accross the street in a public lot but we never had a problem finding a space. There is no elevator to the second floor. "Good location"
This hotel is located opposite the station for The Rockie Mountaineer. It is tired and in need of modernisation though it is clean. We objected to the deposit that the receptionist took in case we did any damage during our stay.

Overpriced . Said there would be two beds was one bed and a pull out couch. Not impressed!
We did not enjoy being right on the main street. The train went by every hour right through the night. The curtains were really shabby with holes i them and the hair dryer did not work
Excellent location of hotel, but could use a little sprucing up. It has a good restaraunt and wine bar downstairs.

I was here for 2 nights and found it comfortable but small. The rooms are clean but dated - I liked having the DVD player for the one night I stayed in. Great location right on the main street of Jasper and free parking in the lot across the street.

If you're sure you want to stay in Jasper, I guess the Astoria is acceptable. There were two senior couples in our party. The reading lamp shades in our room fell off when we tried to adjust the lamps and the other couple had to change rooms because of a ceiling leak. Our room charges were the highest we paid during our visit to Glacier, Canmore, Lake […] Louise, Jasper, Golden, and Columbia Falls. I expected better for that price. Les mer
