Mansion at Judges Hill - Austin

My wife and I took a weekend getaway and stayed here. This hotel is TOP-NOTCH. Highly Recommended.

This hotel was awesome. I loved that the "shuttle" was a Cadillac CTS they drove you around in. They aren't close to 6th street which was my destination at night so they took me and my friend to where we needed to go. They are also pet friendly, which was very hard to find. We had a 50 lb dog with us and most other highly rated hotels either didnt take […] them or had a 25-35 lb weight limit. They offered to take our bags and the limited parking that was available was very close to the side door of the hotel (where the parking garage is). They also allowed us a late check out of 1 pm without charging us extra. The staff was very helpful and friendly and the whole hotel was super clean. Les mer

This is a very nice, small property, but frankly is overpriced. We booked a Premier King Deluxe room, and I suppose that is what we got, but there was no CD or DVD player in the room, nor was there a coffee maker -- all amenities that are listed on hotels.com website!! Food ordered from room service was quite good and delivered quickly. Beds were comfortable […] with lots of pillows, but the bathroom accessories need to be replaced. Entire staff was courteous, friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay, but will likely stay elsewhere in the future due to the high cost for what you get -- have stayed in many truly luxurious hotels, and this one is not in that category. Les mer

This looks like a beautiful mansion from the outside, however from the sidewalk you can see how the mansion is just the face and the rest is an overpriced hotel. It is way overpriced for what you get. The beds are nice and the pillows are soft..... the room was small. The picture shows a tub, however all I had was a small shower. The shampoo and conditioners […] were fantastic, but it wasn't worth the high price tag. The hotel seems close to the university, but it's a long walk from the hotel to the main drag. The area seemed safe. I did find that the furniture seemed warn and should be replaced. I also think the hotel should really give more for your money. Les mer

The guest service is outstanding. The room was very nice, the bathtub was nice and deep. It is rare to find a hotel that provides a good bath experiance. The only downside was that the comforter on the bed was not very thick. I was a little cool.

Judges is an excellent hotel. The location is perfect if you are visiting UT and it is very comfortable. My only complaint was with the in room air control which was quite loud and very strong..

If your student is living on West Campus, this is an awesome place to stay for a visit. The hotel is charming and the employees are most hospitable! If you like to exercise, be sure to pick up a free pass to the Castle Hill Fitness club and go there. It is wonderful. I drove there, but you could certainly walk. It's about a mile away. Although from […] the outside, the hotel may not look like much, once inside it is charming! We enjoyed a quick breakfast there and found the dining room to be like a bed and breakfast. The Mansion is beautiful from the outside, but just mediocre from the inside. The rooms are spacious and clean, but lacked some essential necessities....we couldn't find an extra blanket anywhere and were forced to turn up the heat ...the room became stuffy ...but none of the windows opened...and if we did manage to open a window, we would have been […] serenaded by traffic and the sounds of guests entering and exiting the building. There's essentially no lobby (very odd layout - just weird) and the bar is small ....and shut down around 11:00pm both nights we were there. The kitchen also closed down very early! (And there's not much around the hotel as an alternative!) There's no coffee maker in the room, and the coffee they offered guests in the reception area (remember there's no lobby) tasted like water. The neighborhood is a busy boulevard with rundown buildings and a few food trucks. The saving grace was the hotel was clean, walking distance to campus (about one mile) and the young college men they hire to greet the guests and direct them to their destination are adorable, polite, and very helpful! Room was exceptional, on a par with the Driscoll in Austin orChateau Bourbon in New Orleans. A beautiful, quiet facility, friendly staff and quite accommodating-- no pun intended! Only downside of this hotel is the location. The neighbor hood looks a little rough, maybe it was the vacant house across from the parking garage that is covered with graffiti. I don't know, but it wasn't something that you see and say to yourself....boy that makes me feel good. The cookies at check in...the fact that I am mentioning cookies in this […] review should indicate that they were significant. They were great, make a pig of yourself and try all of them. I liked the hotel overall and would stay there again. I did have a problem with noise and had to change rooms at 11:30pm. Something intside the hotel, the HVAC units I would guess, were producing a low pitched noise/vibration that made the pictures in the room rattle against the walls and kept me awake - I don't think anyone sober could have slept through […] it. The place was great, clean, nice staff, eager to please! My only complaint was that the a/c was not ideal and it took some time to cool the room down. Other than that, GREAT STAY.

Excellent! Only "complaint" was room service dinner menu. Way too heavy and one should always be able to get an omelet, burger or entree salad stuff from lunch...refused to give me a side of veggies! Quite silly, don't you think? Love the staff!

- OKAY Location: This hotel is fairly close to the Capitol and the University; however I found it to be a little far from 6th street or South Congress District. - OVERPRICED: I think some “cheaper” hotels look a lot nicer than "Mansion at Judges Hill"! Maybe the good reviews come from people staying here for a wedding? The restaurant (the actual “mansion”) […] is a good looking structure for pictures and such. - NOISY: If you are planning a vacation to relax: STAY AWAY (especially if there is a wedding party staying). We had people across the hallway from us partying all night, shouting on the hallways, etc. Plus, you can hear people constantly coming up and down the stairs, flushing the toilet, yelling, etc. - DISTURBING VIEW: When my husband and I first arrived and looked out the window we were shocked by the UGLY VIEW (sneakers hanging from cables, multiple trash bags on the floor, graffiti, etc). On-line photos are great and expectations ran high. I booked on a Wednesday, the day to cancel was Friday, and they lowered the price by $60 on Sunday. Too late for me to benefit. I felt taken advantage of before I even checked-in. We were put in a "wing" which apparently means not the house or mansion. Our room was a very typical (albeit overpriced) […] hotel room with a view of a concrete and cedal plank fence literally 6 feet beyond the window. Parking was $15 for a small, tight garage and no valet. There were absolutely no amenties one would reasonably expect looking at the photos and paying the price. 2 chocolate cookies at turn-down and a newspaper in the morning. All-in-all, very disappointing. Perhaps a mansion room would live up to expectations. I would advise saving money and booking a hotel with a lot more for a lot less money. Les mer

Value for price received was unacceptable. I booked a 'north courtyard view king' and was put in a first floor room with a view of the alley and ghetto apartments next door complete with a graffiti-covered no parking sign. We arrived late in the evening and had not stopped on the way to have dinner. We ordered room service and to our surprise, unlike most hotel room service, the menu was unbelievable, not your typical salad and sandwich menu usually offered. I thought the room was very overpriced for it's size and amenities. I do not think we actually got the room we booked. It was a very noisy hotel and had very little peace and quiet while trying to rest and relax. You could hear all of the conversations in the hall while trying to rest.

Interesting old mansion converted to a hotel. Pretty well done but not great. Located away from the fun part of town and not quite worth the price but a good place to stay overall. A lovely place for a romantic getaway if you like charming hotels. Definitely not your run-of-the-mill sterile cookie cutter hotel room. We upgraded to a suite in the Historic portion of the Mansion. Very comfortable and it was very kind of the hotel to automatically upgrade us to a bigger suite just because it was available! However, there is a $15 parking fee for some reason. The front office let me know this as soon as I checked out instead of before or right when I checked in. I don't like mysterious charges or fees. I've had to continually […] check my credit card to ensure there are not any other mysterious fees. Because I felt cheated, (also w/ no apology for misunderstanding), I will not stay here next time I'm in Austin. Les mer

I was upgraded to the signature suite and was excited about staying in the original wing of the mansion. Bathroom was fully restored and beautiful! My favorite part were the patio doors that opened up onto a shared balcony which was perfect for pictures. I would definitely stay here again next time I'm in town.

We were in town for a wedding and needed rooms for Thursday and Friday. We were pleasantly surprised with upgrades upon check-in. Both of our rooms were lovely and we thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Mansion.

I stayed for 2 days. i was in town for a conference at the AT&T center. The room was fabulous. the pillows were oh so soft! clean, well kept. I would recommend it for any business traveller or for personal use. I will definitely use them for personal use next time i am in town.
