Holiday Inn - At the Pavilion - Myrtle Beach

Sometimes I get really nervous about booking hotels online. Thankfully I read through all of the reviews. I will start out by saying "thank you" to all the previous reviewers....they were right on with this one! We could have not gotten a better hotel or location! We have two teenagers and this hotel was right next to the Skywheel, other attractions […] & shopping. The hotel was clean, the staff were extremely helpful and friendly at all times of the day, buffet breakfast was good & well stocked, the room was very clean. If we go back to Myrtle Beach, we will definately be staying here!! Les mer

The room and hotel in general were great; however the reservation that was made was very misleading, we were told on the phone that it would be an ocean front room. When we arrived, we were booked in a side view room. While the accommodations were fine, the staff made no attempt to correct the issue and seemed quite bothered that we asked. ASKED FOR ROOM WITH OCEAN VIEW-COULD HARDLY SEE THE OCEAN. AIR CONTROL IN ROOM WAS POOR - STAYED VERY COLD EVEN IF TEMP TURNED DOWN. WATER PRESSURE WAS THAT OF A HOSE PIPE IN THE SHOWER. NO ELEVATOR-MADE LOADING AND UNLOADING VERY HARD AND TIMELY SINCE TROLLEY CART COULD NOT BE USED. PARKING WAS TOO FAR AWAY. ORANGE JUICE TASTED LIKE WATER ALONG WITH […] THE MILK. We really enjoyed our stay at the Holiday Inn at the Pavilion. Hotels.com got us a great room, high up over the ocean, at a great rate. Its central location made it easy to get to different attractions. The hotel had its own outdoor Beach Bar, and the hotel provided beach chairs for ocean-side relaxing. The beach itself was perfect: the ocean is clean […] and cold, and the sand runs for miles in either direction. There's not a lot of good eating near the hotel, but it seems to be great for kids. The hotel staff was very friendly, and there was plenty of parking. A very comfortable and inexpensive place to lay low for a few days and enjoy the sun. Les mer

Hotels.com stated this hotel had barbeque grills - the hotel does not have barbeque grills for guests to use. We had to throw out the hamburger meat we had brought with us. Ocean view room had a view of the ocean if you went onto the balcony and peeked your head out looking past all the other rooms. Not what I consider an Oceanview room. When the bald guy in the adjoining room leaned out over his balcony railing my ocean view was blocked by his smooth head. If I stay again I'll be reserving an oceanfront room. There is a difference.

It's an older hotel but great location right off the boardwalk and nice amount of pools for the kids to enjoy. They are doing a decent job keeping up with an older infrastructure.

We stayed at Holiday Inn Pavilion for two nights. Our first impression was that it was a nice enough place, if a bit aged. Our room was in the low-rise annex just north of the alleyway to the beach. Great location.. right on the beach, walking distance to lots of places. Unfortunately, we were disappointed by our hotel room. Now I'm a pretty easy-to-please […] person and I'm not into making confrontations, but money for beach trips doesn't come that easy to me and there's a certain minimum that I would expect from a hotel. One thing I consider essential is HOT water. I like to take a shower in the morning and the most I could get out of the room's bathroom was tepid at best. Since the hotel missed on this basic, fundamental element, I'm not able to recommend it to others. Additionally, there was a wall switch that electrocuted my wife (a minor shock). Finally, the overall condition of the room appeared to be old & somewhat neglected. My impression of the room would lead me to believe that the property's owners are using the hotel as a cash cow & not reinvesting any of their revenues back into building improvements. In time, this strategy is going to bite them in the backside. Les mer

I've stayed in better places for less money. A lot of updates are needed for what it cost. We couldn't sleep for the noise that continued all night.

We booked our hotel and the actual hotel was really nice but we were in the LR or low rise building next to the hotel. And that was not up to par. If your going to stay here get a tower room.

The staff was friendly and helpful. The free breakfast was good. The rooms were clean. I received a great deals on Hotels.com and would stay there again.

Hotel has about 5 pools, very helpful front desk and clean rooms.

The bathroom was terribly small and the room did not have a kitchen or kitchenette like Hotels.com said it did. Other than that, it was worth what we paid and it was in a great location. We would stay here again. Cont. breakfast was great, lots of variety.

Really enjoyed our stay. The staff was very helpful -- from check-in, to a maintenance request on the in-room safe, to the house keeping staff, help with internet access in the lobby, the breakfast area staff, to check-out. Very friendly - especially the maintenance guys. Only minor comment was that the carpet in the room felt a little funny, most likely […] from the salty ocean air. The room was very clean. First of all, this Holiday Inn is privately owned, so I asume it is not required to meet the standards of the Holiday Inn Chain. The hotel was just like any other hotel at the beach. When I think Holiday Inn I think a name brand that ensures quality. Unfortunately this was not the case with this hotel. When we first arrived I was amazed by how run […] down the place looked. I booked a one king-size bedroom, and they gave me full size double bedroom. When I went to complain, I was told, "Sorry that's all we have." The room was also on the first floor of the annex of the main building. It looked very run down. When I asked to switch rooms, I was told the only other rooms they had were "suite rooms" and that I would have to pay for the upgrade. So I get stuck in a room that I did not sign up for, on the bottom floor of an annex with a police officer patrolling because it just looked rough, and I am told that I have to pay additional money just to move to another room? Unfortunately it was real late at night and I had no choice but to pay a large fee for another room. I was told I would lose my money if I decided to leave the hotel because it was already paid for, so I had no choice. Overall terrible experience, would never go back, and will tell everyone else thinking of going there not to. Les mer

The hotel is located very close to Pier 14 which very nice and it is centrally located where there is a lot of gift shops, restaurants and other tourist attractions!!! The hotel staff were awesome and the room was very, very clean! I will definitely stay here again! I loved it and it is a great price for the location!!!
