A lovely hotel for either business or leisure. The breakfast wasnt really 4* quality - a bit basic, but adequate enough.

This was my fourth visit to the Amrath hotel. It suits my needs perfectly, being ideally located for both railway station and town centre. Many rooms overlook the canal, some with balconies. The hotel is next to a school, but the children go home in the afternoon and it's very quite. We had a great stay here and will definitely come back again.

Very easy to find hotel as on the main access road to the Alkmaar ring. Used secure hotel parking (at a 15E extra cost) as on-street parking nearby seemed a non starter. Hotel setting lovely as hotel overlooks a canal and is about 5 mins walk to the start of the old town. But then none of the access problems (narrow streets, pedestrian only zones) occur. […] Did not really use any hotel facilities as rate did not include breakfast an we ate out in the evening. But hotel staff at front desk gave good advice on restaurants and provided local map. Restaurants about 5 mins from hotel but liveliest bit is the central square about 10 mins walk from hotel. Hotel claims 4 star rating but it felt more like a 3 star. The lobby area is small with the hotel's restaurant and small bar situated in the lobby area and so not very attractive. Room clean and functional - ours also had balcony overlooking the canal (to front of hotel) but still very quiet (no road noise). Stay let down by a few faults. Hotel room had safe but it was not actually anchored to anything and so light enough for one person to lift and carry it off! Our balcony door was not locked as part of the room preparation and so we spent our stay with the room inadvertently open to access from the balcony. I also expect a hotel to provide little bottles of shampoo and small bars of soap but the hotel relies on a couple of wall mounted liquid soap dispensers. But would stay there again if in Alkmaar. I regularly stay at the Amrath Hotel since it offers all that I need for a relaxing break in Alkmaar. The hotel is ideally located between the railway station and shopping centre - no more than 10 minutes in either direction. The rooms are spacious, spotlessly clean and comfortable and I have always found the staff both friendly and helpful.

The cleanliness, comfort and location of this hotel was good. Only a short walk from main railway station. All staff we dealt with were excellent. There wern't any comfy seats to sit in the lounge, but the surroundings were practical. Traffic noise to the front was a bit of an issue, but didn't interupt our sleep. We chose this hotel because it was quite convenient for both the station and the town centre. It has a nice location on the bank of the canal, just a short walk from the pleasant historic town centre along the canal and over a footbridge.

The room we had was quite small compared to a similar priced hotel in Holland. We thought it'd be a bit larger as Alkmaar is a small city/town. Also, the hotel receptionist misinformed us about the public parking rates outside the hotel. The parking cost was actually about half of what he told us. I don't know if he did this so we'd pay much more for […] an overnight parking at the hotel's own parking facility. It was convenient though to walk to the centre. Les mer

The hotel is in a great location - very close to everything. Very good advice at the counter as to what to see and do. The only negative thing is the breakfast - EUR 15.00 very pricey. If you only want a coffee, you have to sit in a separate section than who you may be travelling with, if they want the breakfast. We appreciated the location of the hotel, within a 5 minute walk of the old town pedistrian area of Alkmaar and lots of restaurant choices. However, it is a difficult hotel to get to - it's one of those places that you can't get to from here. Lots of one way streets, and some construction, and canals. If you're driving, as we were touring, take a city […] map that encompasses the entire area; don't rely on the limited one on the website. There is parking which is why we chose this hotel. Hotel has only aircondition on fourth floor and some rooms on second floor have balconies, our room was on third! and was uncomfortably hot even with a fan that is why I am hesitating to recommend this hotel. All staff ,bar one where helpfull and friendly. It's a shame that it is allowed to smoke even on the "no smoking wing" often our room "reeked" […] of smoke, the hotel has smoking rooms Les mer

The hotel is conveniently located, being just 8 minutes walk from the station and 10 minutes from the town centre. I was given a balcony room overlooking the canal with a view of the nearby windmill. The bedroom was well equipped with minibar and tea/coffee tray. The spotlessly clean bathroom offered both shower and bath together with a generous supply […] of towels changed each day if required. The hotel serves breakfast ( a rather steep 15 euros ) but no other meals, though it does have a bar alongside Reception. My only negative comment concerns the TV service, since the only free English channel is BBC1 and there are quite a number of pay TV channels. For what I paid I was well pleased with both the accommodation and service and would safely recommend the Amrath for anyone considering a stay in the delightful city of Alkmaar. Les mer

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Amrath-Alkmaar. The staff was very helpful throughout our stay. The room was clean and comfortable. The only small negative we found was that there was no air-conditioning in our room. We requested a fan and promptly got one. The breakfast was excellent. Hadden hier eerder verbleven en toen beviel het goed. Helaas hadden we nu een slechte matras, wat een nagenoeg slapeloze nacht opleverde. Het ontbijt was zo schandalig duur (€15) dat we die maar ergens anders genuttig hebben. Dit is echter wel een trend bij veel hotels, geen ontbijt inbegrepen maar deze dan wel 15-20 euro laten kosten..

Location of this hotel was excellent for me because my friend I was visiting is living near by, that was the main reason I booked this hotel in the first place. Hotel was in Alkmaar's center so locetion was also good for shopping, train station wasn't too far away. +Hotel was very clean and nice ! + staff were kind. Lage des Hotels top, innerhalb von 10 Gehminuten ist man im Zentrum. Die Angestellten sind sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Für ein 4-Sterne-Hotel bemängle ich jedoch folgende Sachen: Sauberkeit ist nur oberflächlich, Safe für Wertsachen ist nicht festgemacht, kann einfach aus dem Schrank herausgehoben werden. Im einen Zimmer konnte man das Fenster […] nur kippen und nicht ganz öffnen, was aufgrund der enormen Hitze im Zimmer nicht zu ertragen war. Im zweiten Zimmer konnte man die Balkontüre nicht verriegeln und ein Zutritt via Balkon ins Zimmer ist leicht möglich. Zudem waren die Abflüsse im Badezimmer verstopft. Dies habe ich an der Rezeption gemeldet und es wäre spannend zu wissen, ob diese Mängel behoben werden. Les mer

Wir hatten ein schönes Zimmer mit Blick auf den Kanal. Zwischen Kanal und Hotel liegt allerdings eine Straße und der Lärm wird im Sommer bei geöffneter Balkontür sicher störend sein. Den positiven Gesamteindruck trübt eigentlich nur der alte Fernseher, ein Flat-TV wäre angebracht... Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis für die Übernachtung war ok, das Frühstück […] ist für 15 € eindeutig zu teuer. Das Hotel liegt sehr günstig, um zu Fuß die wunderschöne Innenstadt zu erkunden oder abends Restaurants zu besuchen. Les mer

Bodde en natt på Amrath Hotel Alkmaar vid genomresa. Funkade bra, inget att klaga på. Valde att parkera på gatan utanför hotellet över natten för 2 EUR istället för på hotellets parkering för 15 EUR. Vi åkte tidigt och provade därför inte frukosten.

1/ we hebben een nacht extra geboekt dus 29 april en 30 april maar dat woord een dubbele boeking. 2/ kom je in je kamer voor de tweede nacht is er niets in je kamer gedaan dus maar weer naar de receptie voor schoone handoeken. 3/ en nu maar afwachten wat voor rekening we krijgen twee of vier nachten

EEN PRIMA HOTEL voor ons doel, nl deelname aan de ARTFAIR ALKMAAR. Prettig dat er een besloten parkeerplaats bij was. Jammer alleen dat de Wifi uitbesteed was zodat de deskmanager ons niet kon helpen toen we een probleem hadden. Heerlijk ruim plaats voor alle toiletspullen in de badkamer. Er zijn hotels waar je je reisnecessaire wegens ruimtegebrek […] op de grond moet leggen. Ook werden de handdoeken tenminste niet weggehaald terwijl jij ze nog wilde gebruiken. Les mer

Het Amrath Hotel in Alkmaar is een prima hotel, toch waren er een aantal minpuntjes. Hoewel wij een niet roken kamer gereserveerd hadden, en kregen, was er op deze kamer door eerdere gasten flink gerookt. Een andere junior suite was niet beschikbaar. Housekeeping had dit waarschijnlijk ook gemerkt en de ramen /deuren flink opengezet waardoor de kamer […] steenkoud was. Het hotel kan er natuurlijk weinig aan doen als gasten zich niet aan de regels houden, maar waar men wel wat aan kan doen is aan het kapotte bedlampje en de putlucht op de badkamer. Les mer

Hotelpersonal freundlich, Service ok, Lage des Hotels für Besuche in der historischen Altstadt optimal. Ausflüge in die Dünenlandschaft von Egmond a. Zee sind mit dem Pkw gut und schnell erreichbar. Amsterdam ist von Alkmaar in knapp 40 Minuten mit dem Intercity-Train erreichbar. Der Bahnhof von Alkmaar liegt ca. 5 Gehminuten vom Hotel entfernt.

Alkmaar è una città caratteristica e piccolina nota per il mercato del formaggio (tutti i venerdì da Aprile a Settembre), e le due vie centrali sono ricchissime di negozi. L'hotel si trova a cinque minuti a piedi dal centro, in una zona tranquilla, e anche a cinque minuti a piedi dalla stazione. Le camere sono spaziose, ben curate come arredamento e […] molto pulite. Il personale è gentile (c'è anche una receptionist che è italiana). Per un quattro stelle poi, il rapporto qualità prezzo è ottimo, soprattutto se prenotato in promozione Expedia. Non posso dire della colazione, dato che ho prenotato solo la camera. Les mer
