The hotel De Las Letras is in a very convenient location and easy to get to from the airport by the airport bus or the metro with a few transfers. It is close to shopping areas and the main museums are all easy to walk to. The hotel entry on the Gran Via does not reflect the very nice style and design of the interior and rooms. The hotel is undergoing renovations to the exterior and was very hard to find despite being in such a central location - it was partly covered in scaffolding and bore no resemblance to the picture shown on the internet. We were looking for it with a native 'madrilena' friend and ended up abandoning the car and searching on foot - very frustrating! The […] location (once we eventually found it!!) was very central for walking to all the main tourist sights. The room was ok - not over large but adequate for a couple of nights. A minor annoyance - the lack of decent central lighting meant that you had to have the bathroom door open to use the light from there if you wished to do anything other than read in bed. A nice hotel overall but I would choose another one if I was in Madrid again. Les mer

The Hotel position is really good, but the hotel room was totally unconfortable: almost no light, and "moving" bed with small wheels that made me impossible to sleep, plus the absence of rolling shutters.

I loved staying at Las Letras on the Gran Via in Madrid. The location is good and for the price, the quality of the room cannot be beat. The room was spacious, the large King size bed was comfortable with down quilt and down pillows. The bathroom had two sinks and was beautifully modern with a heating towel rack. What a great hotel. We stayed here after doing a ton of research online and found this little gem. This hotel was even recommended to us by our Fodor's travel book. The location is unbelievable, and the rooms are extremely spacious, especially for Europe. We fell in love with the decor of the room and the hotel, which were painted red and adorned with […] french quotes. Right on Calle Gran Vie, is walking distance to all the plazas, the Royal Palace, and super close to the Chueca district with some great shopping! Also had the cutest little rooftop garden area with a great view of Madrid. Try the hotel restaurant too, it has a delicious selection of tapas. My only complaint about this room was the shower because there was hardly any water pressure and the temperature would randomly fluctuate from hot to warm. Other than that, the hotel was amazing. Would definitely recommend to anyone, and stay there again. Les mer

Amazing Hotel!! The location was perfect, right by the Metro and the Plaza Mayor and Museo del Prado. The staff is ok friendly, nothing out of the ordinary but the hotel is really nice, especially the upstairs lounge. I would definitely stay there again.

The hotel was ok - for the money, not bad. However, there is construction going on and the rooms were never cleaned before 3pm which was frustrating. One day my room was not cleaned at all. I would recommend waiting until the renovations are finished, then try it again.

This hotel was centrally located to all the sights. It was right next to a metro. Madrid is not too big so you can pretty much walk everywhere and this hotel was right in the middle of everything you would want to do. The only complaint I have is that our room smelled a little of mildew. Other than that, it was a very nice hotel. Excellent location on Via Grand short walk to the Metro stations and nearby great restaurants & plentiful of shopping! Perfect for a short weekend stay in Madrid!

The staffs were very helpful and pleasant. Good overall experience.

We are already booked to return at the end of our trip as well. It was a great location and the front staff desk were extremely friendly and helpful. Room was clean and hip.

Great hotel, nice and quiet in the best area of Madrid. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone wating to visit Madrid by foot. Unbeatable price / quality ratio .

This hotel is undergoing a major renovation, but is a very well located hotel in Madrid. The staff was absolutely outstanding....our major problem had to do with the fact that we were driving and they had no parking facilities.

Our stay at this hotel was very satisfactory in terms of location, comfort and service. We will return.

Location is very good. 1 min walk to Metro. You can also walk to major tourist spots. Room is a little bit dark but clean.

This is not a super-posh hotel if that is what you are looking for. It was stylish and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The style of the hotel is pretty unique. I found the room very comfortable. The bed was comfortable and there was a desk you could actually use and a very small sofa with ottoman that you could also actually use. […] I really enjoyed Madrid and certainly some of that is attributable to the hotel. The theme of books and letters really carries the day here. The hotel is very cozy and in a great location, but the rooms are also spacious. I forget what was written up one of the stairwells, but it was a really neat touch. Basically the whole hotel has a books and letters theme and if you appreciate literature, this is definitely the place for you. […] Great value and very near the big museums like the Prado and the Thyssen. This hotel is in a great spot for exploring the city and within walking distance of many tourist spots. Really good size room and bathroom and super design throughout. Grat bar/lounge area, open all day, as well as rooftop bar, the latter is quite small but worth a visit. Restaurant really good and varied menu - excellent tempura!

Great location, rooms, and staff, worth the money.

We loved this, and ended up going back at the end of our stay when our flight home was changed.

The De Las Letras is a fine hotel, located just a few steps from the Gran Via metro stop and near the historical sites and nightlife. Don't be fooled, however, by the somewhat grand looking picture of the building. The location was perfect. Pretty much equal distance from the major museums and the Plaza Mayor. The hotel itself was very clean with very spacious rooms. The only odd part was the bathroom mirror is so far away from the sink. Both me and my wife noted this odd design. Modern, chic, centrally located!

The lobby and reception are small and sparse so we didn't know what to expect when we rode up the elevator. However, our room was very nice with a small balcony on the Gran Via. The location is excellent.

We had 2 rooms for our stay becuase we travelled with 2 teens. The hotel is better suited for singles. The hotel seems to attract an artsy crowd, mostly gay and model types. The rooms, particularly the bathroom, has very bad lighting. The size of the rooms were fine and clean. Rooms facing The Grand Via are extremely noisy at night, one of the reasons […] I would avoid the area in the future. People screaming, alarms going off, etc. Finally the streets next to and behind the hotel were fully of undesirables. Les mer

We recently stayed at the De Las Letras H&R for three nights. The rooms are simple and well-designed. Bathroom was spacious and clean, outside of some water damage to the door frame. We slept extremely well in the comfortable not-too-hard, not-too-soft bed. Location on the Gran Via is tough to beat -- if you head out the hotel to the left, you cover […] Gran Via in about 15 minutes. To the right, you reach Madrid's top museums in about 15 minutes. We covered the city on foot and only used the Metro to come into the center from the airport. Noise might be an issue given the level of traffic on Gran Via. We were lucky and received a room toward the end of the corridor -- the balconies toward the end on each side are glassed in, which I'm sure helps to dampen the sound. We did not try the restaurant but we did spend some time every evening at the bar on the roof. Comfortable atmosphere as well as good service. When we did wander out, the best food we had was at the tapas restaurant right across the street. Les mer

Great location, close to the Chueca neighborhood with all its bars, restaurants, and shopping, and only a short walk to sights like the Prado and Plaza Mayor. ちょっと奮発しておしゃれなホテルを予約しましたが、あまりホテルを活用しきれませんでした。スパとジムは改修工事中。wifiはちょっと遅くてロビーでしか使えません。屋上に小さな開放的なバーがありましたが、うっかり行きそびれてしまいました。これは心残り。立地はとてもよくその反面、少しうるさくもありますが、全体的にみるとまぁいいかなという感じ。スペインのホテルは、シャンプーとかはあるけど、歯ブラシはほとんどないのでご注意を。買い物中心にグランビア・チェチュカを回ろうと思っている人にはお勧めです。サンミゲルまでは少しありますが、同じような市場がチェチュカのメトロのそばにあるのでそこで十分楽しめますよ。

goed hotel, super ligging, kwaliteit van de bedden was iets minder. Prijs/kwaliteitsverhouding: eerder aan de dure kant.

Otimo hotel, localizacao excelente, proximo ao grande centro de Madri, com a possibilidade de se fazer tudo andando, o que se economiza tempo e dinheiro. Nao existem pessoas para carregar tua mala, o que nada impede de vc mesmo carregar pois e muito proximo do elevador. Tem um lounge muito legal tambem. Quarto amplo, super agradavel.
