The hotel was very comfortable. The staff was very friendly, especially the waiters at the restaurant. The jamaican breakfast was delicious, a bit cold, but delicious nonetheless.

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our short stay at El Greco. We had more than enough space inside our hotel room as there was a room for my husband and I as well as one for our kids plus a kitchen, living and dining room as well as a patio. All the rooms had a beautiful ocean view. The beach is close by (about a 5-10 minute walk). It would have been […] great to not have to pay for the beach but it was fairly cheap to get in and the hotel has a pool facing the ocean. "El Greco is the Real Deal"
This is my second time staying at El Greco and i must say the hotel is fantastic. Abigail, Sue-Ann & Mr. White were all VERY accommodating. Staff is incredibly friendly, always available. We upgraded to the 2 bedroom suite and the rooms are MONSTROUS. Spacious suite of 2 floors(!), balcony, a view of the ocean. Really worth the upgrade from the single […] bedrooms. Proximity to the beach is literally 2 mins from the Hotel. The inclusive breakfast is fantastic. Proximity to the airport is ideal as it is literally a 10 min drive. You do not hear airplanes or pollution. Proximity to the Hip Strip is also very close. Cannot recommend this hotel enough. Les mer

i have stayed at el greco this make twice and both stays were excellent experiences. its clean, nice quiet enviroment, the food is excellent. clean rooms everyday.
"Just what you need"
El Greco is a great location for touring around Montego Bay. It's a short walk to the beach, but not on the main road. It has great views, nice, helpfull staff & the kitchenette is just what you need.

service was great , grounds well kept, staff well above norm, room staff did a wonderful job keeping the rooms cleaned. all small problems were taken care of within 2 hrs. gen mgr hibbert did a great job in making my stay the best ever , will go back soon. THANKS el greco .
"My El Greco Stay"
hotel is basic but comfortable. the view at breakfast was breathtaking! Ensure Simpson the cook is there.... he was wonderful!! being accross the road from the beach was great and easy access to get a taxi to the town was nice. for the price, it was ok.

We stayed one week at this government-owned hotel. What is positive: In general staff at the desk and maintenace people are charming. Competence of the staff at the desk is however unequal. Do not expect North American quality and do not expect high-end. But the price for what you are getting is reasonable. The location is great, close to the airport and close to Doctor Cove's Beach (with free entry to the beach provided by the El Greco). There is air conditioning and wi-fi (the connection is a bit flaky). There is a guest computer available […] in the office. There is a refrigerator and stove. There is a pool (no hot tub). Breakfast between 7:00 and 10:00 A.M. is included. The staff people are all helpful, nice, and friendly. We would stay at the El Greco again. Les mer
"El Greco - Never Again"
The Good: El Greco is in a great location - Doctors Cave beach and the 'hip strip' are only an elevator ride away (or a 'lift' as some folk call them). However because it is in an elevated location (about 25m) you get a wonderful view, less noise and a peaceful location. Breakfast is included - you are given a choice of 'american' (bacon and eggs) or […] Jamaican (ie fish or curry, vegetables and dumplings). Unless you are totally adverse to trying something new - I suggest trying the Jamaican. The Bad (and why I would never return): The rooms are worn and rust is visible - fridge rusty. Minimal kitchen utensils. Ants will no doubt make an appearance during your stay. The onsite drivers will consistently hassle you to go on overpriced tours. Progressively the drivers got more disgruntled when we did not take any tours. The staff do not have any care. I asked for a wake up call twice and twice I did not receive a wake up call. When I addressed this with the staff they laughed. On another occasion I asked for a towel (they do provide them) - the staff member said he had only one but would bring the other one down to the beach for me. I asked him if he was sure (because it takes time to go the beach) and he said yes he would bring it. He never showed up - no big problem for me but made me not believe a word they said. My husband got food poisoning from a meal had in the hotel restaurant. He ordered the fish and within half an hour of finishing dinner he was violently ill for the rest of the evening. It was awful. If I stayed in Montego Bay again I would pay a bit more money and stay somewhere better. Interestingly out of three hotels booked for this vacation (Negril, Montego Bay and Barbados) this one was the most expensive. On a side note when leaving the taxi driver mentioned that not many tourists stayed at El Greco - now I know why. Never again. Les mer

"El Greco Resort - Excellent location"
This hotel is in a perfect location -- close to the beach, as well as downtown Montego Bay which are both within walking distance. The furnishing in my room was a little old / dated, and I wish the kitchen had a microwave, but other than that, the room was fairly comfortable and convenient for the price point.

I like that the hotel is right across from the famous Doctor's Cave beach. It also has an easy commute to the airport. Our room had a kitchen, so we didn't have to go out for every single meal. Saved us a few bucks. The room was quite spacious, and it also had a separate living area. Some reviewers didn't like that there is no air condition in the living […] area, but that didn't bother us much. The hotel is up in the hill, so it does get a nice breeze, which helps. The only two minor inconveniences I had were the ants (I couldn't leave any food in the room), and sometimes I had to adjust the valve manually in the toilet tank, otherwise the water kept running and the tank never got filled up. The room was reasonably clean. Nothing major to complain about. Breakfast was nice. You could choose from American, or Jamaican breakfast. American breakfast was pretty standard (bacon, eggs, and toast). Jamaican breakfast was awesome. More varieties, and it was more like lunch. The main protein item never repeated for the entire week we were there (although we were not offered to have Jamaican on the first day. The server assumed that we were having American). If you are one of those people who feel weird having lunch food during breakfast (my bf is one of them), go for American. You would be safer. Les mer
We had a very good stay at El Greco. The rooms are very spacious. The breakfast isn't that great but the view from the dining area is spectacular with a birds eye view of Doctor's Cave Beach. It is far enough away from the hip strip to be quiet but a short walk from the elevator that takes you right to the strip. I was confident that the area inside […] the resort was safe with plenty of parking. It is a short (5 min./ $15US) cab ride to the airport. If we fly in to Montego Bay again this will very likely be our first and last place to stay. Les mer

"Decent hotel at a good location"
One of the front desk staff was not helpful and had an attitude about her when asked about the safe and hot water. Resort was clean and very close to Hip Strip. Free passes to Doctor's Cove beach was a bonus since it's a beautiful beach. The price for each night was well priced.

I have stayed at this hotel before and have never been disappointed as I have been this time. The hotel was not as clean as it was the first time I stayed. There was a beer bottle on the lawn on the way up to our room from the moment i checked in untill the moment i checked out. We had a leak in the bathroom and called to get it fixed no one ever came. […] U can see the stains on the pool walls as if it hadn't been cleaned. If your looking for somewhere to sleep its ok cheap and the room is clean. However there may have been bed bugs because me and my girls woke up with bites on our legs, large bites. Staff was friendly but the hotel was not as clean as it shoULD BE. Les mer

This was our second stay at El Greco. Since our first visit back in 2005, nothing much has changed. This apartment style resort is kept quite clean, but on the same note it would be good if management could do a little updating. Fixtures inside units are really dated. Only 1 air cond. unit is in the bedroom, which won't cool the kitchen/living room, […] have to keep ceiling fan going. The beds are comfortable. As far as the staff, everyone was friendly and helpful, as before. Breakfast includes Jamaican or American menu. American meant eggs cooked to your preference. But do try a side of Jamaican veggies. My husband and I enjoy the location of this resort because it's convenient to Hip-Strip and Doctor's Cave Beach area. We enjoy being among the locals, including eating jerk chicken from street vendors. We felt safe walking the strip, even at night down to The Pork Pit. Don't be alarmed by some of the locals approaching you on the Strip though; because they will. Just be kind and keep walking. So if you are not just stuck on luxury, you will be fine. Good places to eat include, Groovy Grouper, Bobsled Cafe, The Pork Pit, & Pelican Grill. Make sure you indulge in a Appleton Guava Daiquiri, jerk chicken from Groovy Grouper. Also, the ox-tail dish from Bobsled Cafe. Yummy!!! The same chef cooks for both restaurants. Hope this review gives you some insite. Don't just go by the 2-star. Les mer

"Passing through"
Ok hotel if you are passing through for one night. The room was clean but the furniture and fixtures were very dated. I would not reccomend for an extended stay. The front desk clerk was very pleasant as well as the house keeping staff.

"Above it all"
Away from hip-strip noise and hustlers, but with easy access by elevator to beach and strip. Not fancy, but clean. Good, hearty breakfast that came quickly. (Especially by Jamaican standards).
I was impressed with the service I received at the hotel. I was given daily service by housekeeping.I think there should be a microwave placed in the room for warming food items.

The staff was not friendly, except for the porter. They didn't even say 'welcome or hello or kiss my foot' at the desk. It just seemed to be such an effort for them to check us in. We requested a wake up call because they didn't have a clock in the room and that was timely...they even called 30 minutes later to see if we were up. The desk told us it […] would be $15 for a taxi in the morning (that is what it cost us to go to the hotel), but after our luggage was loaded the cab driver insisted it would be $20. As for the room, it was roomy, but it was too hot for us. The a/c was turned on after we checked into the room...it was only in the bedroom which is ok, but it didn't cool down even with the door closed. The porter plugged in the refridgerator in the kitchen and that created a lot of heat in the living area. We didn't enjoy having to wear a bracelet like you get when you are going to a concert, but I guess they need that for security. The bracelet has sharp edges that wreck havoc with my thin skin. Needless to say we will not be staying in Montego Bay at a hotel again...we will only stay at the resorts where they cater to the customer and have COOL a/c. Les mer

Hotel is convenient to the airport if you want a place to stay overnight for convenience, but wouldn't recommend it for a pleasurable stay. We stayed in two different rooms, and they didn't have keys for the safe in either room. The pillows were hard as a brick, and the A/C would only cool the bedroom--you didn't have any A/C in the kitchen/living room […] area. Needless to say they forgot to mentioned that air condition was just in the BEDROOM. I was very angry because it was my husbands and, I 20th Anniversary. "Great value & location."
Staff is very friendly. Thery were all kind and always smiling; The hotel is located very close to the beach. Is about a 3-4 minute ride from Montego Bay's airport. To go to the beach. you have to take the elevator down 14 floors to Gloucester Ave (with plenty of shops, bars and restaurants). Then the entrance to Doctor Cave's beach is just across the […] road. Breakfast is included and so was the entrance to the beach (otherwise is $5.00 pp)! So that adds to the value. Rooms were ok, simple but clean. Les mer

The El Grecco Resort in Montego Bay is an excellent choice for the family or single traveler. The resort has good security with a central location to the "Hip Strip" in Montego Bay. Cabs and Tour buses are available on the property and the views of the bay from the pool and restaurant are the best in the city.
