our stay was just okay. We were in the annex building and as there were few guests, it was really quiet. The room seemed it was under renovation because the shower ceiling was being spackled/textured at the time. Quiet, yes. Okay stay, yes. Next time, we'll have a room in the main building.

This was probably the least expensive of the 8-10 hotels at this end of Monterey Street. It's a great neighborhood that I've stayed in before, so I was happy to find an inexpensive hotel room in the area. The service was great and the free breakfast perfectly adequate. Fortunately, it was mid-week and the hotel wasn't too busy, because there is no […] sound insulation in the building - not only can you hear the TV next door, but you can hear pretty much every sound your neighbor makes. It worked out fine for me - I was on a business trip and so tired every night that I was able to ignore the noise. I think for a vacation trip that I would probably look for someplace better. I was disappointed with our stay. My wife needed a hair dryer- the room was suppose to supply one. When I asked desk for one he said he would get one. Never showed up. The towels were shredded and thin - the suite was tiny- toliet was screwed up.

We chose this hotel for the price and location. It was clean enough and the price was very good compared to the surrounding hotels. We arrived late and left early so it served it's purpose and price point well for us.

Hotel management seems to be letting the facility go down hill as there was chipped paint, frayed towels, broken tiles, and marks on painted walls and doors. So it is gradually becoming a run down hotel. I also paid for an extra large Queen room and if the room had been any smaller you could only get in 1 double bed - so perhaps I did not receive what […] I paid for. Room was large and very clean, bathroom amenities were great and looked new, no problem with H20, like in some hotels I've stayed in. Breakfast had decent variety of choices, only the eggs were dried up. I would stay there again.

the water main broke and we were not notified, so no hot water. There were three of us in the room and only 2 hand towels, and no extra t.p!!

The room was not to a standard mid-range price. Carpet had stains and mold all over the grout and walls inside the bathroom. It was do-able for the one night, however will think twice next time im in town.

Unclean smells avoid at all costs this place is 10 years past a re-fitt

Not a bad motel. The only poor aspect of this inexpensive motel was the cleanliness of the breakfast area. Very close to downtown, Mission SLO and Cal Poly campus.

This hotel was very convenient to Cal Poly and the staff was very helpful. The breakfast wasn't gourmet but I didn't expect that given the price. For our short stay this hotel was a great value.

We stayed in the separate wing on the side of the hotel and had a good night's sleep. I liked the effort they have made to make the exterior look better than average Motel - nice flower arrangements and almost a Med feel in this cute town. The room I was in has not been updated since the 60's. It was clean but they need to update their rooms.

This room was not even up to par with a Motel 6.

Nice place. Pool ice cold! Needs some sprucing up on the grounds and rooms, but clean and neat. Near the main part of town.

We were in town to visit Cal Poly and booked at the Comfort Inn and Suites Lamplighter, just off the 101, conveniently close to the school and to downtown San Luis. It was very nice lodging for a good price. We paid more than twice that amount at the Madonna Inn on our last trip and didn't even sleep as well. The most important things for us are a comfortable […] bed and a quiet room. This place scored high on both counts. They offered other conveniences like a mini refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker with supplies and iron/ironing board, even an in-room safe. We seldom see all that in pricier hotels without extra charges. The only negative was that the room was on the small side, but we weren't there most of the time except to sleep so it didn't bother us. One of the best things is their continental breakfast that's included. Not your usual pastry, cold cereal and drinks. They offered hot foods like scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage and fresh waffles. And you aren't squeezed into a little room that was converted from a storage area. It was in a good sized room to seat at least 25-30 people comfortably. Would definitely stay there again. Les mer

The first room had a strong mildew odor and was quite small. The second room had a shower that wasn't fit for an adult size person. The third room was newer but the plastic shower curtain would cling to you. The toilet seat was severely damaged. I can't recommend this hotel to anyone.

We arrived late in the afternoon. We were told that we were 'upgraded' to a deluxe room which meant we were to get a room in the main building. We went to the third floor and found our room. It looked out to an adjoining room. The configuration was a U shape, and we were in the corner of the U.... not much view. The room was clean and well equipped. […] We enjoyed our stay and would stay there again,. The continental breakfast was 'usual'. When I went to get coffee, it was almost out. The lady after me had to go to the front desk to ask for more coffee. The attention to the breakfast was less than adequate. Les mer

Staff was polite and helpful. The room was clean. Breakfast included sausage, scrambled eggs and make your own waffles as well as toast etc. My only complaint was that the eggs were inedible, over cooked and left out too long. Other than that I was happy with everything. I would stay there again.

Not a bad placed to stay, but thought the hotel would be a lot nicer for the price. Walls are thin and you can hear conversations of people in the next room and you can hear everyone walking near by. We thought we would be getting a much nicer place to stay for the money we paid, especially since we could have gotten something similar across the street […] for 1/2 the price at El Pueblo (or something like that). They did have a pool that we did not use. They also have a typical continental breakfast. Bottom line. A typical 1-1/2 to 2 star hotel, but with prices greater than the surrounding hotels of equal caliber. Les mer

There was only one person working at the desk despite it being peak check in times, so it took a little while to check in. The main Comfort Inn building was nice and looked well maintained, but the building where we stayed was old and run down. It doesn't say it when you book this hotel, but there is another building across the street that is part of […] Comfort Inn. That building was in definite need of work. The room had old mildew smelling carpet, there was mold in the bathroom and refrigerators, there was no microwave, the bed was uncomfortable and the pillows were a joke! We ended up buying pillows at a local store! The towels were thin, you're better off bringing your own towels too. And there is a charge to use the in room safe. The only good thing was their free continental breakfast. Other than that, would not recommend or stay here again. Les mer
