Get hotel to retreat from helping son pack up College life. Wish I would have known there were no towels in pool area, next time I will check before jumping in.

By far the best hotel in town. They have tons of room for parking with snowmobile trailers. Nice view on the water over looking the town. The travel lodge in town was horrible in comparisson. Their trailer parking was 3 blocks away under an old bridge. It was terrible. I'll be staying at the super 8 every time from now on. 10 out of 10.

The only complaint that I had was the multiple trips that each of us had to make throughout our stay to the front desk because our Keys failed to work. Also the fact that they knew that the rear entry close to our vehicles with trailers and snowmobiles seldom worked ,forcing us to walk around building to front (rather unhandy at 4 below zero without […] a coat when you just made a quick trip to a vehicle) Les mer

Very convient for parent of MTU student. Breakfast is a plus. The bed ; however, was not comfortable. I woke with pain in my back. This time the it was more expensive to stay here and out of line with quality of the motel.

Close to downtown and Very clean room and hotel. Very Comfortable. Peaceful sleep. Great breakfast. Polite desk help. Close to Michigan Technologicl University. We would stay here again.

Centrally located in Houghton and very close to MTU. Hotel has basic amenities, but was clean and the staff was friendly and accommodating. I would stay there.

Very clean, quiet and comfortable. The free breakfast had a very reasonable selection of oatmeal, cold cereal, juice, fruit, yogurt, hard boiled egg, coffee, tea, milk, toast, cinnamon roll, fresh waffle. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. I would definately stay here again. This is usually where I stay when i come to Houghton...not as many […] frills as Holiday or Country Inn, but it gets the job done at a much more affordable price. Bed was comfortable. Pillows could have been better. TV was older model. Bathroom was clean. Heater/AC was very noisy.

Super 8's are not known to be the best quality hotels out there, but this one exceeded our expectations. Our room was clean, the staff was friendly, the breakfast was a little sparce but more than adequate and the waterfront location was wonderful. Very close to the MTU main campus. If traveling to Houghton, I would recommend this hotel and would stay […] there again. Les mer

The hotel location is fantastic for the price . the view is fantastic. lakeside benches offer a peaceful and relaxing ambience, perfect for a quiet, destressing , calming impact.

Our room had a beautiful view of Portage Lake, and overall the property was clean and attractive with a friendly, helpful staff. A lovely shore walk runs right alongside the hotel that makes for a short pleasant walk into town. Was a little disappointed with the housekeeping staff, though. A little difficult to find as the street is narrow between 2 frat houses of Michigan Tech. But the setting couldn't be better: on the water with walking path to downtown and great view of bridge between Houghton and Hancock. Who knew the Dee Stadium on this path is the Birthplace of professional hockey in 1902!

We were delighted with our three night stay at the Super 8 in Houghton. It was much nicer than we had expected with a two star rating. It had everything that a three and some four star rated hotels have except for no microwave or fridge. We will be back!

Stay was great. Love sitting on the deck or the piers behind the motel, so peaceful. Only wish the breakfast lasted until 11 as I am used to central time.

We booked a night's stay here before taking the Ranger III to Isle Royale. The hotel is very convenient to the NPS ferry dock. I appreciated the early start time for breakfast as we had to get an early start the morning of our departure. My only complaint is that the room smelled a little smoky or musty. We had stayed in two different Super 8's the previous two nights, one terrible and one so-so and were very concerned as we had four nights booked here. What a difference! Very pleasant room, great view, outside picnic area, nice pool and whirlpool. The breakfast was a plus with a variety of choices including fresh waffles and the dining area included […] the pretty view. The staff gave us some good tips on local restaurants. This Super 8 was totally no smoking and that makes a big difference in not having to deal with intrusive smoke odor. (I think most Super 8's allow smoking in some rooms--it still filters into the hotel) The ice machines were slow dispensing ice, but a small downside. It would have been nice to have the option of a frig in the room. And, for handicapped or older travelers, a ground floor room should be requested as there is no elevator. All in all, this hotel is a very good value and we would definitely stay there again. Les mer

Nice hotel, reasonably priced, right on the water with outdoor patios, good free breakfast and located on a scenic walking trail. Close to downtown Houghton...easy walking distance to Joey's Seafood & Grill (great food at reasonable prices) and the Keweenaw Brewing Company.......wide variety of homebrewed beers.

The check in process was non existant thanks to Hotel.com. The beds were hard and the the room needed some touch up cleaning, the remote control didn't work but both were taken care of promptly. The staff was knowledgeable about the surrounding area and willing to offer suggestions.

Rooms were clean and the hotel was pretty nice for the price. Loved the lakeside location. It was a little hard to find. I would stay there again if I was in the area.

Don't expect deluxe accommodations, it is Houghton. But I would stay there again.

Enjoyed a 2-night stay with daughter & grandson. Very clean with a great breakfast & wonderful swimming pool.

This hotel is right down on the water. The decks out the back are a nice place to sit and relax in the afternoon. The rooms were clean and the hotel staff were friendly and helpful.

We stayed in a lakefront room--beautiful view, nice breeze through the screen window. Very comfortable beds and pillows, no odors in room. Carpet and bathroom floor were clean. Nicely maintained. Odd design though--the light switch for the bathroom is OUTSIDE the bathroom door. So everyone in the room is disturbed by the bright light when you have to […] flip the switch on the outside wall and then close the door. Fan doesn't stay on (cycles on and off# which disturbs light sleepers. #That's why we opened the window.) These are small issues--we would definitely stay again! Les mer

I understand that Super 8 hotels are not Marriott's, but the carpeting in our room was very, very dirty with many spots. It only lead me to wonder how clean the rest of the room was.

location was difficult but beautiful on one side facing hills and water. Beds were uncomfortable and so were the pillows. Hard to understand the attendent at counter.
