"Venninnetur!

"Aston Apartments - enkelt, men hyggelig!"
Vi bodde her i mars, og off season. Jeg vil helt klart booke her igjen!

Veldig lite bad. Gode senger. Grei beliggenhet i forhold til transport..
"Lite men praktisk for korttidsreisende"

"Quiet hotel near tube"
Review from a single traveller. Be advised that there is no 24hr reception. Reception is only open between 8:00 and 21:00. You'll get a key that you have to pay a £50 deposit for. Which you of course will get back upon checkout. In the reception there is also a pc with free internet access! Room is very basic but has a very neat kitchenette which […] includes a microwave, refrigerator, coffee/tea maker and cookware/dishes/utensils. Bathroom is very tiny but that is very common in London. Room also has a heater that makes it very easy to regulate which temperature you desire. Room was also very clean. I was very lucky to get a room in the top floor The area this hotel is situated in is great with lots of eateries and a 24hr grocery store only a 4-5 minute walk away. It is also a huge advantage that it is only a short walk from the tube. Les mer
"Not a 3* hotel, but 1*..."
Had a trippel studio, the "bathroom" was dirty and tiniest bath a ever been in. Would not recommend this aprtment hotel to anyone
"Lite bad"
"Good location; small family rooms"
Great location; close to the tube. Nice and quiet neighborhood. Very friendly and serviceoriented staff. Stayed in family apartment; four persons - two adults, two teenagers. The room was smaller than anticipated and we were a little disappointed to get a room on a lower ground floor.
"Perfectly fine studio apartment"
As expected. The room was quite small and basic, but clean and nice. Very good location, close to Gloucester Road tube station.

"Basic but conveniently located"
If you are seeking a great location then look no further. If you are looking for anything more, or if you are going to do spend a few waking hours in your room, then you might check your expectations carefully. Astons offers bare minimum for the price, but is clean, quiet, and safe. The rooms are very small. Then add a tiny bath/toilet unit, kitchenette, […] and a table and there is barely room for a suitcase. The phone and TV unit did not work properly, but the reception desk were generally responsive to calls for assistance (no reception after 9pm). Room and shower temperature is difficult to control, which could be problematic if traveling in winter/spring months (no additonal blankets provided). There is no iron provided in the room. If you are going to be out early and back to sleep only, the hotel is good value for London Les mer
"Value for Money!"
I got a special discount (30% off) at hotels.com for a triple studio in mid-March and it was great value of money! We were assigned a larger room on the ground floor. The room was generally clean and cozy. Although it was close to a road, the traffic noise was minimal and did not bother us. The reception was friendly and kind to help. The only downside […] was the bathroom - it was clean but very small, only equipped with a tiny sink with separate hot and cold water taps, a small shower area (even by the standard of a typical Asian woman size) and a small shower head which could not be detached. But considering the price, it was acceptable to me. So, if you can get a special deal like me, I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone! Les mer
"Astons Apartments"
We booked online and being a family of 5 were looking for a place that was in Kensington, had cooking facilities, and was handy to the Tube. Astons came up as the best value we could find where we could all be together. We got an Executive Suite and were a bit anxious as some other reviews were quite negative. However with the twin beds, a fold out […] couch double bed and a roll-away single we were snug but fine in the one room. The small separate kitchen was adequate. Service was good, they even did the dishes for us, and it was like having our own place, quite an experience in London. During our stay they upgraded the TV to a 42 inch flat screen that really made the room better. We had 9 days of sunny weather that also made it great too. So not fancy, but clean and very much like being a local. Location is excellent! Also Wifi was good value and we could run all our gadgets on it for the same price. That's great when visiting London so you can look stuff up and plan your day out. We enjoyed staying here! Les mer
"Astons Apartments- "A Gem""
I just returned from spending eight days at the Astons with my teenage daughter. We thought this was a great hotel and loved the location. It took less than five minutes to walk to the Gloucester Rd. tube station (on a direct line to Heathrow), grocery stores, and resturants. Our room was very small by US standards, but was comfortable and clean. We […] were able to prepare many of our meals in the tiny kitchen. The staff at the front desk was extremely helpful. We will certainly stay at the Astons if we are in London again. Les mer
Very nice central placed hotel, near to the tube station. Hotel stuff were very helpful to provide everything I asked as: an adaptor or extra reading lamp. Kind and helpfull stuff, Daniel is just darling. The kitchen was fully equipted, it was very nice.
"Hotels in London"
If you are used to travel within US - hotel rooms in London are shockingly small (of course - considering the price you pay) This one (hotel) offers very inexpensive rooms - and in a single room, a bed was large enough to perhaps even fit 2 skinny people (a compliment). Bathroom was clean and functional (except for 2 separate tap water facets with hot […] water uncomfortably hot) - and it did have a toilet, a sink and a shower - all within ~3x3 ft plastic box squeezed into what probably used to be a room of some large 1800 Victorian apartment. There was a kitchen, with a sink, an electric stove, a microwave, a refrigerator and even a dishwasher - all cleverly squeezed into about 2x4 ft closet. Or yes - it had reasonably large (to be functional) table - I was actually able to put my laptop on - and this is not a sarcasm - just language consistent with description of typical London/UK hotel room... and it had a 23" LCD TV on a wall with reasonable number of channels. So this ~5x8 feet room actually had everything necessary for one-person stand for several days. On a more optimistic side - it had a separate entrance, you could come and go as if you rented a real apartment. 5 min walk from 2 underground stations, in a very nice neighborhood. Les mer

"Great Location"
Don't compare this rooms with a 3 star room here in the states. The space is very limited, but the room was very clean and the staff was very helpful (they even let us borrow an outlet adapter for our computer). "average stay"
The apartment is near tube station, with eateries and supermarkets around the area. Relatively convenient. Apartment exterior and common area look authentic and interesting. Kitchenette in the room is a plus point with water boilers, pots, cups and flatwares provided. Down side is the condition of the room is relatively old especially the duvan beds, […] the bottom tier has torn covers..bed sheets comes off easily and it seems to have narrower width than normal width of a single bed. Mattresses are rather old and uncomfortable. Bathroom is too small, with a too small wash basin. The interesting part of the wash basin is they have two separate taps on each side, hot and cold..not like a mixer..u either get very hot or very cold water, which is lack of functionality. The drainage at the shower area is very very slow, which we always have to live with a very wet bathroom all over the floor. Staff are generally nice and friendly, but I expect on the day of checking out, they would enquire about my satisfaction of my stay instead of me commenting voluntarily. Also while giving feedback, the attitude was a little less than enthusiatic. Lastly, we had huge problem regarding the extra roll away bed which we paid for. The supporting sub-frame of the roll away bed comes off so easily with just a turn of the body or by just sitting on it which made your resting extremely uncomfortable. I would expect a goodwill discount upon reflecting such problem during check-out, but staff just merely noted it down unapologetically. Les mer
"Well worth the money"
I booked this hotel purely for it's location with respect to the Royal Albert Hall. It's a 20 minute walk away and in a very nice location. If you're there for tourism then pretty much everything you may need to see is within an hours walk, with bus routes and taxis all over the area. Everyone in the area is also very pleasant, which is an added bonus. The […] hotel staff were all very polite and extremely helpful when I had a problem (I forgot my bank card in my rush to get to the train station that morning!). The room was exceptionally clean, fresh and a good size. The shower/toilet is a small closed off space in the room, and whilst small it was more than adequate. I image you'd have a problem with that only if you were over 6 foot or are obese! The noise from the road is very low, even with people coming and going, despite my visit being during the busy season, mainly due to the fact it's not near any major busy night life spots, although they are within walking distance. I think I spoke to everyone that worked at the hotel at one point or another, and everyone was really nice and helpful as I mentioned earlier. The rooms have an A4 sized folder with all the information you could need, with recommended restaurants, etc for eating out. There was a fan in the room too, as it was extremely humid and hot during my stay in London. The local taxi drivers were all very polite and at the time of my visit, a taxi from/to Euston station was well under £20. There are websites out there for you to check the current rates, which are accurate within a couple of pound. I definitely recommend this hotel to anyone, and will definitely be booking with them the next time I am in London. Les mer
"Cold reception"
There was no hot water, in spite of requesting for it. We had to take cold showers or stay dirty. No lifts or escalators in the building. We had to carry our baggage up the staircase. We will never stay here again or recommend it to anyone.
"Beautiful Kensington Neighborhood"
We stayed 3 nights over a weekend in the family room of the main building. We had a large room with large bathroom(for English hotel) and kitchenette and dining table. We had our own entrance which was very nice. Our room had twin beds pushed together, a queen sized sofa bed-comfortable for only 1 and there was also a cot. We made the mistake of letting […] my daughter sleep on the floor on the sofa cushions instead of setting up extra cot and she got bit up by bedbugs. No one else had any bedbug problems. We loved the neighborhood which was a real London neighborhood, not touristy area. It's 2 blocks off of a main street with lots of shops and restaurants and 2/3 blocks from tube. It was a great location and a lot of room for the price. We loved having a kitchenette. We didn't do any cooking but it was nice (as well as cheaper) to have drinks, breakfast stuff and fruit and snacks at the hotel. There was grocery store just outside of tube station that does rotisserie chicken, fresh bread, and raw veggies and we made a good meal out of that our last night there. We would definitely stay there again. Les mer
very good location, very nice and helpful staff, a triple room is a bit small, the kitchennet is old and bit and ruined!!!.. but if you do not use it ... that's fine... over all it is nice and very conveniently situated....
"great spot in london"
nice hotel in a nice spot in london, booked last minute. hotel is not too far from heathrow and not too far on the tube from central london. was asked for a 50 pound deposit incase the key was lost which i thought was a bit odd. no lift in hotel so had to drag bags up 3 odd flights of stairs but no biggie. room was fine, tv was a bit old, bathroom […] was tiny, sh1t shower and shave all in one. grand stay for one night Les mer
"Astons Hotel at SW, London"
This hotel is pricey compared to the small size of the room and location. There is a kitchentte, no kitchen as such. Recommended for 1 or 2 days stay only for a single person in case you don't find anything better. Room is very small for family or especially family with Kid.
"Astons Apartments 7/10"
The hotel was good but the bed was not so fine...little gap in the middle... The standard room was fine, quite little but book it for one night...not more...!!! You can take it...!!!!
"Aston Apartments"
Good location for museums and easy access to west city. Useful for small groups of independent travellers (modest catering facilties, shower, 3 single beds in room). Felt spartan and expensive for 1 for the level of facilities provided. I'd be unlikely to use again but could understand the appeal in the right circumstances
"Astons Hotel fell short of expectations"
Although the location was excellent and staff courteous, the room was not as I had expected from the pictures on line. This was my second visit - the first time I was not satisfied, but gave the hotel a second chance as they had been undergoing some construction.

"Astons Apartment - Great location affordably"
No unpleasant surprises if you have right expectations: tiny room and bathroom, no elevator, - but that is normal for most London hotels. So choose the place for location, decent condition of rooms and good price. Will definitely stay again for similar special deal rate (not sure about the normal rate)!
"Aston Apartment. Convenience at a fair price"
This aparment building is in a nice, quiet neigborhood just west of Knightsbridge, and only a couple blocks from a tube station. There are restaurants, supermarket, and other services close by. Do not expect a ful service hotel, the single woman in the office had no information about where to park our rental car other than to recommend a nearby hotel […] car park. Still, it was a good location, clean, and a good price I thought. I would recommend it. Les mer

"Aston Apartments -- more of a bed-sit than a hotel"
Other reviews had prepared me for the small room size, long walk up the stairs to the room, and RV sized bathroom. The house reminded me of my grandmother's house -- old and shabby, not well maintained. The toilet paper holder in the bathroom was broken, and the metal threshold at the doorway was loose. It would fall off to reveal very rusty and corroded […] doorway. Our room faced the road, and it was quite noisy until midnight, and the construction crew across the road started up around 7:00 a.m. There are no public rooms at all -- even the business center is just the main office after hours. Their web site mentions a "private garden a short walk away," but if it exists, no one mentioned it. Wireless internet was available at a reasonable charge, but in the secondary house, where we were, it was a very weak signal. The remote didn't work for the television. One towel per person was provided for the entire stay -- and there weren't many places to hang them up so they would dry. Still, it's in a great area -- only a few minutes from the Gloucester Road tube station. I really liked having a refrigerator and the kitchenette. The staff was helpful and cheerful, although, since the office is in the back of the primary building, we didn't see much of them. I'd stay here again if it was just me trying to be frugal and efficient, but if I were looking for a holiday, I'd go somewhere else. Les mer
"Summer stay for a week at Aston's"
Aston's Apartments are an economical way to do London. Located in a quiet neighborhood, these are very compact rooms with closet, kitchen in a little cupboard, bathroom, a step up, in a plastic box...literally. It is about 3 feet square with shower, toilet with shower curtain on your right shoulder as you sit to go, and sink on your left arm. Inconvenient […] glass shelf over the tiny sink makes it impossible to wash your face in the sink without splashing water all over the floor or your feet. BUT it works when you get used to it. The bed was ok, no pillow top here, but it was a queen. Window opened to back looking onto green trees and the fresh air is great. We were near the front door so it was an easy exit every morning. It is a quick walk to Gloucester Station, very convenient with some embassies and lovely buildings in this neighborhood, felt very safe even late at night, several small parks nearby, excellent restaurants all over here. Short hike to Kensington Gardens and other bus routes. We took the Big Bus tour one day right from in front of the Gloucester Station and that was perfect, sit down, listen and hop off, hop on easily all over the city. If you want luxury, this is not it, but the other factors make is a pretty good way to see London. Les mer
"MY WORST HOTEL EXPERIENCE EVER"
Firstly I have spent the last 10years living in London and I was appalled that such cheap, vulgar accommodation can some how receive a 3star rating (you must be joking). The street is beautiful and that’s where the complements stop, the hotel/apartments (!) make a mockery of an area which historical has been associated with the British upper class. […] Cheap, nasty and the room smelt so bad I could barely sleep, checking out after my first night despite paying for two- life is indeed too short to spend any time in such a place. Tourists please forget it- pay an extra few pounds for a much better holiday experience and Londoners please take note, we should strive to make our city the best in the world and treat our guests with the respect they deserve. Les mer
It is in a very nice neighborhood and is only a 5 min walk to the tube. The room was small and the bathroom smelled awful, but the place had a lot of character and the people were helpful.
"A great hotel, beautiful location, friendly staff"
This hotel is in the Kensington area of London. It was very close to a Tube station. The room was small, but to be expected for European hotels. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. It was very handy having the kitchenette in the room, as that saved us some money on dining expenses. And the grocery store was just down the block! I would definitely […] recommend this hotel to anyone traveling in London! Les mer

"Aston's Apartments, London"
All in all, we were fairly satisfied with our stay. The hotel was a very short walk from the tube and some good pubs and restaurants. Upon arrival, we received a free upgrade to a double deluxe which was a pleasant surprise. Although we felt very safe in the hotel and in the neighbor hood itself, we were a little concerned about security. One evening […] when we were lying in bed watching TV, another guest unlocked and opened our door. They were as surprised as we were, so we knew it was unintentional - but, do all the guest have the same keys and locks? Les mer
"Great location but wear earplugs"
The neighborhood was great-- the room was fine. Old carpet but a small little area with a sink, microwave, fridge and burners. The bathroom was very small, but even my tall husband handled the shower. The window view was nice, but the windows were so thin that you literally could hear people walking outside and people dialing their cell phones on the […] sidewalk outside our room.Smokers smoke seeped into our room from outside. The front door, near our room had a sign to close door quietly, but it banged so loudly every time it was opened or closed. These things could be easily fixed and would also save the hotel heating and air conditioning costs by replacing windows. We would still stay here again-- we bring earplugs for this very reason in case hotel guests are noisy in the halls. Again-- it was still a good place to stay. Les mer
"Astons Apartments"
Good location and fairly quiet surroundings but not worth it. Our room was in a different building and was nothing like the pictures on their website - a little more honesty in advertising would make this type of lodging easier to accept. Room was either on the 5th or 6th floor (depending on how you count the floors) with no elevator and no help with […] the luggage. Once we got to the room it was disappointing - VERY small and not overly clean. The bathroom was ridiculous - the shower, sink & toilet were all in what would be a normal shower stall in any other hotel I've stayed in. Using the toilet literally meant sitting in the shower with a shower curtain draped over your shoulder - impossible to consider this "normal" even in Japan. The kitchen nook was "innovative" as well, a sink, microwave, fridge plus some dishes and cutlery & storage - all behind a couple of doors that looked like a closet - not a bad idea and certainly worked better than the bathroom. Other items - Heater didn't work until the fellow at the front desk came up and fixed it - ditto the telephone. - Windows opened (nice) - cleaning was regular but not particularly well done - TV offered 6 channels (or 5 if you discount the channel telling you how to use the TV) - regular maintenance was long over due - carpet damage (stains & rips), poorly maintained hallways, windows in need of painting/repairs. Overall, the room and building were badly dated with some touch-ups done to try and bring it into the 20th century. Largely a disappointment - nothing "quaint" or "charming" about this place - just a mediocre little room that was over priced for what was offered. Other tenants in this building seemed to be living there - maybe renting out rooms in this building is a sideline? I am not likely to return. We get to London for a few days each year and only want a clean & reasonably priced room that is convenient for the sight-seeing we do. Astons is convenient but we have done far better elsewhere. "Decent hotel by London standards"
We are a 30 year old couple who stayed at the Astons appartment in November 2009. We are not particularly fussy, lived in London for a few years in the past and so are aware that there are some pretty grotty places out there. For a 3 star London hotel at 90£ per night, the accomodation was decent. Room size is fine for two, it did not feel crammed. […] There was a cubboard in which we could put our large suitcase and all our stuff to free up space in the room. Small desk for breakfast. The room is no better, no worse than we had expected. Not very romantic for a week-end away, just functional. Window opens onto a backyard (all double-rooms do), and so there was no noise from traffic. No noisy guests either. Area is great, residential and quiet, and 5 short minutes walk from Gloucester road tube station, which is in a friendly animated area. Things we did not like about the room: tiny bathroom, need to be careful when taking a shower or else the floor gets flooded, bed very soft and bouncy so woke up with really stiff back and neck, draft from window which we managed to reduce slightly by fixing the curtains (bed is right up against the window), fire alarm kept going off when making toasts (but then turns itself off after a few seconds).Staff was friendly, let us leave our luggage in the office prior and after checkout (unlocked room but someone seemed to be at the desk at all times). We had a great week-end, and we would recommend this hotel, but we would prefer a place where the bed wasn't so uncomfortable. Les mer
"Good hotel in good location"
Single room was small (as expected) at the top of six half flights of stairs. Kitchen unit contained fair-sized under-the-counter refrigerator, two-burner stove, microwave, sink, and utensils. Modular but adequate bathroom with shower. Four minute walk from Gloucester Road underground with nearby grocery stores, banks, and restaurants.
"Not bad value for the money"
Very basic room but outstanding location, in a quiet residential street just around the corner from the Gloucester Road tube station. Plenty of restaurants and shops nearby. Very nice and helpful staff.
