Best Western Plus Mainland Inn & Suites - Texas City

Wife & I had a chance stayed at this place on 4/12/13 till 4/14. We have no complaints at all. Overall everything was nice & clean about this place. Mainland mall not impressed at all but movie theater was ok. Overall we've a great time at this place.

It was overall nice and comfortable. And though the service was great, there a few inconvienences...the bath mat had mold spots on the bottom and top. They don't have cribs, but thankfully I had a pack n play handy. The front entry was not automatic, so trying to pull the luggage dolly with two toddlers by myself, was a huge hassle. But the beds were […] comfortable and the room was nice and didn't smell like smoke. It was non-smoking, but sometimes non-smoking rooms still have that lingering smell, from other rooms that are smoking. This hotel was good except for the bed. I'm not one that's normally fussy about beds but that one was as hard as a rock. We had friends staying in anoter room and they had the same complaint. Cinder blocks would have been more comfortable.

Let me forwarn you, the bed is like sleeping on cinder blocks. It is terrible. My husband and I stayed with another couple at this hotel and was very happy with the apperance of the hotel. The problem was that we didn't get to sleep the entire night after a long day of driving 3 hours to get to our hotel after the wedding that we attended. We personally […] feel as if it would have been way better to spend an extra 20 dollars to stay at HIExpress or Fairfield. Breakfast was a big disappointment. Fruit was not fresh and area was dirty. We chose to checkout and pay for a breakfast. Room was adequate at best. Area mall is nearly vacant. Would not return here.

We were there to spend the night before our cruise. Arrived late but wished we had more time to stay. Staff was excellent. Room was great. Breakfast was perfect. If you have anything negative to say about this place, you are just way too picky. Loved it!

I really was happy with my experience here and will stay again. I was in town with my two boys for a funeral and this hotel was perfect..I was worried about feeding them on time before the services and with the complimentary breakfast this place was perfect. only bad thing was the cleaning person had left used soap in the shower. When we arrived, a whole family (30+) had all arrived at the same time to check in, needless to say, this overwhelmed the desk clerk. So it took about 30-45 minutes to get checked in. Room and location was great!!!, don't expect much from the outlet mail down the street.

This hotel was ok, but I probably wouldn't stay here again. The hotel allowed smoking in at least some of the rooms. The hallways and our room smelled like smoke. Also, the pictures of the pool on-line were misleading. It looked like a fairly good size in the pictures when in reality, the pool was extremely small. The hotel was okay. Perfect for a night before our cruise. It was older, and smelled of old smoke. I don't understand the difference between Best Western Plus Hotels, but we stayed in one the night before in Lewisville, and it had choices of pillows, was very updated, had free bottles of water, and was just great.

We arrived at the Hotel check in was very smooth no problem except for having to lug luggage up to second floor for only a one night stay. We settled in for the night and were watching TV when I noticed a bug on my arm then there were more and more of them, they were on the walls and all over the bed. I called the desk and asked them to come up to the […] room to see what was going on. They were very polite and offered to move us to another room which they did. The only remark which really upset me was when they said this has not happened in quite a while. It was a very nice place to stay and we would have been quite happy staying there but not with the bugs. We still have not been able to identify the bugs nor was the manager able to identify them, all I do know is they were air borne and quite frankly looked like termites. Close to Galveston without the outrageous Galveston prices. Continental breakfast was decent. Staff was friendly. Bed was very comfortable although I didn't get the King room I had reserved.

I would recommend this place if you don't mind driving approximately 20 or more minutes to get to the Galveston beach. I thought it would be much closer to the beach, and was surprised at the drive. Next time I would spend a little more money and get closer to the beach, but for the price, the place is good. Beware, though, if you don't like firm beds, […] you won't like this place. The beds are extremely HARD! And the channels on the TV were very, very limited, and what few channels I could get, the reception was awful. Don't plan on watching the TV while you're there. Free breakfast was convenient though.. And, another plus was there was a Walmart right around the corner and we were able to stock up on stuff to take to the beach. Les mer

The hotel was relatively easy to find, there are restaurants within walking distance. and it is easy to get onto the freeway and drive into Galveston to the beach. The kids enjoyed the pool and the staff was very friendly. However the cleaning staff needs some additional help, on our first day we did not have towels in our room, but the front desk corrected […] the problem promptly. Overall I would say that our 4th of July stay was great considering the price we paid. If you want a clean comfortable place away from all of the beach congestion,but close enough to drive a short distance this is a good place to stay. Les mer

The room appeared to be clean but had a funky smell to it. The air conditioner worked great, beds were comfortable, and the staff was friendly. This hotel is about 15 minutes from the beach in Galveston and right in front of the mall. Didn't see what else was in town.

So, we spent that hour hour at the Mall of the Mainland which for a few stores was pretty much closed. A real ghost town. Other than that first hour of the stay was OK.

Okay, see above. Breakfast area small. We stayed at the Hampton Inn next door a month earlier. We liked it better. Staying there again in October. Chose these locations to save money instead of staying in Galveston.

Hotel was about as expected. Nothing great. Check -in was very quick and the clerk was friendly. I requested a non-smoking room, but received a smoking room instead although I did not complain since I am not too offended by a smoke smell. There were several stains on the carpet in the room, but otherwise all else seemed clean. I would not rate this […] hotel any more than average quality. It seemed about on par with most other similar chain style hotels along freeways. A continental breakfast was served each morning and was sufficient for my needs. I would probably choose another place next time even though there was nothing that was really bad about this place. Just my preference. As far as safety and security, I never felt un-secure while there. I would only recommend this hotel for someone just needing a stop for the night before continuing on to their destination. i.e. A place to lay their head and no more. On a 1 – 10 scale, I would rate this hotel at about 6. Les mer

They put me in smoking when I am a non smoker & told me they could not give me another room. Very upset that we had to make my 4 year old son sleep in that smoke filled room. Other than that, the room was neat & clean. Bad first impression.
