The Garfield Suites Hotel - Cincinnati

This is our second time staying at the Garfield Suites to attend the International Quilt Show. Although this motel is old everything was clean and neat. Some of the furnishings were is bit "worn" but confortable none-the-less. As llong as the Quilt show returns to Cincinnati, we will again book with them.

Everything was clean but it was obvious that short cuts are routinly taken to "fix" things. Holes in walls were covered by what looked like pieces of vinyl. HVAC systems were stacked on top of the old systems taking up an entire corner of the bedrooms. The rooms were functional but outdated with shoddy workmenship. The staff was very helpful. The parking […] garage access was a maze under ground which was really unsettling since I had to leave and return several times during the evenings. They did their best to make sure that there were mirrors around corners and good lighting to make it better. Les mer

This hotel is close to the convention center which makes it an option for those who have downtown activities. The rooms are in need of an upgrade, but are sufficient for most needs.

The Garfield Suites advertises "condos" and they mean it. The place is older and has seen some use, but is very spacious. My unit had two distinct bedrooms. Some of the lights were out, but if you needed a place to work (four blocks to the courthouse) or entertain a family (full kitchen means you can make breakfast and lunch easily) this is worth a […] look. The amount of space was great. The suite was a full 1 bedroom apartment (like you would live in.) Full kitchen with dishes, separate bedroom and living room. For a price similar to other just rooms in the area you get a full apartment. I have been on the road for 6 weeks and it is amazing what some other hotels will call a suite. Sorry...it smelled. Yes, most likely i was on an old "smoking" floor...but it smelled.

If you are accustomed to a "quiet" place to sleep, take some ear plugs with you to be able to sleep at this hotel. Other than that it is a great place with a very good restaurant for dining.

The room was exceptional, the gym was adequate, staff treated us well, and the only downside was we were only in town one night. I will use this hotel for every Cincinnati visit!

The Garfield Suites is in a decent location for access to the convention center if you don't mind a short walk. There's plenty of places to eat nearby. The hotel itself is a bit worn. The rooms are fine, but you can tell they've been used for a while. Unfortunately some guests I brought into town had a poor experience here. The water heater in the closet gave off bad odors which saturated my guests suits, so at our business meetings the next day they felt very self conscious and were not happy.

I was doing work downtown. We were able to rent 1 room for 3 guys for the price of 1 room from other hotels.

Our room was the size of a decent-sized apartment, with a living room, kitchenette, and two full bedrooms! This was great with a family of four and a real bargain. The rooms and hotel generally felt a bit worn and worn-down but I'd definitely go back because of the luxurious space of the rooms.

the staff really went above and beyond. Older room, a bit pricey for what it is but a great location and extremely great service. They really went all out for us.

My husband and I stayed here for a wedding that was on the same block. We only picked the hotel for its location. The service was good - there really is only one reason I wouldn't necessarily recommend it to a friend - and that is: the parking garage... you park in it and then find your way to a red door (this is no joke, in fact - verbatim from the […] security guard in the garage: "Go down that way and go down the stairs til you come to a pepsi machine. Go around the pepsi machine until you find a red door, then press the button."). Alright, so, down some steps to a pepsi machine, then you realize you have to go down more stairs and there's a red door with a button. You press the button and then you enter into a windy skinny hallway with mirrors and cameras which makes you wonder about the safety of this hallway. You follow the RED carpet eventually to the hotel lobby. It's not complex per se but, should you have a lot of bags, it might be quite annoying. Les mer

Needs updated, hotel parking was complicated and around the corner, concerned with others review of bed bugs and asked front desk about it . They stated yes there have been isolated instances of bed bugs, but precautions have been taken. Seen spiders in rooms, 2 of the 3 t.vs did not work. Maintence had to replace.

The mattress was due for replacement. Worked great for our needs, but someone who wants a modern kitchen with granite countertops and a new modern stove, this is not the place. I can see it as a great place to spend the weekend enjoying football games or baseball.

Same as the last... great value hotel with a great location.

Staff was friendly and helpful. But the rooms - the decor isn't just dated, it is downright depressing. More like an apartment in the projects than a hotel room. The neighborhood just reinforces this feeling. I stayed here on business - no way would I recommend this to associates.

I stayed here for my birthday because it was close to everything downtown. I read some other reviews and was not sure exactly what to expect. But it was awesome! I got the Govenors suite and it was so nice and spacious and such a great price! The look over the balcony was beautiful! I read some other reviews and people had said it was a little out of […] date and style. If I had never read that I woud not have thought twice about it. Only thing out of date was the curtains. The only thing I was upset about was when I called for more blankets they said they were all out. But the locations is perfect we were able to walk everywhere and the restaurant was delicious. I had such a wonderful experience staying at this hotel. It was clean, comfortable and even homey. I will be staying with them again.

I booked this hotel for a convention in downtown Cincinnati. It was a short 4 block walk to the convention center I enjoyed each day. When I had too much to carry the complimentary hotel shuttle dropped me off. I booked a 2 bedroom suite for my business partner and me. The room was huge. Big living/ dining room with writing desk and dining tabel, kitchen […] stocked with dishes, full size refridgerator, dish washer and coffee maker. The bath room was plenty big and the towels were adult size instead of large hand towels you get in other hotels. Each bedroom had it's own television and closet. The beds were comfortable and pillows were like you brought them from home. Not your typical lumpy hotel pillow. The staff at the front desk was amazingly helpful. The people behind the counter greeted you with a smile each day and you couldn't sneak past the counter without one of them asking how your morning or evening was. I would highly recommend Garfield Suites Hotel for anyone traveling to Cincinnati who need a hotel located downtown. I know we will be back next year. Les mer

It's really nice to have a suite downtown for less than the price of the downtown business hotels, and I stay at Garfield Suites often. Nice staff. Heat struggles to raise temperature of large suite on a cold day. Wi-fi is free, but can be unreliable, cut you off for no obvious reason.

Everyone was very helpful with places to eat and directions driving downtown. Older hotel some updates. Great location for downtown. Plan on returning this summer.

On a business trip in Cincinnati and this locations provided a great value. Nice large suite with plenty of room to lounge and get some work done. Good location in the center of downtown. Somewhat dated, but didn't bother me what so ever.

My sister and I had a wonderful time and stay at the Garfield Suites Hotel. The hotel staff was helpful, personable and extremely friendly. The shuttle driver was willing to accomodate us in every way. I plan to return in the Spring 2012 with my daughter and we will definitely be staying at the Garfield Suites Hotel.

My fiance and I came to Cincinnati on a spontaneous trip to see a football game. We stayed at the Garfield Inn which wasn't far from campus and it was decently priced. We got validated parking so we ended up parking for free. Also, when we asked the guy at the front desk where to eat for dinner, he gave us vouchers for a free appetizer at a restaurant. […] The hotel was pretty nice, the room looks like it might not have been updated since the 80's. But, we were there to sleep so we didn't really need all of the amenities of a full kitchen. Overall, a pretty nice place. Les mer

Getting to the hotel was easy and parking inside was great. Within walking distance of many Cincinnati sights. Loved the apartment style suite with separate rooms: living/dining; full kitchen; bedromm; lots of closet space; nice bathroom. All this for a price about the same as a one room motel. We are a family of four and always look for a suite so the kids can go to sleep early in a separate location. The Garfield offered a 2 bedroom unit with a living room and free wi-fi at an attractive price just a few blocks from Fountain Square. The bed was good, the large screen tv in a living room was nice, and adjacent parking at a city-run garage […] was not a hassle. We would definitely recommend this hotel to other families. What looked like a superior hotel in a great location turned out to be much less than expected. The staff was unprepared for my arrival. Had to go to computer and print out reservation and took 25 minutes to get checked in. Room was ok. But if your gonna offer a kitchen shouldn't you provide a fork? Heater was a noisy rattle trap that kept interrupting […] sleep. Great location downtown. Just be sure you have that last beer to help you sleep. The bed won't do it for you. I liked my stay and would recommend it to my family and friends. With a late check-in I didn't want to venture out to get dinner. They have a cafe/bar right there and the food was great. I will be staying again in the near future.

i got upgraded to a 2 story 2 bedroom 1 kitchen and den room at no extra charge

Loved, Loved, LOVED this hotel! Lots of character - our suite was excellent - balcony was wonderful - front desk staff very helpful & you can't beat their shuttle if you're taking in a show or a game! The parking lot is just a block away & you can drop off all your luggage before parking or use their valet service. GREAT price for downtown - didn't […] eat at the restaurant but it smelled fabulous but it was great to bring in food. Kitchenette was great and I just loved this place. Clean, good location

It had been a number of years since my last stay at the Garfield Suites, at the time I remember things looked "dated." I was pleased to enter the new lobby, updated and sporting a fresh, new logo. Upon entry into our suite, however, my opinion quickly changed... The decor remains outdated and the the appliances were old and beaten-down. (I think I […] had the same stove in college 15 years ago and it was 20 years old then.) The carpet was old, worn, and dirty, and the bathroom was dingy and certainly worse for the wear. As I walked a friend to her car, we were solicited by some other hotel guests (who were rather intoxicated) in the lobby. The men offered us pizza in exchange for...well...we'll just omit that part. As I made up the sofa bed for my guest, we found the mattress was dirty and stained with heaven knows what. We couldn't find the extra sheets/blankets that should have been in the room. The bellman was quick to deliver the items, however. Overall, I would not recommend staying at Garfield Suites until they undertake a major renovation. Les mer

You get what you pay for, I suppose. Expect at least one burned-out lighbulb, a non-funtioning electrical outlet, not-too-clean flloors and noisy neighbors. Lots of room in the suite but why would a solo traveler consider a second bedroom to be a "no-charge upgrade"? Nice to have a kitchenette, if time permitted. Wifi a bonus. The parking garage is a huge inconvenience! Probably wouldn't stay again although staff was friendly. Would rather stay out of downtown. Rooms were a little outdated and not spotless.
