"Great view of the Gulf"
Front desk and staff were very nice. This hotel is just really old and needs updating really bad. The carpet looks nasty, the bed wasn't very comfortable, and it's right along Seawall Blvd. so the traffic is loud in the morning. The good points are price, location, and beautiful pool area, and of course the great staff!
It would have been better if there were refrigerators and micro waves in rooms. People there were very friendly.

first time staying here (travel to galveston 2-3 times a yr) like its location, place is ok, was clean, would of liked having a fridge (have to request one i guess) but i made do. good cheaper place to stay and is close to the beach. would stay there again.
The location & view were good. Hotel is older & not very sound proof etc. It was satifactory but I probably would not stay there again.

We asked for a handicap room and did not receive it. The beds were uncomfortable and room was not clean. Do not stay here.

THIS WAS AN AWESOME 3 DAY VACATION. GREAT SERVICE, GOOD BREAKFAST AND AWESOME VIEWS FROM THE BALCONY!!! I CAN'T WAIT TO GO BACK. THE LOCATION, PRICE AND VIEWS ARE UNBEATABLE.

Make you reservations through hotels.com. I saw lots of people leave frustrated due to other services not reporting the payment and the people not being able to check in due the hotel not having it. I checked in at 3 am and they had mine I made 3 hours earlier.

Nothing fancy but right across the street from the beach and has a nice pool with a waterfall. The hotel is within walking distance of several places to eat a few bars that are open until 2:00 am. Great place for a family who wants to spend the day at the beach or singles who want to party at night and not drive.

If being on the sea wall with a room that looks out over gulf is your thing this is a great hotel. If modern amenities are more important, spend more for a newer hotel. "It wasn't the worst but It wasn't the best!"
I liked my stay over all! but the rooms do not come with a refridg. nor a microwave! Which I feel today is a big deal for people who are staying more than one day!! The basic cable is okay but they could have aleast one movie station which you can enjoy movies at night, like HBO or SHOWTIME. We stay here frequently when the condos are too expensive during peak season. It's our old faithful hotel and we've been staying here for years. It's old, so don't expect too much, but it's very clean, affordable and conveniently located to everything with a beautiful ocean view. During peak season this is the place to stay. Perfect location. Just across the beach. My kids played in the beach and then we went back to the hotel to rest.

I would not recommend this hotel. We arrived late and were given a room. When I went in the room, the chairs were on top of the bed and there were no curtains, so I returned to the desk and was given another room. When I went in this room, it still had garbage from the previous guests and the beds weren't even made. I returned to the desk again and […] was given a 3rd room which was ok but the ac didn't work well and was small. If I had not booked and pre-paid through hotels.com, I would have cancelled the 2nd night and gone elsewhere. Les mer
"Great privately owned motel"
Always wanted to stay there since I started college in '90. Spent New Year's weekend in a room for some "me time". It was great. Easy access to motel, check in was easy, clean, comfortable bed, right on Seawall, and staff was friendly. If you're looking for luxury - soaking tub, socializing, etc. you'd probably want to go elsewhere since the rooms are […] small. This is not was I was after though, so it was perfect for me. "Passable experience but TINY ROOM"
OMG the room was soooooo small!!! Almost literally a hole in the wall, since one wall was unpainted brick. I certainly hope that it was the design, not that they forgot to paint. We were on the 4th floor, by the way. TV was small, old, and the signal was cruddy (most of the stations had snow). Wireless internet was OK enough for email and light browsing, […] but not Skype. Heater was loud but not very effective (and there was a random and distractingly LOUD knocking noise in the ceiling whenever the heater was on). It was my first time in Galveston. "NO HEAT IN ROOM"
After checking in, my wife and I went to eat and out on the town. When we returned late we turned on the heat as we went to bed. Waking up at 3:00AM it was freezing cold in the room and we discovered the heat was not working. I would check out the air conditioner and the heat depending what time of the year your there but I do not recommend this hotel […] even with the fairly low rates. Les mer

I had a nice stay. Close to everything in the area that i needed, Only problem was the bed to soft for me. Other then that it was great to have a place to lay my head down. Thanks for the room.

This is an older motel and it does show some wear but we will stay there again. The staff was great and very helpful, the bed was confortable and the veiw from the balcony was the best. The Commodore is an older motel and right on the beach. The price is usually a very good value and you're in walking distance of many restaurants and shops. The rooms are very clean but a bit older. There's nothing fancy about them. The motel elevator continues to be slow and dirty. "Commodore on the Beach- home away from home."
We were able to check in early as requested. The staff here were more than accommodating. We are smokers and the management let us change to a room on the first floor so it was eaiser to access the soaking sections. The morning staff treated us with kindness. It was like visiting family. We live within driving distance to Galveston and get a hotel room […] when we can. Our first visit to the Commodore has proven to be our favorite place to stay. I look forward to returning. Les mer

we enjoyed our stay, location was great, walking distance to alot of shops and restaurants. clean non-smoking rooms, the only thing was that there was no coffee pot in the room.

It has perfect location, the only thing about this hotel is the front desk people are really mean people. There is no way to hear greeting from them at any time. I think they are really rude.

"great view of gulf"
We have stayed several times at Commodore, in the past their were problems. This stay was great it is off season, the place was clean, the pool was also clean. The elevator was old dirty and slow. Everything else was great this time. We go back because the location can not be beat.

Loved the location right across from the beach!! Room was clean & balcony was used & wonderful too! Only complaint was the elevator ceiling was terribly dirty with accumulated dirt and the fan did not move causing the air to be stagnant when the doors closed. Other than that front desk personal were very courteous and helpful. Do plan on going again […] and have already told others about it. Would LOVE a coupon discount for future use :-) Suzan Les mer

Obviously the hotel has aged and alittle retro, but it is very clean with the best views of the gulf for a great price. Cant beat the value of this establishment.

We went in August 2011. Pay 15.00 more and get a better hotel down the street!! We came down for four days. We ended up canceling are hotel and changing. It only coasted us 15.00 more a night. The hotel is not in the best shape nor is it very clean. I would never stay here again! NEVER! The bathroom was a joke! The air conditioner in our room made this […] loud noise it was horrible!
