Hotel Santa Croce in Fossabanda - Pisa

Grei beliggenhet i rolig hjørne av sentrum og med gangavstad til seværdigheter og gågaten. Gammelt kloster, og en fikk en føling med "klosteratmosfæren" i de spartanske rommene som var svært enkle med helt greie. Servicen på hotellet var imidlertid svært dårlig. Hotellet averterer med transport til slyplassen, noe som var avgjørende for vårt valg av […] hotell da vi skulle reise fra hotellet kl. 0400 om natten. Da vi ved ankomst gjorde oppmerksom på at vi ønsket å benytte oss av tilbudet, viste det seg vanskelig. For det første hadde vi ikke bestilt transport på internett, en tjeneste hotellet forøvrig ikke har når det komemr til stykket. For det andre var det lørdag, og da hadde de uansett ikek transport, noe det helelr ikke var opplyst på nettet. For det tredje besto servicen i at de bestilte taxi for oss. Denen taxien gikk det forøvrig ikek an å be om å få bestilt kvelden i forvegen, vi måtte ned i resepsjonen midt på natten for å be de bestille, før vi gikk opp igjen på rommet og gjorde oss klar til avreise kl. 0400. Mer smidig enn det tok de ikek mål av seg til å være. Videre hadde vi ved bestilling av hotellrommene krysset av på at vi ville ha rom med to separate senger. Vi fikk dobbeltseng med ett over- laken på deling. Da vi var venninner på tur, hadde vi lyst på eget laken. Vi fikk da vite at hotellet ikke hadde noen registrering av hvem som bestilte dobbeltseng og hvem som ønsket to tvillingsenger. Dermed har hotellet antagelig misfornøyde gjester i den sammenheng hver eneste dag, uten at det så ut til å medføre noen endring av systemet. Les mer

Skuffet over at vi ikke fikk opplevelsen å bo i gamle del. Lite av tradisjoner som vi hadde sett fram til. Den nye delen var som andre hoteller. Ikke alle var like gode i engelsk ved restauranten. God mat. Busstreik, men 15 min å gå til sentrum. Rolig når ikke flyene gikk rett over. Siste buss fra sentrum gikk tidlig, 21.00. This hotel is a former convent, now a very comfortable and quiet place to stay in Pisa. It has a good and modestly priced restaurant in the court yard. 10 minutes by taxi to the airport. 10 minutes walkover to the centre of the city. You can't find a better place.

Koselig hotell i gammelt kloster. Fine bueganger og stor plen. Nydelig frokost i koselige omgivelser. Grei avstand til sentrum. En del flystøy.

Hotellet ligger i et gammelt kloster, og man får en opplevelse deretter. En stille og rolig hage i midten av bygningen, et klokketårn som fortsatt brukes og fresker over hver dør. Dette er for de som vil oppleve kulturen som oser over hele Pisa. Rommene er spartanske og har ingen minibar, men er komfortable, rene og pene. Resepsjonen er åpen hele døgnet […] og behjelpelig med det meste. Hele Pisa er innen 20 minutters gangavstand. Det er ikke en dårlig ting når man får en slik gåtur gjennom historiske Pisa. Les mer

Styr unna dette hotellet. Rommet var ubekvemt med et slags dusj-WCkabinett på soverommet med en lukt som satt i nesen hele dagen. Bespisningen ble gjort på militærmessevis med matbrett i kø. Betjeningen var jevnt over mutte og lite imøtekommende - kvinnene var værst. 14 herlige dager i Italia på tre andre hotell gjennom Hotels.com var helt topp, men […] fikk en guffen avslutning ved dette såkalte hotellet. Had to walk a bit to get to the centre of Pisa. Clean and comfortable rooms. Great atmosphere as the building has been a former convent. I would go back.

This hotel is a high three star. The hotel itself is simple but the history of the place and welcoming service of the staff brings the experience up.

Enkelt og rimelig hotell en kilometer fra Pisa Centrale - togstasjonen i Pisa.

Litt spesielt hotell med en passe sentral beliggenhet. Noe støy fra vifte et sted i hotellet, trolig fra avtrekk på et av naborommene. Sikkert idyllisk i fint vær.

Friendly efficient welcome, peaceful setting and a quiet night, no traffic noise, no loud music. Close to the town centre and all the restaurants, bars and shops. Would stay there again.

Basic but clean and ideal for a short break. We booked v late so probably didn't have much choice in terms of rooms - ideally a bigger room (2 adults and 2 teenage girls) would have been better but couldn't complain given the cost . lovely hotel in lovely grounds rooms basic but very neat and tidy.food was a basic menu which wasnt too good to be honest... if the hotel concentrated on a better menu and restaurant then this would be a top notch residence.....

Basic rooms but they are clean and comfortable and we had our own bathroom. We had difficulty in finding the hotel but we rang the hotel and the guy on reception gave us directions. The restaurant wasn't that good for an evening meal so would probably recommend eating out but the breakfast, which we sat and ate outside was really nice. Picked this hotel as the pictures looked interesting - first stop for one night in Pisa before a long trip around Italy. The hotel is easy enough to find from the train station. On arrival, the staff were a bit non-plussed...and the room was like a prison cell...but being as it's an old monastery, that kinda fitted!! Lovely setting though, and in the […] evening, sitting in the garden terrace was really nice - quiet too, apart from the bell in the morning! Breakfast was adequate, and a bit of a free for all but we were pretty pleased with the place. If I ever go to Pisa again, unlikely as it is, I would go back to this hotel. :) Les mer

It is a decent hotel for its price, the surrounding historical context is great. However there was no warm water for the entire three days, no internet availability, the TV in the room didn't work.

This is a great hotel and location outside the centre of Pisa, which is a short walk away, it's clean, rooms basic as your would expect in a monastry. The church bells ring at 8 am on Sunday! Great for a short stopover in Pisa. Staff are really helpful and the building character makes this a different hotel experience to the usual hotel.

The hotel staff were so friendly and all spoke excellent English,the hotel room has a great character and feel of old times- all pristine and tranquile; a very pleasant srprise was on site secure parking not mentioned anywhere in the description.All in all, value for money all in all. Very convenient location single number of € by taxi from airport. In walking distance from tourist attractions. I liked my breakfast buffet style and felt peaceful like a monk in my room))).

Stayed for 1 night passing through Pisa. The hotel a little bit of a walk to the city centre and attractions. The hotel is very unique and original though as a young couple we found it a bit "stuffy". Would suit older couples without children.

The only good thing about this place is the building itself... It is a beautiful and very interesting old convent.

This was an unique experience! If you like querky and different this hotel will please you. Excellent staff, very clean rooms - brilliant value for money. It was lovely to be woken up by the bells ringing in the morning but I appreciate some may not be quite so pleased. A little way from centre but if you like walking this isn't a problem (10-15 mins […] along the river), or a taxi wouldn't cost much. There is a restaurant on site with a lovely view of the courtyard. The food was very good. All in all it was a very good experience. Probably will not go back to Pisa now we have done the Tower (not alot else to see after spending 2 days there), but I would definitely recommend this hotel and if I were to go back I would stay there again without hesitation! It would make a good base for sightseeing the surrounding area, good train facilities. Les mer

This hotel used to be a convent and was modified to suit hotel rooms. Has a very nice court but don't expect much of your room. The rooms are very simple, so are everything there. But it is a nice hotel and the staff can be nice.

The hotel has a spectacular cloister where one can eat breakfast and an evening meal if desired. Although not in the centre of Pisa getting around presents no problems.

They have done a good job turning an old monastery into a quiet retreat. the courtyard is a great setting save the occasional jet flying over head. Liked it. note that it is clear across town to the Leaning Tower but the walk along the river is nice and if you head the other way you'll run into locals exercising and enjoying the day in a riverside  […] park. DELIVERS WHAT YOU BUY. WI-FI INTERNET NEAR LOBBY. WALKING DISTANCE TO THE LEANING TOWER ( ABOUT 30 MINUTE WALK ) AND OTHER MUST SEE PLACES IN PISA. THE ROOM WAS LARGE AND CLEAN AND THE BUILDING VERY NICE AND ROMANTIC. STAFF NICE AND HELPFUL. DIDN'T HAVE BREAKFAST INCLUDED BUT WENT TO LOOK AND FOR 8 EUROS NOT WORTH. I SAW A SMALL CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST […] NOT MUCH TO CHOOSE FROM. INSTEAD WENT TO A LOCAL CAFE AND FOR 10 EUROS ME AND MY 2 KIDS HAVE THE SAME BREAKFAST. Les mer

DO NOT stay here unless you wish to be eaten alive!!! We were bitten continuously by mosquitos, even after applying repellent. These bites were huge welts that were sore to touch, and I'm not talking 1 or 2, im talking 8 or 9 bites in one night of sleep. The staff were rather rude pressing their restaurant when asked where the nearest take away pizza […] was...which might I add the food in their restaurant tasted like a 'heat and eat'. When asked for information or even an extra pillow it seemed like a chore for the staff. Not only were we awoken at half 7 in the morning by the bell tower but we were then awoken by cleaning staff trying to enter our room at 9am to clean it, even though it clearly states that you have to exit at 11. I sadly only stayed one night which was a Saturday night.There was a wedding party which was very noisey...............as weddings do.................that stopped at about 1.30 and we were back to monesterial calm.A lovely interesting hotel in a beautiful area AND so helpful at the desk, day and night.

This cloistered building has been very nicely converted to provide fairly basic butcharming, elegant and peaceful accommodation. The breakfast operation works fine but the dinner menu is somewhat limited. The hotel is within walking distance of all Pisa's social and cultural amenities.

The hotel location is ok but it is hidden in a corner of the Pisa neighbourhood which is not easy to find. The hotel does not qualify to be a hotel but more of better backpacker stay. It is basically a really old church transforn into a "hotel".The pricing is also ridiculously high based on the condition of the room and services provided and available. […] I can basically stay at a 5 star hotel in Singapore. The walkway in the place is very difficult for guests with large luggage to move around as it has very uneven and rough flooring. The short route to the rooms is to walk across the garden but it is floored with pebbles which make it impossible to cross if you have luggages with wheels which make it really frustrating. The breakfast provided is ok though. The room looks really horrible with no renovation done. Not even a fresh coat of paint on the old cemented walls. The roof is covered with wooden planks which looks really scary. The flooring do not have tiles as well. Only the bathroom is renovated. We even thought of staying the night at the train station instead!! Les mer

What an exciting hotel to stay at for someone who appreciates history and architecture! We arrived late at night and were relieved to find out that the reception was open 24-7. While walking towards our little, but adequate, hotel room/cell we were astonished by how surreal it felt to be there. The building is so well-kept and beautifully refurbished […] and at night the lighting creates a theatrical setting. The room was a standard double with an en-suite but basically a monastery cell with a couple of furnitures put it and a small shower-room. But the fact that they had kept the rooms as original as possible just made it more exciting! Also, great breakfast buffet that could be eaten outside on the patio with a panoramic view of the beautiful courtyard. We rented the hotel's bikes for a day for a small token of 6EUR which was a great way to see Pisa. All in all, a wonderful hotel that we would more than happily return to again and can recommend to others. Les mer

Very nice, quiet place to stay in Pisa, away from all the hustle and bustle of the city center. Did not hear any noise from surrounding rooms. Minor complaints-very small parking lot, although free, but does not have enough room for all the guests staying in the hotel. There is some street parking in front of the hotel, although you would have to pay […] for it during the day. We visited in April, and the room was very cold. The heat was not automatically on and we had to request the gas to be turned on so we could use the heater. They only turned it on at night and then turned it back off during the day. Located in a very quiet part of the city that did not appear to have a lot of local ammenities. A 20 min walk to the train station, 35 min walk to the Leaning Tower and 5/10 mins in a taxi from the airport. I'm a female traveller & stayed for three nights in a single room with shared bathroom, including breakfast, for 3 nights. I was quite taken aback […] by just how basic the rooms were - not much change since the days when the hotel was a monastery! However the rooms were spotless & given how little time I spent in the hotel it served it's purpose as a base. The courtyard was also a lovely place to enjoy breakfast which was buffet style with plenty of choice. The staff were also helpful. Good value for money and would stay again if I was with other people but the location was a little isolated for my liking travelling alone. Les mer

Stayed in APR 2011. Unique experience; kinda cool to actually stay in an old monestary. Queit neighborhood, friendly staff, excellent breakfast that was included with the room. Although we didn't walk from the Train Station, you could, even with small come-alongs. It would take you between 25-30 minutes though. We picked up a taxi at the airport for […] about 7 Euro ($10) including tip. King size bed to up most of the already small room and the tv is only about 10 inches, shower is one of the smallest I've used in europe. Had to turn off the water to lather up after I turned around and hit the nozel with my body...HOT WATER!!! But, one to two nights was/is doable. Any more and you either need to see if they have larger rooms or try elsewhere. TAXI WARNING: Had the receptionist call us a taxi to take us back to the Train Station. I don't use taxis in the US and hardly anywhere for that matter but I found out that they actually start the clock (charging you) from the time you call them. The taxi showed within 3-4 minutes and the charge was already over 5 euros and we didn't even move yet. I also noticed that even at a stop, the timer still runs! I thing in the US you are charged by the 1/4 mile not time? Return trip back to the train station cost an extra 3 Euros - not much but just the point on how they charge you. Les mer

We had a very pleasant short stay. The hotel was comfortable and clean and the staff were friendly. Although the early bells were a little annoying it did ensure we were up and out early! We would recommend this hotel.

Lovely atmosphere, rooms are plain but that's what you'd expect from an ex-monastery! Staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast was well worth the money, eat as much as you like. The evening menu is pretty basic and we thought a bit pricey for what it was. We only did it once. Hotel is about a 20 minute walk to town or station along the river which […] was fine. We had two rooms. The one at the front did have a little noise from taxi arrivals etc, but hey it is a city, the one at the back was v.quiet, we had to wake the kids so they didn't miss breakfast at 10am. Overall it was great value, and the surroundings fitted in so well with a stay in an historic city. So much nicer than identikit typical hotel room. Les mer

very helpful staff.i lost my e- boarding ticket and the staff in the reception let me used their computer and print a new boarding pass.very quiet ,you can sleep well in the night,especially after walking around the whole day.

We only stayed at this hotel for 1 night and the surrounding area was not the best but we were safe in the hotel. I really liked the hotel and the history behind it. It was clean and I did not have much complaints. I would stay there again.
