We had a superior room in the small lodge at the foot of the car park, it was absolutely excellent. Underfloor heating in the bathroom, massive comfy bed and very peaceful and quiet. The staff at check in and at breakfast and extremely attentive, would definitely recommend, we'll definitely be going back.

Great location close to lake, walks and shops. Hotel was excellent - room very clean, powerful shower, very comfortable. Excellent breakfast, nice bar and very pleasant and friendly staff. Would definitely stay again.

It's 11.30pm on a freezing, wet night. We're not long in and after getting dried I'm sitting reading when the heating goes off. I phone the night porter who can't help beyond telling me there are extra blankets! My wife and I went to bed to keep warm, as reading wrapped in a blanket isn't my idea of fun. The room, and especiallly the bathroom, was like […] a tomb. The bar closes at 11pm. The whole hotel seems to go into lockdown at 11.30pm, so night owls, like me, beware. The 'legendary' breakfasts are just normal with a few decent touches, and the sausages taste mainly of cereal. On the morning we were leaving, we were running a bit late, but since checkout wasn't until 11am we thought we'd be OK. Then the receptionist rang to see when we were going to check out - it was 11.01am. At least she apologised about the heating. Les mer

A good hotel in very nice surroundings. The staff were very helpful and attentive. The room we had was clean and more than adequate albeit very warm even with window open. My only suggestion would be that the bathrooms should include a proper over bath shower rather than just a hand attachment for use when having a bath..

We stayed at the Regent for two nights and had a fantastic time. The location is great, right on the lake. We booked a superior room which came with an amazing view. The hotel was very clean and modern, breakfast was delicious and the staff were very helpful and friendly.

We stayed for two nights here and it was lovely The staff were friendly and the food was great for both breakfast and dinner The only thing that let them down in my opinion was leaving soiled tablecloths on the table for the next guests Clean ones please!

Smooth, efficient and most welcoming check-in. All staff on reception very friendly. Breakfasts superb. Room very comfortable;a couple of down points with bedside lights too low to read a book due to low wattage, type of shade and low position. Only one towel rail in bathroom placed directly in line of shower and nowhere else to hang towels so we were […] permanently shuffling them out of the way as each was using the bathroom. A lovely hotel with very friendly, helpful staff. The food was excellent and it was great not having to rush down for breakfast (they serve until 12). The walls seemed a little thin and we could hear the next door occcupant on his mobile (though he did seem a little irate!) . We found the hotel very clean, the staff were very friendly and the inclusive breakfasts very nice. The breakfasts were served between 8am and 12pm which give a good flexibility if like us, we liked a lay in. The only negative and it's quite a big one is the room we were in (Room 16) was very noisy, it faced the busy main road and the hotel car park. […] We had the windows open due to the temperature and all we heard from about 6am was beer deliveries to the hotel and heavy traffic on the main road. We would still recommend this hotel, but certainly not room 16. Les mer

Staff were very friendly and most helpful, nothing was to much trouble. Service at breakfast was first class and meals served hot and well cooked. Although you are not overlooking the lake as the hotel is hidden behind an inn it is only a few yards walk to the lakeside. We stayed at the Regent for 2 nights with our dog as a base whilst trying out a few of the walks along Angletarn Pikes. The hotel was a great choice and I would recommend it as a place to stay in Ambleside, although slightly out of the town centre its only a 2 min drive up the road. We did debate whether to stay in the town or by the lake but decided […] to go for the lake option which we would do again. The hotel was clean, tidy, comfortable, modern and in a good location with parking. The staff were very friendly and there always seemed to be plenty of them about, especially at breakfast. We couldn't fault breakfast, there was lots of choices and the cooked breakfast was delicious, the staff came round constantly asking if you want more coffee or more toast. As for taking the dog with us the Regent was very dog friendly, even put a bone in the dog bowl for our arrival, there is a pet shop directly across the road for any items you may have forgotten which is very handy. Overall we would recommend the Regent to anyone looking for a good base in the lakes, especially those looking for a great dog friendly hotel. Les mer

The hotel was nice and the reception staff pleasant and helpful. We upgraded to a garden room and that was very nice although I would be curious to see a standard room to see what was particularly special about the garden room. Our only problem was the staff at breakfast. Both mornings we didn't get what we asked for (off the menu) and had to wait while […] they went back to get it, obviously that's not a massive concern it was just a bit annoying and we felt it was such a simple thing to get wrong. Other than that, no problems, lovely location, nice hotel. We both said we'd like to go back to the Lake District but would try somewhere else just because there's so much choice. Les mer

Location excellent - a few yards from the lake and boat departure point.All of the staff we encountered were well trained and pleasant. The choice of breakfast was the best we have come across in any hotel. No parking problems which is a big plus. We stayed over the bank holiday weekend with another couple and really enjoyed the hotel. The service was excellent and the decor is modern but comfortable and the breakfasts were really good. Really Good Hotel right on the lake. Nice decor, great staff and a 10 minute walk into Ambleside Centre. Breakfast was superb with the added bonus that you can have it until 12:00; so when the weather is bad, you can have a much needed sleep in first!!

Nice hotel, very quiet, which is what we wanted, lovely room well prepared. We had one of the garden rooms which helped the peace and quiet as it was away from the road. Was a little bit of repair work going on but didn't interfere with our stay. Breakfast was good and substantial, served until 12noon which was a good idea for us. It is a good 10 minute […] walk into Ambleside, which even though is along a main road is quite poorly lit at night. We didn't eat at the hotel as we were visiting others who had arranged alternatives. Overall a nice hotel would recommend a stay Les mer

Excellent Location in lovely surroundings. Very comfortable room. Friendly and helpful staff. Good food and service. Plenty of parking facilities. Thoroughly enjoyable stay and very likely to stay again. Certain areas did need some redecoration.

The hotel was right on the lake and within walking distance of the shops and restaurants in Ambleside. The room was comfortable, clean and had nice decor. The breakfast in the morning was delicious and there was quite a range to choose from all included in the price if you are bed and breakfast. Nice romantic getaway!

I was charmed being on the edge of lake windermere, and the surrounding views of the mountains made the location lovely, the room was comfortable, clean and well maintained. the breakfast in the mornings was something i relished! and can recommend the kippers, the hotel is obviously situated in the middle of the lakes so is convenient for surrounding […] visits for walks and other activities. and would not hesitate to go back. A great location for exploring the lakes, whetehre by foot or car. Hotel was comfortable and the staff friendly and helpful. The great plus is the relaxed breakfast which is served from 08 00 to 12 00. Splendid selection of dishes (I recommend the kippers). So you can lie in or have an early morning walk. Dinner however was a bit more rushed. The […] food was good in quality and price but our main course arrived as we were only just finishing our starter. That aside I recommend the Regent as a splendid place to stay to enjoy the Lake district. Les mer

I have to say this was one of the best hotels i've ever stayed in, and really think it should be classed higher then a 3 star! We had the sail loft room, with its own private decking area overlooking lake windermere. It was absolutely beautiful and i just wish i had been able to stay for longer. The room was stunning, and the service even better. We'd […] go to the bar to order some drinks and they would deliver them direct to us on the decking area of our room - i've never had service like this before. The girls who worked reception and the restaurant were the friendliest i've ever met and really couldn't do more for you. I just cant wait to get back to the Lake District to stay there again!! ideal postion for leaving the car on the car park and walking easy access to the center of ambleside without being inn the bustle of the town lot of walks start from this hotel pier just across the road to access other places lovely lakeside view modern decor rooms bed not as comfortable as the one at home but still after walking inthe fresh air all […] day not much rocking needed only had breakfast at hotel which was very nice good choice served till 12o'clock only down side currently there is ongoing work to extend the front of the hotel our room was on the front so mon tues morninng there was no chance of a lie in this will probably be finished within the next 3-4 weeks Les mer

the stay of three days was very relaxing despite the fact that the whole area was covered with deep snow. The main roads were clear. The hotel was very warm both in the bedrooms and the public rooms. We were pleasantly surprised by this hotel, location opposite the lake windermere was a lovely view. A 15 min walk to ambleside village and onto the local waterfalls was enjoyable despite the weather. We had dinner and the hotel and could honestly not fault the attentive service.
