Our stay was ok, paid for an executive room which I would have classed as standard, and a large double bed, which turned out to be two singles pushed together, so wasn't happy about that for the price really, the hotel said it had room service but there were no menus in the room or times it was on till, a bit disappointed really.

Used this hotel many times over the last 12 years each time we have realised its going down , but this time will be the last ever ,the enterance and the lift of the hotel are disgusting it dosen't give a good impression as you enter. It is such ashame as the location of the hotel is good, right in the centre of Southport. I know it is a old hotel but […] it should be cleaned ,walking around the side to the car park needed a good brushing and jet hosing while walking from the hotel to the car park we noticed many cigarette ends and pigioen droppings, absoloutley disgraceful. Our room was dated, but tidy, until I opened the window and it was more then disgusting the most horrible sight me and my friends had ever seen, the outside window sill was covered in bird droppings, it was horrible. It was not a couple of days or weeks dirty, much more like 1 to 2 years, it was so bad I would suggest scraping it all of and blasting it. So good bye Scarisbrick forever. Les mer

A very good hotel is marred by the proximity of a nightclub which necessitated a change of room My daughter is a light sleeper and had a very sleepless night. The day staff recectified the situation the next day, The facilities at the hotel are very recomendable., especially the leisure centre

I believe that the hotel hase recently been taken over by on of the large chains. It could do with modernising as although clean and tidy it looked dated.

Room was basic but clean. Main section of hotel would benefit from redecoration. Food in the evening was poor and breakfast was stone cold. Noise from a neighbouring disco kept me awake until 4am. Highly suspect drinks were watered down. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone

Probably great place to stay for tourists to Southport but not for business as very noisy until late at night. Disappointing bathroom and no soap!

great location on lord street with all the shops and beach very close ,staff helpful ,food great, some work being done but did not affect us ,good value would stay again

Quiet, clean and comfortable room. Hotel is undergoing improvements and expansion, no discernible disruption other than restaurant upgraded FOC to the Cloisters restaurant, good breakfast and very helpful staff.

My stay at the Scarisbrick Hotel was very comofrtable, a little noisy on the Monday evening until around 1am due to "in house bar" remaining open. My main disappointment after understanding from the information i received following my boking that full use of the Leisure Suite was included, this was not the case and i was charged £4 per day (or £10 for […] the week) towel hire was an additional £1 Apparently from August 2011 when Britannia Hotels took over, guest were made to pay for use of these facilities. I paid my fee and have to say the quality of these facilities was to a very high standard but i just wish the information i was given had been correct. Breakfast was just amazing. Had a nice stay for 2 days, Hotel is located in the center of town, Very clean. and freindly.

Nice reception, good room, lovely bar with reasonable priced drinks.Fantastic breakfast.

This hotel is in a fantastic location for all shops etc, the car park is also free to guests, it is in need of some modernisation, shower was broken, TV was situated so you could not watch it from the bed..... but overall good value for money

We have stayed at the Scarisbrick Hotel before, as this hotel offers good value for money, the staff are polite, helpful, the food and service at the Cloisters very good, and as a result we enjoyed our stay overall. The room was over looking Lord Street and we found ourselves with a panoramic view of the Christmas Light switch on and Parade. We stayed one night on a special deal and you really couldnt fault the hotel The staff were very helpful , the breakfast was first class and the room was warm and comfy Value for money was outstanding -look out for the special deals - they are well worth it

noisy dirty mattress needs complete makeover disgusting worst holiday ever

Was disappointed in quality of this hotel, very dated and smelt old! was in penthouse which was very spacious but old fashioned. Carpets needed replacing and the 2 sofashad seen better days (1 had a rip in and other badly stained). Breakfast was poor first morning burnt bacon and not a great deal of choice, 2nd morning bait better. Some of the staff […] were stern, helpful but couldn't seem to crack a smile. The swimming pool is not free we had to pay £12 for 2 adults and 2 children, we chose this hotel for use of the facilities, also you have to go out the hotel or through a busy bra to get the the pool. Southport is a nice place, however like most places there are some not so nice places!!! There is a lane next to this hotel which has a numbermof bars and it can be noisy on a night. The 2 nights we stayed a number of guests were kept up all night from fights breaking out in the said lane, sirens all night. Basically I don't feel this hotel does what it says on the tin!!! I enjoyed the stay overall, however, during my stay the female receptionists as a whole were unfriendly. Due to sudden work commitment changes I booked the Hotel a day earlier by phone and the Receptionist must have been a temp as she was most helpful, although she admitted that she did not know how to work the computer system and would leave a note. However, […] on arrival the fulltime receptionist told me she had disposed of my early phone booking note as she, “did not understand or agree the price I was quoted”, which, I must admit I thought it was for the additional one night only at such short notice, and not the total of three nights. However, as there was still availability, I needed a place to stay, and a queue was forming I agreed to pay what was a very reasonable rate anyway, on the Receptionist part it was lot of fuss over nothing. The Breakfast overall was pretty good, despite wide spread confusion over aged Tea and Coffee flasks already randomly placed on some tables! Other Guests I spoke with complained of over hot rooms above the pool area and night club street noise, I suppose you must expect noise as a trade off with a town centre Hotel. My room was pretty quiet. I was impressed by the security guard who noticed that my sticking door had not closed properly when he passed on his rounds, for which I am very grateful. Overall with the exception of the Receptionist on my visit a good Hotel at a very reasonable price. Les mer

Uncleaned rooms, careless staff, unapologetic, slow service

I was brought up in Southport & left in 2004. On the occasions that I visit I use different hotels. This visit was brief, just one night. I chose the Scarisbrick Hotel because it is right in the middle of town. The Scarisbrick (or 'Brick' as it is known locally) was always the hub of the town. In addition to it once being a first class hotel, it houses […] a number of bars. For years it was the meeting place for people of all ages and had a feeling of prestige. Now is a very different story. Once privately owned & managed, it has now been swallowed up by the Britannia group. Britannia now own two of the biggest hotels in Southport, the 'Brick' & the Prince of Wales. The have run both into the ground. During my (thankfully) brief stay I observed the following: Poor attention to cleanliness, shabby & outdated decor & poor food. My room (331) was on the top floor. It is a single room containing a single bed, a dressing table, a suitcase stand & a TV & has an adjoining en-suite. The carpet was old, stained & quite dirty. The decor was old fashioned & shabby. Despite being on the top floor, the window opened fully & there was no guard, one would assume that this is a breach of health & safety. My view was of an ally that was full of dustbins & a meeting place for drunks. The bathroom again was dated & shabby. There was no proper shower, just a bath with a mixer shower. The water temperature went from cold to scald & back again rapidly. The breakfast was typical Britannia. Tepid food stewing in bain-maries. The fruit juices were made from concentrate & even the toast was piled up in a bain-marie. The choice of fruit consisted of tinned mandarin oranges. Having previously stayed at the Prince of Wales Hotel, this latest experience of Britannia run establishments has affirmed my decision never to use one of their hotels again. Les mer

Staff were courteous, but were very harrassed/stressed due to the hotel being quite busy. Room was clean but the bed was extremely uncomfortable. Rooms were not sound proof not only from the busy Southport nightlife (until 4am) but also from neighbouring guests. The location of the hotel is great but would only recommend it if you were planning on being […] part of the nightlife until early hours. Found the restaurant a bit dissappointing, leaflet in room made it sound like a restaurant however, upon arrival, where we were asked to pay upfront, we discovered it was a help yourself buffet of not very good food and not much choice. Breakfast was decent though. The room and hotel was tired in it's decor, it's a shame as it could be a lovely hotel if it was rennovated properly. It served it's purpose as a B and B for the night but was not value for money, needless to say I will not stay here again. Les mer

We stayed for one night last week and found this hotel to be very comfortable. It is in the centre of town which is very handy for all the shops and within easy walking to the beach and promenade. The breakfast was super and we would return and have no hesitation in recommending to friends.

Once grand old hotel - now needs a facelift. Excellent food and service - very helpful staff.

Very nice hotel, centrally located. Staff very pleasant. Breakfast was very good. The only thing that I could fault is some music playing from a nearby bar until the early hours, this no fault of the hotel. Enjoyed our stay.

The title says it all. The room was stifling, for no obvious reason - the radiator and towel rail were off. When I opened the wimdows to try to cool down we discovered it was above the street where the nightlife of Southport takes place - there was a racket until 4 in the morning. The bed was a small double and was uncomfortable. On the plus side the […] breakfast was good and the location, on Lord Street, is fine. Les mer

I can't complain much about the Scarisbrick Hotel. The location is very central to Southport. I got a great rate and it performed its function of bed and breakfast. It is going for a classical look in many of its areas - complete with classical music in the stairwell - but mixed in with a traditional pub and a night club that also led off the reception. […] There was a fitness club attached, but I can't really comment as I didn't try that. There was a live pianist one night in a bar by the restaurant which I thought was a great touch. I liked the buffet breakfast too. The room did feel a bit in need of a refurbish and the bed sagged a bit on one side. It was not that it was not clean, but just quite dated looking and some bits were a bit tatty. For the rate I paid, it was absolutely fine as I think you have to face some compromise if you shop for deals only. However, if I had paid the rate that was printed on the board in their reception for a single, I would've been a bit disappointed I think. Les mer

this hotel is very very central slap in the middle of lord street the main shopping street. we were lucky to get a place in the hotel car park which is at the rear of the hotel it is very small there is a car park near by but it would be quite costly if you were there for the week. the hotel is much larger than it seems from the outside. the hotel is […] family owned and i was pleasantly surprised how well maintained and staffed it was. we were three ladies (young pensioners) 1 stayed on the first floor her room was large and spacious and clean they all have tea,coffee, hot chocolate and yummy biscuits an iron and ironing board and hair dryer my friend and i were on the fourth floor again a very spacious pleasant room. the dining room is lovely on the first floor overlooking the main street. breakfast had a huge selection and there were lots of staff to bring you tea/coffee toast etc., table set lovely with nice linen.evening meal which was included in our tariff was 3 courses a very varied menu and quite large portions. there is a pleasant bar opposite the dining room where you can have a drink before and after dinner. in the basement there is a well equipped gym and a swimming pool with jacuzzi again very well maintained and staffed the train station is located 5 minute walk away we caught the train to liverpool they run during the day every 20 minutes and it takes 40 minutes to get to the centre of liverpool it really is not worth taking the car as the station is very central in liverpool. i would not hesitate to recommend this lovely, family run hotel Les mer

Rooms are pretty tired, staff quite pleasant but the NOISE at night is dreadful. Four nights spent here and rowdy every night. There is no quiet room in this hotel as most of the noise permeates from the hotel's own bar/disco, which is on the ground floor and goes on until 3 or 4am. No point in complaining as the hotel are perpetrators of the NOISE. […] They invite people to stay in their hotel at some cost, and then keep them awake at night while they take money from ther local youngsters. This is not a good place to be !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Les mer

This hotel was a nightmare - to start with the parking was limited and once shown to room there was a huge yellow bucket sitting in the room to catch a continuous drip. the smell was musty and the room looked like it was set in a time warp. When we went to complain my husband showed one of the managers to the room while myself and the kids stayed in […] the lobby to overhear a conversation with another member of staff and the maintenance man - which continued like the following can you not fix the roof no he replied it has been like this for a few months!!!! - and did house keeping not lift the bucket before the guest arrived!!!!! Upon returning to the reception the manager agreed to refund and said sorry felt this was a bit vague considering we had travelled 31/2 hours in the car to get to the hotel we then had to turn round head back to Liverpool to find alternative accommodation which would suit the children at 4pm in the afternoon - NIGHTMARE would not advise anyone to stay here!!!! We had an excellent four day break at The Scarisbrick Hotel the rooms where clean and comfortable and hotel service was great with freindly efficient staff. Meals served in the restaurants were delicious and resonably priced. Bar snacks also were great value for moneyand the wide selection of drinks easliy affordable .The hotel is in the heart of Southport […] the shops and local amenties all within walking distance. We had a wonderful experience and would highly recommend. Les mer
