No amenities-just a small bar of soap and 2 small towels. Way overpriced, especially on the weekend, for what you get. Outside of hotel looks clean, but inside rooms are cramped and dirty. Will not be staying there ever again.

The rooms weren't bad just didn't feel clean at all. We thought it would be walking distance to the boardwalk but it wasn't . Also in a sketchy part of town so we didn't sleep well

When I First Got There I Was Disappointed, But The Room Grows On You. You Basically Pay For What You Get. The Hotel HaS Allot Of People Living There Permanently. The Surrounding Neighborhood Is Guetto But It Is Really Close Top The Board Walk.

When I arrived, the hotel was having problems with its wi-fi. This made my stay annoying since I only stay at hotels that have free wi-fi. They claimed that it was being fixed, because they were changing service providers. They even pointed out a man who was supposed to be the repairman, but the service did not change. The wi-fi was temperamental and […] often did not work. The lady behind the desk was very kind understanding and personable and she was the person who made my stay positive. I did have encounters with the owner and I could tell she just doesn't care anymore. She's tired and perhaps used to complaints. I understand her plight, but my advice is to then get out of the business. I know running a motel must be hard, but then you have to make some choices about whether you want to stay in business. My advice to the owner is to quit while she still can. In the end you get what you pay for and this place is cheap. If you can put up with spotty service and an uneven quality of rooms, then this place is worth it. I probably won't be staying there again. Les mer

Warning! Do not check-in. Unless you can handle following. Bad smells, intersecting traffic noise, dirty towels, sagging beds, dirty n noisy air fans, people smoking n talking loud outside hallway. We had to getout 1:00am, it was worst experience.

The gal that checked us in was sweet as pie and very helpful. Once we checked in we went to the beach; when we return we tried to use the free wifi that the hotel advertised but it did not work in our room. The owner/manager rudely stated that it was working in the office and that our only option was to move to a room on the opposite side of the hotel, […] so we decided to just go without internet. The next morning I took my service dog out to use the bathroom; I was absolutely shocked to see that the motel had no where for dogs to use the bathroom. I eventually found a bark covered area in the front of the motel that my dog could use. The owner/manager came out in her pajamas screaming that my dog could not pea there. I stormed off because at this point everything that the motel had advertised from free wifi to being pet friendly was obviously a lie just to get patrons. Upon checking out I was again confronted by the owner/manager stating that I had not registered my dog, which I had. I showed her my dogs service dog ID and informed her that the gal that checked us in knew about the dog and had seen her ID tag, so it was not my fault if she failed to note it on the chart. Needless to say I will NEVER stay at this motel again. Santa Cruz was awesome, but this motel SUCKED. PS... My feet stuck to the floor every time I took a step and the bath tub was obviously not clean. Les mer

at check in our room was not clean whatsoever. the bed linens hadn't been changed [but the bed was made!!!], the toilet hadn't been cleaned and there was only one [USED] towel in the bathroom. when we asked to have our linens changed, the front desk was incredibly rude to us. after we went out around town for the evening, we came back to vomit all over […] the stairs [which was never cleaned by any staff, by the way. I finally filled one of the rooms trash bins with water to wash it away], as well as a resident meth dealer asking if we wanted any of his stuff. the next night, I had to call 911 because 3 men were threatening each others life in front of my window. the police came & arrested the individuals. when I told the front desk about the incident, they were once again rude & did not care. this is a disgusting motel for drunk & druggie locals, please do not stay here! Very rude front desk lady would not even show her face just yelling from the back because we tried to check in early, she gave us the smallest room until we complained and got the next door room that was the same price ,and got an attitude when we did ask for the room exchange

Room smelled of smoke even though it was a "non-smoking" room. Cleanliness was questionable with various stains and garbage/waste left on the floor (artificial nail). Furniture was beat up and worn.

It's a place to stay, thats all. I asked for a ground floor room, they gave me 3rd floor and there were lots of vacant gound rooms available. Blankets have cigarette burn holes and knife slits in the no smoking room we had. No place to hang clothes. One towel for two people the thickness of a piece of paper. It was disappointing. We had a great rate at another hotel, Bay Front Inn (which was a much better establishment), but I had booked the wrong night (sigh), so I had to take what I could get at the last minute - Santa Cruz Hotel. It was not at all up to our standards or expectations, although, the people running it were on the ball and sweet. It's just […] THE VERY BARE BONES! Two, thin, small towels & not even a washcloth. It was tiny, well-worn and cheap-feeling. I definitely wouldn't go back, although as I said, i can't fault the owner; she was efficient, competent and amiable. You get what you paid for. Considering the area and the cost of things in Santa Cruz, I consider this hotel a bargin. I have been a repeat customer as I have found it a good value for the price and I have reason to come for work almost weekly. The rooms are basic, no frills rooms that are clean and comfortable. The only thing that it could use is a […] place to hang clothes. Although not important to me, many will find its proximity to the beach and Boardwalk very attractive. Occasional road and guest noise is mildly annoying but overall no real complaints. Again, for the price a very good value Les mer

Hotel is old and run down, but can charge a lot because it is within walking distance to the beach boardwalk. But it was available when we needed it, so I am grateful.

The place was a dump for the most part. the towels were thin and worn. The sheets and blanket on the bed was also thin and worn. One night we we woken up by screaming and yelling coming from the room downstairs, I was waiting for gunshots. It was close to the boardwalk that is it's only plus. The Expedia ad said it had a continental breakfast but there was none offered. The smokers would stand right outside their rooms and smoke and it would carry into our nonsmoking room. There was no closet rod or place to set up a suitcase. Had to use the bathroom vanity. Very dingy and in disrepair.

They had not towels when we got there at 2, because they were washing them. The rooms are small and beds uncomfortable. For the price we paid, there were a lot of bums and traffic nearby. When we asked for towels, they did not supply us with enough, so I had to share a towel with my 2 children! No iron, refrigerator...old!

The rooms are in poor condition and very small. The shower was like standing in front of a fire hose. there were cigereete butts on the ground, steps and in the hallwaystowels are worn so thin you can see though them. The TV remote had no battery door so the batteries kept falling out. I would NOT reccomend this place to my worst enemy!

Yuck! For the price I paid through Expedia, I expected a lot more! For any price I would have at least expected non-stained, non-ripped towels! Even the pillow cases had stains! For the price the stay was good. It would of been nice to stay another night for the same price but when I asked the lady in the office if she could give me the same rate she said the rate was higher. So we chose to not stay another night. I could not see paying anymore than what we paid to stay there.

Dirty dirty dirty. Worst sleep I've ever had due to the domestic violence in another room. Parties in the parking lot. Loud music. People coming & going at odd hours. Did I mention dirty??? We actually went to cvs & blunt a can of lysol disinfectant spray and drenched the room. Never again am I staying there let alone recommending this place to my friends […] & family!!!!! Still itching from bad bed bugs one week later. Not a great area, not great walking distance to anywhere, poor amenities and rooms. Felt a tad third world. Very dissappointing & WOULD NOT recommend to anyone - not even for 1 night stopover! & certainly not for any longer.

Our first room had a broken TV and was very short on space - so they gave us another room which was much roomier and the TV worked! The street was noisy outside and the beds were not very comfortable

The room was costly for what it was. I've had nicer rooms at embassy suites for the same price. The linen was a polyester blend and I itched all night. Other than the location, it's notvtgsr great of a hotel. Surrounding hotels have in room jacuzzis and cost less. Definitely staying st one of the other ones next time

Couldn't have been more disappointed or terrified in one night. I've stayed in not so fancy places before, but there is NOTHING comparable to this dump. It should honestly be burnt down; don't believe me? Type in "Motel Santa Cruz" on Google and see the 15 reviews that literally explain how our experience was. From the unprofessional service, dirty […] room with gang writing and stains everywhere, to loud neighbors (99% sure it was a drug deal), to the loud traffic... we slept with the TV on until 5 am to TRY and drown out the noises from the neighbors/streets. Walls are so thin I swore someone was in my room. DO NOT STAY HERE unless you don't mind prostitutes and drug deals going on outside of your CUT screens on the windows that don't even lock all the way. Burn the place down. Would've rather stayed in a tent. I almost want to complain to Expedia for even having such an awful place on their list... all this coming from a person who can't stand people who are picky/write reviews. Les mer

The inside was 10X worse than the outside. Just to mention a few items there was hair on the pillows, the sheets were dirty, and there was holes in the wall...ewwww, eeeewwww! Slept in my car instead!

This Hotel was way to expensive for all the horrible things about it. The people at the front desk didnt speak english. I ordered a non smoking queen room and got a smoking room with I guess you might call a queen but didnt feel like a queen felt like a full. WE walk into the room and there were covered paint spot where holes resided then walked into […] the bathroom lets just say you would never want to use there bathroom. There was a hole in the door and a whole in the wall where you sit on the toilet. Then in the shower there was used soap bar still in the shower so it had not been cleaned. I went to put the towel on the floor to clean up the water the dog drank from and there was makeup all over the towel and the girl who came to bring us new towels said "No its clean you put it on the floor no new towel just put on floor". Then she rolled her eyes at us when we told her about the soap in the shower and she said shower clean its just stains from shower. I did not shower in that place bugs could of came out for all I know. The room smelled so bad when we went to open the window there was no screen so people could of just came in and robbed us. It is a good thing we brought our own blankets because the ones they have had not been washed they stunk so bad it make you want to throw up. WE went to use our tv and the remote doesn't work so you have to use the buttons on the TV which I can live with but still very inconvenient. I wish I could get my money back so bad or a cheaper rate it was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. I would never recommend this place. The only good thing about this place is you could see the boardwalk from our side other then that it was nasty oh and they accept dogs good thing only reason why we stayed there. Les mer

The location was central and close to the boardwalk. Staff was nice and made every effort to keep the noise level down. The rooms were small. No hair dryers bring your own.

I am used to stay in cheap motels, but this place was just horrible. It was dirty, the bed was sunken in the middle, the pillows were horrible, the towels were so thin they wouldn't do the job , the street was really noisy. The place was very dirty, smelled bed, and to have an idea the soap in the bathroom was already used. When we found a new, sealed […] soap, it broke into a million pieces, horrible soap. I don't mind cheap, but this was way too much. Plus, it wasn't cheap at all, the weekend we stay was very busy, they were having a marathon in Santa Cruz, so we paid a very high amount, but still cheaper compared to other hotels in the same city on that weekend. I strongly suggest to pay a little more to stay at least in a more decent place. This was terrible! Les mer

bad hotel...was scared to stay there deadbolt was broken off like somebody had busted the door in...room wasnt advirtised correctly...was a dump...do not go there...i could have stayed at my other hotel for 5 dollars more but wanted to try something different ...ugh...waste of money
