Det var stor forsell på rommene vi fikk. Det ene var ok på alle måter, mens det andre hadde en inngangsdør som så vidt lot seg åpne og lukke. Og i gangen var det litt dårlig lukt, samt at det ikke var særlig varmt på badet. Rommene er utstyrt med lokalt aircondisionagregat, og dtte medfører endel støy. Videre virker restaurant og bar "litt kalde" og ikke så alt for trivelige. Et pluss for gode senger og masse puter for dem som liker dette.

Hotellet har en fin beliggenhet nede ved sjøkanten og i direkte forbindelse med et fint gangsystem langs bryggene, og samtidig nært til Norfolks trivelige bysentrum. Betjeningen er hyggelig og hjelpsom.

"Billig alternativ."
Vi bodde 5 dager på dette hotellet. Rommet har atkomst fra svalgang og er av vanlig amerikansk standard. Hotellet er beliggende i annen rekke fra stranden, litt langt mot nord, men med hyggelige omgivelser. Bassenget er lite for voksne, men ok for mindre barn. my room was remodeled, however my daughters room was not and it smelled bad, that lady at the front was very nice about it and gave her another room. It is located in a great quite area, however the outside just needs a new look. It did serve its purpose, laying my head down. not too sure if i will stay there again

the location and price were okay.the room was a little small.I was truly disappointed with the bathroom. the bathroom was cramped and no bigger than a closet. for a short stay it will suffice.

"Royal Clipper"
The Royal Clipper Inn and Suites is a decent small hotel. My only complaint was having cold showers. Water @ the sink was warm/hot but shower water was cold. Other then that, service was good, was clean and comfortable with safe in room for valuables. But for the price I paid for room was a good value!
"Average Motel in a Not-So Average Location"
My boyfriend and I spent three nights at the Royal Clipper. The motel is in a great spot- a two minute walk from the beach, which we could see out of our window. There were a few great restaurants nearby as well, and the boardwalk was great for a morning stroll. The room itself was small-ish. Pros: the bed was super comfortable and the room featured […] a mini-fridge and a microwave as well as a safe. It was relatively quiet- we couldn't hear any people but with the NAS so close by you could definitely hear jets overhead. Also, there is some construction going on close by and during the day you there was some minor noise, but they should be wrapping that up by the spring of 2012 (So the signs say). Cons: the bathroom is extremely tiny. No room to change or anything, and the sink is outside of the bathroom. The maid replaced our soap/shampoo/conditioner every single morning, which seemed kinda wasteful. She also came by around 9am, which is a bit early if you ask me. The elevator smelled pretty funky, and while the place has a pool it's pretty teeny. Parking was free though, and there were washers/dryers on site, and the check-in process was simple. All staff-persons I encountered were very friendly and helpful. Overall, it's great if you're looking to save some money and don't anticipate spending much time there. Les mer

Just was down for a quick weekend and wanted something easy on my pockets but also clean. There was a huge hole in the ceiling around the sprinkler,a young guy at the front desk who was very unprofessional and taked very vulgar to us! Def would not stay there again
"RCI&S--No need for car; walked or biked"
We really like the Boardwalk for walking and biking for the pleasure of the view and access to all place near the Pacific/Atlantic corridor. It just happens that where we spend the most time at Va. Beach is within a quarter mile of the Royal Clipper. It was great....no car; kept it parked the whole time. One thing that made the room less comfortable […] was the thin walls. Noise from adjoining room(s)did wake us up both nights for about 20 or 30 minutes. My wife and I laughed it off and eventually went back to a nice sleep. Les mer
"Great little place 1 block from the beach"
This was nicer than I expected for one of those little places tucked in between all the hi-rises. Very recommended for the price for a family stay. The suite was roomy, with a full kitchen. Rooms were clean, no odor. Beds were comfortable. No elevator, but that was not a problem for us.

we were lucky and got the room behind the wall so the bright sun could not effect the temperature of the room, it was very hot outside, great location, everything in walking distance, room was adiquate, if you actually value the things outside its a great spot

Great location - cross the street and you're on the boardwalk. Bathrooms with toilet and shower are teeny tiny. Sink and large counter space located outside the bathroom are OK, but we had ants crawling around the sink. Pool is also OK but pretty small. For the money this was an outstanding hotel, great location, friendly staff, and juice/coffee available all day. If you're going to the beach and on a budget this is the place to go in my mind

If you are looking for a okay family hotel the Royal Clipper Inn works,they have lots of space for a family. There was a double bed pull out couch small kitchen and then a back double bed. I traveled with my family and the space worked well. It is right accross from beach.

The hotel is in a great location, altho most of the ocean view is blocked by the Sheraton across the street. The pool is small and limited to 12 people. The rooms were ok, very tiny bathrooms. Great price for the location.

"An interesting experience"
Hotel is conveniently located and the rooms are clean, but the exterior/hallways are quite old and rough. Our door (and the surrounding 4 doors) didn't have a number on it, the toilet didn't work and had to have maintenance called in, and most lights were out permanently. The staff were super nice and hospitable and the hotel is located near plenty […] of food, bars, shops, and the beach. Just needs to be cleaned up a bit. Oh, and the pool is quite small, so if that's a perk for you don't get too excited. Les mer

"Great location - great room"
Just blocks from the beach and the main stage this hotel has a great location. The room was wonderful. Being on the second floor there was a little noise from the indoor pool but otherwise it was a great stay.
"Next To the Beach but only one room with a view"
If the absurdly overpriced Sheraton hotel on Atlantic Ave blocking the view of the ocean weren't there this hotel would be so much better. Anyway, the workers all seemed very kind, friendly, and approachable. The hotel is more of a motel and it's hopping with activity because of it's location. The rooms are quiet ,(the only noise you can hear is the […] war planes flying above), but old. Everything was clean, but because it's old and heavily trafficked, it didn't feel as clean as I would have liked for the price. But then again, it's location is perfect and even though the prices are high, they're much more reasonable in comparison to the big corporate hotels. So, a mixed review. Would I go back? Sure, maybe. I stayed in the royal clipper inn when my fiance came down to see me and it was really nice. its close to all the bars and resturants and a street over from the beach so everything is right there. the only complaint was parking we had to cars and could only park on on the lot so you could either pay 20 dollars a day to park in a garage or try and find […] a free on a couple blocks away. "Nice for the price"
Nice enough motel, the price was right, beach was right across the street, and a short walk to bar scene area. Pretend there is no pool, unless you have small children. Don't try and fit more than 2 to a room, beds are full not queens.

My daughter and I enjoyed our stay at the Royal Clipper Inn very much. The location is fantastic. The beach was right across the street and it is near lots of shops and restaurants. "Good value"
I stayed here with my wife and 1 yr old son. The room was clean but small. The bathroom was really small but the shower was clean and the water pressure was great. The place was quiet at night. We went to bed pretty early each night and didn't hear much going on outside our room. Except for the Jet Noise that is common to VA beach. The beds are hard […] as others have mentioned but I like a hard bed. My wife didn't like the room only because she wanted to be pampered at a nicer hotel. I reminded her we were on a budget. "VA. BEACH ROYAL CLIPPER"
Hotel was really nice, clean, updated furnishings. The bathroom was tight, as was stated in reviews, but it worked. Happy to have the hair dryer, and iron and ironing board - not usually provided! Plenty of towels, new soap, shampoo, conditioner every day - 1 block from the water - we were very pleased. BUT - the construction of new hotel right accross […] the street, starting as early as 7 AM - SUCKED!!! Drilling, hammering, trucks - VERY early in AM. I know it can't be controlled, and it must inconvenience alot of hotels, but we came for peace and rest, and that was not possible past 7:30 AM! Les mer
"Good location, not great place to stay"
When we arrived, the bathroom was dirty and the toilet seat was really nasty. The (there's only one) ice machine never had ice, and the front desk said that's because people fill up their coolers. Move the ice machine into the lobby so you can control this. The staff was friendly, but the hotel itself (motel? Outside entrance) was run down. Fridge/microwave/dvd […] player for the tv were a nice touch, and hotel was convenient to the beach/shopping in Va Bch. Overall, I probably wouldn't return to this location. Les mer
"For the money, I expected more"
It's an older hotel, but they've obviously put money into updating it and keeping the rooms somewhat nice. The rooms were also clean. Excellent wifi. DVD player in the room. No coffee maker in the room was an issue for me (but free coffee and juice in the lobby 24/7). The bathroom was the size of a closet. I either had to straddle the toilet or stand […] in the shower to close the door. Noisy area, and walls that don't really block it out. The pool is basically a large bathtub located outside. Good thing the beach is a short walk away. Sadly the clientèle were the main thing I disliked about this hotel. Thug wannabes constantly hanging out on the balconies yelling to each other and staring me down and eying up my luggage whenever I came and went. Some idiot testing doorknobs in the middle of the night. blech... Couldn't wait to leave the next morning. Thanks to the construction across the street, we were woken up at 7am sharp, so leaving was not a problem. I think the most disappointing part is that I paid a similar amount to what I've paid for 3 and 4 star hotels in other areas. I know that there was a premium for being near the beach in a popular tourist area during the summer vacation season, but I really was expecting something nicer for the price. Les mer

The Royal Clipper was a great place for me and my family. Our rooms were comfortable, were super close to the beach and shops, and the pool was fun when we tired of the sand and surf! We stayed the week before school let out, so nothing was too crowded, but there were concerts and an art show along the boardwalk. The staff at the hotel were all courteous […] and personable. "Great Value"
The Royal Clipper Inn & Suites was a great value for our mid-June vacation. The staff allowed us to check in early and offered us juice and coffee. After reading some reviews online, it sounded like the pool was closed for the summer, but we were pleasantly surprised to find it was open when we arrived. Our room as clean. There were plenty of towels […] and supplies. The shower was on the smaller size but still very nice. No bed bugs or anything like that, which we feared before arriving. The location is perfect -- very close to the beach, shops, restaurants, etc. You may not have an oceanfront view, but you're still right there at the beach (less than a block from the beach). The location of the hotel felt very safe. When we checked out (which consisted of me giving my name and handing over the room key and took all of 10 seconds), the staff offered to allow our car to be kept in their parking lot for the day to enjoy the beach and surrounding area. The only negatives were that there was no wireless Internet provided by the hotel, but it wasn't difficult to find a hotspot in Virginia Beach. Also, the beds weren't very comfortable to us (though if you like an extra-firm bed, you'll feel right at home). Overall, we had an enjoyable stay. We were surprised with the value we got for the cleanliness and location of the hotel. Les mer
"A Decent Stay"
Overall, I had a decent stay at The Royal Clipper Inn. The hotel staff members were extremely friendly and helpful. The room was pretty clean, although the beds were a bit hard and the bedding was somewhat old. I only really had two complaints. Their wireless internet did not work, but they gave me an ethernet cable to plug in, and then the internet […] worked just fine. Also, I found a LOT of hairs in the towels, which is soooooo gross. If I stay here again, I'll probably just bring my own towels. I didn't use the pool, but it is a bit on the small side. But the hotel is located in a great location, one block from the beach, right by numerous restaurants and shops, and there is a stop for the bus right out front. Overall, if you are looking for a decent place to stay close to the beach, this is the perfect fit for you. Les mer

Very satisfied with employees politeness and assistance. Manager Brian did all he could to accommodate us. Elevator was malfunctioning so we got exorcise on the stairs but staff were trying to fix it. Overall very happy with our stay.
