Vi var 2 venninner som bodde på Ibis Holloway i 3 netter. Vi valgte hotellet fordi det var billig og det nærmeste hotellet til 02 Academy hvor vi skulle på konsert. Vi hadde ingen store forhåpninger til standarden på hotellet, men ble positivt overrasket. Store og åpne rom, god seng(vi hadde dobbelseng), stort bad og rengjøringen var bra. Hotellet er vel nesten et "motell", da alle rom har egen dør ut parkeringsplassen, men dette var bare positivt. Resepsjonen var veldig pen, og resepsjonistene var hyggelige og hjelpsomme. Maten kan jeg ikke kommentere, da vi ikke hadde inkludert frokost de dagene vi var der, men menyen viste at det var et godt utvalg 24 timer i døgnet. Sentralt beliggende, med gåavstand til New Street Station, Bullring Shopping centre, Broad Street og det meste Birmingham har å by på. Anbefales for alle som trenger et sentralt hotell i Birmingham!

"Ideal hotel for the NIA"
Rooms were very clean and comfortable. Door would not close properly but was sorted immediately after one phone call to reception. Breakfast was great and included in the price.
"Plough and Harrow - Fantastic Value!!"
I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel We stay in hotels frequently and normally use Holiday or Premier Inns. This hotel beat them all on price during our recent stay in Birmingham and was easily comparable to the big chains. The room was large, quiet, very clean and the bed was large and comfortable. The cooked breakfast was excellent […] and included in the price. The staff were, without exception, brilliant and couldn't do enough to help to make our stay comfortable. The hotel building is listed and full of character which makes a nice change - the public rooms were all very well-maintained and elegant. Apparently J.R.R. Tolkien visited there in 1906! Minus points? Not many really, the room was a little cold but then it did snow while we were there, and bathroom was very warm went some way to compensate! The loo, whilst spotless, didn't flush too well, but when I reported this to reception she said that the rooms were going to be re-furbished soon which is great news, though there really isn't too much wrong with them as they are. Some of the corridors were a little dated as you went away from the main public areas, but it is an old building and otherwise everything was great. There was a wedding on while we were there which meant that the restaurant service was limited, but otherwise it didn't impact on our stay at all. Stay here - this place deserves your business! A lovely old building with some interesting architectural features in a convenient location, close to a variety of restaurants and places of entertainment. Warm, welcoming and reasonably priced. BAR STAFF AND BAR AREA FANTASTIC! SO DISAPPOINTED WITH BASIC ROOM AND DATED BATHROOM, WATER COLD AND TOILET TOOK MORE THAN 10 MINS TO REFILL. 300 YEAR OLD HOTEL DEFINATELY IN NEED OF DRAINAGE OVERHAUL.

Needed a hotel in this area for 1 night, found the Plough and Harrow, pleasantly surprised, staff all very pleasant, friendly. room larger than expected, although was a lated dated in built in furnishings, bed was comfortable and clean. will be staying there again in the near future. B.
"Plough & Harrow - a bygone era"
This hotel was one of the best hotels in Birmingham in the 1960's.Whilst still trying to retain the feel of a country house it is sadly now very dated. The lounge area is still impressive with comfy leather chairs and tables. The modern circular ceiling lampshades look totally out of place in such an area. The bedroom overlooked the garden and therefore […] away from the busy road noise. Comfortable bed and room adequate although furniture was very worn. Bathroom modernised to an extent but no soap, shower cap etc.. No complimentary mineral water in room or any newpaper offered. Breakfast was good as was the service. Convenient location for access to the city since the bus stops a few yards from the hotel and complimentary parking was a huge bonus. Having stayed at the hotel many times during the 60's, I was disappointed overall and now prefer a more modern hotel, better equipped. Les mer
"Nice restaurant but very dated and old"
The staff were friendly and helpful and the restaurant was nice but the room was very old and dated. The bed creaked and was a mix of different sized box spring and mattress which didn't fit properly. The bed was also on wheels and moved when you lay on it. Booked this hotel for the NEC, however, this is not a good location for the NEC as you have a dreadful drive through Birmingham each way during the week, weekends are ok. For the NEC you are better off staying nearer Coventry. Having said that, all the hotel staff were very pleasant and helpful, great full English breakfast if you can eat it and nice […] bar meals. Complementary internet which was good. Hotel is undergoing some room refurbishment and I had an old room which was very dated (Avocado bathroom suite!) apart from the TV. My colleague had a nice refurbished room which was much more pleasant. 10 Minutes walk to broad street and all that has to offer and a fab Indian restaurant across the road called Rose Murree excellent food but a little pricy than again you get what you pay for. I am aware of the location of the hotel (it's quite famous) but not the carpark. I travelled backwards from 5 Ways and still could not understand how to access it. I did a u-turn and passed the hotel but there's no clear sign for the car park! It took two attempts. Secondly, there's a boom gate in front of car park. The receptionist told me to simply […] approach it and it will lift... am I telepathic that I should know this? This sums up so much of Birmingham to me: real basic, sort of 'raised eyebrows' attitude. As in 'we know it, so everyone does.' Gorgeous receptionist though and lovely. Russian? Strange how one other member of staff seemed to be giving her a telling off in front of me however (dark hair, glasses). Should that have been done discretely? Hotel has lovely front edifice, all floodlit at night with blue plaque mentioning Tolkein. Where we stayed is SUCH an obviously tacked on bit at back though, complete with 'Alan Partridge' style convention rooms. Nice though, all in all I suppose. Les mer

The Plough and Harrow was a very clean, nice boutique hotel. Every staff member was very nice and anxious to please. The rooms were comfortable and breakfast was great. Price was very reasonable considering it included a full English breakfast. I can't believe we could have found a better value anywhere. We would highly recommend this hotel.

Have stayed here before - rooms are large, if a little tired, but plenty of cupboard space, trouser press and coffee making facilities. Own car park which is free. Very near to centre - could use public transport to centre. Amazing breakfast which was included for us - full continental or you can have a full english. Rooms at the back of the hotel […] are a bit of a trek for anyone with mobility problems so would be worth asking for a room nearest to the reception area, Would definitely stay again if price is right. Booked for convenience of work in the area. Staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms really need an upgrade but mine was spacious and clean. There is some road noise from some rooms and so double glazing in the upgrade would be good. Food plentiful and reasonable well cooked. Parking and convenient for the city centre. "Romantisk ophold i Birmingham."
Alt i alt er vi meget tilfredse med fejring af vores 10 års brylupsdag på dette hotel. Service i top, både i reception og ikke mindst i restauranten hvor vi spiste et udsøgt måltid! Da vi er rygere fik vi kaffen serveret udendørs! Det eneste vi savnede var mulighed for internet. vi kommer gerne tilbage.
