Christopher Dodge House - Providence

Pleasant, helpful staff, good breakfast. Our second floor room was very close to I-95 and noisy. In the evening we closed the interior shutters, which helped. Walk to the Trinity Rep Theater downtown took twenty minutes - through a not at all scary neighborhood. Check in early for a close parking spot - more parking around the corner. The feeling of staying in a cozy, feeling of home environment gives a more relaxing atmosphere especially with the home cooked food during breakfast which is delicious. The lounge and the kitchen is available anytime if you feel like making coffee or tea and other snacks.... very convenient.... the access of a wi-fi and internet is a plus!

At some point, this must have been an elegant home. I saw pictures that showed that it fell into disrepair but now is just gorgeous. We peeked into the more expensive rooms and they were lovely. Ours was the cheaper end, in the basement, but with a full kitchen and perfectly comfortable. One good and bad thing was being close to the kitchen adn the […] frequent smells of baking! Very convenient to downtown and the colleges. Could see the capitol building right out our window. Nearly on top of the highway but we weren't bothered by the noise. Happy to go back sometime. You probably won't find any kinder hosts out there in a B&B. Classy place, classy people.

Room was very comfortable and attractive. Included fridge, dishes, microwave, and best of all, gas log fireplace. Toasty warm in no time. Good night's sleep. Breakfast adequate.

We could not have had better accomodations. Very comfortable and staff was great. Best homemade cooking and pastries we have had anywhere.

This is a nicely appointed and comfortable Bed and Breakfast that presents a much nicer experience than staying in a hotel. Very pleasant and welcoming staff. They gave excellent recommendations for lunch and dinner (check out the Duck & Bunny and Nick's) Alynne is the smiling breakfast chef and she made some excellent fench toast with strawberry and […] rhubarb compote -delicious! Our room had a thermostat controlled fireplace and really comfortable bed. All in all, a romantic and relaxing experience. We will return here! Les mer

The bed & breakfast feel was never present during our 3 day stay. The innkeepers have chosen to hire employees to replace the personal service and attention you usually see in a bed & breakfast. The set-up in the dining room had the feel of a hotel continental breakfast assortment. The server offered one entree hot. The room was not set-up to make conversation […] with other guests. The personal attention was lacking. We were told nothing about the Dodge house and had to ask about the surrounding area attractions. Les mer

very nice bed and breakfast...good breakfast....free wifi... but, if you are staying higher than the first floor, or on the top one, the floors are very steep and you carry your luggage up yourself! few amenties, one shampoo and soap....noisy airconditioner... prefer a nice hotel...

Wow!!!!!! What a wonderful experience, we had the perfect room. Beautifully restored old building, very comfortable bed and beautifully appointed room and coomon areas. Immaculately clean. The staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast selection comprehensive. Close to the centre of Providence therefore very close to the freeway- I mean very […] close, but this did not effect our room as it was at the otherside of the building and the music in the breakfast room disguised the traffic noise. Easy walking distance to the centre of town and if you dont mind a walk a pleasant walk encountering beautiful old homes up the hill towards the university. You can see that the immediate neighborhood was once something special but now Christopher Dodge is the only well maintained building in the immediate vacinity. The neighborhood felt safe. For cheap eating I recommend going to the Norstrom Department Store Restaurant in the nearby shopping centre and grabbing a window seat with amazing views and enjoying the good selection of well priced and delicious food. The management and owners of this inn are fabulous. We arrived and the place smelled like baking cookies because, well, Janet, the clerk was baking scones and cookies for us. There's a plate of homemade baked goods out at all times, in multiple locations. The room was gorgeous (we had a Superior) with a fireplace and a beautiful brand-new bathroom. […] Everything was sparkling clean and the furniture is all antique or vintage—except the bed, which was heavenly. We weathered Hurricane Irene in there and it was better even than being at home. We will definitely return to Christopher Dodge for our next visit to PVD. Les mer

Getting breakfast on holiday in America is so good. This was pleasant, not a huge choice but plenty of home baking. Coffee on tap and cookies too. Room was nicely done and welcome was friendly. Easy car parking. Very short drive to Mall (good for cooling down on roasting day). Providence was a last minute add on to our trip. Glad we went. Enjoyed walking […] round Brown university - so much calmer than Harvard and prettier. Interesting buildings to look at. A pleasant afternoon's stroll, with some retail therapy at the mall. Les mer
