Den perfekte budsjett hotellet for de som vil utforske San Diego. Her ligger du kort biltur unna Old Town som er verdt å besøke. Resepsjonen var behjelpelig med alle spørsmål, de hadde en concierge som også kunne bistå. samt shuttle buss til og fra flyplass evt andre steder mot reservasjon dagen i forveien. Gratis trådløst internett var et stort pluss. Samt en koselig, enkel amerikansk diner Pam Pam tilknyttet hotellet for frokost, lunsj, middag.
Beliggenhet.
Dette hotellet, The Sofia Hotel, ligger i San Diego, er forretningsvennlig og nær Westfield Horton Plaza, San Diego messe- og konferansesenter og Aircraft Carrier Museum. Ikke langt unna finner du også San Diego zoologiske hage og San Diego maritime museum.

Nice hotel, small but stylish and comfortable rooms. Very friendly and helpful staff. Great hotel bar. Short distance to Horton Plaza for shopping and the rest of downtown San Diego. A 10 min walk from the convention center

Hotellet ligger sentralt til i San Diego, få minutters gange fra Gaslamp Quarter og Horton Plaza. Vennlig og imøtekommende personale på hotellet. Rommet var lite og sengen smal. Det var litt problematisk å få plass til to kofferter. Men ellers var rommet og badet fint og nytt. Det var dyrt å parkere i hotellets garasje, men vi fant ikke noen annen parkering […] i nærheten som var mye billigere. Les mer
"Velger gjetrne det samme hotellet ved neste anledning"
Dette er et koselig og moderne hotel. Midt i sentrum med gangavstand til det meste. Shopping mall rett på andre siden av gaten, restaurantområder i umiddelbar nærhet, og kort avstand til det svært inbydende havneområdetet i byen. Satte veldig pris på døgnåpent treningssenter. Velger gjerne det samme hotellet ved neste anledning.

Overall very happy with my stay. Only comment would be the extra resort fee charged. I know many hotels do this but is is like a forced extra charge for services they say they provide whether you want them or not. If I don't want to read the paper, use the bottled water or ride your bikes why should I have to pay for the daily fee.

"Updated Historic Hotel with great service"
I stayed here for a conference that was taking place a few blocks away. I chose it for the price, historic charm, and proximity to my conference site. It was a great choice! The building itself was really pleasant. The lobby was clean and stylishly decorated, with a very nice attached restaurant that rose above the usual contrived hotel bar. Rooms […] were cute but small, although the space was used well. The only feature that I didn't love was the bathroom door- a modern sliding door that felt less than private. The service was excellent! My friend needed to do a lot of faxing and printing, and the hotel was happy to accommodate her without extra cost. I think I liked the location. It was on the edge of the Gaslamp Quarter. This was good and bad. It was quiet and a little cheaper, but was a 2-3 block walk to get to restaurants. The area was pretty deserted at night, but did feel safe. I walked 4-5 blocks to and from the conference center in the evening, and never felt concerned for my safety. Overall, the sofia is a lovely hotel with historic charm but lots of modern renovations, in a central location but quiet neighborhood! I'd definitely stay there again if return to San Diego! Les mer

Great value. Helpful staff. Clean and cozy hotel with historic allure. 10-15 min walk to convention center. Shopping mall with Macys, Nordstrom 2 blocks away. Several eating options within 15 min walking radius

The hotel staff was very friendly. The resturant was fabulous and the walk to downtown was safe and relatively short. The room was small but extremely clean and quiet! Would stay here again!!

This a very old hotel but they have made efforts to improve. My room was very small and had no view. Staff was very friendly and accomodating. Overall the stay was pleasant. Access to features in the area was a plus!

Very helpful and pleasant staff. No pool. Windows don't open. No balconies. Daily room service charge of $8/day?? For what? Very easy access to public transit. Superb location.

The Sofia is a great little hotel.... the only thing I wish it had was room service. It does have a GREAT restaurant/bar downstairs called Currant but again, was craving some breakfast and room service would have been ideal. Everyone that worked there was very nice and helpful. Also.... it is about 1/2 block from a jail. My friend went down to smoke […] a cigarette and was approached by a guy still wearing his jumpsuit asking for a light.... not so great! That may sound like a total deal breaker, but actually, we had NO idea it was even near the hotel. Les mer

"Very nice-Rooms are small"
The Westgate across the street has rooms that are 5x bigger!! The Sofia was a great place for our anniversary. Only BIG problem is that the valets were very rude. They were 5'7 and 5'3 boys that needed a good spanking for their attitude and comments. I called and complained. Other than that--very nice. Business center was free too. =)

The hotel is wonderfully situated near the main part of the Gaslamp Quarter. It was also in walking distance of the trolley stop (and the bus stop was across the street) so it was easy to go out and explore San Diego. Highly recommended! Great place. Some complain of the rooms and TV's being too small. I personally think that if you are in San Diego and want to just stay in your room and watch tv, you should probably reconsider your trip. Excellent hotel!

"Charming hotel"
The Sofia Hotel was very charming, it had a historic feel to it which was displayed nicely thru old pictures on the wall. The lobby service was ok but I will say the maid did a great job in cleaning our room (tipping a few bucks always helps) . Our 3rd floor room had a view of the street the traffic could be heard but it didn't bother us one bit ( would […] not recommend if your a light sleeper) the size of the room was a bit small and the bathroom / sink area was way too small . All in all our stay was great the hotel had a good location and we enjoyed the historic feel . If you can get a good deal on the room I would recommend it ,its Probly the only way I'd stay there again. Les mer

"Very Small room!"
I recently booked a 2 double bed room at the sofia hotel & it was pretty small!! Our restroom was tiny & the shower didnt even have a full door!! just half a glass covering it which i guess looks cool & modern but when we showered it got water all over the restroom!!! & also The T.v. in our room was TINY! not Cute At all! & the worse part is that there […] is NO FREE PARKING for Hotel Guest which is Absolutely freaking ridiculous!!!!!!!!! We had to pay an Extra $30.00 charged to our room for Hotel Valet!! YUP!! $30.00!!!!! The hotel itself is Nice & right next to The gaslamp district which is very convenient when parting down there but was not happy w how small the rooms actually are! Les mer

Very nice hotel - rooms were small, yes, however ample...and what one should expect from a boutique hotel. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. We had four rooms here while attending a conference. "queen city view: contentment"
Our experience was very positive at this hotel. It is in an excellent location a stone's throw from several different neighbourhoods: Gaslamp, the waterfront/Maritime Museum area, Little Italy, not to mention Horton Plaza two blocks away. Bus to the zoo is across the street. Our corner room was a 'city view' queen, which was a few dollars more in off-season […] but incredible bright and well-appointed, and very quiet. The wired+wireless internet and in-room safe were incredibly convenient, and we liked the availability of bicycles, thought finally didn't take advantage of these. All this and the daily replacement of the in-room bottled water made the $8 supplemental daily guest services charge an excellent value. I had packages sent to the hotel and these, as well as check in/out, were handled professionally. Though this hotel is definitely in an urban setting and on a busy street, we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Les mer

Loved it! The bikes available were great too! The location was great for us. It was really fun to take the ferry to Coronado too. Super easy with the bikes. The hotel service was great. I"d stay there again!

refurbished and traditional, a wonderful change from the mundane chain hotels. Rooms are smallish, in keeping with the age (1926) but everything else is up to date- business center, excellent cafe-restaurant, great value

The hotel was clean and very well located within a few minutes walk of the ferry terminals and the main park, shops in downtown SD. The hotel bedroom was well furnished and comfortable but very small. There was a ventilator shaft or heating duct behind my wall and I am a light sleeper. My first night was not a good night sleep for this reason. Travellers […] should be aware that a full night rate is charged to your card on arrival to cover incidentals although you have already paid for your stay, a bit of a shock to the system. Then an additional daily charge to cover water in your room etc., on top of the amount you have already paid is unexpected and unwelcome, feels a bit of a cheat. The Sofia is at the edge of the Gaslamp district, easy walking distance to Harbor Drive and the main part of the Gaslamp. The room I was in was small but comfortable and well maintained, with good lighting and air conditioning and heating controls. I would have given the Sofia a higher rating except that the wireless signal in my room was weak and […] sometimes nonexistant. In addition, the TV is small and the picture quality not great. You pay a "resort fee" for wireless, bottled water in the room and some other amenities and since I am paying for it, I want a reliable and consistent signal on the 'net. I am staying there again and would recommend the Sofia for a hotel in the Gaslamp area at a reasonable rate. Les mer

We chose the Sofia because of the classic quaint photos online. Its not quite as nice in person. The room was quite tight, which isn't an issue in itself, but the bathroom isn't very private with only a pocket door to separate it. Chose to go use the washroom in the gym for "constitutional moments". Also didn't appreciate the additional guest service […] charge of $7/nite that wasn't mentioned in the online booking. They said this was for the WiFi and amenities - but they should just be included in the price. Great location for walking from the train station - though our window faced a brick wall. Les mer

Only problem was w. weak handheld TV control, even though maintenance was quick to respond to our request for help w. this. Old hotel, rooms are VERY small. Beds are not too comfortable, but great location. I did not like the $8 "service fee" automatically charged per day, just for water and coffee. Parking is $30 per day. The restaurant is convenient and has good food.

Enjoyed the upscale boutique ambiance of the Sofia especiall during the holidays when the trees were artistically designed, organic and beautiful anything but your run-of-the-mill red ornament put together with last year's half off drug store decorations. The welcoming Hispanic woman (can't remember her name) was charming and went out of her way to […] answer questions and direct us to nearby restaurants and shopping numerous times with a warm and caring attitude. The room is small, but lovely and the bed most comfortable. Parking is expensive and I didn't appreciat the resort fee that so many boutique hotels impose, but I would come back to the Sofia in a hearbeat. Les mer
