Koselig og særpreget gammel pub ved elven, 5-10 min.å gå til sentrum.Ved park/naturområde. Like ved det største universitetet. Fine, nyopppussede rom i 2.etasje, rent og flott, meget bra bad. Hyggelig betjening. God frokost med flere valgmuligheter, middagsservering til kl.21.

Hotellet ligger svært sentralt i Swindon sentrum, og var helt glimrende. Rolige omgivelser og rolige tilstander på hotellet. Dette hotellet anbefales!

Fikk rommet allerede ved adkomst kl 11.30 , det var deilig siden turen hadde begynt 04.30 i Oslo. Rommet var lite men rent og ordentlig. Koselig lobby . Grei bellighenhet i forhold til flybusser og med Oxford sentrum i umiddelbar nærhet.

Lite mulighet for ventilasjon på rommet. Vannflaske åpnet som ikke var byttet ut. Frokost veldig god, hyggelig vertskap, fin beliggenhet.

"Not enough staff"
The key issue for this hotel is the poor manpower management. Not enough staff! Trying to telephone reception to get directions was a nightmare as no-one answered the phone. When I eventually arrived there were so few staff that it was understandable why they didn't answer the phone. Had to wait over an hour for a table for dinner that had been booked […] - not enough staff . So, directed to the bar where there was just one person serving who also had responsibility to provide room service, thus leaving the bar unattended. The staff were clearly over worked but to their credit, their manner was overall excellent. The manager seriously needs to realise that the investment of a a few more staff at peak times would go a long way to improve the hotel's rating. Les mer
"Milton Hill House Hotel - Abingdon"
Thoroughly enjoyed out stay, the room was perfect plus the pool and jacuzzi were very relaxing. The only minor issue, we had a meal in the restaurant on Saturday evening and this took over 3.5 hours due to the lack on attentive staff we ended up having to go to the only bar in the hotel and this was unattended on a t least 2 occasions sometimes for […] over 20 minutes. Building and quality of the room was impecable, however, I judge a hotel by its service and it was very poor. Check-in was abrupt, i was given my room key and a map and dismissed, no information about breakfast, check-out, lesiure facilities etc. I had to ask these questions myself and again was met with a dismissve tone. My check-out was the same. […] I witnessed the staff memeber at reception behave very differenlt towards the other guests who were couples. As a single traveller i was made to feel very uncomfortable. There was no room service menu in my room, requested one but it never arrived. Very disappointed with my stay as it's a beautiful hotel and was throughly looking forward to staying there. Les mer

"Milton Hill House"
We Stayed at the Milton Hill House as we wanted to visit Oxford. The staff at the hotel were friendly and the room was clean. Although there was a wedding on, our meal and service in the restaunt was excellent. The only drawback was the bathroom in our room was tiny with only a small shower (no bath).

"A Hotel for Conferences More Than Leisure"
The Milton Hill House is only a few miles by taxi from the closest railway station, Didcot Parkway, and for those who arrive by car there were plenty of on-site parking spaces. Arriving at past 11pm at Didcot Parkway I was pleased to see a full taxi rank right outside and immediate recognition of the hotel name by the taxi driver! The hotel is set […] up to cater for large or numerous conferences and has a wide range of leisure facilities that would suit such use, including an excellent, but small, gym and an indoor swimming pool. The food served in the restaurant was good quality and well presented. There was also a wide range of dishes on offer at very reasonable prices and with surprisingly generous portions. The standard room that I was placed in was on the small side and quite basic in terms of facilities, but was spotlessly clean and modern in design (flatscreen TV, plenty of wall sockets, in-room safe etc). There were also tea/coffee making facilities in the room and quick room service available for anything else. The ventiliation in the room was poor and I found that when I opened the windows I was staring into the window of the guest bedroom opposite, so that felt uncomfortable as an option. The only way to have privacy was to close the roller-blind, which blocked the air. The hotel has a complex structure and looks as though it has grown organically, so getting from Reception (large and comfortable meeting area provided there) to my hotel room involved lots of twists and turns and included stepping outside of the hotel for a short distance across a courtyard (with a glass canopy directly above the path to protect from the elements. The hotel grounds were very attractive and provided a country-house feel. The location seemed very quiet with no disturbances at all to interrupt a good sleep. I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The room was comfortable and the facilities quite adequate. The surrounding park lands are beautiful with plenty of space to walk and find a quite spot. Great hotel with some great staff...we felt really looked after. Just a really small point - would have been great if the jacuzzi was working in the spa and bathrobes were available...overall though didn't detract from our stay.. we would definitely recommend it .. Many thanks

Rooms a long way from the main hotel - 10mins - and also quite small. Very peaceful. Spa etc very good but changing rooms small - busy in evening. Food was excellent, but at a price!
"Expected better from a De Vere"
I don't want this to sound very negative as the stay was pleasant enough and the general facilities were all good, but being a De Vere I expected more. Here are the minor issues I encountered: Not very welcoming from the outset, the front door was closed and difficult to open with all the baggage I was carrying. Once inside the registration process […] was very slow, I had a 15 minute wait even though the queue was small. There appear to be two parts to the accommodation - the main building and then what I would describe as the 'conference delegate' block, a separate building some distance away (and a twisty route) from reception. Quite an effort to get there with all my luggage. The entrance and general decoration of the conference block was quite shabby and unwelcoming. My room was very clean and tidy, but the standard lamp didn't work. The tv remote control didn't work and inside one of the batteries was corroded.
