Capri by the Sea - San Diego

We loved our stay! It was right on the beach, within walking distance to great places to eat (World Famous, Konos), kitchen, beach towels & toys, laundry facility. Wonderful place for a family to stay, had everything we needed!! Got a great deal through hotels.com too. All the staff was friendly & helpful on the local places. The Capri is not a hotel. It is an oceanfront condominium complex. It is right on Pacific Beach about a quarter mile north of Crystal Pier. When we first entered our room our hearts sank as we noticed the ugliest, grossest looking bedspreads in a crypt-like bedroom on the two queen beds. Our despair lifted quickly though as we looked out of our fourth […] floor wall of windows on the surfers riding the breaking waves and people playing on the beach. The kitchen was modern and sparkling and as someone who loves to cook this well-equipped kitchen became one of our favorite things about the Capri. It also probably saved us hundreds of dollars. The living room was comfortable though the decor was tacky. The fear induced by the bedroom prompted us to do a little rearranging. We cleared the living room floor, found a bunch of candy wrappers under the coffee table, and moved in one of the mattresses. Aside from the horrible bedspreads the linen was clean and the matress was comfortable. Sleeping with the door open with the sound of waves crashing was delightful as was waking to the Pacific Ocean. Added to the wonderful view was the pelicans flying along the breaking waves and the pods of dolphins who were constantly patrolling up and down the beach. The location is ideal with a Sprouts and a Trader Joes just east on Garnet. Bring your bikes to make the most out of your stay. Les mer

This is a condo unit-not a hotel. Each unit is unique, but all are completely furnished with kitchens and everything you need to stay. But it was all about the view-each unit faces the ocean (half a block away) and had sliding glass door and wall to wall, floor to ceiling windows with no obstruction to the sea view. Amazing. We were very impressed with our stay at Capri by the Sea. We would love to stay here again on our next trip to San Diego. The view from our room was breathtaking.

Absolutely great place to stay. Complete1 bedrooms studio with ocean view, floor to ceilling windows, + parking, boogies board, cooler, etc. We had requested a sofa bed , we got 2 beds in a large rooms instead. However, sofa was big and comfy so we managed to sleep on it. The place was too perfect to complain. Definitely would return

We were pleasantly surprised with our accomodations. Rather than just a hotel room, it was nice to have a living area and a sleeping area. And RIGHT ON THE BEACH!!!! Parking was free. The staff was friendly and helpful. We are definitely going back.

BLUF: The condo we were rented was not well maintained at all; in fact it was filthy and the furnishings were in poor repair. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary. . .so this was a big negative from our first step into the building. No. . . . we will not ever recommend nor used this location again.

The Capri is right on the sea. We had a great view of the Ocean and the downtown area. It is located up from the main congestion so there is limited skateboard noise. We had the whole family. With the kitchenette we saved heaps on coffee and lunches. Our next San Diego visit will be to the Capri.

Ideal location with fab view of beach and sunset.It would have been nice to have the room cleaned just once during week.Also there was a very dirty covering in the lift that we first went into and that did give an awful first impression.Saying that the room was fab but we were very unlucky with the weather.We would recommend it

We must have been lucky - we got a great 2 bedroom condo... very clean... very updated (leather couch and loveseat - marble and wood floors - excellent views overlooking the ocean. Cannot say enough good about this place. PARKING was the only negative - had a very very narrow assigned spot in their garage.

After reading some of the other reviews I wasn't really sure what to expect besides an amazing view. We were delighted once we checked into our condo! It was amazing with all and more of the comforts in our home. I highly recommed these condos to future travellers if they are offered the same level of accomodations as we were!

I liked the location and the windows that faced the ocean in the living room area. I liked the parking - safe and convenient. I didn't like the 80's thrift store Mitch / match feel of the furniture or the complete lack of updates to the entire space. This could be such a nice place if they put a little love and effort into decorating and maintaining […] the condo. As each condo is individually decorated by the owner of the unit, I would make sure I got an updated unit if I were to stay here again. Les mer

I stayed at Capri by the sea for 4 nights , it is in a great location right on the PB , you can go for a long walk on the beach or boardwalk, its close to restaurants and bars and has enclosed parking. Quite spacious with its own full ktchen, although dated, small twin sofa bed in addition to the 1 bedroom. So far so good...however the property, at […] least the unit I rented, is really showing signs of its age, the room i stayed in, was not updated it seems since it was built or at least for many years, and needed to be updated. Sofa and chairs had stains and one of the sofa cushions was even torn. So it showed its age, old shaggy carpet and bedroom closet doors that were falling off at times and drapes that were not working properly. The place needed some attention. It is a great location but needs updating and some care and would love some attention to detail. Les mer

My husband and I loved the condo. The view was amazing and came in very handy since the weather wasn't great. The condo was clean and nicely equiped with kitchen utensils, extra towels and bedding. It even had beach chairs, children's beach toys, and a body board. The staff was friendly and it appeared to be very secure. The lower level garage was a […] bit tricky and the bed was not as comfortable as we had hoped. There are several great restaurants near the condo and plenty to do within walking distance. We would highly recommend this condominium and hope to return when the weather improves. Les mer

We loved this place, right on the ocean and will rent here again. Close to everything, shopping, restaurants, night entertainment.

We really enjoyed our stay at Capri by the Sea. The view is superb. The nearby location of many restaurants, the boardwalk, and stores was great.

condo in san diego was very dirty, had no heat, needs new furniture but had a good view.

Hotel was great. Your description was not. There were NO hair dryers. Everything was perfect - location,amenities, and layout of apartment.

The pictures speak a thousand lies, old, outdated, we were told it was a non smoking room, There were ash trays every where in the apartment and it must have been the designated smoking area. What good is having a cleaning service when all you can do is put a clean sheet over a dumpster. it was that dirty.We used all the extra towels we were given to […] throw on the floor it was so filthy. Having read the reviews I really didn't know what to expect...Upon arrival we were greated and helped out by a very nice gentleman in lobby. We were able to check in a couple of hours earlier than regular check in. Check in was quick and easy. We reserved a corner condo on the 11th floor. Great views of the ocean. Condo was well equiped down to folding […] chairs for the beach. 2 bedroom, 2 bath...plenty of room. All we needed to do was make a quick trip to the supermarket just right up the street. Restaurants, deli, shops...all within walking distance. Very quiet. Never heard our neighbors. Take quarters for the laundry room. Now...If you're looking for room service, daily maid service, exercise room, complimentary breakfast....reserve a room somewhere else. If you can do for yourself and like privacy...this place is PERFECT. Just steps from the beach. Would stay here again! Les mer

We were thrilled with this place. At first a bit hesitant because they are personally owned spaces (personally decorated as well:), but being on the 5th floor with a magnificent view of the ocean and the beach was just awesome. Beach is right in front of you, but beach access is a little bit of a pain if you have little ones and lots of junk to take […] down.... but you'll figure it out. We've stayed a lot of places in PB and this was probably the BEST if you have little children especially! Les mer

We spent a wonderful weekend in this apartment building. I loved that the building was very secure since we were three women traveling alone. It was an ideal site since it was where all the action is in pacific beach. I will definitely stay there again.

If you are looking for a relaxing vacation in a "home away from home", then this is the place to stay! This isn't a hotel, so much as individual condos, which means they generally feel like you are living at home, with full kitchen etc... great for spending a week at the beach with the kids! Great location, easy to get to and park with your car, and […] right on the beach! Easy to walk to restaurants and shops, even with kids! And the best part was that the front desk guy noticed that I was traveling with small children, and change my room to accomodate them (separate beds instead of one big bed) and even upgraded my room since there was availability! It was extremely thoughtful and really made my day!! My only suggestions for improvement are to add a change machine for quarters for the laundry, and to perhaps offer (even optional) maid service (a change of linens and once-over 1/2 way through the week would have been nice). Overall, though, I will definitely stay here again, and strongly recommend it to others!! Les mer

The full kitchen, beautiful view of the ocean and atmosphere were awesome. They provided towels and sheets when we first arrived and the owner of the condo had fun beach toys in the closet. Love this place! Perfect location, clean, and right on the beach. me and a group of girls had a BLAST! we pretty much spent most of our time in the room.

The ocean view is amazing and once you open the sliding glass doors the roar of the ocean can be heard and you can feel the ocean breeze coming through your room. It was wonderful. Each unit is individually owned and so each room is different. In all honesty though, this place is more like staying at an apartment by the ocean, instead of an actual hotel. […] While all of the basic necessities are there, don't expect maid service or even a replenishing of your room supplies. Once you check in, you basically have whatever was left in your room for you, if you need anything else, you need to bring it yourself (although, right at the end, I went down and got an extra roll of toilet paper, because what I brought had run out, and while they willingly gave me a roll, it didn't look like the front desk is really equiped to do this all of the time). It really is the type of place that you can go to and "pretend" that you own this little beach apartment. So, bring whatever you would need to, to stay at your own place. As a family of 4, with two young kids, we had ample room for the kids to run and play. The bedroom was a good size, and had two queen beds, plus plenty of room for a pack-n-play. The beds however, in the unit we had, were very strange. It felt like sleeping on giant plastic trash bags filled up with stuff. I never in my life have ever slept on such a strange bed. Overall though, it was a great place, with a great location and we'd stay there again. Les mer
