Fint hotell med veldig god frokost! Hotellet har ikke resepsjon, så det må sjekkes inn i nabobygningen. Dette burde det opplyses om. Men ellers var det ikke noe problem. 20 min å gå til byen, men siden det var en handlegate vi gikk i, brukte vi mye lenger tid :D

Dette var et flott hotell med stort fint rom, stille og fredelig plass 15 min å gå til byen, og bussholdeplass rett utenfor. Frokosten var elegant, imtimt og god. Vi savna en plass å kjøpe et glass vin på om kvelden, ingen ting å få kjøpt i nærheten.

the only detail I would have liked to known in advance was no room service and the walk to the pollock shop. only a minor inconvenience.

Just popped up to Edinburgh for a day or two and bedded down at the ever lovely Salisbury Green Hotel. We've stayed here on a number of visits and it's always a complete pleasure, from the beautiful building to it's fantastic location in the lea of Salisbury Crags to it's helpful staff to the hearty breakfast and the freshly cooked porridge in particular. […] Highly recommended and can't wait for our next visit. This is the 3rd time staying in this hotel in the past 2 months and it is a very good experience, quite and in an ideal location for all destinations in and around Edinburgh. Convenient location if you have anything to do in University area. Clean, basic updated room resembles dorm room. Check-in desk is in a different building. No elevators in the hotel building. My room was not made one morning since I did not leave the room by 10:30 AM and despite leaving a note for fresh towels,at least, in service pantry which happened […] to be open till 1PM. Les mer

Salisbury Green Hotel is a step up from staying in the University dorm next door. The hotel is administered by the residence halls. There is a desk with a standard type chair, but no other place to sit in the room, except on the bed. I stayed there because of a conference at the university conference center. It is convenient if that is why you are in […] Edinburgh or if being close to a great park with trails for running or hiking is important to you. Its location is somewhat inconvenient if you are in Edinburgh to see the sites and sights; it takes about 30 minutes to walk into the center. It is very quiet, pleasant, reasonably clean, and has a decent breakfast buffet. The neighborhood is an unremarkable city neighborhood, with a grocery store within about 10 minutes walk and lots of kebab and pizza places. Les mer

The hotel is in the grounds of university halls near Arthur's seat. It was nothing fancy but clean, quiet and comfortable and the staff were very friendly and helpful. It was out of the city centre, but it was only a 5-10 minute journey on the bus. Buses go from the road just outside and we never had to wait more that a couple of minutes for a bus. Terrible check in procedure as wasnt even in the same building

The breakfast was amazing, the rooms were larger Than expected, character of the hotel was well Maintained. The location was ideal. We were able To walk to restaurants & pubs & we caught the bus right across the street. Very pleased overall. Very friendly staff. While I'm sure you could do worse, you could certainly do much better. The place looks great from the outside, very old (about 250 years old as a matter of fact) and has a great gothic look to it, unfortunately, that's where my praise for Salisbury Green ends. Checking in: The check in process was ridiculous. We explain to the taxi driver how to get […] to the hotel (he doesn't know), which I only knew myself from having looked at Google maps before we left the states. Having been in Ireland the week before and going to Glasgow after a week in Edniburgh, I had three large suitcases. I pay the driver and enter the "lobby" (which is just a vestibule as you enter the building, there is no front desk). In the lobby there's a sign that says check in is to be done at Masson Hall. Perhaps the university students know where/what Masson Hall is, but I do not attend the school and had no idea. I had to haul my three large pieces of luggage around campus until I found Masson Hall. When I lugged all my bags into their lobby and checked in, I had to sign an agreement for internet access and proceeded to be lectured, like a student, about why I am signing the agreement and appropriate use of the internet according to the school, only one problem with that, I am a grown adult man and did not appreciate the lecture after lugging my bags around a campus to a school I didn't attend and receive a lecture to check into a hotel that wasn't even worth it afterall. (BTW, later in the week, we were walking/hiking to get something to eat, while we were leaving, another woman had just gotten out of the taxi and come into the lobby and read the sign referring her to Masson Hall, I realized she had no clue either as the look on her face told it all, so I pointed her in the right direction, but even she commented on the ridiculousness of this process... We were going to be in Edinburgh for two days and needed a place to park a car. We didn't want to pay an unknown quantity of pounds just to park a car we weren't using. This hotel is perfect. It is downtown, but not in the central "Royal Mile" area. Numerous buses heading downtown stop right across the street (for just a pound twenty). Also, it is […] right off the big park where Arthurs Seat may be visited or climbed. And since you have your car, you can drive through the park over to Dunnigston to dine at the Sheep Heid's Inn, the oldest pub in Scotland. Les mer

The location of the hotel was great as my course was run in the same place. However I had my daughter travelling with me who was recovering from an illness. I paid for B&B for 2. The hotel had regimented rules on food in rooms. I was stopped, quite rudely taking a muffin and a bowl of fruit back to the room for my daughter from the breakfast buffet.. […] Even after I explained the situation I was told it was not possible for me to do this on the grounds of food safety. I could however pay for room service and they would take the muffin & bowl to the room for me. Stupid rule and I was really annoyed by their attitude. I stay in many hotels on business and this is the first time I've been treated like this. Also there was no late checkout even the hotel wan't full. I wouldn't stay there again. Les mer

I read the reviews of this hotel and they are absolutely right. This is a great location for visiting Holyrood Park. It is on the university campus so is actually a quiet location. The front desk is not staffed all hours. The bed is a bit hard, but it is overall a good hotel.

the hotel was OK, but as a base for a single woman to 'do' Edinburgh it was not good. A 25 minute walk through a not very nice set of streets into town and the grounds were pretty but creepy at night as was the rather empty and echoing hotel. This isn't really a hotel its a university campus conference centre. With the university closed it just felt […] dismal and a bit dodgy. Les mer

WONDERFUL LOCATION, VERY CLOSE TO CITYCENTRE. FREE PARKING. EXCELLENT CHOICE FOR BREAKFAAST. MEALS IN STUDENT BAR GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY, DRINKS CHEAP ASWELL. WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT

It says what it is on the tin, but if you arrive looking for a 3-star treatment - think again. Whilst the staff are dutiful and answer all your questions, note it is staffed by young 'student like' indlividuals. No one shows you to your room, and the building has 'maze' like qualities. Having said that, the room is satisfactory, room 29, overlooks […] a peaceful garden, with large bath (2 showers so you can cleanse together at the same time), plenty of mirror space. The DIY furniture kit is slightly wobbly-but functional. No biscuits in room or extra pillows. Would we stay again,? YES, as it offers a great variety for breakfast (even if you have to wait at busy times-coffee/tea supplied whilst you wait with the newspapers), and the yoghurts are to die for. Don't be put off by the distance from the centre of the city - take the risk and walk down the road running parallel to Dalkeith street to get to the hotel- there you will come across many desirable /fashionable/ethnic shops (opp. the theatre). Bit difficult to find as its within the university Campus, but once I found it, it was fantastic, a hidden gem. Room was fantastic and the breakfasts were fab. Would Definately stay here again.

Had a great time the hotel was excellent very clean and the staff were very friendly and helpfull would go back to this hotel the next time we go to Edinburgh

très bien placé par rapport à la vieille ville et ses points d'intérêts..une station de bus se situe juste en face de l hôtel ..et cela permet de rejoindre le centre ville en quelques minutes..chambres bien équipées,propres,et un petit déjeuner vraiment exceptionnel.personnel sympa et très avenant.attention tout de fois pour certaines personnes l' absence […] d'ascenceur peut être un inconvénient.. Rent, snyggt och inte lyhört. Jätte god frukost och trevligt bemötande. Det enda jag saknade var en "bar" på hotellet så man kunde satt sig ner och snackat lite innan man lade sig. Kan varmt rekommendera detta!!

Hotellet ligger på University of Edinburgh's campus, noget jeg meget godt kunne lide. Huset er helt fantastisk og afviger i stil helt fra de omgivende, moderne bygninger. Det man kan kritisere er dels at det er svært at finde frem til hotellet, da adressen fører til universitetets hovedindgang, mens hotellet faktisk ligger i modsatte ende og det er […] temmelig langt at gå. En anden lille ulempe er at lokalet hvor morgenmaden serveres er så lille, at man risikerer at få vente udenfor. Ellers er beliggenheden meget god, med busser der går ind til Edinburgh centrum hver femte minut og meget tæt på Holyrood Park, hvis man er til vandreture i fjeldmiljø. Les mer

de ligging van het hotel is een beetje vreemd, op de campus van de universiteit. Je ziet overdag niemand en de receptie zit in een ander gebouw. 's morgens bij het ontbijt blijkt dat je met andere personen in het hotel zit. Onze kamer had ramen hoog in de muur, waardoor we niet naar buiten konden kijken. Salisbury Green turned out to be a charming old building cunningly disguised and hidden away in the midst of an enormous conference center, which in turn is evidently an integrated part of The Edinburgh University student buildings. The house itself reminded me of living in with my grandparents. We ended up in a cellar room which was damp and cold, […] despite the fact that we went there in mid June. With no possibility to adjust the heat my Fiancee had to use the bedding from the extra bed to keep vaguely warm during the night. The restaurant on the premises reminded me of a college canteen, which it almost certainly is. However, the food was decent and plentiful and the staff extremely helpful, polite and kind. The hotel is slightly off, but it only took about ten minutes to walk to the High street leading up to Edinburgh castle. All in all I was satisfied with my stay at Salisbury Green and can recommend it to people as long as you don't mind damp and cold rooms in cellars :p Les mer

Nice location at the University but a bit too far away if you want to be in the mid of the Tourist attraction. The room I got was spacious and was up to date and clean. Breakfast was absolutely fantastic. Please remember to pick up your key at the Masion house next door where you will also find the reception desk.

The hotel is situated on the campus gounds, feced off from the rest of the city. This makes the area aroun the hotel very quiet and calm. Personally I prefer to be more "n the middle of the hustle and bustle of the city streets. So I guess it boils down to what you like. The only (very minor) complaint I have is that the hotell is unmanned for acouple […] of hours in the middle of the day, which presented a problem since we needed someplace sto leave our bags after checkout while getting a rental car. But all in all: A very nice hotel. Clean, Spatious rooms, good service, nice breakfast and a good location just next to Holyrood park. Not too pricy either. Les mer

Det var en fornøjelse at bo på Salisbury Green på Edinburgh Universitets område. Beliggenheden er nær centrum og samtidig nær park og natur og gode muligheder for vandreture. Morgenmaden var fabelagtig, værelset pænt stort med vinduer i to retninger, og badeværelset i orden. Venligt og hjælpsomt personale. Bygningen var klassisk smuk, næsten Harry Potter […] agtig i stilen - klassisk engelsk. Beliggenheden på universitetsområdet gør at her er stille, omend en GPS var nyttig, da vi første gang skulle finde stedet. Man finder dog nemt den lokale universitetsinformation i egen bygning, der leder videre til hotellet - også når man ankommer kl. 22 om aftenen. Les mer

Schickes und zweckdienliches Ambiente in altehrwürdigem Gemäuer.

Das Hotel ist nicht so einfach zu finden, da auf dem Gelände der Uni. Aber es ist ein schönes altes Gebäude, mit renovierten Zimmern. Staff war überall sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit.
