Colony Palms Hotel - Palm Springs

Don't doubt your choice if you decided to stay here, jut go for it. After looking at some other hotel options I just had a gut feeling I would like this place a lot, and I did. Staff is friendly, hotel is lovely, the garden is cute and there are great places to sit and lay out by the pool. The restaurant is yummy and the wait-staff is firendly and attentive! Yes, […] there is a resort fee, but it seems almost all the hotels in Palm Springs have it. My only complaint, the gym is a bit run down and it was extremely dusty, which was a surprise because the place was so clean. While the room was not as generous in size as it might have been, this hotel lived up to the name "resort." The room was well appointed and the bed extremely comfortable with the crispest, feather light sheets. The toiletries were top rate and the shower wonderfully designed. Great location in central Palm Springs and lovely landscaped grounds. Property is small and was very quiet the weekend we stayed. However, the room was not so great - we had a pricey casita w/an outdoor walled patio - room was small and there was no seating inside other than the bed and no dresser or cabinet. This Colony Palms was exactly what I wanted for a relaxing birthday weekend with wife and friends. A nice intimate pool environment with well-equipped bar and classy restaurant. The entire staff was friendly and exceptional. We spent most of the day lounging on the long sun bed by the pool and at night we sat by the outdoor fireplace and drank wine. […] I loved the recorded poolside lounge music and on Sunday the live jazz band was an extra treat. The hotel is easy walking distance to downtown Palm Springs and only a 10-minute cab ride to the airport. We stayed in one of attached "casita's" with a small patio and outdoor bathtub. It was a very nice unit but but I'm not sure that was really worth double the price of a standard room which looked perfectly good enough to me. My only minor gripe was that water poured out from the shower all over the bathroom floor and one night they left a pile of garbage and towels outside my door. But nothing to keep me from coming back again. I'll be back :) Les mer

An "old school" Southern California Palm Springs gem. We loved it. Old spanish decor, large rooms with a top shelf assortment in the bar, nice pool and out door dining. Polite and professional service. We'll be back.

Wanted to get away for a few days from Irvine. Arrived to Palm Springs around noon and got familiar with the territory to while we waited for our room to be available. Check-in was not possible but the receptionist took down our number and ended up calling us around 3:30, giving us a half hour before the normal check-in time at 4pm. Hotel Signage a […] little small but once we found it everything was familiar. The courtyard layout of the hotel was very nice. Great landscaping. Lobby is simple. Our ground floor King room was just the right size, though a work table and chair were missing, but that was ok. Big shower was nice. The best part of the hotel was the pool and outdoor hottub. Great time of year to go in early January, not too crowded, temperature into the mid 60's. Pool temperature was warm and the hot tub shaped great for privacy or casual conversation with other guests.. The restaurant offered strong coffee, tasty OJ and a simple but well done continental breakfast, good yogurt and croissants, hard-boiled eggs and oatmeal. The staff friendly, perhaps not very attentive around the pool. The lunch was good and pricing was decent. Didn't have dinner or the brunch which I heard were great. We viewed 3 other hotels in our free time prior to check-in and ended up extending our stay here for a total of three nights, we made the right choice! Les mer

Hotel staff very nice. Good location, one block away from the main street. hotel ambiance/gardens very pretty. they were even doing photo shoots at the hotel when we stayed there. the beds were comfortable and the shower was big.

This place is great and super convenient to all shopping and restos. Staff is nice and professional and rooms are large and have all you need. A bit more sophisticated than some of the others in this price range. Great value

The grounds were beautiful, staff was nice, loved the room we were in-the fireplace was very romantic, and breakfast by the pool was the perfect way to top it all off.

What a nice hotel! The hotel restaurant was unbelievable. It's rated among the top 50 in the nation! The raviolis were to die for and the corn soup was just as good. Great service. The room was unique and comfortable. The whole stay was more than I expected. I will definitely stay here again!

This hotel is perfect for a romantic getaway. They seem to cater to 35+ year old couples, so if that's you, you'll enjoy your stay at the Colony. The rooms are very nice, the gardens are beautiful, and the pool and hot tube are available 24/7, but you have to be quiet at night, which works out great for everyone. Great hotel. Close walk to everything. Service was great. On site restaurant was wonderful. Courtyard was beautiful. Rooms were nice. Overall a really relaxing and romantic trip due to this little hotel. Will definitely go again.

We really liked this hotel. The room was beautiful and the bathroom had planty of space for all my girlfriends STUFF. It was so relaxing and the pool was quaint and so enjoybale to hang out at. Coffee available at the pool side in the morning and drinking it in the cool morning air next to the pool before the day heats up is such a treat. The only […] problem was transporting our luggage to the second floor as there was not an elevator. Next time I have to convince my girlfirend to pack light (Wish me luck on that one!). Next time I will probably stay longer than the two nights we stayed, as it will reduce the frequency of me having to drag my girlfriends luggage everywhere. This is a GREAT place to just unwind, catch up on some sleep and reading, take occasional dips in the pool, it is just pure relaxing! I do look forward to coming back and doing just exactly that when I am in the Los Angeles area again. Oh and the resturaunt by the pool "Purple Palm" - FANTASTIC! It was a great place to come to Colony Palms after one month of driving through California to do fun stuff. The room was great (we really like the style) and the staff are so good, especially happy Sara in the restaurant who takes all the orders at the pool. Perfect spot for romance or as a get away for hard working business people. Very relaxing!

cool hotel with nice pool area. we stayed in a casita which had a nice jetted tub on a private patio. poolside drinks were way over priced. location of hotel was awesome! walking distance to downtown Palm Springs. great food and night life at your fingertips.

I was a bit unsure about staying here. I really couldn't tell from the photos what the hotel would be like--a converted apartment complex? An old-school motel? A bit on the tacky/theme-ish side? However, my fears were unnecessary. The hotel is not a typical fancy chain, and that's good. The rooms are comfortable and clean, AND they have charm. The hotel staff is attentive, without being obnoxious. And best of all, you are close to downtown. We ate at the Purple Palm, the on-site restaurant, one night, and it was very good. No view from room as promised on line, Desk missing from room. I felt as a second class citizen as Monday to Wednesday this hotel offers only sandwiches for lunch and dinner, and a breakfast with only hard boiled eggs. It promised gourmet dinning. Traveling with our adult son and daughterinlaw we were in Palm Springs for one night checking on real estate business. The hotel was clean but dated just a little. It has a small but pretty courtyard with pool that was filled with hotel guests. Music played at the pool most of the night and guests outdoors were there til 4:00 a.m. which we could hear […] from our room. Although the rooms were decorated nicely and the bedding nice the noise of the pool was disappointing. If you are under the age of 40 you may like this hotel and it's accommendations. We are in mid 50's and not really our forte to party all night and be inconsiderate of other people's privacy. Les mer

Great place to stay, nice rooms, good food. Nicely decorated, cool "old hollywood" vibe with a communal pool enviorment. Great experience! The only issue is that we arrived at noon and they would not let us check in anytime before 4pm, nor would they extend a late checkout. The room was a little small and had only one sink, and the lighting was only fair, but overall the room was very comfortable. Our trip was in the off season (August) so the afternoons were hot. The pool area had plenty of shaded areas to sit and relax in as well as the normal lounges and tables in full sun.

We stayed one night here in April (as a stop on our way to AZ), and loved it; however, we didn't have time to enjoy it. So, we made it a point to come back to stay for a few days when we had some time off, and we had a wonderful and relaxing time. The rooms are comfortable, the pool area is relaxing, and the service is great. This is now the only place […] we will stay in Palm Springs. Les mer

The Colony's grounds were exquisite. Everywhere we walked was lush and green and well maintained. The music was so soothing and relaxing. It was nice to have cabanas to have our drinks in - very romantic. The bar serves excellent drinks. We only wish that the bar stayed open later (this was in August). It would have been nice to sit outside later in […] the evening and enjoy a drink by the pool. The stay we encountered was very nice and helpful. Cool, laid back, high quality boutique hotel..probably my 3rd trip and I love it.. nicely sized rooms , nicely appointed..fantastic cocktails at the bar and open and inviting pool layout in a cozy central courtyard. Unobtrusive and friendly staff..

my husband and I stayed just for one night on a business trip, the outside is really not spectacular but the courtyard with pool and spa and lounge chairs and complementary water was just wonderful, we enjoyed a cocktail in the pool and relaxed after a week of different hotel to call that one home for one night, spacious hotel room, great bathroom, […] very friendly and helpful staff, easy in and out, stay there, close to main street of Palm Springs, no kids (great!!!) and very relaxing , great bed!! The Colony Palms is simply FABULOUS! Great poolside service, amazing and friendly staff that went out of their way to take care of us. Can't wait to return for another weekend of poolside pampering!

The pool area was comfortable. Adequate lounge chairs (even though we heard the hotel was fully booked). The pool has a large seating area (within the pool) making it easy to sunbathe in the water. We were there while the weather was 100+F. So the comfort of the pool definitely made the day go by quickly. The poolside staff was friendly. BTW, the pool […] hours are 24 hours. Great for late- night swimmers. Restaurant: we only had breakfast here (Norwegian eggs benedict and California eggs benedict) both meals a little salty. But I still liked the Norwegian eggs benedict (w/ salmon and capers so I was expecting it to be salty). The bathroom fixture was missing the "H" over the hot water faucet. Carpet looked a little dirty and sticky. But overall, the room looked well-maintained. The bar was fully stocked. We met a couple there that stays at the hotel at least once/2 months. We could see why they keep returning to this hotel. The atmosphere was conducive to a relaxing getaway. Great hotel to retreat to from the chaos in Los Angeles. We were lucky, the crowd was mostly 30years old+ (I only saw 1 toddler so no kids screaming). Good vibe--other guests were nice, friendly, relaxed. The hotel is couples friendly. The Colony Palms Hotel is a new find for me and my sister who take a 'girls weekend' to Palm Springs every year. We have stayed in many places, but this was by far our favorite. The ambiance is charming, and the hotel is beautifully landscaped with a fantastic pool. The Purple Palm restaurant was fantastic, I was impressed with the selection of tapas […] and their sangria is wonderful. The staff at the hotel were friendly and helpful, and even though we were not able to secure a late checkout, the front desk staff encouraged us to let them stow our bags and spend the rest of the day by the pool. We were able to use the spa to freshen up before we left town. The CPH was lovely, and I plan on returning soon with my husband! The only con is that it is about .7-1 miles away from the real center of the action on the main drag in Palm Springs, that's no big deal to walk usually, but when its 116 degrees outside, well, it seemed like too far. We just hopped in the car (AC!) and drove on over. The distance won't stop me from returning, I just thought it would be worth a mention. Les mer

Spent the 4th of July weekend at the Colony Palms Hotel and had a good time expect for a few incidents Pros: - Good location. Next to the main Palm Springs strip with all the restaurants, stores and bars - Hospitable staff. Corteous, responsive and cheerful - Rooms. Good size and comfortable. Nice linens and toiletries - Bar. Delicious cocktails, especially […] the lavender mojito made with lavender grown on the premises Cons - Pool. It is a tad small, especially 7/4 weekend when everyone wanted to be in the pool. - Pool Area. Must get up at 6 am on weekends to go stake pool chairs. Arrived at 8:30 am and all chairs taken bcoz people dropped off their stuff at 6 am even though they didn't show up until noon. Also, some beds can be reserved for $300/day but we were not advised of that either. - People steal stuff: I tried to stake a pool chair and left a pool dress on one chair with the intent of coming back in an hour after lunch. When I came back, the dress was missing for the rest of the trip. I understand that the hotel is not responsible for my dress but if they had a better pool policy with certain hours allocated or reservations made in advance, I would not feel compelled to leave my dress just to ensure I had a place to sit by the pool after lunch. I was also disappointed that the hotel did not offer any concern/concession for having my possessions stolen which would have been expected from any other 3 star hotel. Nothing significant but maybe an apology or a glass of wine would have made me feel better. None was offered. Dogs: Also, opposed to what other reviewers said, folks were bringing their dogs into the pool and the staff did not enforce the no-dogs-in-pool policy. So good hotel but words of advice - stake out pool chairs in the morning, don't leave anything valuable/special by the pool because chances are, it will be stolen and enter the pool if you don't mind swimming with dogs Les mer

Room 2 is dark and the TV is positioned badly to watch in bed. Otherwise, charming hotel with very pleasant ambiance.

My girlsfriends and I had a fantastic weekend getaway at The Colony Palms. It was very central. We loved the atmosphere, the common areas have a wonderful layout, the pool area struck just the right balance between a relaxing and cool vibe. The poolside bar and restuarant served great food. Nice, hip & trendy hotel with friendly and well-trained staff. Serene location makes one forget that you're right downtown Palm Spings, close to many resaurtants and bars. The rooms aren't very large, but still very comfortable. The pool is rather small, but it has a great lounge-like feel to it and the chairs and beds are comfortable. Beautiful surroundings, friendly people and a wonderful hotel. We would gladly stay there again in the future.

This "Classic 1930's" boutique hotel is awesome the renovations are beautiful, the rooms and grounds are wonderfully appointed. We came to Palm Springs for a quick warm up, it was -1 when we left Kansas City, and this was a perfect choice, large pool area for sunning, hot tub, fire place, patio bar and restaurant, and excellent service, and the rooms […] are great. If you are looking for a "cookie cutter luxury resort and spa" or a "high rise hotel and casino" look elsewhere. If you're looking for cozy setting with plenty of palms and lemon trees, super comfortable rooms with great bathrooms and a fabulous staff The Colony Palms is the place. We can't wait to return.
