OK hotel. Bra beliggenhet, dvs kort gange til guidede bussturer i Aten, hvor du kan gå av og på bussen. Anbefales! Takterassen er det beste med hotellet, da du ser rett mot Akropolis. Utrloig flott i mørke.

Vi kom til Athen med tog fra Tessaloniki og valgte og spasere fra togstasjonen til hotellet. Hotellet var ganske bra, trang heis (3 personer) men rommene var bra. Det var kraftig støy fra gaten når verandadøren var åpen men ganske lydløs når den var igjen og med ekstra innvendig glassdør. Hyggelig takterasse med servering og god utsikt over byen og […] Kolosseum. For å kjenne byen på pulsen spaserte vi hele veien til Colloseum men mange stopp særlig i området rundt Colloseum. Etter ett flott besøk på Colloseum spiste vi god mat på en trivelig resturang ved foten av fjellet. Neste dag spaserte vi bl.a. til Parlamentet og "Den ukjente soldats grav" Utgrolig marsjering ved vaktskifte ved graven.Ellers var det bl.a. loppemarkedsgaten og kjøtt og fisk markedet som ble besøkt. Alt til fots også tilbake til hotellet. Det ble noen kilometer. Det var togstreik når vi skulle hjem og da det var langt til buss stasjonen valgte vi taxi til flyplassen. (40 euro pr. taxi) I forhold til pris/beliggenhet kan hotellet anbefales. 3 par på tur. Les mer

God valuta for pengene. Frokosten var bra. Tror ikke mange har en større frokost hjemme heller... Hyggelig personale. Kort avstand til severdigheter. Gangavstand, og gode kommunikasjoner. Metro og busser.

Her får man god beliggenhet og grei standard for en rimelig penge! 100 meter fra nærmeste t-banestasjon. Utsikt til Akropolis fra mange rom, samt fra restauranten på taket. Gangavstand til de fleste sentrale severdigheter. Kan absolutt anbefales. Litt "dystert" nabolag kanskje, men vi har aldri hatt noen ubehagelige opplevelser der. We'll be back!

Apollo hotel was found to be a very decent hotel at the price they demanded. With the Acropolis within walking distance and a good twin size bed (with greek standards) this hotel must be considered by price-aware travellers. The hotel itself is old and the rooms are kind of narrow at some passages but the breakfast was great given that it was included […] in the price. Extra plus for the clean baby-bed that where put into our room. Minus for the tiny TV, but then again - what to demand for the price? We where very happy with our stay and warmly recommend this hotel to others. Les mer

Breakfast was great, filling if you're on a budget. Staff was very friendly. Another review mentions a computer, but that isn't actually there, just for the record (at least when I stayed). Very helpful staff. Ok neighborhood, and close enough to metro station that it really doesn't matter.

The first thing I noticed when I arrives was that the beds were not sleep comfort as I expected but just very hard mattresses. Other than that though it was exactly what I was looking for. Clean, good sized bathroom, private balcony and great service. I was there for the marathon and they even started breakfast at 5:30 so all the runners would be able […] to eat. My main problem with the hotel was the bed. I stayed three nights, and each night I awoke several times from being uncomfortable. The bed was terriblely uncomfortable, and I can sleep almost anywhere. But the service was great, the hotel was pretty clean, and the service was good.

The hotel was very close to the Metro and that made the whole city very accessible. I note that some complained about the area: it's downtown, like any downtown, and next to two big 4-5* hotels. I am an older solo female traveler. Walking day or night was no problem. The female staff were very helpful, informative and considerate -- especially Effie […] and Marion! Computer available in the lobby. Rooftop terrace, with beautiful view of the Parthenon exquisite! Unfortunately, no food, although advertised with menu items and pictures in rooms. Breakfast quite nutritious and substantial, albeit a little repetitive (Staff again excellent in breakfast room). They agreed to keep my large suitcase while I went to an island for 3 nights, and I very gratefully returned for another night prior to flight home. Overall 4.5 out of 5. I would definitely return. The hotel is very close to the Metro which is great as the Metro is cheap and easy to use. The hotel was clean and a step up or two from basic but then then the price was as much as we wanted to pay knowing this was a sightseeing trip. The roof top bar is reat and you really can see the Acropolis from there. The room was cleaned everyday with fresh […] towels every day. Breakfast was plentiful but boring continental stuff OK, if you're only there a couple of days but we were there 7 days!! Plenty of wardroce sopace but not enough hangers and the rest of our clothes had to stay in the cases as not enough drawers. Enougeh bars and places to eat nearby. Word of warning b careful with yoru jewellery I had my necklace ripped off my neck not far from the hotel. Keep your jewellery at home or keep it covered. Check with the receptionists , who were great, about the safety of the area as we were told there were some areas close by that were not for he tourists! Les mer

Pro: The lady at the desk inthe morning is really helpful regarding surrounding attraction of she was looking after us with the incovenient of the strike. Rest of staff counter is totaly useless (see below). The view on top of the hotel is really nice. Cons: Room wasnt ready on arrival at check in hour. had to go with double instead of triple... kinda […] bad when you just crossed the atlantic... Shower head was broken This Hotel lack disciplined regarding the behavior of the other guest. Was so noisy we coudnt sleep of the first 2 days out of 3 because of a bunch of noisy student on all floor. They didint care first night we had to change room after repeated complain at 2 :00 am. I'm spending half my life in hotel with my work but this was the craziest i've seen.... No change on the second night party till 4:00am on every level and even in staircase... Doors and windows are not insonorize enough sound goes through it like paper. On the second morning after several complain for half the guest they finally conceded that it was crazy and they offer us to place us with several guests on another hotel. after reading numerous reviews i decided to stay here. The area was not the best, but after walking around Athens, I decided that most areas were the same as this. The convienience to the subway system was great. I was only a few blocks away. The room was clean and staff were friendly and answered all questions I had. My favorite thing was the roof […] top restaurant/bar. Amazing view and food was good. Breakfast was standard including boiled eggs, toast, meats and cheese, and cerial. Nothing fancy, but was good enough to get you thru to lunch. Would not hessitate to stay there again Les mer

If on a tight budget- consider staying here. But if you have a little more to spend I would recommend stayng elsewhere. Pluses: inexpensive, view of Acropolis at night from balcony and from Roof Terrace w/bar, front desk helpful w/providing strike info and booking tours, Metro really close, City hop on hop off bus stops near hotel (we used this because […] there was a metro strike in Athens during our stay. Negatives: busy loud street, bad neighborhood- we were offered drugs in broad daylight (we don't fit the normal drug user profile), loud door banging late at night kept us awake (no soundproofing here), accomodations old making it less pleasant of a stay. My fiance and me spent a wonderful week in this hotel, for the price we paid it's more than good. The view is the best you can get, straight at Acropolis. Every morning fresh clean sheets and towels, and quite clean Hotel in general. Metro station is just 2 minutes walking and if you want you can walk to Gazi in 10 or 15 minutes... Good location, big room (for a budget European hotel), food was standard european breakfast, outstanding acropolis view from roof terrace (open in the evening), wifi worked only from the room's door. Overall if you're on a tight budget is a good value.

The hotel is cheap and you get what you pay for. The surrounding area is not nice and if you go for a look around and end up in a small street you are likely to feel unsafe. There's a dishevelled building next door which has a homeless person sleeping in and you will find people living on the streets nearby with the drug and prostitution issues that […] brings. The room was basic and everything looked tired. The bed was two very uncomfortable singles pushed together. It was not as the pictures showed. The breakfast was actually quite good. You can have yoghurt, fruit, sweet and savoury bread and cheese and ham. The roof top bar has a lovely view of the acropolis and is a real surprise and pleasant place to have a drink. The location is very close to the metro service which is excellent. For 1.40 euros you get a 1.5 hour ticket and you can be in the central points within ten mins of leaving the hotel. We suffered three days of strikes where there was no transport. Not even taxis on one day. The service was hit and miss. One lady was nice, the others seemed a little put out to have someone in the hotel. Les mer

The Metro station is just 2 minutes from the hotel. Neighborhood is OK, it is safe but not maybe the cleanest area. We took a room with 3 single beds, the room was not big but enough to have your stuff next to the beds. Breakfast is the regular basic buffet. Service is OK, some are very kind and other won't even greet you when you say hello. Plus […] for the roof restaurant/bar. Shame they close it before midnight every day. Les mer

We stayed in this hotel to start our journey in Greece and to finish our stay in Greece. The location was great, 2 minute walk from the Metro, which takes you anywhere in Athens and is the best way to travel around Athens. The AC worked good as well, a little slow to start but eventually got the room more than cool on a hot day. The buffet breakfast […] was more than adequate with sweet bread, scrambled eggs, hard boiled eggs, peaches, oatmeal, cereal, ham and cheese, etc. Also has a restaurant onsite and free internet too. Other top of the location, Maria at the front desk was a PHENOMENAL help. Not only did she give great directions on what routes to take, she saved us! We accidentally left $200 USD in the safe before we left back to the U.S. Maria communicated greatly with email and mailed our money back to us!!! How often does that happen? The Apollo hotel is a decent budget hotel, unfortunately it is located in a somewhat seedy part of town. I wouldn't recommend going out alone late at night, but I think that's a given pretty much in any big city. The rooms themselves were a good size and the beds were passable. There was a double-decker bus stop and metro station about 1 block away from the hotel which was convenient if you didn't want to take the taxi. In terms of amenities, there was a free continental breakfast with toast, cereal, eggs, fruit, coffee/tea every morning. In addition, there was a cafe serving food and drinks on the rooftop every evening until around midnight. From the roof, there was a great view of the Acropolis. There is free wifi in the room. There is an in room safe, but mine didn't work and I don't know if others had issues. Overall an okay hotel, but not in a good part of town. Les mer

Rooms were clean and spacious with working A/C. We had requested a double bed but were given two twins, and they were unable to switch as they said the hotel was full - however, I was still able to find rooms available on hotels.ca. Very nice massaging chair in foyer. No secure space for leaving luggage. Rooftop patio was very nice but we were not allowed […] to bring up our own bottle of wine. Breakfast was good - lots of food. Hotel was about a ten minute walk to the tourist spots through a bit of a dodgy neighbourhood (I get the feeling there are quite a few 'dodgy neighbourhoods' in Athens). We found a better option was a two minute walk to the metro to take that instead of walking even though it isn't far. If you can afford it, stay right in the touristy area. We stayed here 2 nights. Our hotel room had a view of the acropolis. We had free wifi and hotel lobby computer. Lobby also had a massage chair which was nice. We had dinner on the rooftop bar which was delicious. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The neighborhood looked a little shady but we were only 2 blocks from metro so felt safe walking […] there. We would definitely stay here again. Hotel was nice; in a ok neighborhood. Very close to the metro and sightseeing bus tours. The bed was in need of an update, but the room was clean and neat. Our room had a nice balcony and looking to the left was a fantastic view of the Acropolis. Athens is a wonderful holiday city. Don't be bothered by other people complaining about the neighborhood. It is not great, but very little of Athens is somewhere I would walk around in the middle of the night. Hotel was clean, quiet, staff was very nice, and breakfast was simple but good. Overall highly recommend for the price.

Was given a room with broken air-conditioning and requested for a change, however with much difficulty. was given alot excuses at the beginning and after demanding a refund was granted a change of room. generally the staff was impolite, except for the guy in the reception. we are all very disappointed as the place didn't turn out like how the pictures […] showed and how other reviewers described it to be. The Apollo hotel was really a dump. We had to move to a hotel half a block away. The accommodations were pathetic. I would give them minus a star. Do not recommend it to anyone.

The hotel was very convenient to the metro station, just a 2 minute walk away, but the neighborhood was very very sketchy. Locals did not speak highly of it at all. The rooms have thin walls, you can hear everything out in the halls. if you dont plan on spending much time at your hotel and just want to be near all the main attractions, then this is […] the hotel for you. Yes it is inexpensive and adequate, however it is just not in a great area. It takes a while to get to the major sights of Athens from there. The staff were adequately helpful and friendly. My biggest issue was the noise factor. My room was on the 6th flora. A roof bar above was a source of noise all night. Kids running up and down stairs, banging doors […] and generally being totally inconsiderate. The Apollo needs to look at this facility and decide whether it is fair to have people inconvenienced directly below. Music, furniture being scraped along the floor, loud voices etc made sleep impossible on several nights. Les mer

This hotel is nicely located a block from the convenient Metaxourghio Metro station, with simple amenities but a good breakfast and friendly staff. However, it is on a busy street, requiring us to keep the window closed at night- with relatively cool weather, the lack of air conditioning was not too uncomfortable. This was a very reasonable neighborhood and very convenient to the metro. It had an international clientele of all ages and was a really great value and good stopping off point to see Athens in a day or two.

Love the view of Acropolis from the roof top restaurant. Food is good - healthy breakfast fill us up for the day. Room is comfortable - air con working well. I left my keys in the room - called the hotel the same day, with no hesitation, they are happy to send them to me in the post - very good service! I will recommend this hotel to anyone.

Those looking for a clean budget hotel with friendly and helpful staff can find this at Hotel Apollo. Well located although in a seemingly seedy area, it is safe to walk alone at night. Well recommended

Older hotel, with small rooms. Shower was small. Our room was neat and clean and made fresh daily. A/C worked OK. Room had a small fridge. Lots of hallway noise with guest coming and going and slaming doors. The double sliding patio door blocked out most of the street noise. WiFi did not work in our room during 2 seperate stays on either the 3rd or […] 4th floor, but did work in the lobby. The staff was very helpful and everyone spoke english. Breakfast was OK. Has easy access to Metro and Bus stop but I would not walk the street at night. Great view from the rooftop. 24 hour fast food is right across the street. 100 meters (across from a tire store) where you can buy bottled water cold soda or wine for a reasonable price. Overall this hotel OK for our needs and the price was good. I would stay again, Les mer

Somehow we had cigarette smoke pour into our room throughout the night, but this is a non-smoking hotel except for down in the lobby/bar area. Bed uncomfortable, friendly staff and great location to catch the metro or tour bus.
