La Grande Residence Vancouver at The Sutton Place Hotel - Vancouver

Good location to downtown sites. We loved having a kitchen, dining room and living room plus the bedroom. Grocery store across the street with prepared food, Good restaurants nearby especially Joeys. Has a pull out couch for kids.

Service was great, but room was average. Bed was a bit too soft, but comfy and clean. Pool was nice. We ate at a contemporary restaurant that was kiddy corner from the hotel, it was fantastic.

Very nice and central and well appointed suite

worst bed ever. Felt like I was sleeping on a rock. Woke up so sore and stiff. Had a headache for two days. Worst bed ever.....and I stay in a lot of hotels. Bathroom old and tired. came for my birthday.......how sad

I recently stayed at this hotel on a 4 day trip involving business and pleasure. I am in Vancouver 3-5 times per year for extended business/personal visits, but this was a first time to this hotel. The Hotel appeared nice online and the lobby and entrance looked very nice. Unfortunately nothing else supported this "packaging." Upon arrival we saw the […] same as noted in other comments, while location and size are good, the condition of carpeting and furniture is best described as worn and in need of replacement. Other issues: non-functioning coffee machine taking two tries to get a working one; non-functioning toilet last day (no adequate effort by staff to remedy really anything). Heating unit made portions of the room shake and vibrate (again - despite complaints - no action by staff to address). When finally after the non-working toilet fiasco I asked for a call from the General Manager, instead I got a call from a manager of the day. She indicated GM was gone all week but would call me afterwards. It has been 10 days -- still waiting. This place should be listed as a Budget hotel at a midrange price. There are so many other options in Vancouver FAR superior to this hotel. Les mer

We stayed in a suite recently while in town for a concert. The hotel has a very classy, grand feeling, without being too big and uncomfortable. Its beautiful, the location is right in downtown, we walked to AND from our concert. I think we were lucky to have a corner balcony, some views may not be great in this area. The 1br suite was huge, it really […] is a 1br appartment. We only ate out, so I can't comment on the food. My husband said the pool was nice.The great service stands out, it started with how the valets treated me. They were really nice and very professional. Same treatment at the front desk, people jump to your service with a smile as soon as they see you. It didnt matter that I wasnt wearing a designer jacket. Put it this way, even if I had paid full price for my suite in the grande residences I would still say that my expereince was fantastic. I was made to feel like somoone special from the first step in to last one out. Celebrities are not the only ones to receive top notch service at this hotel! Les mer

Beautiful hotel with a very central location. We stayed in a 1 bedroom suite and were very impressed by all the amenities included (Queen bed, sofa bed, kitchen, dining room, patio etc...). A little disappointed with the bathroom as it was quite small and had a tub/shower combination with a tub which would be very uncomfortable to bathe in. Also, the […] valet parking was the most I have ever paid at any place I have stayed in both Canada and the US (there is no option to self park). That said, the Valet Service was exceptional and probably worth the $5-$8/night more than other hotels. The spa facilities were immaculate and really enjoyed having a steam room in the men's change room. Overall service was excellent and would highly recommend this hotel to any of my friends. Great room and great service. The only negative was the lack of hot water - even as early as 6 a.m. and that the rooms were often not cleaned until so late in the day (after 5 when we were out of the room since 10 a.m. each day) Having said that I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Lovely location, High price. You pay for the location. They know you have 3 people checking in, but only towels for 2. The beds are amazing!!!! But we were short pillows as well.

The staff were of the friendliest that I have ever encountered in my travels. They were courteous and professional and went out of their way to be helpful. I stayed in a one bedroom condo, which was quite large and nicely appointed. It was clean and very well kept. I highly recommend this hotel.

The "grand residence" building ain't so grand! The suite was tired, early-80s, low ceilings, original bathroom and kitchen, economy FF&E. The parking charges for seven nights worked out to another nights stay.

This part of the hotel have a lounge, dining and kitchen which is on another side of hotel. Hotel has a grand foyer and in a fantastic position, close to everything. Across the road from hop on hop off bus. Great location for restaurants, shopping just around the corner to Robson St. At first we had a room close to elevator, but I just asked to be moved […] and the receptionist was very helpful and moved us to another floor well away from elevator. Room was large and very clean. Bed was comfortable. Had a little balcony. Would highly recommend. Les mer

We recently stayed at this fine hotel in a suite with a self-catering kitchen for 5 nights from 15thSeptember 2011. Throughout our stay we were very impressed with the high standard of the accommodation, very good housekeeping and exceptional attentive customer service. Without a doubt this hotel is impeccable and we recommend it wholeheartedly.

wonderful hotel and an amazing Sunday brunch

Just around the corner from Robson Street, coffee bars all around, big supermarket next door, quiet hotel very soundproof, good rates per courtesy of Hotels.com,, within easy walking distance from good restaurants and good shopping, banks and ATMs. What more could you want? Will always stay there when in Vancouver from now on.

The various staff at the concierge's desk were extremely helpful and gave us some invaluable advice from how to get around and where to eat. The location is fantastic, almost in the middle of downtown(but it is a 10 min walk to Canada place). There is a supermarket directly across the road and the coffee shop either at the front or around the corner […] offer free internet(there is a daily charge at La GrandeThe suite is very large and very well fitted out. This was a great hotel. Central location, nice suites. It made our trip to Vancouver so much more enjoyable.

Excellent location. Our room was an apartment so had a full kitchen. There was a supermarket right next door for supplies. Staff very helpful. Overall great stay.

This is the second time we stay there with two 4, and 6 yr old, and works perfect! ONLY PROBLEM: I booked one night and when we arrived to check-in, there was a paid-for reservation for 6 nights!! Thankfully I was able to show my Hotels.com reservation for 1 night, but it took 30min+ to get us to the room, and with hungry and tired kids it can be a […] hustle! Camila Les mer

Walkable to anywhere in downtown Vancouver. Hotel staff very friendly and responsive. Nice work out room, pool & spa. Sun Deck a bonus. Only complaint is the restauant offers a tenderloin, lobster & chocolate dinner and Saturday night at 7:00 there was no lobster left. Very disappointing as a special birthday dinner was planned. I spent considerable time choosing this hotel, mainly for it's location. But I figured by the price and the name that it would indeed be grand. The four nights prior to my stay here was in a hotel in Vegas where I paid considerably less and the rooms could not be compared. My initial room on checkin I had to be moved from because the airconditioning […] unit was so noisy. The second room was only marginally better. The airconditioning units are right outside the bedroom/lounge area and old. I am also guessing that because I booked through this website, therefore at a reduced rate, you get rooms of a lower standard and on the first floor. So I would have to say I was very disappointed. Our room had leaks in the ceiling, a bathroom door that got stuck on the floor (had to lift it to open and close), a main bedroom door that squeaked very loudly, air conditioning unit that would wake the dead and kitchen cabinets insides that smelled of mould. Not one of our families most pleasant experiences

My daughter and I were very pleased by our suite. We were especially impressed by the cleaning crew. We felt that they went above and beyond what we would have expected every day of out 4 day stay. Front desk was also very accommodating when we arrived early (11 a.m.) -- they found a room for us.

The Sutton Place is in a great location. It allows excellent access to all of the major attractions and areas in Vancouver. If only for this reason, it is a good place to stay if you can get a good rate. In other areas, the Grande Residence itself is just ok. The rooms feel a bit tired and in need of renovation. My fiancee and I also may have had a […] less than stellar room. We we're originally placed in a room in which the carpets were damp from having just been clean. We asked to be moved and ended up in the apparently the only room (as we later learned from the bellhop) which had an external floor A/C unit and also did not have the widescreen TV that all the rooms came with. For some reason, we also couldn't use the paperview on our TV despite having multiple people come try to fix it. All of that being said, all the people we interacted with at the Sutton Place were very friendly and (at least tried to be) helpful. It seems like if they could just invest a little more money into overhauling their amenities it could be a great place to stay. Les mer

I used hotels.com to book a reasonable alternative to conference hotels at Canada Place for my entire family in Vancouver in July. This apartment style room worked perfectly for our family as we were able to have privacy and the kids got the big tv! Staff was extremely helpful with directions and info, however they did tend to recommend pricier shops […] and restaurants. Parking was a pain, as we refused to pay $40/day and my husband moved the car from free evening parking right next to the hotel to $10/day parking over at Stanley Park. Business Center was expensive as well, but the pool and fitness center were great. Definitely recommend to families looking for convenient apartment style hotel in posh surroundings. Les mer

Excellent rooms, service, and location

Really nice hotel, the room was great and in a great central location. Only negative was parking at $39 per night was rather high.

The hotel staff was extremely friendly and helpful. It is in a wonderful location, just a bit outdated. I would still recommend it.

This hotel was excellent. I highly recommend staying here. The hotel was spotless, the rooms were huge, the view was fantastic, the staff was amazing, and it had a perfect location. This is by far one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed at. Highly recommended!

Super convinient location. Great Hotel Staff. Great Amenities. Very comfortable bed. Bathroom is a little smaller than the Sutton Place Hotel and the room decor is not comparable with the Sutton Place Hotel. But, it was nice to have a living room, dining area and kitchen. We had a great time.

We stay just for one night but the suite was perfect. Nice location and everything we needed close by.

Overall it was very nice. I loved the boutique-style public rooms , all with marble floors and tasteful furniture. In the heart of Vancouver it isn't necessary to move your vehicle with a wide variety of restaurants close by, Vancouver Art Gallery, theaters, sky train, etc. I would definitely recommend the hotel to my friends. The hotel staff was friendly and very helpful from the time I arrived until the time I left. Yes the parking was expensive but if you check out most other places (hotels) in the Vancouver area you will see that they are close in price and some even more and not so convenient. The pool and hot tub were great and my room (a suite) was very nice, clean […] and comfortable. There is a grocery store 1/2 block from the hotel and this is great for getting snacks etc - especially if you have children with you. I would (will) stay at this hotel again. Les mer

Right in the heart of Downtown. Great night life surrounding the hotel (e.g. lots of people walking and talking, bike riding,etc.) seemed to be a good safe environment.

I stayed at the residence at the Sutton Place Hotel for a conference I recently attended and was very pleased. The staff are wonderfully friendly without being robotic about it. The room was cleaned impeccably each day. Moreover, the layout of the room was smart and comfortable. I would highly recommend this to friends and colleagues.
