Maldron Hotel Parnell Square - Dublin

I would definately consider staying at this hotel again. A comfortable stay, central location and friendly and accomodating staff. Food in the restaurant is slightly over priced but very tasty. Overall, good value for money.

Great Hotel, comfortable, clean and fantastic value

We thoroughly enjoyed our short break at the Maldron Parnell Square. My only complaint would be the lack of noise insulation. I could hear the gentleman in the room next door using the bathroom during the night and his bathroom was on the far side of his room! We had sleep issues on a couple of nights due to other people taking advantage of the cheap […] rates and partying in their rooms. I would still consider staying here again, however. I chose to ignore the comments about the area and am glad I did cause this hotel is just fantastic.Beautiful spacious rooms which were spotless and fantastic staff.Loved it there.

We stayed here on our final night in Dublin. The staff was helpful, even assisted with our rental car pickup. Even though parking is very minimal (5 places), we were able to park behind the hotel for a short time. They even arranged for a cab ride to the airport, explaining it would be the same cost if we took an airport shuttle bus. I would stay here […] again, great rate and clean! Les mer

Both myself and my wife had a 1 night stay, the hotel itself was perfectly fine and I would like to single out the restaurant/bar staff who were very friendly and efficient. But our whole stay was ruined by the fact that we were told to park in a public car park across the road and were never told that we it would cost us 24 euro when we went to retrieve […] the car at 11am next morning. It was absolutely ridiculous that there was no special rate between the hotel and the car park, and if there was we were never told about it, this is the reason why i could not recomend this hotel, parking is too expensive!!! Perfect for my requirements, slight inconvenience that the bar/resteraunt does not open until 6:00pm.

My husband and I recently stayed at the Maldron Hotel-Parnell Square for 3 nights, and we are both very pleased with our stay. The staff (with the exception of one bartender) was friendly, and we found the hotel to be in a convenient location, as it is very close to O'Connell Street, but it is NOT in the middle of the city. You must enjoy walking if […] you plan on using this hotel as a base for your trip to Dublin. It takes only about 10 minutes to walk from the Airlink stop (we used Airlink747 to and from the airport and found it VERY convenient). When you get off the bus, walk straight towards O'Connell street and turn right. Turn left onto Parnell Street (where there's a large statue), then right onto Parnell Square, and the hotel is the last building on the right. The bed was very comfortable, however the pillows were hard as rocks (this seemed to be the trend though in all 6 hotels we stayed at while in Europe). You do need to leave the key in a slot to turn the power on to the room, which is a nice effort to go "green." We didn't need the A/C while we were there, but if you go in the summer months, just make sure you get two keys so you can leave the A/C running during the day while you are out and about. The TV only gets like 6 channels, and to turn it on, you have to a punch a number (any number) on the remote. Isn't that weird? We had to call the front desk to find that out. If you like to walk, don't waste your money on a bus pass. We literally walked everywhere (all the way to Kilmainham Gaol!) and enjoyed the scenery and buildings that we passed. We never got food in the hotel, but the pizza place across the street (labeled as "Probably the best pizza in Ireland") was shockingly good! The area around the hotel was a little skivvy at night, but that's usually the case in a big city. The free broadband was a giant plus for us. The bathroom was large and clean, and the bedroom was a decent size. We would definitely stay here again if we ever return to Dublin. Les mer

Stayed in the Maldron from Fri to Sun this month. The room was lovely, more like a 4 star room. Was really comfortable, brilliant big shower and large bed. My only criticism is that it seems to be on the edge of a bit of a dodgy area, although I felt relatively safe there. good location for O'Connell St. Henry St. and Mater Hospital

Stayed in this hotel as is close to the maternity hospital my wife had her baby in. Had a few long days and was happy to get back at night to a very helpful staff who had a small food menu until 11 at night which was great. A handy location at a great price for Dublin city centre though the surrounding area is quiet at night. Nice and comfortable hotel located in a quiet not too secure neighborhood (especially in the night). Just 10 minutes walk from core downtown. Quiet room (courtyard side), comfortable mattress, clean, very simple bathroom, no bath set but a liquid soap dispenser for hands and another one for body/hair in the bath tub, pretty low and small sink. My wife recently stayed in the Maldron Parnell st. as I was attending the Mater Private hospital which is just up the road. We picked the Maldron because of its location near the hospital. The first problem we had was parking - there is practically none at the hotel itself - about 10 or so spaces in a cramped underground car park which you cannot pre-book. […] I had to park in a public car park across the road which more resembled a bomb site - I was able to get a space at the hotel later and moved my car over. When I got in the lift and the door closed - I noticed a toolbox on the floor near the back with a black folder beside it - I took no notice until the lift didnt appear to be moving. Afte pressing a few buttons to try open the door etc it started to move and i noticed an 'out of service' message in red on the panel. I was now a bit worried as the lift seemed to be moving extremely slowly. After about five or six minutes in a very hot, stuffy lift - it finally stopped and the door opened - I had to step up to clear the floor to get out as the lift had not parked correctly at floor level. I found this experience pretty scary. There was no notice or anyone around when I got in the lift. The hotel itself is comfortable - but it seems pretty cramped both in room size and reception/bar/restaurant area - which was also very small. The staff in the hotel itself - (reception staff, as i didn't deal with anyone else) were very polite, very efficient and helpful. The area surrounding the hotel itself was not very nice. It gave off an air of foreboding and on the short walk from the hotel to the hospital my wife was stopped by a guy on the street begging a cigarette from her. Overall the hotel is ok, once you don't have to leave it, even at that the rooms are very small and the reception and bar area very small also. Les mer

The location of the hotel was very convenient to local amenities such as a shopping centre, places to eat, tour busses and Temple Bar. We opted for the hop on hop off bus tour as we were sightseeing primarily and used it both days to get around and see what we wanted to see. After much trawling through the web for hotels in Dublin, I eventually decided on the Maldron. I wasn't disappointed. The hotel was great in every respect and we truly couldn't fault it for comfort, cleanliness, and location. A very convenient location just away from the hustle and bustle of O'Connell Street but within easy walking distance. A few minutes walk from the Hugh Lane Gallery, a lovely art gallery with a wonderful cafe/restaurant in the basement (a hidden secret!) and a short walk from the airoport link bus into Dublin Airport. Stayed in this hotel twice during our trip to Ireland: First visit – small room, double bed, small LCD TV, and small bathroom with shower, Second visit – large family room, queen bed and single bed, large LCD TV, large bathroom with tub. Rooms were clean and comfortable and service was good. Kingfisher cafe down the street had better food at lower prices […] than the hotel restaurant. The hotel is very close to public transportation, the airport shuttle and sightseeing buses. It’s a 15 minute walk from the Temple Bar district and 20 minutes by foot to the chic shopping area at St. Stephen's Green. However, it’s quiet at night – no drunken people signing rugby & futbol (soccer) cheers outside your hotel window in the streets at all hours. The neighborhood surrounding the hotel is an older business district and working-class neighborhood that looks a bit deserted and distressed at night. However there’s relatively little crime in Ireland by US standards, so anyone who has traveled to NYC, DC, or Chicago won’t be intimated. If you approach the hotel from O'Connell and Parnell Streets on the east side (by the Rotunda hospital) you’ll skip the less picturesque areas. Les mer

Possibly the worst hotel i have ever stayed in.Room 123 was cramped and noisy.It was clean but very small and impossible to get a decent night's sleep, as there were motors coming on and going off all night. The breakfast was the worst i have ever got in any hotel i have ever stayed in.It was cold,burnt and was obviously cooked hours before and not […] kept properly hot.There were no fried eggs on the menu,very poor selection of fruit and yogurt.It was very poor value for money as i paid 35 euro on check-in for the doubtful privilege of eating it. I paid that money to eat weetabix and a slice of brown bead on both mornings, as the rest of what was on offer was not edible. Overall i would not reccomend this hotel to my worst enemy.The location is not safe....i would not walk in that area at night.The staff are nice and friendly but that fails to compensate for all the other shortcomings. This hotel was fine, however the neighborhood late at night is a bit dicey if walking from the city. We had a wake up call in one morning for a tour we were taking and they called us one hour early. This was a problem for us at the time because we got in late and it was already an early call. Made for a tiring day. The reception staff was very apologetic […] and actually showed me the operators log where they made the mistake. Staff was helpful with directions and the air conditioning worked well, which is sometimes rare here. Overall, i would recommend to others. Les mer

The Maldron fit our need well for one night prior to our flight on to London. The room had a floor to ceiling window that faced a picturesque view of the area providing lots of light. Decor is modern and the room was clean and orderly. The soap in the dispenser in the shower ran out and there was no lotion or shower cap available. Tea and coffee is […] in the room. Les mer

Overall a reasonable hotel. Staff a little slow at reception - data inputting whilst allowing a queue to form before finally deciding to book us in after 5 minutes. Being told that there was outstanding payment on a pre-paid booking was a little irritating. Nicely appointed room; Bed was firm as I like. The bathtub was extra long. Great for a nice soak.

Spent two nights. Arrived early therefore unable to check in but staff helpful and held onto my bags until rooms ready. Rooms clean , bathroom nice and I had built in ironing board and trouser press. Hotel is clean and tidy, approx 5-10mins walk from city centre. located few minutes walk from various and regular bus routes. Stayed 2 nites, morning room service only includes for making the bed and not replacing linen sheets or towels etc. Lack of labelling for the tea & coffee facilities which are located in the cupboard with ironing board and trouser […] press. Extremely powerful shower and clean white ensuite bathroom. Buffet breakfast very expensive. Staff very friendly. Niteclub on opposite side of road which hadnt yet opened but being repainted during our stay (in April). Very noisy traffic as hotel is located on the corner of a main traffic light junction. Was advised by staff to not go out on the opposite side of the hotel as its 'not a good area'. The music channel on the room tv is capped to half the normal volume strentgh so hardly able to hear unless physically sat in front of the tv with the window shut! i guess this is to prevent people disturbing neighbour rooms. Would recommend the hotel for the cost and location but not the noise unless you can specify a room not located at the front of the hotel. Would definitely stay with the Maldron Hotel group again Les mer

I stayed for an overnight with my parents and booked two rooms. My room was already nice and big, with a huge bed, but my parents room was a hall that had enough space for 4 people. The hotel is clean, comfortable and fairly close to the city center. The only annoying thing was that the hotels parking lot was full so I had to park my car in a near by […] parking place. Well at least the hotel had a special deal with that place, so I only paid 6 Euro for 24 hours. Les mer

We have stayed in the Maldron hotel Parnell Square before and will stay again, It's a great value hotel with good rooms pleasant staff and very good meals at an affordable price. The breakfast, a semi self service buffet is excellent, will really set you up for the day, I Have also booked dinner bed and breakfast at his hotel and I would recommend it. […] We enjoyed an excellent meal. Its close enough to O'Connell St and all of the attrations of Dublin and although the immediate surrounding area is not particularly pleasant the hotel itself makes up for it. The place is really close to the City Center and a ton of buses. From there you can walk to Temple Bar, Trinity College, but it is definitely a hike. I was there during the St. Patrick's celebration and the parade starts literally in front of the hotel entrance. That was great. Not great, were the loud drunks at 3AM in the next room. The staff was […] super friendly and when we arrived at 6AM after a sleepless flight they did what they could to get us into a room sooner rather than later, but considering the time a year that wasn't possible.
