ok, some rooms are small and not all of them seem to have windows - oops, sounds akward, but it actually isn't. you get great value for your buck: free internet, sauna, laundry, gym and so on... woudn't maybe stay like two weeks or so, but for the two nights we stayed, it was just great! Guess, next time again!

This hotel was a gem, close to everything, clean, free wifi, very reasonably priced. Room was small, but that was expected but the way the room was set up to maximise space was impressive and provides great ideas for anyone doing rennovations. Glad I was there in January before the quake of 22 Feb, so let's hope this gem survives.

My husband and I really enjoyed our recent stay at the All Seasons hotel on Cashel Street. As an architect, I was thrilled by the unique space saving design. We stayed in the So Snug double bed room. The hotel is right down town so the location is excellent especially for the price. The rooms are very very small but if it is only to sleep it is not a real problem. It is basically just a bed with about 4 feet and the toilet and shower in the corner, and store your luggage under the bed. The "maid" service does not exist, if you want clean sheets […] and towels you need to go down to the lobby and get them. It is up to you to keep your room to the state of cleanliness you want. For the price and location it can't be beat. Yes I would recommend this hotel again if you don't mind a very very small room. Les mer

room with no window! No air comming throu...feels like prison

Hotel location is good, near to Cathederal, Botanic Gardens and restaurants. Hotel room was very modern with mood lighting and wake up lighting. It was very clean with a comfortable but small bed in the smallest hotel room I have ever stayed in. We worked out a one system so we didn't collide with each other. The restaurant had a good menu. The room a little small for two people but saying that it was a place to stay one night and ended up very comfortable. Front desk people great at check in an were just as good when checking out next day. If you only want somewhere to stay one or two nights in the middle of the city, got to say great place! Would stay again!!

THIS HOTEL HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE PHOTOS ON THE SITE. THE ROOMS ARE SO SMALL ( I HAVE LIVED IN EUROPE), THAT YOU HAVE NO STORAGE OR A PLACE FOR YOUR LUGGAGE. WHAT YOU GET IS A BED AND A QUASI BATHROOM. I ULTIMATELY DECIDED TO OPT OUT AND PAY FOR ANOTHER HOTEL AFTER STAYING ONE NIGHT IN WHAT WAS TANTAMOUNT TO A LARGE CLOSET. DON'T STAY HERE.

Tiny, tiny rooms. I definately got what I paid for. The room could not have been smaller or more compact. Convenient location. Not impressed by the fee for parking next door in the parking station. Breakfast downstairs in the restaurant was good. Reasonably priced. A1 for internet access. This impressed me the most. Everywhere else I stayed in NZ, I […] had to pay to access the internet (as I did not take a computer with me). Overall, value for money. Les mer

The location is wonderful if you like to be near the action but the city noise was the worst of any hotel I've stayed at my entire life. There were teenagers with a bullhorn singing outside of our window one night, and both nights the spillover from nearby bars happened until well after 3am. Our supposedly great sleep/wake electronic system also stopped […] working during our stay and when we informed the front desk their response was "Ok, what did you do to it?" Well we had done nothing to it, it just stopped working and there was no offer to move us, give us some type of credit, or fix it during our stay; we just had to do without it, inconvenient for waking up to check out the following morning. They even had the audacity to call us when we were a few minutes late coming down to check out to remind us we had to leave, even though we had asked for a late checkout, had no alarm system, and were kept up by street noise until all hours. Had to be one of the worst hotel experiences of my life. Do not stay here unless money prevents you from going somewhere else. THe only positive I can say is the free internet was nice and worked reasonbly quickly for me. Les mer

Excellent location, nice and central to shopping, bars and cafes...within walking distance. Room was lovely, small but comfortable, very modern. Nothing flash but suited our needs perfectly, affordable without roughing it. Mood lighting was fantastic - great way to go to sleep and even better to wake up to. Would definitely recommend to stay there!

Do not book this hotel UNLESS what you want is just somewhere to sleep and shower. My boyfriend and I arrived in Christchurch very late at night and had to be on the road early the next morning, so we literally just wanted somewhere to sleep, change, shower and maybe watch an hour of TV. This hotel is perfect for that. The room was tiny, but very new […] and clean, and has funky features like mood lighting. The bathroom is compact but a decent shower makes it all ok. There is a TV over the bed -- main complaint is that some channels weren't working. I wouldn't recommend this to people who want space, or who are travelling with someone you're not comfortable being physically close to; but to people who just want a comfortable bed and want to be right in the heart of the CBD this is perfect. Downstairs of the hotel is a nice bar and restaurant and free internet too, great for people wanting to plan their next stop. Highly recommended. I'd definitely stay here again. Les mer

Dont stay here if you want a good nights sleep - the hotel is a great design, really compact and very cool. The design of the shower and toilet and how they fit this in to the show box size room is genius. The lighting and design fantastic (you can choose your own lighting mood in the shower). Only problem is that the hotel is located right in the middle […] of the night club precinct - so don't expect any sleep. Our suggestion - take some ear plugs. Les mer

I stayed here twice in December, one night at the beginning of my trip, and 2 nights at the end. The first night, I had a room on the first floor, and it was literally a closet. Cozy isn't the word, cubicle is better. I was expecting small, but I could barley function in this room, let alone imagine 2 people in it. 11 days later, I was given a room […] on the 5th floor, and I was much happier, because it was larger. I didn't feel closed in as before. The shower/toilet corner was exactly the same in both rooms, it felt like a bathroom in a camper. Unfortunately too small. Again, I really don't see how 2 people can have any privacy in this sort of setup. The hotel is centrally located in downtown Christchurch, so you can walk to everything. There are lots of bars and clubs in the area, and I recommend earplugs is you want to get to sleep before 3am because you will hear people and music all night. There are no cups or ice bucket or lotions like Americans are used to in US hotels. There is coffee/tea makings in each room and since the voltage is higher there, water boils in seconds which is nice. The towels were thick and soft, soaps and shampoo packets are provided, as well as hair dryer and iron. The other odd thing was the little refrigerator in each room didn't seem to get cold, though I had it on the coldest setting. I didn't make use of the 'mood' lighting as it is in the bathroom and didn't really affect the entire room, but I had a window each time so that may have been why. The staff was very courteous, and the imac computers were very convenient for checking email and flight status. I liked the fireplace channel on the tv, it was a cute touch. The gym had all the basics, I did not check out the sauna so I can't comment. There are laundry facilities as well as luggage storage since check out is 10am. There was no signage explaining that you have to put your room key card into a slot to make your room lights work, so it took some experimenting on my end until I fig Les mer

I stayed here after a couple of weeks living at hostels, around New Zealand. This was a cheap hotel, and you get the thing you paid for. It was no problem and everyone was polite and helpful.

City center makes it a great location to just go downstairs and be surrounded by food and shopping. The down side of that is having to pay for garage parking or watch paid street parking. Another big downside was that the night life is VERY loud here. Stayed here twice, first time the room was TINY. The two of us were stepping all over each other just […] trying to stand up. We were on the first floor with a window, so the night life noise sounded like it was right there in your room and went on until about 2-3am. Second time, the room was much larger and comfortable. We asked for a higher up room, and got one with no window which was perfect. Alarm system here is great... a light above the bed slowly turns on to wake you until the alarm (TV) turns on. Les mer

I love how modern this hotel was. It was a lot of fun to stay here. We were in Christchurch only one night during the week. Hotel So was perfect for our needs. The rooms are small but thought went in to the design. All of our bags were able to be tucked under the bed, out of the way. The bathroom pod was different than anything we had seen but it was […] very clean and just enough room to shower but no room for counter space. The bar had a nice happy hour and pretty good food. It had a nice crowd and seemed to be the only place worth going to on the mid week day. Les mer

Hotel So has seriously deteriorated from its condition during my last stay. Much shabbier. Stains on the carpet and on the duvet cover of the bedding, large sticky spots all over the telephone cord. While it is a budget hotel, its current condition would definitely prevent me from staying again, especially since they have converted the kitchen/lounge/balcony […] into a conference room so guests no longer have use of these facilities. For the price excellent value. Second day no servicing of rooms. A virtual concier available, but don't expect receiption to help with anything like getting a bottle opener or ordering a taxi.

This is a really cool hotel, must have the most comfortable beds and fantastic pillows that I have ever slept on in any hotel and that includes some very high end ones. We had the king size room, with a window but our daughter had the double one without a window and said that she did not feel clastrophobic at all, due to the huge mirror and extremely […] effective lighting. We played for good 1/2 hour with the various lighting systems and loved the mood lights. Make sure that you use the sauna, it is great. The gym - the size of it is quite impressive. The food at the cafe is outstanding, although not the cheapest. If I ever come back to Christchurch I will definitely be staying there, although when the word gets out I imagine that it will be booked out. My daughter made a point that it is probably not the best place to stay if you are on your honeymoon, because the bathroom cubicle, although very pretty is not very private. You might not be able to see much if your partner is sitting on the toilet, but you can certainly hear them! If however you are a single traveller or a long term couple comfortable with each other, I highly recommend hotel SO. I give the hotel 5 five stars, and yes, this review is genuine, nobody offered me any money nor the free accomodation to write it (but it would be welcomed LOL). So hotel was a great start to our trip, very centrally located and generally a great experience. Les mer

A very convenient location and a very good concept. A few things could be twigged. We returned for another night. If you don't mind not have much space it is quiet a reasonable price relative to other accommodation available.

We did not expect to have a room so small that we could hardly fit into it and no window at all. However everything worked and we ended up being more comfortable than expected. Car parking was an issue but we learnt through local enquiries that free parking is available in the city on meters between 6pm and 8am (Check). Very nice modern clean hotel in a great location, free internet (although a bit slow) and free wireless internet in your room. Major down side was that it was easy to be disturbed by other guests noise - while you were in your room - I would think twice about staying there again due to the noise problem Other downside could be that the rooms were […] quiet small but if your only their to sleep its not much of a problem. The SNUG rooms are a fantastic value, but possibly better for single travellers than a couple as it is a small room and the bathroom is more just a glass partition. There also no windows in the room, so if fresh air is a must for you, don't pick this room. The decor is modern and the location is fantastic though!

We had a king size room, which was small but cozy for 2 people. The mood lighting was lots of fun, and the decor was cute and modern. We loved the free wifi!! Our complaints: the little shower/toilet attachment, while very cool in concept, doesn't provide privacy or ventilation. Also the window looked over an extremely noisy alleyway and drunk people […] yelling constantly on Sat. night kept us awake for hours. One last thing to note: the price does not include housekeeping service. All in all a great place to stay at a good price. Les mer

All you need in a hotel except space. But hey who goes on holiday or on a business trip to spend their time sitting in a hotel room! Good Location, good price and friendly staff.

felt like i was in japan. cool hotel, with some interesting & modern amenities. great value for the money and you will have a good time, if you are okay with sleeping in or sharing a small space with your travel companion. they have a sauna, but no pool & no spa. the hotel can't charge your card in u.s. $, which was typical for new zealand.

Excellent Hotel and very good rates. Will definately use again.

I really enjoyed my week's stay here. Only one criticism was the electronic swipe card would never work when I returned to my room so it meant a trip back down to reception to get the card validated or a new one issued. Lovely hotel in very central location. Close to restaurants, bars, attractions ect. Very stylish and modern rooms. Small rooms but very comfortable. Loved the options of different coloured lights in room to accommodate different moods eg: Blue to relax, red for passion. Good value for money.

Hotel So was a little disapointing. Yes we had expected that the room be a little tight, but boy we didn't realize that it was very compact and small. Considering that we paid a relatively cheap price for the room, and because we were only staying one night, it didn't worry us too much. But if you need room for more than two suitcases, you probably […] won't be able to fit it in. On top of that, I would say the worst part of the Hotel So experience was that our room smelt like urine. We had to close the bathroom section door to block off the smell. Reception claimed that the room had been cleaned, but it obviously still stank! That was the biggest disapointment. The only other disapointment was that we were on the 1st floor and we did not have a comfortable sleep due to the noise from passing cars and people who were out all night. We could hear the yelling, talking, screaming and bottle throwing from our room very clearly which left us cranky in the morning due to the lack of sleep! If u must stay here, ask for a room up on a high floor The pros- 1. free wifi throughout the hotel which is good for those needing to check their emails etc. 2.Modern and high tech design of the furniture in the rooms 3. Friendly staff to greet you and assist you 4. they don't have a shuttle bus specific to the hotel to take you to the airport but have a phone avail so you can organize one for anytime of the day or night for a cheap price. 5. Usually Cheap Hotels tend to be nasty-specially in Europe inner cities. This is how modernHotels should be . Stuffy,old fashion add ons have been cut out . Friendly,clean,efficient service. Any Hotel So any where else?
