The Westin Monache Resort - Mammoth Lakes

We were a family travelling and experienced great service at a great hotel. We were very, very pleased!

Flott hotell, nydelige rom, fantastiske turmuligheter 3 km fra hotellet. Måtte sove med øreplugger på grunn av kjøleskap og air conditon som bråket noe veldig.

This hotel was very nice-until you had to deal with the front desk staff. The staff was the worst and acted like you owed them something... this includes the concierge staff. It was bad enough that we just started asking the cleaning staff and restaurant staff what to see instead of having to deal with their bad attitudes---it looked like it stemmed […] all from the manager. BAD-not just a little bad-but BAD. They also charged 25 dollars a night Resort Charges. The pool was broken, the hot tub was drained, the gym was being remodeled, the ski season was over, so no ski storage. The nice thing was that if you wanted a ride to the airport, the front desk staff would give you a look while you asked for it. Out of the 5 hotels we stayed at on this trip, this one was by far the worst but ranked right up there as the most expensive. Les mer

I had a lovely stay here - the staff were very friendly and helpful, and the resort was beautiful. I loved the room - it was spacious. had a fully equipped kitchenette, and a fireplace (and a window seat, perfect for curling up on to read a book). The bed was amazingly comfortable too, I have never slept so well. The resort is just across the road from […] the ski lift, and if you are here to ski this would be a great location. Mammoth Lakes is a ski resort town, so it was pretty quiet when we were there recently during low season, but that didn't bother us. It's quite close to the Tioga Pass (route 120) which passes through the Yosemite National Park, but this was still closed during our stay, so we had to drive back to the east side to get into the Park. We had a scenic drive though, and it was great to have the resort to get back to and the end of the day. Lovely for a getaway. Les mer

We loved the location. Obviously, it's an expensive place but you definitely get what you pay for. It's the best restaurant in town too I think. Be careful what the concierge recommends. After eating at the Whitebark, she sent us to the Whiskey Creek restaurant and the food was inedible. She has a tongue ring so maybe not the best food connoisseur. […] However, she did recommend the Inter tube Park, the Dog Sledding, and the 2 hour Snowmobile ride so all of these were awesome. It's an easy walk across the street to Mammoth but don't rent your equipment there. There's a much bigger selection across the street and you don't have to wait for service. Internet is slow, Verizon service doesn't work but I hear Verizon is trying to fix that. Les mer

A very nice hotel but a bit pricey really. The rooms were well designed. The kitchenette was perfect. We were tired and were able to pick up a few groceries and cook dinner instead of going out. This would be great if you were in the area for a few days skiing or hiking.

It was a beautiful hotel in a very nice location. The housekeeping staff did an excellent job. We went during off season so the hotel was virtually empty; however our room was the last room down a very long empty hallway. I also had requested, and paid for a room with a view, which we did not receive. The resort fee is outrageous!

This hotel in mammoth was a great place to stay. The staff was professional and informative. They recommended a hike to crystal springs - it was a fantastic hike, with gorgeous views! The hotel design was beautiful - esp the entrance way. The pool and hot tub were clean and accessible. Location was perfect for biking or hiking in mammoth during the […] summertime. Our stay at the Westin was a wonderful surprise. Had never been to the area and only planned on this being a stop-over on our way home. Our only complaint is that we wasted time sightseeing in LA when we should have spent more time here! It is high end, but is not snobbish. The staff were very friendly, helpful, and very prompt when we had a request. […] We absolutely loved this place, and Mammoth Lakes is a must see even in summer. The hotel is great, clean and very comfortable. This could be an amazing place but the service personnel seemed to be quite demotivated and slow compared to other 4 and 5 star places we stayed at in California.

Very pleasant surprise to find the hotel so well done in all ways. The staff – all of them – were exceptionally friendly throughout our stay. The food was excellent and quite innovative. The room was wonderfully appointed and laid out. We spend a lot of time in Japan and were very pleased to find the overall aesthetic of this hotel was clean and simple, […] with lots of wood, stone, subtle modern lighting, and tasteful decor. Awesome. This place is clearly popular with families, those with dogs (being cat people, we thought this might be unenjoyable, but they were unobtrusive and ended up adding to the experience), and people from all over the world. Lots of visiting foreigners, which was nice. This hotel benefits from its across-the-street proximity to The Village, with its restaurants, stores, and events. We'll be back! Les mer

We had a wonderful time during our stay. We used the pool every day.We loved the mini kitchen. We made breakfast each morning. We also liked that the hotel was close to town and to the mountain.

This was a great stay, probably the best on our 3 week road trip The hotel seemed to have a lot of dogs staying, which we were less pleased with. Breakfast was good, and happy hour goood value. Excellent situation Rooms were clean and comfortable, and amenities good throughout

The stay was quite nice, room was very good, good hotel location, great view from upper floors. A few nits: 1) loose the mandatory $25 day resort fee or add it to the room rate. The fee covers items that should be included in the base rate - kinda silly. 2) Bathroom was nice but not very functional. For the price of this room, I would think they should offer complimentary coffee in the morning. The menu in hotel was okay but not superb. When I think of spa, I think of a massage room.

Stayed here for one night in May 2012 on the way from San Fran to Vegas. It was out of season so the hotel & town were very quiet, but the hotel staff were extremely welcoming, the suite was spacious, comfy and clean and the continental breakfast that we got with our booking was decent enough too. Would definitely recommend it and would happily stay […] again if we come back, especially during the ski season - though maybe not on the side that has the ski lift right outside the windows. Being used to the Westin type service and quality I was not disappointed. From the bellman, valet, to the lady in the front desk, made my stay and in-n-out instances very pleasant. The condo itself (I had a two bedroom condo) was impeccable and very comfortable. I had the opportunity to go to the pool area, note the jacuzzi that's closer to the door […] doesn't have good working jets, gotta go to the one far back to have a relaxing end-of-day experience. As far as the service at the restaurant (had only breakfast a couple of times), I had good service one day, not the next. I can't rate the overall experience based on that since everyone else made me feel like a VIP. I've stayed in almost every other resort/hotel and this is definitely the best by far. Les mer

Had a wonderful time for a last minute trip to Mammoth during the spring break with family. Staff and the level of service was very good. Had dinner at the restaurant once, which had both very good food and level of service. The hotel was very clean and organized, especially as a pet-friendly hotel. As a visitor with no pet of thier own and a bit clean […] freak, the thought of a pet staying in our room was always on the back of our mind but we never noticed any dog/cat hair or any unpleasnt odor. A a matter of fact, the hotel smelled very clean and fresh top to bottom. The room refrigerator kept running non-stop. We were bothered slightly by the constant humming sound of it and concerened that it will burn out. The front desk offered to send someone to look into it but they didn't seem to be concerned about the unit burning. It was a neglible issue. Les mer

From the description of the bed, it sounded cushy but ended up stiff as a board. The couch in the room felt like it was upholstered in fine steel wool. For some reason, only the slim overnight menu was available during the middle of the day. I decided to order a turkey sandwich but I guess they don't believe sandwiches need bread to considered a sandwich […] because I only got the fillings. This hotel facility was great. We had a deluxe suite with a soft comfy bed and an almost complete kitchen (which I didn't know about beforehand). The hotel bar and restaurant had great comfort food selections and attentive servers. I would definitely recommend this hotel to others.

Having stayed at a few Westin hotels on previous visits to the US, I booked a room at the Westin Monache for a bit of luxury during a road trip between San Fran and Vegas. As usual the service was excellent and the room spacious, luxurious and very comfortable. I was upgraded from a Queen room to a Suite complete with fireplace, kitchenette, lounge […] and mountain view. The bed is to die for; like sleeping on a cloud, and the crisp sheets are simply devine. The soft, fluffy towels and bathrobes are perfect. Room service breakfast was delicious. I'm heading back to Mammoth after Christmas with my family and will definitely be staying at the Westin again. I wish Westin would open a hotel in Yosemite! Les mer

Flawless hotel experience, but with all the hotels in the area I'll probably select another on the next visit to avoid the $108.00 resort fee.

We have stayed here twice. Once in the summer, and once in the fall. Both times, the service was very, very good, with a single exception, the first time. We had a drink in the bar, and sat on the side. Getting a server to come by for anything, including collecting money was nearly impossible. Other than that, every single thing about this hotel has […] been spectacular. If you are there in the non-freezing time, spend the extra money for a 1 bedroom with a balcony. The balcony is small, but it is very nice to sit, have a glass of wine, and enjoy your partner and the mountains. Highly recommended. Les mer

What an amazing hotel. Beautiful room, wonderful service, fabulous neighborhood. I can't wait to come back to Mammoth Lakes, and I don't even ski! I stayed here for my 5th anniversary mini vacation and we stopped off at Bodi on the way there and of course through Yosemite on the way back. Definitely recommend this hotel as a mini paradise mountain break […] away from San Francisco! Also, they allow pets. However, if you don't bring a pet carrier, you won't be permitted to leave your pet alone in the room. Les mer

We stayed two nights in September 2011. Our actual destination was nearby Devil's Post Pile National Monument for a day of hiking to the monument and Rainbow Falls. Both were worth the long hikes. Was a typical Westin with great beds and service. The restaurant was also very good. Their Happy Hour menu was delicious and enough for a meal. Would definitely stay at this hotel again.

had a 2 bedroomed suite- plenty of room. Used the Vons supermarket to stock up on supplies. A quick trip down the stairs outside the hotel and over the road for places to eat for lunch. Guest laundry on site to do your washing. Staff were helpful and friendly.
