Villager Motel - Morro Bay

We had a very nice time staying here while visiting with family... the hotel staff were friendly and were very accommodating. For the price that you pay, it is not too bad. The only negative was the shower; the water heating was annoying as it would go back and forth between really cold and really hot. Getting it to be lukewarm was a challenge. But other than that, the stay was pretty decent for the price that you pay. The breakfast is good; just cereal, danish, toast, coffee, […] and OJ but it was fine for us. I would recommend this hotel for an inexpensive overnight stay, which is what we wanted. Les mer

The only good thing about the Villager Motel is the price. The front desk clerk was not very polite. The thermostat in the room did not have any numbers/degrees on it and it was very difficult to regulate the room temp. T he water in the sink, shower and toilet was BROWN. We had to buy drinking water to make coffee and use to wash up with. I telephoned […] the front desk several time to obtain information on how to connect to the 'free' WiFi in the room. No one ever answered the phone. I am not happy at all with this motel. We was looking forward to utilizing the Spa. Well, it was broke, out of service. I should of went ahead and reserved a more expensive room at at different motel. Les mer

Motel is old and run down. Room smelled strongly of disinfectant. Would have called Expedia to see if I could have cancelled reservation and got money back but was too tired from travel.

The room was clean, and the people were nice, but the place is a bit run down and short on charm. Our room was non-smoking, but it smelled like it had been a smoking rooms some time in the past. Location is terrific. All in all, a fine experience for a cheap motel.

Coming from Australia with my family, we stayed one night and loved Monterey and the hotel so much we stayed another day and a half. The rooms were great! Clean, well appointed, luxurious whilst affordable and the service was tops... The indoor pool put this hotel miles above the surrounding choices.

The room was worn-down, and it felt as if the carpet could use some cleaning. The beds were hard, and the pillows a joke. The walls between the rooms were very thin, it was only thanks to earplugs that I managed to get to sleep without being disturbed by the neighbors cuddling and love making... When checking in, the staff was if not unpleasant, at […] least not interested. We got no extra information, just the keys in our hand. Had to ask for wifi password. The connection was very weak inside the room, so had to be outside closer to the reception to be able to use it. Didn't get any information about breakfast either, but reading the other reviews we probably didn't miss anything. Instead we went to a breakfast restaurant further down the street. That would be the only good thing about the hotel - it's convenient location. Easy to find when coming from Hwy 1, and just a short walk down to the wharf. However, there are other hotels on the same street and I would recommend trying one of those instead. Les mer

Staff was very friendly. The hotel is old, hot tub was out of service and basically in a room that used to be part of the small lobby, the beds and pillows were stained and hard as a rock, the shower was not easy to adjust. The TV remote was broken and when I asked for a new one I was told to just use the down arrow, which meant I had to scroll thorugh […] 99 channels to get to programming. Older motel-the hot tub was shut down six months ago, but not updated on website. Heating unit must be turned on from office--radiant heat in ceiling. Seemed pricey for what they offered.

Great service and information. Friendly staff and knowledgeable about area. Noise seems to transmit easily from room to room, but was tolereable. Thank you for the stay.

The Villager was a last minute escape from the rain in our campsite. We didn't expect much and were not disappointed. The room was very clean - just very outdated and some items in room needed replacing due to wearing out. Shower stall was smaller than phone booth and "complimentary continental breakfast" was Tang for orange juice and packaged danishes. […] Also, with only 8 or so rooms of the 16+ occupied, they put someone right above us with an extremely active child - he ran back & forth in the room all evening and all the next morning! nice hotel. but calling 4 cakes in plastic wrapping on a plate + coffe and juice as breakfast is not true. be prepared to find something else

After reading the reviews we were concerned but it was a huge festival weekend and most of the prices were sky high. this was the least expensive non motel 6 available in the between Paso Robles and Buelton. It was older but clean with comfortable beds. The hot tub was still OOC
