Great location and the private entrance to Legoland was fantastic. Close to town and beach. Room was very large and clean. Pool was pretty chilly even though the hotel staff stated it was heated. Quality of service and friendliness of hotel staff were very good. We would definately stay again.

There is no better hotel for legoland. The food is pretty decent too. Additionally, there are fresh strawberries available when in season at the strawberry farm a minute away. Heated Pool could have been a little higher in temp when we were there though.

We arrived at the hotel at about 1pm. We checked-in and headed out to lunch, assured that our room would be ready when we returned. We returned about 3pm, and waited, and waited and waited. The front desk opened the flood gates exactly at 4pm (we weren't the only ones waiting for a room). It just felt as though they were waiting to give us our keys […] on matter of principal. I can't imagine that a room wasn't available sooner. The folks at the front desk were great, as was everyone else we encountered. The staff was very professional, friendly and extremely helpful. The only nit was that I would have expected to be given a room much sooner; especially being a long-term SPG member. We'll stay again, and suggest this property to our friends. They just need to work on being a little more accommodating when it comes to "early" check-in. Les mer

The hotel is just a few minutes walk to Lego Land by a nice path. The hotel sold us our tickets and saved us time when we were in line to enter the park. The staff was very friendly and the dining excellent.

The place was beautiful, relaxing...the location seems exclusive, almost as if though I was some kind of star resort away from everything. Loved my stay and would definitely go back again.

We booked a room at this hotel as a getaway while visiting family in the Carlsbad area. Our room was not ready on time. After waiting over an hour, we arrived at our room to find a dirty room service tray sitting in the hallway just outside our door. The pool area was under construction and the hot tub was empty. The Spa was wonderful and the poolside lunch was delicious! I've been to other Spa's in Las Vegas and this one was hold it's own compared to them.

Living outside San Diego and being a Starwood owner, for many years I've taken my son to this hotel for an overnight stay between two days at Legoland. We have a Volvo and can park in front in Legoland, so there is no advantage for us to stay in this hotel and we will not be returning without some major changes. It's definitely gone downhill. Here's […] why: 1) The "Ocean View" upgrade room had no view. It was completely blocked by queen palm fronds. 2) The third floor to which we were upgraded smelled worse than a locker room. Just before departure I happened to run into a housekeeper and mentioned it and she said, "it's OK, NO?" 3) We had to beg for our traditional Starwood owner upgrades. 4) The check in clerk advised me an event would be going on outside our room between 8-9am. When we checked out after 10:30am there was still no event happening. She also argued with me when I advised her that 8am would be late for us since the 10year old boys would be up by 5:45am (OK, they woke me at 5:52am that day:-) 5) Despite being an elite Starwood owner, we were denied late check out. 6) The voicemail to pick up messages did not work on either of two lines on the room phone. 7) When trying to call the front desk from the room, nobody answered the phone. I had to contact the front desk on my cell phone. The front desk clerk was unaware that the phones in the rooms advised one to call "8+0+0" to get the front desk. 8) When trying to leave, even though the event that day did not start for hours, the hotel manager allowed the event people to set up barricades and we were unable to leave the parking lot without moving cones. We were directed to leave the hotel property (in the opposite direction of Legoland even though NO GUESTS for the event had arrived yet), and had to argue just to get back to the lobby to check out! FYI--The VALET and RESTAURANT staff were AWESOME and the food more than worth every penny. I recommend staying elsewhere and for a nice meal, staying here. It's Les mer

The Sheraton is a beautiful hotel in a great location in Carlsbad. It is just across the street from Legoland, and close to Premium Outlets. The rooms were very nice and clean however I expected them to be bigger since the property is so big. The only complaint I have is the parking fee on top of the resort fee. It seems unfair since really there is […] no where else to park and you still have to walk a bit to the rooms. Overall, it is beautiful hotel and the service is great. Les mer

I would definitely recommend this Hotel for anyone. It is very high quality and has a very upscale feel. My wife used the spa for a massage and was impressed. However, you are not able to schedule spa treatments if the spa was closed. In other words, if the spa wasn't open, you could not make a spa appointment until it opened the next day. Very inconvenient […] for late arrivals. Also, there is a lot of competition in the area for restaurants and bars. As such, I would have liked to see Hotel guests get a little bit of a break on their bar tab and/or dinner tab at the 20-20 Bar and Grill. Overall, it was a very nice evening and a recommended destination. Les mer

Beautiful hotel & accomodating staff. We were there to attend a wedding Sept.2nd @ 5PM. I asked for an early check in & got it w/out difficulty. Restaurant in hotel was excellent, both breakfast & lunch. Only complaint is the large amount of children running through the halls & on the floor above in early am. This hotel was gorgeous,clean,great location 5minute walk to Legoland. We felt very safe there with our two children 4yr old and 5month old. We will stay here again and again. The pool is very nice, food is great and is very child friendly. The grounds are beautiful to walk around on, and they have lots of activities for everyone.

We stayed because the hotel was a "known" and was very close to Legoland. Also, the hotel is noted as having its own separate entrance to the park. The hotel WAS clean, and WAS a great property, does seem to be a great choice for corporate travel, but WAS NOT really a family friendly choice. And although they do have a "separate entrance to the park" […] it is a long walk and does not open as early as the main park entrance, so that was not additive. This place is great going to Legoland since they have special entrance for the hotel. The location is nice and quiet except the occasional aircraft from the airport which is about 3 miles away. The pool is nice and large with a fair amount of lounge chairs and jacuzzi is has plenty of jets. All rooms have a nice view but the upper floors have better […] views. The beds are comfortable and clean. The hotel is about 25 miles from central San Diego so you need a sort of a drive to go to San Diego Zoo, Sea World and other attractions in San Diego. Les mer

Needs earlier check in times, otherwise a great experience!

We stayed at this hotel while visiting Legoland San Diego with our two boys 5 and 7 and we had THE BEST time. The hotel is absolutely outstanding. It is beautifully situated, lush tropical setting, beautiful pool area, everything is top standard from rooms to the delicious food at the Twenty grill where we had everything from breakfast, lunch and dinner. […] We like to stay an extra night just to take advantage of the beautiful and peaceful setting of the hotel and relax at the pool. I can highly recommend it especially if you are going to Legoland as it has convenient private entrace to the park. Amazing experience all around for the whole family! Les mer

Wonderful hotel, very family friendly, very clean, great staff. I love that the gym and pool area are open 24 hours. All hotels should do this. I also loved the private entrance into lego land. We will absolutley be staying here again.

The hotel and grounds were very clean and well maintained and there's a beautiful pool area with games for the kids to play. The pool is heated but still COLD. Unless you plan on eating all meals at the hotel in their one restaurant or ordering room service or food by the pool (all pricey for families with kids), you are going to have to drive to get […] food. We prefer to park the car for the duration of the stay and walk to restaurants, etc. You cannot do that at this hotel. The only good thing about the location is the short walk to legoland's private back entrance where you can purchase your tickets and enter at the back of the park. Be aware that while Legoland claims to stay open until 8 p.m. during the summer, all food services were wrapping things up at 6:30 p.m., so eat early or you will find yourself loading the kids into the car after a long day at legoland to go in search of dinner. Carlsbad is a pretty area, but unless we were going back to Legoland (which we won't be- boring!), we would choose to stay near the beach. Les mer

Staying at this hotel provided us access quick Legoland. Also, staying at the club level was well worth the extra money. Breakfast in the mornings and access to the lounge was great when not everyone in the room was up. The only draw back that we experienced some June Gloom. Was a very nice place, but only if you bring children. Noise from children all the time. Was not able to use jacuzzi without children in it evern as late as midnight. Aduld only hours would be nice.

They have a wonderful staff, who are super helpful and friendly. The pool and spa are beautiful - everything is clean and tidy - truly felt like a wonderful retreat. Enjoyed it immensely. Loved the private entrance to Legoland (although I must say, we would have enjoyed staying by the pool just as much as heading to the theme park, as it was a bit of […] a disappointment.) took to long to check in. The alarm on the clcok we off @ 6am and the Tv alarm we off @ 7:30 AM, you should make be sure that all the alrms are off, The resort fee was un call for, all we need was sleep there.

The private entrance is worth the resort fee alone! It saves you parking at Legoland and is a short walk to & from the hotel.

While the hotel is lovely and the room was adequate, I was upset on our last day when I called the front desk to ask for a slightly later check-out time. My request wasn't based on wanting to lounge around or not being packed or anything like that. My request was based on a 3-year old child who was vomiting and whom I did not want to put into a car […] until I felt he had calmed down. I was given a very curt, "We aren't extending any check-out times." That's it - end of conversation. I was furious! On top of that, upon reviewing my bill closer, I noticed charges for pool service (which I never had) and another charge I hadn't made; it turns out that the charges were made by my aunt, who had the room next to mine. Consequently, she had charges on her bill that should have been on my room! Everything worked out OK in the end, but it took a number of days for the hotel to get their act together and correct the erroneous charges. I am very disappointed that a Sheraton hotel would have such disregard for their customers. I would seriously consider ever staying there again. Les mer

If you're not going to Legoland, I can't imagine why you'd stay here. That said, if you ARE going to Legoland, this place is perfect! Rooms are spacious and comfortable and QUIET. Not sure I've ever stayed in a hotel room so well sound-proofed! Rates are reasonable, especially considering the quality of the rooms. Pool is heated 24hrs a day, so even […] on a 62 degree day, the kids were able to go for a swim. In addition, there are showers and bathrooms immediately adjacent to the pool and as many pool towels as you need, ready and waiting. Legoland is right next door. The hotel has a private path that will take you right there, but it's not as close as you think. Don't try to walk it with small kids unless you've got strollers. My one complaint would be the quality of the food. The restaurant is bad, despite it's appealing menu, and room service is worse. The breakfast sausage was inedible, the scrambled eggs were rubbery and the french fries had been covered in Saran Wrap, so they were mushy. Pack a box of cereal and some milk! Overall, this is a great choice for Legoland, just don't expect much from the food or the location. Les mer

I had a room on the second floor of the hotel and had to call security NUMEROUS times though the night due to VERY obnoxious people in the room next door. The hallways were filled with people at all hours of the night and you can hear EVERYTHING in your room!!! If you are looking for a good night sleep, do not stay here!!!

We noticed that the sheets were extremely wrinkled. Looked like they were used already. The pool service was very bad and very slow. Only one waiter for the entire pool area. The breakfast service was a little slow too and not too attentive. Other than that our experience was good.

The property and rooms are very nice but the service is TERRIBLE!! The staff has an attitude and do not seem interested in making your stay a positive experience. We were there for a wedding and they were rude to the bride, the rooms were not ready and they failed to pass out the welcome bags to guests upon check-in.

Ideal hotel for families. While it might not be a perfect fit for those without kids, for those with, it's an oasis. The staff and facility are so welcoming to little ones. Can't say enough great things about it.

I've stayed here a few times, and have always enjoyed myself. This time however, not so much. Arrived at 3pm, and was told no rooms were clean, and to return at 4pm. I came back at 4:30, still no rooms. Came back just before 5pm, and was escorted to room 1146, only to find out once we got there that the room wasn't even close to being cleaned. Waited […] 15 min for them to find us another room. Alejandro then escorted us to 2204, and had to wait while he ran back to get a key (another 10 min.). The end result was a handicap room that we finally got to around 5:45pm. I do want to point out that Alejandro did a great job trying to accomodate us. Needless to say I was very disappointed, mainly because I have much higher expectations based on previous visits. Les mer

My husband and I stayed here for our anniversary and loved the hotel. It is beautiful and the rooms are brand-new. The restaurant and bar is delicious, but expensive. My only real complaint is the fees. There's a parking fee and a resort fee for use of the pool, jacuzzi and tennis courts, even if you don't use them.

everything was wonderful BUT we had no tv for 3 days and 2 nights of our stay of our 3 night stay. several repair service men came to "fix" it. we wasted part of our vacation just trying to get the tv working. finally the 3rd night they brought in a new big tv and we finally were able to watch a movie. but it took us nagging the hotel staff to no end. […] the good part is, they came thru and fixed the problem in the end. our kids were going crazy cooped up in a room with no cartoons or anything though. only a 2 min walk to legoland! super awesome. we are coming back for sure. I thought the staff was excellent for the most part, Loved that they offered a shuttle service to downtown Carlsbad. Think that charging for self parking is ridiculous given the need for a car and the fact that they have empty parking lots. Particularly silly given that you can park all over the greater San Diego area without having to pay for parking. Thought […] that the service in their restaurant was sub-par and so was the food. Pros - A great hotel with great facilities including restaurants and food. We dined there on two nights and enjoyed the experience and ambiance which included a great jazz band. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were spacious and clean and the bed was very comfortable. Cons - A little far out of San Diego (rental car is a must) with […] limited public transport. This is particularly relevant if you are visiting the area as a tourist. I would also prefer everything to be included in the tariff rather than investigate all the added costs at check out. Other than that, a pretty good operation Les mer

The hotel was much nicer than I had expected, our room felt like an oasis after a long day hiking around Legoland. The staff wasn't overly friendly, but that didn't bother me; we didn't go to Carlsbad to make friends with the hotel staff. The restaurant was very good, room service was good. One of our breakfasts was small (the french toast) and the […] other was huge. It was supposed to be two scrambled eggs, but it looked to be three or four eggs. The pool and hot tub were very nice, the grounds nice also. I'm not sure why others complained about the noise inside their room, I honestly can't remember hearing anything from outside our room except the shower from (I assume) the room above ours. The "resort fee" and parking fee were both disappointing, but I still feel like we got at least as much as we paid for. All in all, I was very pleased and would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Legoland. Les mer

The facilities were beautiful and clean. We love the ocean view. The resort and spa is centrally located near fine dining and ther is plenty to do in the area. The Chef - Damian made the best breakfast ever. The server staff was also fantastic. Give a big thanks to the Security Guard that provided access to our room after a long night of family fun. […] We are looking forward to our next visit. Les mer
