Prisgunstig med flott utstyrt og stor suite. Minus for oppussing, men det får en tåle.

Hotellet ligger fint til ved Dupont circle med tilgang til metro med avstand ca 100m. Bra. Hotellet er gammelt og bærer preg av det. Kan gjerne kalles en falmet storhet. Rommene er ganske små, og utsikten fra en rekke rom, inkl. vårt, er rett inn i en murvegg med avstand på 3-4 m. Det er ikke morsomt. Vi forsøkte å bytte rom, men det var ikke mulig å få gjennomført.Kunne evt fått rom i 8.etg men med nesten samme utsikt. Resepsjonen er meget liten og med bare 2 stoler hvor man kunne benytte gratis WIFI i inntil 1 time. Det er for dårlig. Ellers betal- WIFI i fellesområder inkl. bar. Baren var hyggelig i yacht-club stil, men ganske så slitt og ikke helt rene puter heller. Vi spiste frukost en morgen, men den var langt unna vår norske standard. Tung mat i svært dyr buffet, pølser og eggerøre. Meny svært sparsommelig og ikke egnet for norske ganer. Meget dyrt, men med gode frukostmuligheter i nærmiljøet, Le Pain Quotidien like rundt hjørnet foretrekkes. Trivelig betjening. Vi bestilte rom for 3 personer, men dette var alldeles for trangt. Kofferter måtte legges på gulvet, mellom sengene. Hotellet bør ikke leie ut så små rom for 3 personer, men heller overlate dette til mer moderne hotell i nærheten med større rom og bedre faciliteter. Vi var innom andre hoteller i nærheten som hadde mye bedre tilbud, men kunne ikke bytte pga forhåndsbetaling. Vi kommer nok til å bo på et moderne hotell neste gang. Hotellet passer for et eldre ektepar uten barn, og som trives best i gammel stil.
Beliggenhet.
Donovan House ligger i Washington, i nærheten av National Geographic Society, Det hvite hus og Ford's Theater. Ikke langt unna finner du også Washington-monumentet og Lincoln-minnesmerket.
Hotellfasiliteter.
Donovan House har utendørsbasseng og treningsstudio. Trådløs Internett-tilgang er tilgjengelig på fellesområdene (tilleggsavgifter tilkommer). Det er forretningssenter på stedet. Hotellet har en god beliggenhet. Nabolaget er lite sjarmerende og preget av andre store hoteller, kontorhus og brede gater, men hotellet er i gåavstand til det hvite huset og museene. Hotellet serverer ikke frokost, men Starbucks finnes i nærheten. Hotellet er tilknyttet til en asiatisk inspirert restaurant som ble omtalt som Washingtons beste sushi […] restaurant. Rommet var stort og moderne, service var god - det eneste som trekker ned er at tilkobling til internett koster 11 dollar for 24 timer tilgang for en meget treg forbindelse. Pool på takterrasse ble brukt til festingen fra klokken 17:00. Hotellets gjester få fritt tilgang til terrassen og pool parties. Hotellet er en skikkelig party hotell. på både, fredag, lørdag og mandag kveld var det festing på takterrasse. Det anbefales å ikke booke et rom i toppetasjen siden det kan være litt høylyd dersom du ikke ønsker å hoste nachspillet på rommet. Hotellet kan anbefales! Skal du ha en mer sjarmerende location litt lengre unna, sjekk ut Georgetown med masse sma butikker og restauranter. Les mer

Fire dagers opphold med høy standard på alt, fra service, til rom og ikke minst pool og bar på taket. Passer fint en varm sommer dag i juli. Ligger sentralt til. Taxi til Georgetown ca 7 doller om man ikke vil gå. Dobbeldekker siteseeing bussen kan anbefalles. Tar dere rundt på alt i løpet av 2,5 time. Savnet kun en god amerikansk frokost, vi spiste […] andre steder. Bor gjerne her igjen ved neste DC besøk. Leiebil trenger du ikke om du kun skal være i DC området. Les mer

"Worst experience EVER."
I was seriously disappointed with this hotel. For the price I paid I didn't even get half of what I expected. Getting there was ridiculously stupid, parking was out the roof expensive for ONE night, and the front desk staff was flat out rude. For the price I paid for that room I got a tinier room than what I get at a Days Inn for more than half the […] price and my view was of the AC system. To try and get you to understand the size of this room, I could put my back to the end of the bed and touch the wall with my feet. The bed was REALLY firm and maybe stood two feet tall. The sink in the bathroom was clogged, and the floor looked like it hadn't been cleaned in days. To watch TV, you had to pay for ANYTHING you wanted to watch and there is no wifi so there goes any sort of entertainment. When I was getting ready to leave, the valet told me to call down 15 minutes prior to checking out, and so when I was getting ready to leave my room I called three separate times to the extension they gave me with no answer, then called the front desk and got hung up on, and when I went down to the valet office myself the workers were just sitting in there lounging. I was never asked about if I enjoyed my stay or any sort of customer service questions that should have been asked. I felt like I was just a bill and not a paying customer. If you have money that you can just throw away without thinking about it, sure, go to this hotel, but if you're looking for an enjoyable time at a hotel that makes you feel welcome I'd suggest any other hotel. I will NEVER be coming back here again. Les mer

I had been staying at the Hyatt Regency for my birthday weekend, when i decided to extend for Sunday night, the rate was pricey. I booked a hotel on internet that was comparably priced to the xxxxx first night stay. When I got to the next hotel " the xxxxxxxxx it was a whole in the wall. The bathroom window was borded up with wood, the room was the […] size of a walk-in closet. I was so upset, I immediately left the Hotel and located yet another. The Donnovan House was my saving grace. This hotel was beutiful, the decor was very modern. The rooms had all the ammenities and the view said relax. I am forever grateful to the staff from the bellman up to the front desk. Les mer

The hotel itself and the staff are great. Double rooms were over booked so they gave us a suite for no extra charge. Staff were always polite, smiling, helpful and efficient. "Comfortable beds after a LONG walk"
My husband and I stayed at the Donovan House for one night to see the sights in D.C. Parking was an issue right off the bat, be for warned...the garage that is meant for hotel guests wants to charge $42 to park your car for 1 night alone. There are other garages in the area but make sure you pay attention to their hours because some are closed or open […] at strange times on the weekend. The hotel staff were very friendly and provided great customer service. They even provide a list of restaurants within a few blocks that they recommend. As far as going to see the museums and such; yes it is a straight shot to the mall...but bring those tennis shoes and be prepared to walk! It's about a mile (if not a mile and a quarter) from the hotel to Constitution Ave. We weren't complaining about the exercise, it just gets a little tiring. The location however is great, it didn't take us long to get in or out of the city. Oh, and for the occasional "whoops! I forgot to bring this!" moments, there's a 24hr CVS across the street. Les mer

This hotel offersgracious and great service, is a nice walk to the Metro, and is a wonderful place to come back to at the end of a day of working and walking. Many things delight the eye--from the flame outside the front door (you can see it a block away at night, so you know you're nearly there as you approach the hotel) to the nautilus-shaped shower […] stall. This is a comfortable, welcoming place for the smart set, whether you're on the hip side of "smart," or on the intelligent side of "smart." It shows what seems to be a continuous loop of "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington" (yes! James Stewart), in beautiful black-and-white on one of the lobby walls. The only minuses: the sink drain was sluggish and the weak water pressure required a longer time in the shower. The restaurant offers an excellent variety of drinks and Asian fusion food. Get the Shanghai Mojito on the first night of your stay; it will set you up for an excellent visit to the District. Les mer

Very close to the Metro and much cheaper to use it from Reagan - convenient to use - great restaurant with best hot and sour soup I have ever had! Inexpensive restaurants within walking distance

"Great Boutique Hotel at Reasonable Price"
We spent the weekend in DC for the Army Navy football game. The Donovan was great...the staff was super friendly and helpful. The room was spotless. The decor is modern with a circular shower, huge windows and comfortable, cool furniture.

"Affordable urban hotel"
Staff was very nice but I agree with previous reviews about the shower water pressure being a bit light. Small rooms but not a problem since you hardly need to spend much time in them. Beds were comfortable, room amenities were fine. Couple of strange spots on the floor and handmarks on the leather "cocoon" bed frame which left a bit to the imagination, […] but it's a hotel, so you have to expect many previous people were once there. For the price I have really little negative to say. If it were a five star hotel and a price tag to boot, then it would be a bit different, but for the location and obvious upgrade, I would recommend it. Les mer

While visiting D.C. I had the opportunity to stay at Donovan House a Thompson Hotel. I cannot say enough great things about my stay. The staff were more than curtious, helpful and provided a level of service that I would say is unlike any other. The hotel had a modern feel with "old world" service. Anything that I needed was promptly provided and without […] question. The location was perfect situated at Thomas Circle it was in walking distance to all attractions with front desk provided me with maps and directions to where I was going when departing in the mornings. There is a 24hr CVS across the street which I found to be very handy. Once again I cannot say enough great things about Donovan House and have been telling anyone who will listen since returning home. Very Impressed. If I am ever to stay in D.C. again I just hope Hotels.com will still be offering a deal through there website for this Hotel! Truly made my trip top notch... Les mer

My best friend and I stayed here because of it's location - and the awesome roof top bar in the summer. It was nice, but not great. The beds were hard and everything was small. The ceilings were low, the furniture was short... it was a bit strange. But it was clean and nice. It's a very euro hotel.

The Donovan House was convenient to the metro and to the bus. The interior design was modern, clean and charming. I have never seen anything like it and I loved it. The room had a cool shower and the bed had a marvelous canopy. The staff could not have been nicer and more of a help regardless of what we wanted to do. I'll start off by saying the staff was very nice. Now.. The valet parking was pretty high even for DC. The bathroom in the studio king had no fan. The shower was cool, but less than I expected. I have a thing for modern bathrooms. I like them when they're high tech and fancy. I thought that that's how this bathroom would be. If you leave the door to […] the bathroom open you get cold because there's no door on the shower, its a spiral. And they shower head is pretty small so it doesn't cover you completely. If you close the bathroom door it gets hot in there, fast. And it takes a very long time for mirrors to defog, even if you open the door. There are other mirrors in the hotel room you could use to do your makeup but the lighting is very poor if you don't open the curtains, but that doesn't do you any good if It's dark out. The sink in the bathroom is massive and cool but leaves you little to no counter space. The bed was ok, a little hard for my taste. And if you're a light sleeper like me, the constant noise of traffic and honking will keep you up. I didn't sleep well. The mini bar was astronomically priced, which is the case with all hotel mini bars but they were also charging for the coffee, which is free in most hotels. I won't be staying there again, I'll probably choose the mariott down the street next time. No wonder I got a half off deal from hotels.com. Les mer

"Donavan House"
My stay was GREAT!!! They upgraded my room without my request. The room was a good size with a excellent view of the city. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Overall I would stay again at the Donavan House and recommend it to EVERYONE.
Very nice hotel, centrally located with lots of cafes and convenient stores nearby. However, the hotel is not suitable for people travelling with small children as the hotel rooms does not have bath tubs and the showers are overhead showers with no faucet or hand-held shower with hose. This makes rather difficult to bath children.

Loved the hotel upgraded with comp breakfast at check in for my fiancee. The front desk guy was the best will come back again and again. Oh yeah the views from our tenth florr suite was AWESOME !!!!!
Asked front desk for more coffee packets which they forgot to do. Carpet in rooms needed to be shampooed or replaced. Running a vacuum in the corridors at 7:30 AM is not polite. Three Strikes.

We booked the Donovan House because the price was right and ratings were not bad. The hotel lobby is very nice and at first glance so are the rooms. However, when the lights are on, it becomes clear that cleanliness is not high on their priority list. There was vomit on the floor in the first room we were given and while the hotel was gracious in providing […] us another room (with an upgrade), the upgraded room smelled like frat boys and was also questionable. If price is the main factor for you, Donovan House might be the right choice. However, if cleanliness is also important, you may want to consider spending a few extra dollars for another hotel option. While we still managed to enjoy our stay, we will not be back to the Donovan House. Les mer
"trendy couple"
This hotel was located in downtown dc...two blocks away from the metro. Great night life. Across the street from a 24 hour cvs. Decor was very trendy, lobby was welcoming, with a lounge feel. Buffet style breakfast at attached restaurant was 4 to 5 star quality. Will surely reserve again!

The lobby wasn't as grand as shown on the website, and it would've been nice to have a drink at the pool bar with the addition of some heat lamps considering the 'ADC' part was one of the main things advertized, but in all, it was a great hotel to stay at. Our room was clean, well presented, and quite spacious. We will definitely stay here again during […] our next visit to DC. Les mer

Hotel is very trendy, reminiscent of the W-Hotel chain. Clean & contemporary atmosphere. Walking distance from bars/clubs/restaurants. Only negative was the shower water pressure. Rain shower head which are nice but water was more of a sprinkle than a "shower". Other than that very nice.

had a two night stay and had a wonderful stay. Had one problem... the the hotel restaurant menu was not correct and was told an hour and a half after i placed the food order that cheeseburgers were not available on Sunday. After talking with restaurant manger the cheeseburgers were delivered free of charge. Check in and out were convenience and easy. […] Parking my vehicle was outrageous ... $42 per day. I was not told of the costs for parking a realized the charge at check out... had i known the cost i would have parked somewhere else cheaper. Les mer
