Fairmont Heritage Place, Ghirardelli Square - San Francisco

The stay at this hotel was just brilliant! The location is just on top of Ghirardelli Square, which is I guarantee the world's best Ice Cream and Chocolate. The staff was extra-ordinarily helpful, rooms were quite nicely sophisticated and cozy. Literally, no complaints! You may think that this is half a mile away from all the happening places in the […] city, but the house car will get you anywhere that San Francisco is known for! Great property, great experience. Private balcony looking on to bay. Alcatraz directly off balcony, which also looked down onto Ghirardelli Square shopping area.

We decided to stay at the Fairmount based on all of the positive reviews. The 2 bedroom residence city view was beautiful! 2 1/2 baths a beautiful modern kitchen that seats 8. A dishwasher and washer and dryer are also included in the apartment. With all the amenities as would be expected in this hotel category. I have stayed in a lot of hots around the world, and this wod be one of the best. Had a 2 bedroom apartment that was fantastic. It is the only hotel I have ever stayed in that never asked for my room number, and always knew me by name. Very slick. We stayed in a two bedroom residence and the layout was very comfortable. The reason for giving 4 starts instead of 5 really isn't a reflection of the hotel, but the parents that let their herds of children run through the hallways yelling and jumping from staircases. It happened on more than one occasion during our stay. We also ordered a burger from […] room service and requested it cooked "medium" and it came well done. They also did not provide any condiments, not even ketchup for the french fries. We mentioned this at check out and they were kind enough to reverse the charges, but a bad meal is still a bad meal. We did not have time to send it back since we had an event to go to. The reason the staff received a 4 and not a 5 is because it took them 40 minutes and two phone calls to bring the "complimentary" bottles of water to the room after check in. Les mer

The very best place to stay in San Francisco! Absolutely beautiful, great views, great location close to Fisherman's Warf. Every morning they have the most wonderful continental breakfast. We will return many times.

The hotel was very nicely decorated. The staff was more than accommodating at all times! The suite we were given was very spacious, and the house keeping kept it immaculate at all times! The view of the city from our suite was exceptional. The house car was always available to take us anywhere within a 2 mile radius from the hotel. Our famiy of 4 (2 adults, children ages 10 &13) just spent 4 blissful days at the Fairmont. We had reserved a Bay View one bedroom suite but we upgraded to a 2 bedroom suite at check -in. I have seen that many reviewers comment on the hotel's willingness to upgrade, which is a testament to the hotel's committment to customer satisfaction. So many hotels, […] even 5 star chains, try to give away their worst rooms first and only move you to a better room when you complain. The Fairmont obviously has the reverse policy and will always try to give you the best room available. We stayed at the Fairmont for the last 4 days of a 2 week California vacation. We splurged on the room because we thought we'd need some relaxation after a week and a half of driving and living out of suitcases. It was expensive to be sure, but worth the splurge! The view, the staff, the massive room size, even a washer-dryer in the unit were all wonderful. Les mer

I have three children under age of 8 and the accommodations made it wonderful for kids to play in the room, and for us to enjoy a family meal at the end of a day in our room versus going out to eat. Staff were welcoming and pleasant.

We splashed out a bit coming to this hotel but it was well worth it. It is a top class place but not pretentious. The complimentary things such as use of house car, hire of extensive list of DVDs, cheese and wine 4-5pm, use of an I-pad and breakfast were great touches especially as the next place we went to charged extra for everything!

We had an enormous balcony overlooking the San Francisco Bay, which gave us the best seat in the house for viewing the fireworks on 4th of July. Suite had a fire place, which came in handy with the chilly temps. Best of all was the washer/dryer in the room!!! I can't say stress enough how luxurious that is when traveling with kids. Highly recommend this hotel - especially for a family vacation. Plenty of room - felt like a "home away from home!" I have stayed at many nice hotels in the past, but this is by far best I stayed at in a long time. From the first moment we stepped foot out of car we were treated like royalty. We really felt like we were in our own apartment. Service was far and beyond what we have expected. My son at one point needed a doctor, what turned out to be strep, the staff […] not only found us a doctor a 8:00pm but drove us to and from doctor. The hotel is fantastic. The people are fantastic. The service is fantastic. The view of Alcatraz right out my window was beautiful. The staff at the hotel were even accomodating enough to hold our personal items and vehicle even after checkout so we could continue shopping in the local shops and restaurants. this was the best hotel we've ever stayed in. The facilities and service were outstanding. I've never been so sad to leave a hotel before! The rooms were beautifully appointed with spacious rooms and every appliance we could possibly need included. Our two bedroom fireplace apartment exceeded our expectations. It had evything you could want and more. […] We loved looking over the bay to Alcatraz island on the terrace with the fire pits. The position in the famous square so neer to the hyde street cable cars and the Fisherman's Wharf area was convenient and ideal for a holiday. After a long flight we were warmly welcomed by the concierge and given an oreintation tour of the hotel and apartment. We received an upgrade to a two bedroomed aprtment which was wonderful and had everything we needed. My husband slept fine, however, and the staff truly did try to work this out for me but the place was booked solid. We love this place! We stayed over night after watching a Giants game. We reserved a 3 bedroom accommodation and all the rooms were lovely. The whole place was very clean and modern. The people who works there gave us a quick tour and run down of the place. We love the quick access to all the fun places like The Girardelli Store, Kara's Cupcakes, McCormicks. Valet […] parking was $50 + tip and where you drop of the car was a little inconvenient being at the corner of an intersection. Les mer

It is a very convenient hotel with great service. In two occasions housekeeping was a little distracted: they didn't empty the trash (diapers included) and they didn't change the crib sheet that had a big milk accident. I removed it to indicate it needed changing, and they just put it back. Everything else was great.
