The place is reasonably clean, and as has been noted, the staff is very good. That said, the rooms can be noisy. But it is a good value for the price.

Overall the hotel was decent for the price that we paid. I think the staff is the best any hotel has to offer. We asked for extra blankets and the hotel was out; however, the staff brought us a stack of sheets to try to keep us comfortable. I really don't know of any other hotel going thru so much to keep others satisfied.

This hotel is close enough to downtown Disney and the theme parks. It is still being renovated. One of the room rented: the door to enter the room was hard to close and/or open. There was a big crack in the shower wall that was patched with caulking. Suspicious red stains on one of the decorative covers on one bed. My daughter found beer bottle caps […] (2) on the floor beside the bed frames. The staff was friendly. I rented 3 rooms and none of them were close to each other. Les mer

Lots of teens staying as part of some team. They were noisy in the hallways and slamming the doors all night long. Was bit by some bug on the first night in the bed. Asked them to change the sheets, I believe they did, and no issues afterwards. Overall it was ok, but will probably choose a different hotel when I stay in the area next time.

Not at all satisfied. The employees were all very nice and helpfull, too bad their hotel is not up to par with their sevice. Room was extremely outdated with old furniture and VERY old carpeting. When I arrived, the hallway outside my room was full of debris (candy wrappers and other stuff). I checked in late at night so I thought maybe they'll clean […] it the next day, but it stayed dirty like that for the remainder of my stay (I stayed for 3 days!!). On the positive side, their complementary breakfast was really good and there is a Walgreens on the corner, at walking distance which was very convenient. I wouldn't stay there again or recommend it to anyone. Would pay a little more and stay somewhere else. Les mer

The Howard Johnson Hotel in Altamonte Springs Florida was the best choice that we could have made. The hotel was extremely close to the highway that we needed to go to and from Disney World and Universal Studios. The price was awesome! The hotel is old but it was very clean. We had a nice stay at the Howard Johnson's. Our room was updated and very comfortable, but a little disappointed that we couldn't open the window or get a full view of the pool. It appeared that was probably the case for the rooms advertised as having balconies facing the pool also, as the balcony was a walk way and it appeared their large double windows […] didn't open either. We did have a microwave, fridge, coffee pot, as well as a very comfortable clean bed, couch and all the usual amenities. The pool and waterfall were fun, not heated, and the outdoor furniture was a little rickety. People had trouble with their room keys and one morning the pool was closed while they fixed the pump on the pool. There was however a good restaurant with an outdoor pool area seating and we were about a mile from a waterside park with walking trails and also close to the junction of I4, a major mall and another freeway. There's also a bar off the lobby and the "Why Not" lounge, which we didn't frequent. Looks like a reasonable deal for families with children. The kids didn't mind the cooler water at all and even the adults seemed to like it once they got wet. Les mer

Better than I spec. Big Room and Great Breackfast

Easy to find from airport and ideally situated for central Florida attactions. Staff friendly, room clean and comfortable and house keeping good. Adequate cooked buffet breakfast. Glad we booked 4 nights and would stay here again and recommend to friends. Good value for money.

Was very clean Emploees were very nice and helpful.Was a little hard to park but averall was good We would stay there again.

We always like staying at this hotel after a fun evening at the Why not Lounge!

I picked the HJ-Altamonte due to it's convenient location. The property has seen better days, but the staff keeps the place running. Nice Pool, decent "Full" breakfast included. Room was very tidy and aside from showing it's age, was very comfortable. The bed had a very nice pillowtopper on the mattress that was very comfortable. My wife and I came back to room after a couple hours found door lached open... I got bites on my chest from something ... Next night,came in about 9 NO PARKING ANYWHERE ....left car in driveway All we got was sorry "O"not a hotel ,don't be fooled like we did by the "Hotel plaza " name ...MOTEL.....all the way

The price is good, but if u would love to enjoy ur stay, pay some more money and choose another hotel. This place is very old and cleaness of the room is not the best.

This hotel is a dump. The rooms was old worn and very dirty. The bedding was clearly in need of replacement as was the carpet. The bathroom was even worse. The tube grout was black and the floors had grime and hair in the corners. I figured since I was unable to check in early the room would at least have been clean. Convenience of hotel was good. Hotel is dated. pool needs a heater.Good value for the money.

We found the hotel easily, The Pool was huge and very nice. The room was clean and updated recently. Carpet and decor looked nice. Beds were comfortable. Breakfast was incredible. Great place for the money!

great stay room great love the waterfall outside room breakfast excellent staff every helpful and friendly would stay there again and recommend this hotel to others.

Room was not ready when we arrived at check-in time. Towels/washclothes were not sufficient for 2 guests. Towels/washclothes were in terrible condition - very thin and ragged. Had to request fresh towels one night and did not receive until 7 p.m. Free continental breakfast was out of food when we arrived at designated time. Had to continuously have […] our keys re-keyed because they would not work. Limited amount of toilet tissue. Service and food were good in restaurant. For a quick stay of 3-4 nights, this hotel has everything you need. Location is right off Interstate 4, only a 20 minute ride to Orando's tourist attractions. Beds very comfortable, and clean. Refrigerator in the room was handy. the Wi-Fi took awhile before it ran smoothe, I kept getting knocked off. The only draw back was the food, although they offer […] breakfast, (full) buffet style, its taste was alot to be desired. I had dinner in the restaurant, amount was suffiecient, but the quality was low. They had entertainment in the Lounge, which was excellent. THE CARPETING IN MY ROOM WAS FILTHY. STAINS AND DIRTY SPOTS THRU-OUT ESPECIALLY GOING INTO THE BATHROOM. I WAS AFRAID TO WALK ON IT WITH MY SLIPPERS DUE TO THE FILTH. BREAKFAST WAS VERY GOOD. ROOM WAS CLEANED NICELY AND EXCEPT FOR THE RUG CONDITION, I WAS SATISFIED. - THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONCERN.

This hotel was very close to the interstate, restaurants, etc. The room was VERY comfortable with the exception of the temperature! The hallway and my room were FREEZING!!! I changed the room temp, but the hallway stayed VERY cold. The maid staff did not leave soap or toilet paper, which was needed. Everything else was great.

This hotel looked nice, but it took us a hour to get checked in and then had to wait on them to clean our room. They had no blankets to sleep with and the air conditioner did not work. When u asked the front desk about anything they either didn't know, laughed at you, or were rude. The only good thing is that the restaurant was very nice and good food […] and service. I will never stay there again and would not recommend them to anybody. Terrible experience which ruined my honeymoon. Les mer

Restaurant was nice. Rest was average.

In the past the Breakfast buffet service was average at best but on my last visit (December 25th & 26th) i can only describe the service as terrible. Both days we had to find a seat outside or go back to our rooms as there were no clean tables even though there were quite a few empty tables inside. (They had no one cleaning the tables) There were no […] coffee cups and the food avaiability was not consistent at all. On both days we waited paitently going back and forth from our rooms hoping that conditions would improve. They didn't so on the 26th we just gave up and left without taking advantage of the breakfast buffet. Les mer

Stayed one night in hotel while traveling in December 2011. Hotel check in clerk was pleasant, rooms recently renovated though very basic.. Beds and bedding were comforable. hotel itself looks tired. rate through Hotels.com was acceptable.

Room was comfortable although the bathroom was a little tight. Felt safe in the neighborhood. Howard Johnson just took over the hotel in August 2011. Rooms were lovely, but the rest of the hotel could use a little sprucing up...especially the dining room. Food service staff worked really hard trying to meet everyone's wants. Buffet food was good, but […] baked goods tended toward the stale side. Front desk staff were challenged to find our reservation, till we told them when it was made. Our stay was more satisfactory because of staff and front desk personal. Overall condition of hotel needs upgrade or more mussel on cleaning especially paint surfaces and furniture. Complimentary breakfast was good too slightly better. Room comfortable. Door locks need attention.

The Howard Johnson Plaza Hotel was located off I 4 and made travel to St. Augustine, Daytna, Kennedy Space Cemter, Cocoa Beach and Sea Worls very easy. The staff were very helpful, our room was quiet and comfortable. Excellent parking. Restuarants were conveniently located. A buffet breakfast was provided. The pool was beautiful. Caution: The name has changed. The only way you will know this is the Howard Johnson Hotel is if you match the picture and go inside and see the Howard Johnson banner behind the counter. The room was clean but the curtins were full of holes. The clerk had my reservation that was paid in full but wanted to charge me again. I was not impressed with this […] hotel at all. great place to spend our first night in Florida. Good onsite `pub' with happy hour and a reasonably priced tasty menu. Included hot breakfast set us up for our drive over to Clearwater - would definitely stay again. Re-carpeting public areas but no problems

The first room I had a big spider in the bed when I pulled back the sheets. The second room was spider room but there was literally a whole under the door I could lay in my bed and see the sun. I was sick of being moved from room to room so I had to stick a plastic bag under the door in the whole fear of more spiders. The bathroom was horrible and it […] took me almost 1 hour to get toliet tissue for my bathroom not sure why I did not have any the front desk stated that when I called the computer showed a different number and thanked me for calling back. I wanted something to drink the so the front desk clerk told me I could go to the bar. When I got to the door the bouncer at the door looked at me like I was nasty and blocked the door and the girl said I will go get you a server and I had to wait outside for a bottle of water outside are you kidding me why I said I am out of here and just left. Please do not stay here unless you are completely broke and they are the only motel in the world. Please stay somewhere else where the people will not treat you like trash and the rooms are clean.
