Close, clean, cheap

Great hotel, nice room, space and staff. Only complaint was that the door was paper thin and people we yelling in the halls all night. The door did not block out any sound.

Overall, we had a pretty good stay despite a few minor bugs. For starters, Long Island City felt pretty safe and clean for two Bostonians, except the hotel itself is surrounded by industrial buildings for a few blocks, making the immediate area outside the hotel grounds a bit sketchy at night. The staff was very courteous by letting us check in an hour […] early and recommending places to eat lunch, but our room smelled of faint cigarette smoke. More afraid that we would be mistakenly charged the hotel's $250 fee for smoking on the premises than offended by the smell, we informed a housekeeper who sprayed the room. However, the smell returned later that night. The next morning we realized that the shower door did not close properly and that water was leaking onto the bathroom floor. When we informed the staff of both problems upon checkout they offered us a free upgrade if we return. Considering that our room was in pretty good shape, its a quick hop over the bridge to Manhattan and the staff was extremely accommodating, we probably will take them up on the offer. Les mer

The Ravel Hotel in New York was a very comfortable hotel, and the staff was very pleasant. Complimentary shuttle service made our site seeing trip very easy and enjoyable. We will definately be booking our next trip to New York at this hotel!

The shuttle is not free and not scheduled as their website claim.

The view from the hotel is great. I recently stayed on the 5th floor and could see the tourists' camera flashes atop the Empire State Building from my balcony. The cool air from the river and the not-so-busy street traffic made it very relaxing considering how close I was to Manhattan. The rooms had a very modern feel and the hotel isn't poorly located […] so I began to wonder why they were so reasonably priced. Upon arriving it became apparent why the rates were so low. It's no secret that most hotels want you to use the pre-stocked items which is how they make their money back for their lower rates. The Ravel offered high-end bottled water, high end liquor (yet low-end beer) and a nice restaurant located on the roof. However, The Ravel takes it a step further and also charges for WiFi. For a moment I felt like I was back in 1999. Getting over that inial shock I went to put my water in the mini-fridge and found the unit was on the lowest setting with no means of changing it. I'm okay with that since cold water is bad for digestion. I was just glad I didn't have anything else that needed cooled below 55 degrees Fahrenheit. After looking a little closer I realized somebody went on an IKEA shopping spree to revamp the place. That's not a bad thing but still the facade of luxury fades every time you look around and think to yourself "Am I standing in IKEA or my hotel room?" If you're looking for a nice room with a very nice staff then try The Ravel. The view of the city is worth while and I felt that it is conveniently located, just remember to bring a 3g/4g WiFi adapter. Les mer

Very convenient location. We walked to and from the subway every day. I never once felt scared of the neighborhood. The price was great and the staff were very friendly. Our view was not the greatest, we were on the second floor and there is an old building being worked on right in front of the hotel. The view was great around it, but unfortunately […] it blocked a lot of it. The hotel needs some better cleaning and it would look much better. Overall though, it was well worth the price and I would definately stay here again. Les mer

Place was nice, room was clean, it lived up to everything that website said, however, i upgraded to a room with a balcony and a view of the Manhattan skyline and what I got was a 2nd floor room with a view of a building under construction. Could not see skyline at all, nice view of the 59th street bridge but no skyline. Make sure u ask for a higher […] floor. It was not worth the extra money I paid for a 2nd floor room with no view! I've stayed in many hotels, I do my research normally. I chose this hotel because it said boutique hotel and I was able to cancel my reservation if need be. The hotel is in an industrial area, it's about a 7 minute walk from the subway but it feels like an unsafe area. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful and the lobby was very nice and modern. […] The hallways were not very nice and the room we stayed in was suppose to be a suite, it was disgusting. The walls were suppose to be white but they had black dirt marks everywhere, the carpet was so dirty it was actually sticky, there was hair in the shower, the pictures online were nothing like what the rooms looked like. The water in the shower would not stay hot. I was so grossed out I wore my boots in the room and I only stayed one night and gave up my payment for the second night and stayed elsewhere. I would not recommend this hotel, it needs some serious cleaning and renovations. Les mer

The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The shuttle to the MTR station works well. Breakfast was ok. We lived in the 3rd floor and the noise of the street and penthouse music came to the room at night it doesn't bother us. The shower was constructed poorly, the water came out from the shower to the toilet floor. If you don't mind little things […] this is good hotel for you. I wouldn't give the hotel 4 star like hotels.com maybe 2 1/2 or 3-. Les mer

The hotel room looked nothing like the pictures. It's a cheapy hotel trying to pass for an upscale and hip hotel--it's not. Really dreadful location and quality for price.

There location was so bad, there enterence also not really good and there service was horrible!!! My room was 2nd floor, it was so noise because it just located right next to big road.. Walking people might see inside.it was terrible experience for us....I'm. Strongly not recommend this hotel for everybody..

This was a really cute boutique hotel that we chose for a staycation. The hotel has amazing views of Manhattan, modern rooms, a great restaurant/bar, and a free shuttle. We were upgraded to a larger room with a balcony at no additional charge. We very much enjoyed our stay, except the pictures make the hotel seem like a 4-5 star, and in my opinion, […] its more like a 3.5 star. Les mer

Very helpful staff, convenient shuttle service, and a clean, modern and cozy room.

The stay was more then entertaining and comfortable. The only downside was the breakfast, not worth the price for what seems to be leftovers. The Ravel still makes up for it with the comfort and fun their room offers.

I decided to give my BF a Pre-Valentines day surprise here. I checked in no problems hotel front desk was very nice. Walls are VERY THIN. But EVERYTHING was worth it. Everything in pictures are exactly as the rooms... The View of the Bridge and city skyline was amazing and VERY ROMANTIC!!! Were born and raised New Yorkers so the Get away was nice and […] quiet. If staying here and wanna see the view best to stay on the fourth floor. Mini Bar is expensive as well as liquor so dont bother. THE BATHROOMS ARE WONDERFUL...and different. Room took a min to warm up but a staff member came right away to help. ONLY CON: The restaurant "Penthouse 808" literally the penthouse. VERY NICE atmosphere and the view at night was amazing and romantic... salmon was wonderful and Melted in our mouths. SO i uess your wondering why its a Con..well for one the PRICE, be prepared to spend a grip. 20% gratuity added on your bill. SO forget tipping. And it sthe same if u do roomservice so u choose. BUt the nice view is better. Also kitchen closes at 10. I got there at 9. And the Hostess was trying to turn me away and get me not to stay EVEN Though i told her i was meeting my boyfriend and hed be there any second. she replied "THATS FINE JUST KNOW U GOTTA BE OUT BY 10" ..i refrained from answering her the way i couldve only cause i Didnt wanna cause a problem that would've. Messed up my Bf's surprise. She then tried to sit me literally right next to the door. I asked if i oculd sit further in cause i didnt want my bf to see me right away also so we werent right next to the door and we had a better table to see the view of the skyline, she told me No i couldnt sit to far in. Cause they were clearing up soon. I rolled my eyes at her and sat further anyway cause #1 i was a guest at the hotel and #2 i was really getting tired of her ish and the fact she must not like her job. Located in Long Island City. A little tricky to find. We missed our turn and ended up going over Queensboro Bridge and back again, but easy to get into Manhattan. Rooms are spacious for NY. Nice Zen decor with sliding frosted glass walls to Bath. Robes provided. Mini Bar, fridge in room, beds comfey. Very reasonable rates. Love the balconies facing […] Manhattan skyline view. Excellent Asian restaurant on roof top! Excellent service, Food reasonable, drinks expensive!! Free Parking!!! Really helpful staff. We need to go to NY 2x a month and this has become our Hotel of choice. Les mer

Loved the Hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Answered all of my question. I will be staying here every time I visit NYC. The bar on top of the hotel had a great view of the city. The bar staff was FAB. Drinks were great! Nice price always a plus. A+++

This isnt' a bad hotel, but if your looking for something comfy and nice then this isn't the place. The rooms are not like the pics, there so different. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone, but the only thing i liked was the lounge/bar on the top.

The hotel was OK for the price. I only had two issues. The first issue being that the shower door didn't close or seal properly leaving me to mop up the water that leaked out .... the second issue was during the checkout... I was asked to pay for my room during, when I had already paid for my room when I checked in. Lucky for them it was resolved quickly […] and without further issue.... not bad but not all that good.... luckily I got a OK price on the room..... Les mer

The front desk was very knowledgeable, the free shuttle and call for car service was great. My room was small and bathroom probably needed a little updating. Also on Sat night when the club on the top floor was hopping...so was my room! Didn't sleep until 3 am when the club closed. Would stay here again just in a different room--mine was 303.

My fiance and I wanted to get away for a day but didnt want to go to far and the Ravel hotel was of convience.the inside was beautiful and modern and the room was very clean and comfortable. Also my fiance loved the view of the bridge from our balcony. would visit again and recommand

When I booked the room, I chose Ravel Hotel because even if outside of Manhattan, the quality would compensate for the distance. It is not very far, only ten minutes from two metro station that lead on Manhattan, but enough for it to be annoying. If the hotel would have been a 4 star like said on the website, it wouldn't have been a problem, but you […] can find the same quality for the same price in Manhattan, this is for sure. Furthermore, they gave us a room with no view, and the shower was flooding the washroom. Les mer

I know it was new years day but I would have liked to just ordered room service or maybe a drink at the bar but they were closed.

I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel, the rooms are really nice and the view is great (Manhattan Skyline) and Queensborough Bridge. Access to the subways is a little bit of a hike, neighborhood isn't bad. I liked the fact that our room had a balcony (super rare in NYC). Price was great!!!

Would not recommend to anyone. No hot water. Did not c/o only in hotel less than 24 hours. Remote did not work. Rude at desk. Area gritty.

Three nights of nightmare... We did not sleep because the bed was unconfortable. The location was'nt a problem. The hotel service was OK.

This hotel is great for those who want to save but do not leave the comfort of hand. The only downside is the distance from the subway station to the hotel, I think about 20 minutes from the station F. With about 10 minutes you're in Manhattan, very close. But the hotel offers a car every 30 minutes and then another car every hour. The service is not […] bad, the staff is attentive and kind. And the price is well worth it. No stranger to the area outside the hotel because the google maps is a bit ugly, but is very calm and several days later I arrived at the hotel and nothing bad happened. The young girl at the main desk was extremely polite and helpful. The king suite was very clean and had a beautiful view.

I gave Ravel a poor review for the condition/ maintenance of the hotel.Upon arrival we were shown to the corridor leading to our room on the firt floor and on the way there had to 'jump a puddle' in the corridor. There was a leak in the ceiling which created a massive lake in the carpeted hallway in which there was no room to walk around it. We stayed […] on oct 31st during a snow/rain northeaster storm. THe style of our hotel room had two glass doors that closed in the bathroom but one of our doors didn't close completely so there was no privacy in the bathroom. The shower door didn't seal either which created a flood in our bathroom. As for the quality of the hotel staff we have no complaints. Every one we encountered was pleasant.The cleanliness of our room was disappointing at best. We were grossed out to find many different hair colors/types in the shower. The beds were very comfortable but there was no lighting. We didn't want to open our shades because our room was on the fist floor and we were relaxing in bed. Les mer

Instead of emptying your wallet for a tiny room in Manhattan, just cross the bridge to Long Island City where you can stay in style and total comfort at Ravel. The hotel location is fantastic! Just a quick ten minute walk from the Metro and you are immersed in Ravel's fun, unique and trendy atmosphere. This hotel is beautifully designed and maintained […] and the staff is polite and helpful. The rooms are affordable, spacious, and very clean. Ravel provides a shuttle service which leaves right on the hour, every hour. (A wine tasting in the lobby-lounge is the best way to wait for its arrival!) The Penthouse bar provides the perfect Kodak moment for anyone's trip to the Big Apple. Love, love, love this hotel! Les mer

The best feature of this hotel is being able to drive into the city and have a parking space (if available). I would not consider this to be as high-end as the hotel considers themselves to be, it is just a standard hotel. The advantage is being just a few blocks walk from the train, and only one stop to midtown.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for 4 days and it was fantastic. Quick walk from the train so you can get in and out of Manhatten quickly and easily. Staff were very helpful and the views from the bar were brilliant. Would recommend.
