"Wingate in Abilene, TX"
This was one of the loudest rooms I have ever stayed in. I could hear the people walking around in the room above me, children running and screaming on one side of me, and men in general conversion on the other side of me. In addition, I could also hear people at the ice machine...and I was the second from the furthest away from it (Room 221). I drove […] to Abilene from Houston for a funeral so the noise was beyond unsettling. And at that price point...in ABILENE...I would have thought I wouldn't have had to put up with such poor sound proofing/ construction. I will not use this line of hotels again and will tell other of my experience. Les mer

"Just your average hotel with a not so good price"
I found this hotel to be just satisfactory. I booked this hotel because I wanted an average hotel that included breakfast and didn't charge for internet or parking. The hotel room was very clean but the refrigerator did not work (which was a problem for us). It didn't include a mini-freezer which we really needed and the breakfast was average and ended […] at 9:30. I feel there are much better hotels that offer the same perks and don't charge as much. "Luv Wingate"
I always seem to stay at the wyndam Wingate hotels. The price is always right. Clean Rooms & bathrooms. Great hot breakfast. Abilene's Wingate only had 3 flaws this time. 1 the alarm clock didn't work went to desk, asked to have replaced. Desk guy said in the morning....HUh??? Bahaha was he kidding. I asked for a wake up call. They never replaced it. […] Thank god for Cell Phone Alarms. 2. Usually their pillows are great these sucked, and my neck was killing me the whole stay. 3. Outside light on ground floor under my window, lite the room up all night. Felt like I was sleeping next to the road crew Lights they have at night to work on the road! Other wise everything else was great. Am I being to picky?? I will be back in Abilene in 30 days, I will get a 2nd or 3rd story Room. Les mer
"Nicer than expected"
This is better than most two star hotels such as the Hampton Inn but priced about the same. This particular location looks brand new on the inside and has a good breakfast. The rooms are very nice and modern looking. The only limitation is the rooms and bathrooms are a bit smaller but still has a nicer feel to it. I would stay here again.

My husband and I are from Oklahoma and we travel to Abiliene to visit our son several times a year and and stay at the Wingate. The rates are reasonable, the breakfast is really good, the rooms are clean and it is comfortable. It has an exercise room that I always use and that is important. "Abilene Tx"
First thing I noticed was a pair of underwear behind a chair. Front desk offered to move me different room. The room didn't have an iron avalible so had to call front desk for one. I go to Abiene once a month......won't be staying at your hotel.

Everything was great except for the front desk help. I felt like I was a nuisance when I asked foe extra towels. I had a child in my arms, purse, diaper bag and shopping bags and was handed a bunch of towels on top of everything I was holding! "Nice but noisey hotel"
Enjoyed our stay. The staff was helpful and friendly. However, the walls in the hotel are thin! We could easily hear guests beside and above us. Ask for third flood room to decease the noise levels.

"Beautifully appointed but limited TV channels"
The hotel is beautifully decorated and very comfortable. The staff was very helpful, in particular with directions for returning to the hotel from Hardin Simmons University. The only limitation was very few TV channels. The breakfast was very nice.

"Not our best Wingate Experience"
We were just a little disappointed by this hotel. We have stayed at other Wingates and have always had a positive experience. This hotel is nice, the rooms are spacious, the bed was very comfortable, the complimentary breakfast was a plus. On the negative side, the trash can in our room was full of beer bottles from the previous guests, I assume. The […] carpet in the room was stained and dirty, and the room was a bit pricey to be so far off the interstate. Also, when we arrived it was raining and there were other guests unloading and waiting to unload their bags. There was only room for one car at a time because there was a car parked under the covered area in front of the hotel. It was there when we arrived and it was still there later when we returned from dinner. I don't know if it belonged to a hotel employee or a guest, but it was inconsiderate to the other guests who had to wait in line to unload their cars. Also, the young man at the front desk was unfriendly. Not rude, just not friendly. The morning girl was much nicer. Les mer

We stayed at this hotel on our way to Waco for a wedding. Having never stayed at a Wingate before, we were unfamiliar with it and had only the reviews from others and pictures on the web site to evaluate the place. "Needs another STAR"
My job brings me to Abilene once a month. After a six-hour drive and numerous stops along the way, I look forward to some R & R. Finding a place to achieve that has been more difficult than I thought. Well, my search is over. Great room, wonderfull bed, amenities galore and........peace. This place deserves another star!

"A gem of a hotel"
This is a budget-friendly hotel with a high-end feel. I loved the closet with double doors as well as the comfortable linens. The black-out curtains worked wonderfully as my mother and I slept until 10 am! I don't remember the last time I slept that well! Will definitely stay again next time I'm in Abilene!!

The outside was a mess...looked un-kept the flower beds and parking area was knee high with weeds!. Our room was clean and the breakfast was good, but our TV did not work and was not fixed during our stay.

"Nice hotel in Abilene"
My husband and I came to Abilene for an overnight stay to see a concert in conjunction with the West Texas Book and Music Festival...the hotel was nice, clean and convenient. When we arrived at 4:00 P.M. to check in, there was no one to be found neither at the front desk, nor in any of the offices. We rang the bell several times and no response. Finally […] we called the hotel from our cell phone and that got the clerk to the front desk! Other than that, the service was great and courteous. The only other complaint is the breakfast "eggs" -- we travel a lot and are used to the scrambled egg substitute that is routinely served in hotels these days, but these were undercooked and pretty awful. Luckily, there was plenty of other protein to eat and a nice assortment of other items. Over all, it was a good stay, with very clean and comfortable rooms and nice staff. Les mer
"Pleasantly Surprised"
I book a lot of hotels for my salesman husband who travels a bit for work. I normally will only get a 3.5 or 4 star hotel. After reading the reviews from travelers on this hotel, I hesitantly booked a 2 nite stay and held my breath since the star rating system on hotels.com only gave Wingate by Wyndham 2.5 stars. My husband was pleasantly surprised […] and stated this star rating needed to be adjusted to at least a 3.5 since it compares easily to the 3-4 star rated hotels. the hotel looked like it had not been open for more than a yr or so. Very nicely decorated out . Nice size in main room and bathroom. Morning breakfast is just that but they had to go cups for coffee, trays to take food back to your rooms and they had a lady restocking stuff the whole time we were filling our tray up.
