God beliggenhet i old quarter med gangavstand til kiem lake. (Omtrent 20 min.) Frokosten var noe mangelfull, men helt ok. Svært behjelpelige ansatte som kan fikse det meste. Småbarnfamilier bør styre unna hoteller midt old quarter da trafikken er kaotisk. Forvent ikke at det stoppes ved rødt lys. Rommet vårt hadde vindu mot bakgården, så det var stille og rolig.

Vi er en familie paa fem, med tre barn paa 6, 8, og 11. Vi fikk et stort rom som hadde god plass til oss alle sammen. Det tok ca 15 minutter aa gaa ned til vannet rundt gamlebyen. Personalet paa hotellet var hjelpsomme og hjalp oss aa booke tog billetter, baattur i Halong bay. For vaar del var to overnattinger nok i Hanoi. Det var en by med mye trafikk og vanskelig aa komme seg frem, da alle parkerte mopedene sine paa fortauet.

Godt og billig hotell. Hyggelig personale og god frokost. Rommet var rent og helt greit. Veldig sentral beliggenhet like ved gamlebyen. Eneste negative var den intense trafikkstøyen hele døgnet.

"Ikke spesielt bra."
Det var pris og beliggenhet som førte til at vi tok dette hotellet. Det ligger svært fint til, i Hanois gamleby, rett ved siden av den franske katedralen. I nærheten ligger det mange gode spisesteder. Hotellet ble vi skuffet over. Mest av alt dreide det seg om badet hvor sluket lå på det høyeste punktet. Derfor flommet det over. Det luktet også innestengt. Servicen […] var vel så som så, selv om hotellbetjeningen var hyggelig. Det virket som flere ikke særlig trent i å ta imot turister. Engelskkunnskapene og frokosten kunne vært bedre, men ellers har jeg ingen ting å klage på! Vi bestilte turer via hotellet og det var helt utmerket service i forhold til henting og låning av hotellrom når det bare var timer mellom turene- til tross for at vi hadde sjekket ut! Veldig behagelig!

Plasseringen av hotellet er flott, like bak katedralen i en stille (vel, i Hanoi standarder) tilbake smug. Ansatte, william & ruby er svært nyttig, og har en stor sans for humor. De kan gi deg råd om alt fra restauranter til spas til å organisere hele Vietnam reisen. Oppholdt for to netter deretter fortsatte med å Ha Long Bay og Sapa tur stor, god valuta […] for pengene . "Nice hotel"
We only spent one night here, as we were just passing by. The rooms are small, and the bathrooms are just OK. But nothing bad. It really depends what you compare it up against. If you wish to stay in the middle of the old city, this is a nice place to start. However if you plan to sit inside your hotel room all day, you might want to pick a place to […] stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and even followed us to the train station and helped us get the right train tickets and get on the right train. Fint lite hotell, med bra beliggenhet i sentrum av Hanoi. Kort avstand til det meste som er verdt a se! Hyggelig og behjelpsom betjening. Bra storrelse pa rom med egen pc og internett.
"God beliggenhet"
Hotellet ligger fint til ved St Joseph katedralen. Vi fikk ikke det rommet vi hadde bestilt 1. natten, og rommet var uten vindu. Byttet rom neste dag og fikk et OK rom slik vi hadde bestilt. Behjelpelig betjening, men litt vanskelig a forsta hvem som jobbet der og hvem som kun var innom for a snakke med betjeningen.

Friendly staff, decent price. Nothing bad to say about it really. Room was clean, bathroom was smallish but again for the price there's no complaint there. TV worked, it wasn't a noisy location at night and the location was great. They allowed me to use a room to shower and change after going to ha long bay for a night - despite the fact I wasn't staying […] there afterwards - with no charge. "Hotel in Hanoi - Closer to all locations"
Very good hotel for the price charged. Rooms are clean and reasonably spacious. Also hotel location is walking distance most of the shopping and food restaurants. Only down part is it is a located in a very narrow lane to which a Cab cannot go upto hotel door step, but rather have to get off at the top of the lane and walk down to the hotel.

"Splendid Star Classic Hotel - Hanoi"
Cheap and great location. Service is not the high standard we enjoyed in other hotels in Vietnam, no wifi, cleanliness was questionable, a bit dumpy. Also, we booked two rooms and we ended up with two couples in a family room. Not sure if this was fault of the hotel or the website we booked through.
"Fantastic staff at this hotel"
Met on arrival by very enthusiastic staff. Very happy and welcoming. We were greeted with welcome drinks and given an introduction to the attractions near the hotel, which they kindly marked on a map. Then came the hard sell by the travel agent. Initially he came across as very pleasant when we told him that we would be taking a trip to Halong Bay. […] He started by showing us some very high end, expensive tours and when we didnt show interest more books came out and the tours got cheaper. We had already done our research on this so knew exactly which boat we wanted to take and the price we wanted to pay. When we told him this, he became quite aggressive, telling us that the boat we had chosen was old, and we would not enjoy our trip. When it became clear that he was not going to change our minds, he offered to book the boat for us. We conceded slightly and asked him to let us know what price he could get it for. The price he came back with was US$140 more than we could book it for ourselves. We therefore declined his offer. We then asked him how much a local tour would cost for our party of 4. He said US$50 each. We declined that also after which he refused to speak to us for the rest of our stay. I am not sure if he is employed by Splendid or whether he is employed by a travel company and is based at Splendid. Either way he let's down the rest of the staff who were absolutely faultless. We left our bags at the hotel whilst we went to Halong Bay and they arranged overnight train tickets for us from Hanoi to Hue. On our return the staff were very pleased to see us, asked if we had enjoyed our trip (which we had) and made us tea and offered us fruits whilst we waited to leave. They didn't charge us either for the fruit or the tea. When we offered to pay, they said it was their pleasure to give it. They had mentioned that they would arrange transport to the railway station for us but we were unprepared for their kindness when they insisted that two of the boys would ac Les mer

Nice location in Hanoi but even in a little street it is really noisy, people in the hotel are nice but totally incompetent ! I had to check by myself from where the water was coming to stop it !!!

"Splendid star classic hotel"
A good little hotel. We had a bit of an unlucky stay - the TV didn't work but after 2 calls to reception, someone came to look at it - to tell us it wasn't working (doh). They were happy to leave it this way until I suggested that they move another tv that worked from another room which they did straight away. In the morning, there was no water at all […] - they said it would be fixed in an hour - 3 hours later it wasn't - they said just to wait until we suggested they find somewhere for us to go to the toilet, clean our teeth etc. Think we were just unlucky. The staff were lovely about it but they should be the ones suggesting a solution really. Having said that, it's a common trait in Vietnam it seems. Les mer

I always stayed at the Splendid Star Hotel group every time I come to Hanoi. Very interesting that all 4 hotels of the same owner are right next to one another. I guess when location matters, why not? The hotel is located in a large alley that is clean. This is not your kinda hotel if you want taxi to drop you off right at the front door, but if you […] don't mind walking just right around the corner then it is worth it. The hotel is literally right to the side of the best known and largest cathedral in Hanoi with wonderful shops and eateries right there. Hoan Kiem Lake, the main lake, is less than 5 minutes walk. I always book my reservations through hotels.com and always get excellent rate for the hotel. For my small budget and need for a comfortable, clean, friendly, and convenient location, I have always chosen this hotel. Les mer

All-in-all, the hotel was satisfactory. There are 3 "Splended Star" hotels next to each other, so check the building number address carefully. The street is very narrow, so airport taxis can only bring you to the nearest intersection. We did not find this to be a 3 star hotel, as they claim on the website. You can easily find similar prized hotels in Hanoi with a much higher standard. Did not check out the splendid star 2 and 3 next door, so they might be better.
"Great hotel, great location!"
The Splendid Star Classic Hotel is really nice. It is in a great location surrounded by popular sight-seeing sights and great restaurants. The room was nice a clean. The bathroom was pretty tiny but I am small myself so it didn't bother me. However, if you are tall, beware, your knees may be touching the wall when you sit down on the toilet. Breakfast […] selection was great. If you order Vietnamese food they get it from the local street vendors and it is delicious. "Convenient location but hidden"
We arrived late at night and taxi had hard time finding it. One of our rooms wasn't available and we were put in a tiny room with barely room for our suitcase and an A/C that poured water all night. Probably the worst motel room I've ever stayed in. The next day we were quickly moved to a large room with a great balcony that was ten times better than […] the first room but still not as nice as any other hotels we visited in Vietnam/Cambodia at the same price. Breakfast was okay but again nothing compared to our other stays in the area. Staff was pleasant and helpful. Location was convenient walk to everything we wanted to see, but like the other reviews said, even the locals can't find this address. "Perfect place for a few days in Hanoi"
We stayed splendid star hotel for 3 nights, and the hotel has definitely exceeded our expectations. It is located right in the center of the old quarter, so we were able to walk around to many of the attractions. Even taking the taxi is very reasonable since everything is so close by. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, pointing us to attractions […] to see and also giving us pointers on places to eat, taxis etc. Our room was very clean and bright, exactly as described by the website and photos. The breakfast that's included was also very good and we enjoyed it a lot. Amenities were also great with a nice sized TV in our room, and also wireless internet with a computer in our room as well. We also had the hotel arrange a one day tour to Ha Long Bay for us. We had a great time, and the tour was professionally organized. Car is spacious and clean, and the tour guide is fluent in English and also very knowledgeable. Overall we had a very enjoyable time in Hanoi, and we would definitely recommend the hotel. Les mer

we stayed at Splendid Star for 4 nights.There are not enough words to describe how great the splendid star Hotel is william, ruby , and the rest of the staff can not do enough for you. They genuinely care about making your stay the best ever. From the moment we arrived, to the moment we left they were so accommodating. They recommended restaurants which […] were always right on, they booked our city tour, Halong Bay trip,sapa trip booked our flights to Danang and Ho Chi Minh, arranged hotels in Hoi An, Hue and Ho Chi Minh city, along with drivers and hotel pick-up, then followed up with a phone call to us in Hue to make sure everything was OK. These are awesome people and very genuine. As for the hotel itself, it is in a great location in the Old Quarter. Everything is within easy walking distance - shopping, restaurants, etc. The rooms are beautifully decorated. We stayed in a deluxe room for the first 3 nights and then moved to a suite after our Halong Bay trip which was larger, both were good choices. Free computer in the room is also a nice plus that you don't get anywhere else. Do not hesitate to book your stay at the splendid star Hotel. They will make it one of your most memorable stays ever. "Near by St. Joseph's Chathedral"
Good location, good service, and really kind staff. I feel thankful for their handling and sorry a lot for my mistake. We arrived there at the early dawn but the staff offered coffee and a small room to us and then they replaced our room after cleaning. And we thought we had just one bottle of water in the minibar so we didn't pay them for another one. […] On the way to the airport, we noticed we had 2 bottles of water. Each time we returned to Hotel Charming 2 between these trips our children reffered to it as "Home Sweet Home'. The room themselves are lovely, quite for Hanoi and the location very central. The complimentary fruit and wine and internet access in your room where also lovely touches. Our stay here was a truely fantastic experience for both ourselves and our children and we consider ryby and william to be the best hotel staff we have had the privilage to meet. we strongly recommend this hotel to anyone and the next time I will come , my family will stay at this hotel for sure ...! It is difficult to write anything which has not already been said by other very satisfied customers of the splendid star Hotel. The staff are extremely friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them. The rooms are not large, but they are very clean and well –equipped. The hotel is in the middle of the Old Quarter, but located in a quiet alley removed from the incessant noise of cars and motorbikes which is a characteristic of Hanoi. From all the reviews I read previously I expected something awesome the Splendid Hotel was comfortable, cheap and in a good location but nothing to write home about! The two biggest downsides are the noise factor and the breakfast which was gross. "Much better than expected"
splendid star rooms , splendid star staff , splendid location : We used the Splendid Star Hotel as our basis for trips to other spots like Hoi An and Ha Long Bay. So it was a little like coming home after a couple of days. The staff is very friendly an they'll help you when ever you may need help. We found William & all the staff at the splendid hotel very pleasant and accomodating. They were very helpful and organised our tours to Halong Bay & SaPa. The tours were very well planned allowing us time to relax and enjoy the trips, We were met on time by all our tour guides & drivers and felt safe in their care..The food at the Hotel & both tours […] was very good.. They even had a staff member to take & pick us up at the train station on our overnight trip to SaPa.. "Okay for a no fuss short stay"
The staff was quite helpful although most of the time they did not seem to understand what I was staying. The hotel is located down an extremely narrow street, so no cars. The location is pretty good in Hanoi. My room was comfortable, however the bathroom had an extremely evident mouldy shower curtain. A part from that I had no issues with the hotel, […] and the computer with internet in the room was a plus. I had no trouble with noise...so if you are looking for a budget, no fuss place...this is pretty good for that. Les mer

This hotel was very good value for money for double room with breakfast. Lovely pancakes for breakfast too! All staff (except one) were very helpful and friendly. Hotel is in the heart of Hanoi so in a very busy lively area - in a road with many backpacker hostels. "A very friendly hotel in Hanoi"
This hotel is situated within a minute's walk from St Joseph church, in the heart of Hanoi, so it is ideal if you want to stay in the old quarter of town. It's also in a very narrow street which doesn't allow cars or motorcycles to come close. Unfortunately, it's also a street where cheap meat and fruit open restaurants are selling their stuff and the […] street is full of customers eating and talking until 11 pm, so I wouldn't recommend staying in the family room facing the street, just above the hotel's entrance. This is not to say the room is not worth the money, far from it. It's a large 2 queen-size bedroom (large enough for 4) with all the convenience (nice bathroom, large tv (the connection with a portable mini DVD player doesn't work), good air-con and in-room computer with Internet. Other rooms have Internet if they're large enough. Some rooms don't have a window, so, ask to visit before taking a room. Breakfast is reasonable and quickly prepared. The personnel is very friendly. There are travel agencies every 10 meter or so in the direction from the hotel. All in all, a very pleasant place to stay in (except for the noise until late as noticed above). ooms were large, bright, spotless and absolutely everything works, lovely And as good as the pics (makes a change) room safe aircon, satalite TV, DVD (films frre to borrow) kettle, tea and coffee - in addition staff will room service drinks tea coffee juices free of charge. The location is perfect, right in the center of Hanoi’s old quarter, and down […] a short lane, which is always quieter than a regular street. The staff are warm, friendly, speak very good English and took good care of us , services with smiles !. The breakfast at the hotel was amazing. Not a buffet style but the quality beats everything with many order ( vietnam food + western) : i love banana pancake with honey , toast is great . We purchased our 2-day tour of Halong Bay, and our 4-day tour of Sapa, and our flight tickets to bangkok from william ( 1 great package tours ) is excellent , great value for money ...! Friendly staff. Nice breakfast "whatever you wish" as much as you can eat. The house is so small and the staircase is narrow.... but then the rooms are so nice, have everything you need, even a computer in every room! Comfy large bed, good shower in small bathroom. Large flatscreen TV. Reasonable price for laundry, minibar. And the friendly staff helped […] with everything we needed: visa for re-entry into Vietnam , tour information , Airport-pickup. And even if you are in the middle of the old quarter, it is rather quiet because the hotel is in a small lane where cars cannot pass through (some do....) so there is no traffic noise. stayed here for 2 nights and loved it! Its quite new with modern contemporary furnishings, lovely big bathroom with rain shower head, selection of fresh fruits in the room every day, free wi-fi , computer in the room and DVD player in every room with big flatscreen tv. friendly and helpful staff, always with smiles on their faces. breakfast was good […] too, freshly prepared and nicely presented, great waiter. "Fantastic service, perfect location , great tour"
We booked this hotel for our 1 night in Hanoi because of the excellent hotels.com reviews. We were not let down! From the moment we were picked up at the airport to the time we left Hanoi, the service we received was excellent. I booked an airport transfer because of worrying about all the taxi scams I had heard about in Hanoi. It's a fair drive from […] the aiport to the old quarter and the traffic is pretty crazy so we definately thoguth it was worth the price. I don't know what the cost of a taxi would have been though as we didn't catch any taxis during our stay in Hanoi. The man who picked us up at the airport carried our bags and even made sure the air con was blasting in our direction! We arrived, were greeted with a welcome drink and towel, and were shown to our room. Again our bags were carried for us whenever they had to be moved which was a nice touch! The room was small but very nice and clean with everything we needed. The bed had little flowers on it, as did the bathroom basin and shower floor! I am very fussy about bathrooms and this one was really nice. The room even had a computer with free internet (wow). My only minor complaint would be that the pillows were very uncomfortable but the bed was comfy and firm (all beds in Vietnam are quite hard!) The location was right in the middle of the old quarter - which had many shops and the lake. We didn't go to any other areas so can't comment if this was a nice/not nice part of town in general. We left after our first night to go to Halong Bay with opera cruise. We had breakfast included before we left and it was great! They made your breakfast to order and there was a great menu - we had banana pancakes and french toast - both amazing! The hotel staff offered to arrange an airport transfer for when we returned which we took them up on so we got dropped back at the hotel after our cruise and they gave us a glass of water andoffered for us to shower if we wanted whilst waiting for our car! "Unbelievably awesome service,AAA Rating everything"
We traveled for 2 months, went to 6 countries in Asia and stayed in 32 hotels - ranging from 2-5 stars. splendid star was one of the most memorable. We have no hesitation in ranking splendid star the highest, number 1 for service out of all the hotels we stayed in. No other hotel even came close to the AMAZING staff at this lovely boutique hotel. We […] are not usually fussed about service, we are easily pleased with a clean room, nice atmosphere and a good location. splendid star was above and beyond in every aspect. We also ranked the room as one of the nicest - Definitely a 5 star quality room - it was clean, large, comfortable, modern and had so many lovely chique touches. There was a lap top with free internet in the room, a flat screen TV, big bathtub and view balcony . Breakfast was great. It was not a buffet, but we could order and eat as much as we pleased - it was the only place in Asia where I asked for a 'mug' of tea and actually got one, instead of those piddly little tea cups!! And to add to that, the tea was hot instead of lukewarm. splendid star organised tours for us and we nearly fell over when the hotel arranged (free) for one of their staff to take us to the train station for our trip to Sapa. He didn't just drop us off, he carried our bags and by passed the long line up of people trying to work out which train to get on, took us to the right carriage and found our cabin. "Exceptional staff, good location, nice rooms!"
Yes, the hotel is hidden down an alley way, along with the Splendid Star and other hotels, but that's actually a relief in Hanoi. It's clean and comfy and the staff sit you down as soon as you arrive with a welcoming drink and conversation. They really do appreciate how weary travellers feel and I can't commend them enough. Free internet and computer […] in our room. Satelite TV. Also, the exchange rate they were giving us was better than anywhere else we found in Hanoi. *Be aware - although the hotel is situated in a quiet alley way, by night it turns into an outdoor restaurant which stays open until about 11.00 pm. So may ask for a room away from the street, as we have found street noise to be a problem everywhere in Vietnam. Also, the cathederal near by chimes at about 5.00 am for a ridiculous amount of time...not the hotel's fault. The hotel is in a great location, a short walk to Hoan Kiem lake. If you are awake early in the morning, go and have a look...it's very interesting and I dare you to walk anti clockwise :) But don't stop for a cup of coffee at the lakeside cafe, they charged us VND130.000 for two cappuccinos, usually a VN cup of coffee is around VN15.000 each. Eating: Not far is Ly Quoc Su street, good for something to eat. Try Cafe 12. Great food and prices and a good spot to sit and watch the sights go by - see the photo. Or, turn left out of the hotel entrance, then left at the corner and on the next corner is Panini's. They do a great toasted baguette with meat and salad for a great price - see photo. Near Kangaroo Cafe (the real one) and to the left we ate at Huyen Huong. It was really nice and clean and the food was great. But, it's not the cheapest, they even charged us for the use of the packaged wet towelettes. Steamed rice, chicken curry, water spinach in garlic butter, fired prawns and 3 Heinikins = VND348.000 Souvenirs - one street back and parallel to Ly Quoc street you can find heaps of souvenir shops. "Just perfect..Couldn't be better !"
The hotel room is clean, spacious room with nice looking shower, the computer in the room , bed very comfy . The amenities look like you are in the 5 star hotel. The best is the price less than for a 3 star hotel. Hotel front desks are very helpful. Always smile and ask if I need help. The breakfast are ok but the very clean. The waiter kepts asking […] if I need anything and if the breakfast is ok to my taste. It is right in the middle of the old quarters so the walks to all around the restaurants are closed by and 5 min. to Hoan Kiem lake. Highly recommend !*****! Les mer
nice little hotel, a couple of minutes walk from the lake. Only issue we had was with the bells from the Cathedral next door. Apart from that we had an enjoyable stay there.

We spent a total of 10 days at the splendid star Hotel, interspersed with a trip to Sapa and another to Halong Bay very good and value money (on board the opera cruise and sapa boutique hotel and home stay very friendly ) . The Hotel was extremely well located and very comfortable (it even has a computer in the rooms for personal use). Rooms are generous […] in size - we stayed in rooms 201, 601 at different times, and all have modern furniture and fixtures. Bathrooms are very modern and stylish, have bathtub . Fresh fruit in your room each day was also a nice touch. However, the thing that made the place, and our time there, so special was the staff and the service they provided !!! We have travelled to a number of countries both in SEA as well as America and Europe, but have never experienced such a welcoming, supportive and knowledgeable group of people staffing a Hotel. They were truly fantastic ! william in particular, went out of his way to assist with arranging our trips and giving his advice on any number of questions that we asked over the 10 days. He speaks excellent English and we could not fault him on anything he recommended ( big cheer for william ) . The girl behind the reception desk, the wait staff, girl in the kitchen and all the other staff also were great to deal with and we appreciated the little things they did for us, often without us asking. This type of personal service is rare in a Hotel in a city as large as Hanoi, but we found the splendid star a wonderful place to stay and really recommend it to anyone looking to stay in the old quarter of Hanoi. The Hotel is in a small alley in the Old Quarter of the city. The hotel was super clean. The room, while small, was very comfortable and complete with all the necessary amenities. All the staff members go the extra mile to make your stay comfortable. Their English is good, they are ready with a smile, and make you feel very welcome. The rooms are modern, clean, functional.
