Le Stanze del Vicere' - Napoli

The hotel was very nice. It takes up just one floor (top floor, I think) in a three or four-story building and it has just a few rooms - maybe six or so. Not sure. The hotel has a very nice, expensive feel to it. Everything is very nice - the bed, the fixtures, showers (although in our shower the water did not drain fast enough), etc. Complimentary […] breakfast is nice as well. Hotel manager was very courteous and helpful. We had asked him for directions around town and he spent quite a bit of time looking over the map and recommending places to go. Very helpful. My only real concern would be the overall hotel location. The hotel is tucked away further away from the bigger, busier, and cleaner streets, and at times it appeared to be a little unsafe to us. Not sure whether this is fair or not simply because I don't know Napoli and I don't know where it is safe to go and where one should not go. But on our way to hotel (from the train station) we seemed to have passed some very questionable neighborhoods. Overall, now that I know a different way to/from hotel, I know how I would avoid the 'questionable' route. The hotel is very nice, and it is easy to get to the main streets/piazzas from it (10-15 min walk-time) - just be sure to understand where it is located, and where you will be going to and coming from. I stayed at Vicere for a few nights and couldn't have been more pleased with this hotel. The rooms are huge, quiet, and spotless. The host is extremely helpful and accommodating--above and beyond what you would normally experience. I felt that the neighborhood was safe, even when walking around late at night. Stayed in Vicere for four nights in Jan. Staff is very present and helpful. Rooms are spotless and large -- bathrooms are huge and have nice fixtures. I slept well and the room was very quiet, the bed very comfortable. Breakfast room is gigantic and has beautiful frescoes on the ceiling. Note: no elevator. For the price, this is an amazing bargain. […] I would recommend it to anyone, esp. travelers who want to spend a lot of time at the Museo Archeologico and the Museo di Capodimonte. There are plenty of busses that go up and down the hill for Capodimonte. Pizzeria Starita nearby is a must. Don't even think of skipping it (you may have to wait in line; it's worth it). Naples is the most beautiful city in Italy and Vicere is a good place from which to get to know it. Les mer

We had a delightful time in Naples thanks to the Stanze del Vicere'. The rooms are large and clean and modern, with luxurious appointments. They are all different, and as we were given a choice, we went for the extra-long jacuzzi tub - heaven after a long day touring or travelling. Max was a truly charming and memorable host, full of hearty welcome, […] stories and tips. He made us fresh-squeezed orange juice from the orange trees in the garden for our breakfast, and always checked to be sure we had enough coffee to face the day with. An internet-connected computer is at the disposal of guests with no extra charge, which was very helpful for us, as we were not carrying a computer and most hotels are going wi-fi hookups only these days. . The pictures shown in the internet ad really do represent the appearance of the rooms. I would second the warning of one of the other reviewers and recommend that people approach the hotel, after getting off at the Cavour subway staton, by walking to Teresa degli Scalzi, turn up that street and enter via Stella from that end. We did the opposite, entering via Stella from Piazza Cavour, towards twilight. On the map, it looked closer that way. Quite the scary experience, walking luggage up a very long, dark, extremely narrow, winding cobbled hillside street with no sidewalks or street illumination. All the sideways-parked scooters force you into the street proper as zillions of other scooters and cars whizz by in both directions on a one-way street. In contrast, Teresa degli Scalzi is an avenue with broad sidewalks, and the hotel is near this end, so it is a much better approach with luggage. If you arrive at night, you might need a flashlight to see the numbering on the houses and to find the correct bell to ring on the gate where the hotel is located. Les mer

My wife and I chose this hotel based on other recommendations from this web site. While in the hotel, we felt safe. The host was very accommodating, directing us to good restaurants and sights to see. He even allowed us to change rooms after the first night. A larger room opened and there was a problem with the tub in the original room. The only downside […] is the neighborhood-not the best part of town. The streets were too narrow for our rented tour guide to drive up, local drivers are a bit crazy, but that is common in Naples. Street noises were noticable throughout the night, even in the interior room. We chose not to stay out much after dark as the crime rate is fairly high if you look like a tourist. The hotel is also on the 3rd floor and I was not informed of an elevator. Over all, it was pretty descent experience if you like walking and observing the local scenes and people. Les mer

Don't be shocked by the apearance of the front of the hotel. It appears that you would not want to stay there. However it is a real jem when you get inside. It is a very wonderful hotel.. Max is also a jem. He met us at the front gate of the hoteland is a wealth of information about Naples. An excellent hotel, well located for all the local sights (if wanting to stay near old town - 5 mins walk, about 20 minutes walk to port). Lovely historic building in friendly neighbourhood. This was a very pleasant hotel to stay in. The owner Maxime was a gentleman and he wa extremely helpful. The accomodations were superb. We were very happly with the experience and we would recommend it to anybody.

Napoli in general is very run down, loud, authentic, almost no one speaks anything other than Italian. The hotel is walking distance to cavour stop, the uphill walk with luggage or even without was rediculous, recommend using the main street that has the Archeological museum and the turning a right on stella than turning right on stella from cavour […] piazza. I think maybe an accomodation closer to the waterfront would have been nicer, but this waslkign distance to almost all attractions in Napoli including the famous museum. The building outside along with the area is extremely run down but inside the hotel is modern, very clean and the nciest room I have stayed in in Italy so far. The owner is very friendly. Overall, recommend it. Les mer

We really enjoyed our stay. Maxim was very welcoming and helpful and the hotel was beautiful and in a good location-quiet but near metro and walking distance to the city centre.

Fantastic, friendly hotel although you have to be eagle eyed to spot it!

Don't let the exterior put you off in any way, this is a great boutique hotel in the crazy world on Naples. The driving has to be seen to be believed!!! Maxim is a great host, who will keep you entertained. Located close to the museum Archaelogico, but the walk with your cases from Metro Piazza Cavour is up a steep hill, we would have taken a taxi from […] the main station had we known. Overall a great experience, the rooms are fabulous, we had a huge bathroom with a double shower, and breakfast in the dining room withs it's beautiful painted ceiling was an excellent way to start the day. We only stayed one night in Naples and I found Le Stanza del Vicere to be the calm in the chaotic storm that is Naples. It was quiet. The rooms were well appointed with simple, modern, but stylish decor. The breakfast room was decorated with baroque splendor which made us feel like we were having breakfast in a Vicount's villa (which we were). There […] is even a garden out back filled with orange trees where you can relax. Maxim was very helpful in giving us tips about Naples and calling a cab to bring us to the train station. Don't let the shabbiness of the outside of the property or the building's courtyard turn you off--that seems to be the style of all of Naples. If you are mainly going to Naples to see the Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Napoli as we were, you can't ask for a better location, since it was only 4 or 5 blocks away. Les mer

Spectacularly good small hotel experience. My son and I stayed for 3 nights in June 2009. What I liked: 1. Beautiful modern and comfortable rooms with high ceilings and a view into an idyllic courtyard. 2. The hotelier, Maxime, is a prince of a man dedicated to making a wonderful experience for you. 3. Fine location from which to walk everywhere. What […] was fine for me but maybe some might not like: Only a sign outside lets you know that there is a hotel inside. The entrance is on a narrow street, and there is an old iron gate to which you will be given a key. The building itself is old, but the hotel is in perfect, new shape. You need to walk up some stairs to get to the entry of the hotel (maybe it is technically a B&B?). Maxime will help you up with your luggage. Made me feel like a local, but with a perfect luxurious place to stay. The large breakfast room is bright and cheery still decorated the way it was when the viceroy lived there. Hotellet har ett mycket diskret yttre vilket gjorde det lite svårt att lokalisera. Invändigt var det rent och snyggt. Rummet var stort med högt i tak och nyrenoverat. Hotellets ägare var mycket trevlig och hjälpsam. Hotellet är placerat på en mindre gata men ändå ganska nära den stora affärsgatan Via Toledo. Frukosten var enkel, mer åt det minimilistiska […] hållet. Sammantaget mycket prisvärt alternativ som jag kan rekommendera för ett par till tre dagars vistelse. Les mer

Je recommande vivement cet hôtel de Naples pour la qualité de son accueil et sa propreté. Le maître des lieux est charmant et disponible, toujours attentif au moindre de vos besoins. Il nous a par ailleurs indiqué d'excellentes adresses de restaurants. L'hôtel lui-même a beaucoup de cachet, (il faut aimer les vieilles pierres et les hauts plafonds, […] plus difficiles à chauffer en hiver), les chambres sont belles et fonctionnelles et le petit-déjeuner est tout à fait correct. Je recommande sans réserve cet établissement. Notez toutefois qu'il se situe au 3e étage d'un vieux bâtiment, sans ascenseur (mais bel escalier en pierre). Le quartier est parfait, il suffit de descendre une avenue pour rejoindre en 6 minutes à pied le musée national. Les mer

I en stille sidegade, ligger denne lille rolige perle, der ikke ser ud af meget ude fra, men ejeren Max venter på anden sal med gode værelser og venlig betjening. God morgenbuffet, specielt efter Italienske forhold, hvor Max serverer kaffe mm. og hjælper med ideer og råd og gerne tager en snak på engelsk om stort og småt. Tag metroen til Cavour og klem […] dig op igennem Via Stella med bagagen eller drej til højre efter Natiolnalmuseet, der ligger for enden af pladsen. Les mer

Nous avons passé un très agréable moment dans cet hotel, l'acceuil est parfait, la chambre était magnifique, très grande, confortable et calme. L'hôtel est bien situé, quelques restos simples autour et bien desservi. Le petit-déj. est copieux et dans la norme pour l'Italie, on a même eu droit à un jus d'orange frais du jardin...

Januárban hideg volt a szoba, AC fűtés van a szobában, hősugárzó a fürdőben, ami nem igazán melegítette fel a szobát, és egy idő után magától kikapcsolt, eléggé fáztunk.A reggelizőhelyen egyáltalán nincs fűtés. Aki télen utazik, illetve kora tavasszal, erre készüljön. (jelentős indok az összebújásra)

O Hotel é encantador. Não se assuste com a fachada, que é extremamente simples. O interior é encantador e o nosso Host Max foi simplesmente perfeito. Quartos bastante espaçosos e confortáveis. Pode ser um pouco complicado para chegar de Metrô se estiver com bagagem. Nesse caso, o ideal é chegar de Taxi - mas cuidado! Há muitas pessoas oferecendo Taxis […] Piratas na estação de Nápoli. Uma corrida de Taxi normal deve ficar entre EUR 15 e EUR 20. Les mer

Erittäin hieno hotelli hieman erikoisessa ympäristössä. Lähellä arkeologinen museo ja muutkin kohteet kivasti metron ulottuvilla. Kaiken kuitenkin kruunaa surullinen ja melankolinen isäntä Max. Het hotel ligt voor Napolitaanse begrippen in een rustig en schoon gebied. Het ligt tussen het geweldige archeologische museum en Capodimonte. De buurt zelf bevat (gelukkig) weinig toeristen. Hou er rekening mee dat het hotel niet heel duidelijk staat aangegeven. Slechts een klein naamplaatje bij de bel verraadt dat je er bent. De buitenkant is wellicht […] niet zo spectaculair, maar de binnenkant des te meer. Echt geweldig! Hou er ook rekening mee dat de Via Stella hobbelig en stijl is. Met baggage is het makkelijker om via de Via Santa Teresa degli Scalzi te lopen. Via openbaar vervoer is alles in Napels en omstreken goed en goedkoop te bereiken vanuit het hotel. Les mer

ロケーションはまずまずです。中央駅まで地下鉄で１駅ですが、荷物がなければ歩くこともできます。ちょっとわかりにくい場所で、タクシーのドライバーが見つけられず、結局電話で場所を聞きました。 建物はとても古く、外から見るとあまりいい印象ではないのですが、建物の中はとても綺麗です。内装や家具もいい感じです。そして十分清潔です。 この宿の特徴はなんといってもオーナーのホスピタリティではないでしょうか。英語も堪能なので、コミュニケーションにも困りません。わからないことはこのオーナーに聞けば、きっと的確なアドバイスがもらえると思います。 とても満足できる宿でした。

Naples is full of dark dank and dirty streets so dont be put off by where you are before you reach the hotel. The courtyard is old and interesting and is only an indication that the hotel is interesting but that it isnt run down. Stunning inside, very comfortable, very clean, lovely rooms. The best place Ive ever stayed out and the rooms equivalent […] to a five star hotel. If you need a kettle for the room ask for one. The owner is great and as interesting as the hotel. Das Hotel ist sehr zentral, hat einen netten Garten und ist preislich zu empfehlen. Der Frühstück ist etwas mager, aber trozdem gebe ich eine sehr Gute Bewertung.
