It was conveniently located just 30 seconds away from the highway. But that was the only good thing. Basic amenities. Ideal for business travellers or people visiting the Ridgetown Campus of the University of Guelph. The hotel is just a couple of minutes off the 401 and less than 10 minutes to the campus.

The only thing that was satisfactory about the room and the whole experience is that the room was of good size.

The room suited my needs,it was a large king size room with a sofa,chair,and ottaman,fridge,coffeepot microwave.Daily cleaning was ok but overall the hotel was grubby and the breakfast room basically unusable.I mentioned the filthy state of the sink to the desk clerk who appeared to live in a room next to the front desk,who said it was due to people […] pouring coffee down it,however I recognize ingrained dirt when I see it,to his credit it was cleaner the next day and he was as helpful as he could be. The cereal on offer was stale and I wasnt sure how old the coffee was,never did see any muffins or anything,ate breakfast in my room.Internet is available but only in certain rooms.I found a different network first after being told internet wasnt available due to a bees nest? but it disappeared the second week.The clerk let me into a room where it was available, like I said he was working with what he had.Ridgetown hotel is the only one around,but at least the 401 is available for a quick get away.There is a private restaraunt available on site but food is mediocre. Hard to believe there is a Howard Johnson sign outside this decaying motel long over due repair. Service non existent. Breakfast pitiful. Left a day early.

Wireless internet did not work for entire two-day stay. Satellite tv was stuck on the same channel whole time. There was a decomposing fly in the ice bucket. Staff were unavailable to assist with any of these things when reception was called. Have had similar experiences at this hotel in the past. There seems to be only one (friendly, hard-working) […] staff -- and he is responsible for everything (reception, cleaning rooms, continental breakfast, on-call demands). I continue to stay there because it's the most convenient (and reasonably priced) option near a work site. Les mer

The shower and drain did not work and caused a very unpleasant back up in the tub; there was a very strong offensive odour in the hallway; the carpets in the room very badly stained and dirty; however at least the sheets were clean and it looked like a newer comforter; overall would not recommend a stay and would not return; we had intially booked 2 […] nights as we were here for a tournament-but checked out before the second night even though we had already paid Les mer

The carpet is worn, but the room was clean, the bed comfy and the shower terrific. Friendly, limited breakfast but great coffee in the room. It was dog friendly which is what we needed with lots of room to walk them. for us it was just right.

While they are making improvements to the rooms themselves there were things that should be moved up on the priority list. The Ice machine wasn't working, nor was the pool available. I was told by some others staying that the hot tub was not actually hot although I didn't expect to be using the pool or hot tub. The ice machine on the other hand would […] have been greatly appreciated as there isn't a store open nearby after 9:00. Our room seemed to be recently redone (paint, tilework) and it was clean. The property the hotel resides on is unkept and unclean. The grass hasn't been cut in well over a month or more it was a mess. Huge tall weeds all over the place and the grass was so long it was ridiculous. Our refridgerator didn't work we reported it to the owner and he didn't do anything about it. He could have went to another unoccupied room and […] gave us another one but he didn't. The icemaker was broken so no ice. The pool was NOT filled with water it was empty and the jaccuzi the heater was broken. The bathroom could have been cleaner and the carpet definately needed a good cleaning. The complimentary breakfast is a joke, consisting of bagels, toast or cereal etc. Cheap tea and coffee. Pets are allowed which we were not aware of and we were awoke by the barking of a dog very early in the morning not to mention our son is allergic to dogs and cats so this place is pet friendly but not child friendly. The only staff member was the owner of the place. He did everything so there needs to be more staff on board. I must say though he was hospitible and polite. I would recommend this as a place to stay if you really need a place but if you want fancy, clean luxuary you're not going to get it here. It's a great place for a truck driver or if you just need a place for a quick nights rest but anything more forget it. I will definately never stay there again! Les mer

The price was right and the staff were very pleasant and my husband and I were very comfortable and had a good nights sleep. It wa hard to believe how quiet it wassince the hotel was full.

Adequate hotel . We stayed 2 nights.Hotel is tired looking but in the midst of some improvements. I will stay there again as it is convenient to where I visit in Ridgetown . Definately not a 5 star hotel. Breakfast with the room was disappointing. Coffee weak and watery two days in a row, Serving area was not organized to need. Sugar and cream opposite […] end of counter to the coffee. No ice machine for guests. Little choice of items to eat. Area to eat was drab and poorly furnished. But there is a restaurant attached to the hotel that has good food as well as one across the road that serves good food. Our room was clean and quiet. We had a coffee maker with no pot and no cups or coffee to brew, but room had a microwave and refrigerator. There was some construction of a hall of some sort just past our room. Workers had left the hallway strewn with boxes, tiles, garbage and drywall materials. We had to climb over it to get to the hallway leading to our room. Definately not safe and I suspect not according to fire regulations. I hope to see the place improving as I visit over the next few months. Happy that it was animal friendly and our dog was welcome. No evidence that pet owners are not doing their duty. Les mer

We were told upon checkin that breakfast was at 6 am and at 6am there was nothing--and no one would answer thye bell!!! Not happy!!

You know the saying, "you get what you pay for" but with this hotel you actually get more. I've stayed in other hotels where I have paid a lot more and got a lot less. The room was clean, comfortable and the hotel clerk was very good and efficient. I would stay there again and recommend it to other people I know.

Over all we were happy. The outside looks rough but the rooms are good value for the cost. Our room was new re-furbished and very clean. A problem this time and last time we were there was the television reception; satellite issues.

Well based on previuosly read reviews, i was a little nervous as to what to expect upon check in, It is very old and outated but we were only there to sleep.We were travelling with young kids and would have enjoyed the pool if it were in use. The room we had was somewhat dusty in certain areas but the sink and bathroom were very clean. The towels and […] bed sheets were fresh and the beds and pillows were very comfortable. This hotel is not your father's HoJo. Presumably a former generic motel which has become part of the Howard Johnson franchise. Right at the more easterly 401 Ridgetown exit, next door to a truck stop. Perfectly adequate, considering the price you're paying, which is quite modest. Decent swimming pool. Also a hot tub, but it was out of order at the time […] of our visit. We passed on the complimentary continental breakfast and enjoyed good breakfasts at the restaurant which is part of (but under separate management, apparently, from) the motel. Les mer
