La Siesta Resort & Marina - Islamorada

The resort was great. It was very peaceful there. The rooms we had were spacious, well-kept, and very comfortable. Good beds with firm mattresses, comfortable living room area, adequate kitchen with full fridge, stove & microwave. Wonderful patio outside room with lots of chairs, lounges, and table. Setting was beautiful with large pool, beach and well-maintained […] grounds. Our only complaint was the $18 per night resort fee ($20.25 with tax) that we knew nothing about. We thought everything was paid in full in advance. The fee covered a continental breakfast which was fine but nothing overly impressive and the use of fishing poles and bicycles (neither of which we used.) Would have liked knowing about this. Otherwise it was a great place and we would go back, even with the resort fee. Les mer

I really enjoyed staying at this hotel. The place was beautiful, and it has everything to offer that you could want from a hotel in the Keys. The hotel grounds are kept beautiful, it truly looks like a postcard. I would definately go there again and I am looking forward to it. Great location, outdoor areas, and service. Needs some interior updating and general maintenance.

Hotel location was fine. The only ting nice about the hotel was the pool and grounds. The pool had been redone and was very nice. We stayed in an ocean suite with king bed,this was advertised as their best room.The stove in the kitchen area was very dirty, the carpet was terrible, uneven and coming up, everthing needed to be updated and replaced. Being right on the beach was beautiful and nice to open your door and see the ocean! But the room was very outdated, had a bad smell to it, a very loud clicking AC unit and very poor housekeeping. Also, after being gone all day, we came back and realized that the housekeeper forgot to lock our sliding glass door. We didn't say anything to the manager […] since nothing was missing but yike! I unfortunately cannot recommend staying here although it has so much potential being right on the ocean! Les mer

Rooms were not very clean, furniture was very dated, beds/linens VERY uncomfortable, kitchen was very sparse, would not recommend staying here. The only redeeming factor was the setting/location. The grounds were on the ocean and nicely done. It is NOT a beach, just a large white granular area overlooking the ocean.

Beautiful resort in quiet peaceful area <3 great pool and breakfast! Kitchen didn't have a oven pan and did not get one eventhough they promised so thats the only minus ;) I warmly recomend La Siesta Resort!

Nice if u r looking 2 relax. Clean and quiet beautiful setting. Do not expect beach but a warm pool (where birds bath and poop in the afternoon). The window blinds wouldn't close so we had to cover it with a bedsheet. Not too many utensils in the kitchen and bring your toiletries

Doesn't meet the expectation. Outside was good but rooms were not up to date.

The hote and our beach cottage were in a perfect location for our key hopping. The room was very clean - great sunrise views, but it could use some updating in the bathroom and kitchen. I would definitely stay again.

Overall I like the resort, don't expect much since its a 3 star resort. I don't like the breakfast much. But I would recommend to stay there if you get a good deal.

The resort tax in this key was about a third again the price of the room. They apparently warn you of this only in your confirmation receipt.

The bad: The appliances were less then stellar and there was a lack of cooking and eating supplies. The good: everything else...large clean room nice pool, great location, service, etc. I recommend, just bring some wooden spoons and plan to grill everything if you want to cook ;-)

Never been to the keys before. Loved the quiet location. Not so far in that traffic is crazy. Pick YOUR time to go to Key West. Pool is very nice. Even though they were full at our time, there was so much space it didn't feel that way. I was so relaxed the entire time! We used the free poles: note to folks, if you are not willing to take fish off the […] hooks, this is not for you. Some of the fish had nasty sharp teeth. My husband supervised the kids, but I saw a bunch of kids fishing and catching who freaked out at the fish "reality". We never utilized the bikes. Laundry was free. Breakfast in am was decent. A lot of bread, thank heavens for the hard boiled eggs and yogurt! Didn't expect cooked food. Light and served at the pool. The hotel was just OUR speed. Not too fancy and not too downscale. Right in the middle, if not a notch up. It's only 50 rooms, so it's not a full blown upscale resort. That was ok with us. Our room and experience were fine, so I don't know how they handle problems. We had a pool view room, which actually gave us a beach view as well. Our friends stayed in a stand alone two story unit which they were very pleased with. The beach was what I had read...it's not natural, so lots of seaweed and squishy mud. We read up on that and brought boogie boards and spent lots of time at the pool. Boogie boards worked for the kids once they figured out how to get beyond the seaweed. Which was not crazy bad...just for two Midwestern kids. The sand is pulverized rock or gravel, so it's rough on the feet and pedicures! My only true complaint...the rest are not complaints is the "on site rentals" I never saw anyone there. The sign said "we are open. Call us" I wished it was just there to use. There's another resort a bit down that had a lot of quiet water items being used. Charge $10 more for the resort fee and let us kayak when we want. Les mer

Lovely resort. The bed room had 2 Queen cots and a very large kitchen with small dinning table with 4 chairs, sofa, stove, large refrigerator, basic utensils. The resort had a decent swimming pool and shore access. It is NOT a beach. It is basically for fishing and boat launch. The complimentary BF was good. There were boiled eggs, yogurts, cup cakes […] etc. Decent BF. They were giving fishing rods and cycles and charge a flat resort charge of $18. Not bad. Overall, this place is about 45 minutes from Key Largo and 90 minutes to Key West. We could drive to Key west and return back easily. We enjoyed the stay and I would recommend highly. Les mer

Stayed here overnight on the way to Key West. This property is right on the water with a wonderful view. The room we had needs new rugs badly otherwise it was very clean. Ice has to be bought by the bag at the office. We did not feel comfortable sitting on the deck as there is no barrier between the different rooms- just one long deck. No beach. Crowded pool area. Picutres look nicer. Room very old.

This is without a doubt the best facility we have stayed at. Normally we stay in KEy Largo when we do a dive trip, but due to NASCAR our usual haunts had raised their rates. La Siesta was a very pleasant surprise. We wil definately return in the future. Staff was very friendly and helpful, the rooms were clean and neat!

If you want clean and comfortable in the old style Florida style efficiency this is the place to stay. If you want new and fancy go elsewhere. Nice clean affordable rooms with well kept Ocean Front and boat ramp with nice docks on the Ocean Side.

La SIesta had great views, a nice big heated pool, nicely landscaped grounds, would go back again. Liked that the pool was open 24/7 The room was clean and freshly painted. The only downside was that the carpet was worn and the tack strip by the bathroom was pretty sharp!

Had a great time at La Siesta. I've stayed there before, but got a better value, bigger room through Hotels.com.

Our room was not what the website would suggest, although it was supposed to be a "cabana on the beach" the hotel has no beach, there is no access to bathing, and it was located on a second floor. The carpet was threadbare and bulging in places, and several tones indicated long-past replacement of sections of it. The curtains were so old that the light […] filtered through it where the fabric was threadbare. The bathroom had towels that belong on a cheap motel, and the hotel surprised us with a "resort fee" of $ 18.00 per night for access to "resort facilities" which we did not see, such as "fishing poles, bicycles, and the famously inadequate breakfast. And the Wireless connection is so slow as to be useless to download regular e-mail attachments. Overall it was a rip-off. Les mer

I had stayed there before and it was nice. This time the cottage has hot with only on small old air conditioner. The room was by the pool which allowed guest until 11p, very loud in the room. At check out there is an additionaly 20 per day. Would not return

A great location to spend vacations with the family as thre is a great pool, breakfast is includes and sufficient parking space is available. They have a own marina, so if you have a boat..great. Other activities like diving, snorceling, etc is near by and great & good rated restaurants are just around the corner. The ownly downside is the WiFi is not […] high spees, but as this should be a vacation recort, this is not a big downside. Les mer

Nice place to stay, only downside is they do not have coffee makers in rooms and no tv in bedrooms. All in all a good spot despite these tow things.

The view is great! if this place was anyplace else it would be a fraction of the cost. The mattress was like a hamock and killed our backs. The pool was full of little kids so I didn't put my toes in. The marina docks were nice and a bonus if you have a boat. Sharing a front porch is a negative with the other guest looking in our windows and taking […] all the chairs. Someone backed their jet ski trailer into our car in the parking and left without telling us. cost on that repair will be around 1K. I guess we will try someplace else next time. Les mer

If you added a Tiki Bar near the pool area, and one down by the beach where guests could order drinks, and listen to Island music, that would be a win win for the hotel. The water sports company that offers the use of Kayak,s and Jet skis is very expensive... The docks and use of fishing poles was great. Pool area in nice... Booked as an overnight to R&R after driving from Miami to Key West with the family. Perfect destination to break up the drive down US-1 and spend some downtime for couples or with a family. Not good for socializing, but that's what we needed and expected. It's isolated, so make sure you do your grocery and liquor run down the street, as we had the […] suite with kitchenette. After that, you can have a run of the 24-hour pool and sit on pier or cabana. Or just veg out with a book on one of the half dozen hammocks by the water. The resort fee includes bicycle rental, I believe, but we did not use that, as I don't imagine it ideal for riding a bike down US-1. One night, we even got carry out, brought it to the pool and had a late meal and swim in the lit pool and jacuzzi. It was very peaceful and everyone in my family got to engage in whatever activity they desired in our 24 hour stay: sleeping, swimming, reading by water, walking on man-made beach or relaxing in the jacuzzi. We stayed three nights. Room was not fancy but was clean and comfortable. Seemed to be a very safe area. Hotel grounds were exceptionally nicely kept. The pool was beautiful and perfect temperature in March. Hot tub felt good in the cool evenings. Wonderful ocean-side location in the middle-Keys. Free breakfast by the pool was a lovely treat each morning […] (cereal, muffins, bagels, fruit, etc. with coffee, juice and milk). Kitchen in the room saved us money on a couple of meals, but there were also good restaurants nearby. Friendly staff. It was a pleasure! I hope to return to this resort for a longer stay in the future. Les mer

Everything was GREAT! If one thing could be improved it would be that the dishes provided were also microwave safe. We nearly burned our hands reheating a pizza. Otherwise a perfect 3 days in paradise.

The hotel was in a great location. Walking distance to many places to eat and a quick drive to tons of stuff to see. I recommend the Green Turtle for dinner and make a right out of the parking lot and head to The Theater of the Sea. I rented a beach cottage that was basically a studio apt. The bed was terrible and the bathroom really needs a facelift. […] Other than that the hammock was a bonus for mid afternoon naps and manatee swam right up to the docks. Great place to stay for a week of scuba diving or fishing. Resort's grounds are manicured and well maintained with plenty of palm trees. Nice pool area, but not a real beach like we're used to in New Jersey. Guest rooms are very clean, some need updating. Met guests who return year after year, as we will next year.

An older property with a great location. If the resort were busy, the pool would probably be too small. Our room had a partial view of the water and was in an older building and not remodeled - Be sure to ask for a renovated room - I asked to see other rooms/buildings on the property. We would have liked a bar area at the pool.

The hotel had great grounds with pool, beach and docks. Very limited wifi and the staff did not have any fix for it. The room was dated and not as clean as expected. The woman at the front desk at check in and all week was the worse customer service person and really needs to find a job away from people.

Beautiful resort, wonderful atmosphere. No swimming, and nearest beach is 7 miles away and not so nice. 2BR 2 storey apt was nice, clean, but could use updating. Great family place. Beware resort fees - they will try to charge extra on check out.

Got what I expected. An hour and a half from Key West but if you dont need the action there, this is a good spot. Got a quick education that a "Key's Beach" is not a beach but crushed coral as landscaping. The pool and grounds are very clean and the breakfast is OK. The room was fine but dont expect up-to-date amenities. Some (overpriced) restaurant […] varieties are within a 15 min drive and if you want to Kayak, we enjoyed Randy's which was close by! Les mer
