Place was great and I look forward to staying there more. I will be working in the area for the next year or 2 every week. Very difficult to reach this hotel, one of the primary roads leading to the hotel was closed. Also, the neighborhood was less than ideal. Room was very nice once we finally got to it.

I rate this hotel as a 5 star hotel everything was so so beautifully decorated.

We have stayed in the Hammond area many times, but always out by the highway, 25 minutes away. We ventured to the Ameristar Hotel and Casino and what a great surprise. The ENTIRE stay was Outstanding. Very clean room, lobby and the staff was beyond friendly and helpful. We can not wait to come back and this will be on top of our stay list.

Very impressed with the warm modern look and feel of this hotel. Made me feel like I was in Vegas. Dinner at hotel was excellent, but very expensive. Have gone back twice again to stay, very inviting!

We wanted a mini-getaway and this hotel was perfect! The room was gorgeous and the staff was very helpful and friendly.

This is a very nice hotel. Beware it is located in a very remote area. Regardless, I would definitely stay there again when in the area. The rooms are luxurious and the service provided was great. Secured access to you floor was an unexpected benefit.

I could not believe my room. Very spacious, clean, excellent TV. My room rivaled the one that I stayed in at the Cosmopolitan in Vegas this summer. As for the staff, great people! Everyone was very friendly and trying to make my stay even more enjoyable, special kudos to James Bond the vallet (yep, that is his name). Casino on property as well as very close to the even bigger and in my opinion nicer Horseshoe Casino. Hotel is tucked in along lake Michigan and an industrial area but very close to casino's. Rooms are huge and like new, would stay there again in a minute.

I've stayed here a few times. It's a nice place and has restaurants on site. No breakfast served during the week and no room service only draw backs.

I must say for a casino hotel the service was great. But I couldn't understand the cheap showerhead that was absolutely terrible or the cruddy grout job in the bathroom. Everything was so nice but the details were lacking. The Sat breakfast buffet was good but lunch was terrible. Oh and please turn down that band that plays in the courtyard. Way too […] loud! Overall everything was great at the Ameristar East Chicago Hotel. Road construction made it difficult to get back to Chicago, and detour signs were a bit confusing. I would definitely come again.

This is a simply stunning hotel. The King room we stayed in was absolutely beautiful and completely romantic. There is track lighting directly over the bed, which made quite a statement upon entering the room. My favorite feature of this room was the bathroom. Not only is the marble flooring in the entryway and the bathroom absolutely beautiful, the […] bathroom itself was beautiful. It had a separate shower and tub and the tub was big enough for two. Even the toiletries in the room were awesome-they smelled good and you can use the shower gel as bubble bath. I messed up my reservation, making it for a night after the night I was supposed to arrive, without realizing it. The evening front desk manager was absolutely amazing-he called Hotels.com to get it fixed for me. The staff was just so nice and accomodating; they allowed me to leave an extra key at the desk for my husband, they gave us extra blankets, toothpaste (we forgot ours) and made sure we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. I had to call the front desk to get directions on the way there and the lady I spoke with stayed on the phone with me until I pulled up to the hotel to make sure I made it safely-I've never had a hotel employee do that before. My only complaint is that the hotel does not offer room service. There are a few places to eat within the hotel, though; you just can't laze around your room-you have to go get it. We did not go to the casino, although, both nights it was very busy. You don't have to worry about non-guests coming to your room because you must use your hotel key to get to each floor. There isn't much in the way of a "surrounding area", as it's pretty secluded-that just meant more quiet time, though! Absolutely beautiful hotel and we will definitely stay here again. One piece of advice: call ahead of time and get their physical address to use in your GPS. The address on their site is the mailing address and GPS can't find it. Les mer

We drove from New Jersey and we needed to find a place to stay near Chicago so that we could pick up our daughter from college. Previously we had stayed in the city, but it was expensive and the hotel was not very nice. Ameristar Casino Hotel was beautiful, located only a short drive to the city, and was much less expensive than staying in town. Very pleased with the quality of this full service hotel. We wanted a comfortable place to stay before our triathlon. This exceeded our expectations-spacious and higher end amenities. It would have been perfect if it had a refrigerator and a 1:00 check out. The bell and valet staff were extremely friendly. This hotel/casino was located in an area that is not really fit for human beings unless they are paid to be there. Steel mills in every direction surround this facility.

This hotel was very comfortable and the room was clean and large. The night tables were a bit worn, but overall a very nice room. The restaurants had decent service and the wait staff was friendly. Hotel staff in general were very friendly. The area is very industrial and seemingly depressed urban, but not too bad in the immediate vicinity of the hotel. […] There is a steel mill just a few blocks away, but this does not have a great affect. The hotel is beatiful. If it wasn't for the fact that it sits in the middle of some kind of industrial mess, one would think they were at a glamorous Vegas casino. We were in town for a concert, so a nice room, some gambling and a show made for a fun weekend. My husband and I chose this hotel on a whim. We were hoping that the hotel was half as good as the reviews, we were pleasantly surprised to see that it was all that and more. The location is not great but the hotel staff and the casino staff 's friendliness made up for the location. My husband and I stayed at the hotel after we drove my daughter down from Gurnee for an admissions interview with Purdue. This hotel was close to my work location. The hotel provide my wife with thing to do while I was at work. The food at the hotel was great.

When we arrived with our 2 young children at 9 pm we were told guest under 21 were not admitted in the hotel. When I had secured the reservation I had the two children listed in the reservation. A great place to get away without actually travelling far to get away. Hotel looked very nice as we drove up, the hotel garage adjacent and was clean and well-lit. The hotel and lobby areas were also very nice, clean and contemporary. The staff was polite at check-in, though a little slow to register the two couples in line ahead of us, and then took […] a phone call before registering us. Other than that other staff we encountered was quite helpful and courteous. The room was spacious and more luxurious than we anticipated. Maybe an upgrade to flat panel tv's in the room would be the only thing I would suggest. The bathroom and entrance was laid out in marble and the bathroom itself was large and very clean. We're not really gamblers but we did have fun playing the slots. The only other gripe I have was at breakfast, where the staff just plain wasnt around when we walked into the bar and grill restaurant the next morning. There were other guests seated in the area we preferred to sit but no staff around to greet or seat us. And once seated no one came up to us, so I had to get up and find someone. We also commented to ourselves on the disappointment of no weekday breakfast buffet. The dinner buffet though was delicious. All in all we would recommend the Ameristar for its great location and great rooms, and good but spotty service. Les mer

Check In was easy and fast; as it should be! My small children were treated as special guests instead of hindrances, and the room was spacious and clean. Hotel staff (bell staff, valet staff, front desk) were all friendly and helpful. As a mom travelling with two small children, these are all the things I look for when our whole family isn't travelling […] together! I need extra hands and a little help sometimes, and Ameristar definitely provided all of that! HIGHLY recommended!! Les mer

My sister did not like the fact there was not a non-smoking area in the casino. Other than a slight problem with the shower (for which we were compensated) our stay at the hotel was great. The staff was very courteous and accomodating. Thank you.

It is a nice hotel. Clean, large rooms, The room was quiet with a surprisingly nice view of the steel mill and the lake. The bath was simply huge! I wish I had it at home. The Casino is large and varied. Too bad the beach next door is not known for its safe water.

Our room was beautiful and had the lights on when we arrived. We were quite impressed with how clean everything was. The hotel staff always greeted us with a friendly hello and we would definitely stay there again.

Nice hotel, front desk staff not very friendly or courteous. If you have more than two people in your group, you may want to bring along an air mattress as you are not allowed to have a cot in a double room (room was big enought so not sure why you could not).

The hotel was a little tough to get to because of the road construction but once there it is super! Great rooms, very updated and large. You don't need to go anywhere once you get there with all the restaurants and shops in the hotel. The only downside is that there is no room-service.

I work in the mattress industry and am picky about my bed so to say. The linens and mattress were great. Loved the seperate shower and tub!

I loved the room, Hubby and I just wanted to get away for a night. It was very clean and the bed was very comfy..would definantly go again!!
