Her fikk vi et stort rom, rent og pent. Sengen madrass er alltid fast, les hardt! Men alt annet var perfekt. Dusjen, utsikt, beligenhet, konfort og pris var bra for kvaliteten. Frokost var ikke den best vi har smakt på i Sicilia, men slett ikke dårlig, bare vannlig og begrenset. Her er det greit med parkering mot ekstra avgift og det er nødvendig i travelt Palermo hvor det er umulig å få parkert bilen. Man kan ta buss også til sentrum i nærheten, eller spasere til butikkene som ligger nær. Selv om hotel er sentralt, slipper man her å bo midt i byen, hvor det er for mye trafikken og skitne gater. Personalet snakket nok engelsk, bortsett fra et par yngre damene på resepsjonen som var mindre hjelpsom selv på italiensk. Vi har bodd i 3 forskjellige hoteler i Palermo, og denne kunne jeg tenke å komme tilbake til. Det anbefales til familier, og eldre par også, siden den ligger i nærheten av en grønn areal og er roligere enn sentrums hoteler.

Hotellet ligger midt i Palermos historiske bydel, 10 minutters gange fra Quattro Canti og tilsvarende fra strandpromenaden. Det er kort avstand til gode restauranter, shopping, markeder, kommunikasjon og byens severdigheter. Hotellet fremstår som nyoppusset og med god standard i en historisk bygning. God og variert frokost. Når vi bestilte gjennom hotels.com fikk vi inntrykk av at rommet hadde balkong (etter norsk standard). Dette stemte ikke. Rommet hadde fransk vindu mot en trang bakgård og glasset heissjakt. Når vi påpekte dette, oppgraderte de til et rom med balkong mot gaten dagen etter - uten ekstra kostnad.

Al Baglio b&b ligger svært sentralt, men alikevel langt nok borte til at støy fra nærlilggende restauranter og annet uteliv ikke generer! De ansatte er svært hyggelige og serviceinnstilte! Vi hadde et upåklagelig opphold i Mondello, som virkelig er et vakkert sted! Kan varmt anbefale et opphold her (med mindre man er svært kresen på frokosten, ikke noe grovbrød og leverpostei, for å si det sånn.)

Pent og rent hotell. Vi benyttet det kun for overnatting før vi skulle videre sydvest på Sicilia. Vi ønsket oss litt mat v 21 tiden da vi kom med fly fra Norge. Vi er vant til at det serveres mat fra kl 20/21 på Sicilia. Her var buffeen stengt kl 21. Maten var heller ikke mye å skryte av. Frokosten var også lite å trakte etter.

Sicilias hovedstad ligger ved en buet bukt ved foten av Monte Pellegrino. Den er en kaotisk, overstrømmende by med masse å se. Dokketeater, gatemarkeder og marsipanfrukt er vanlige godbiter i Palermo. Få oversikt ved et større kryss, Quattro Canti. Ikke gå glipp av de fantastiske mosaikkene i Cappella Palatina eller Serpottas stukkoarbeid i byens kirker. De mumifiserte likene i Capuchin-katakombene er sånt som mareritt blir til av.

"Garibaldi"
Et veldig bra hotell, og mye for prisen. Dersom du kommer med bil - ha med gps, for det er vanskelig å finne uten. Gratis parkering, selv om de selv kjørte og hentet bilen på grunn av full egen parkering. God frokost. Fordel med rom over gateplan

"Superb Hotel"
Stayed at det hotel for one week... It`s a superb nice and cleaned hotel in very nice environment. i would choose this hotel again.
"Fint, sentralt hotell"
Vi bodde på tremannsrom i toppetasjen, stort, lyst, rent og fint, og med veldig stort bad med separat dusj og bade/boblekar. Balkong ut mot gaten. Hotellet er bare et par år gammelt, det ligger svært sentralt og personalet snakker engelsk. Bra frokost og god plass i spisesalen.

"Comfortable, helpful, and a great breakfast"
We enjoyed this hotel. Parking was very reasonable, and the room was comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and very abundant. Most importantly, staff was courteous and helpful, and went way out of their way to answer our questions and support our travels.
Great value. Was clean and definitely 4 stars by international standards. Breakfast buffet was good, surrounding area is not near sightseeing but there is great shopping in the area. A major bus stop is nearby. Would definitely stay there again.

"Americans inj Palermo."
Personally, my wife and I loved this hotel. Excellent, friendly, helpful service. Room was clean. Internet was easy to access (Cost is 5 Euro for 24 hours). Location seemed to be within short walking distance to everything we were interested in. The breakfast was excellent every morning. "Lovely hotel"
We had a wonderful stay at the hotel, and the reasonably priced parking was a life-saver. The free breakfast buffet was terrific. Staff members were courteous and helpful. I wholeheartedly recommend this hotel.
"Hotel Garabaldi"
The hotel is very nice but there were two small things I did not like. The lobby is below ground so you have to take the bags down stairs. The other thing is they charge for the internet 10 Euro for three days, on this trip I stayed in 7 hotels and they were the ONLY one who charged for internet.
"efficient and practical hotel, excellent breakfast"
This hotel does everything a hotel should do. We stayed seven nights and had no complaints. Good-sized and modern bathroom although the room was a bit small. Great breakfast - fried eggs, bacon, custard-cream pastries, fresh rolls etc.etc. Hotel is perfectly located for airport bus and city sightseeing/Monreale bus and Spinnato Antico Caffè (where the […] cakes are to die for). But it's a long trek up and down the Via Maqueda or Via Roma each time to the more atmospheric parts of the city and the more interesting eateries . We managed to park our car in the hotel, but it does get busy in the peak periods. Overall, we would recommend this hotel - it's not a cheap option, but you get what you pay for. Les mer

The Garibaldi whilst not luxury is extremely adequate and the staff very helpful. The location was excellent - plenty of bars and restaurants around, shopping and the sightseeing bus stops right outside the hotel. The pullman from the airport is 2 minutes across the square and busy route to the beach within abut 5 mins walk. I would have no hesitation […] is returning - great value for money. "Great location - poor service - dirty toilet"
This feels more like a youth hostel than a 4 star hotel. But the location is great. Breakfast served orange juice in plastic cups rather than glasses - and the basement rooms are very bare - which is what gives it the hostel feeling. The hotel was close to the city centre with lots of shopping around. There is no view, bt most business otels do not have views. The room was nice and clean. The bathroom was very good. The airconditioning did not work initially but when raised to the reception was switcehd on and worked fairly well afterwards. Breakfast was decent continental affair. […] Overall a good stay. The hotel feels like being in a hospital. It's a depressing place, uncomfortable beds dreary surroundings. Internet did not work in the room. The curtains looked dirty, the room was uncomfortable.

They would only recommend 2 restaurants which was odd. The room was big. The bahroom was a trip and fall hazard though. They need a grab bar in the shower. WiFi was too expensive.

Really nice hotel situated near the middle of Palermo and half a block from the airport shuttle bus stop. The room was very large and well appointed. Breakfast was pretty fantastic and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

The Hotel Garibaldi is located a comfortable walk from the harbor and conveniently located on several bus lines. Even though we had called ahead to let the hotel staff know we were arriving on a 6:30 am ferry, we did not expect to be able to check into our room at 7 am. But the staff found one for us (it helps to travel during the off-season!) and let […] us check in right away. This was a wonderful way to rest and freshen up before going out to enjoy the city. I concur that a street-side room is somewhat loud, but I was pleased with the visible security cameras and the desk clerk watching all of them. Since we had an unfortunate incident in Rome with a person scaling two stories in an attempt to enter our room through a window, the security at Hotel Garibaldi made me feel better. The front desk staff were always helpful and gave good advice about buses, including the airport bus. A good map of the city is provided right at the front desk, and the gentleman we queried knew the main bus lines by heart. You may be told there is a fee to use the Wi-Fi, but if you book through Hotels.com (looks like Expedia at the hotel end) they will honor the promise of free usage. They may need to be reminded. Our only complaint at all, and it is extremely minor, is that the chambermaid failed to replenish the tea service in our room each day. After the first day, we requested more tea, which was provided, but the next day when we asked the new desk clerk for teabags, she was uncertain what we meant (translation issue, I'm sure) and we gave up. I think this only stood out to us because every other aspect of the hotel and its service were spot on. This one little detail seemed a strange thing to overlook. Recommended with only the caveat that the outside rooms are noisy during the day. An inside room is perfect. Mine was large, immaculately clean, and spacious. We opted for the Hotel Garibaldi based the many positive reviews and was not at all disappointed! They arranged a 50 Euro airport transfer for us, which solved the issue of finding the hotel. While the front of the hotel does not appear on the Google map, the Teatro Politeamo does; it is huge, directly across the street and therefore makes finding […] the hotel a breeze.The entrance of the Hotel Garibaldi is down a very gradual flight of stairs, not at all a problem with large luggage (once in side, there is an elevator). We rented a car (had a good map) and found the driving to be no worse than any large American city, and free parking a great plus! The rest of the time we walked around Palermo and never felt unsafe. Most of the staff spoke english and were very helpful. The breakfast is extensive by anyone''s standards: eggs, sausages fruit, cereals, juices and a multitude of pastries, cakes and breads. Our rooms and bathrooms were clean, contemporary & spacious, also had a well stocked mini-bar and computer accessibility. We would definitely recommend the Hotel Garibalsi. Les mer

This is an excellent choice for visiting Palermo. Although the hotel is quite well hidden away ( a larger sign would help!) it has its own car park which is a real bonus in this city, where driving is a nightmare. It means you can leave the car and go on foot to visit the many sights. The breakfasts were delicious - excellent and continuous buffet and […] cappuccinos - and the rooms well appointed and clean. "Give it a go - good spot in Palermo"
In a really convenient spot - about 10 minutes walk to the Theatre Massimo area and very near the main shopping streets. The room was comfortable and modern with good bathroom. A relaxing little haven after the hectic bustle of Palermo streets. We had a room at the back of the hotel - so no road noise at all. Reception staff were efficient, but a […] little surly - maybe could be a bit more welcoming. If you get the bus from the airport and get out just as it turns left off the main road, down the side of the large main squares, then you're almost right at the hotel entrance. It has a great location which is convenient for the airport bus and many attractions. The breakfast was good with a lot of choices, and the room was modern, clean, and very comfortable. This was one of the best hotels on the trip.

The hotel was quite modern, very comfortable and clean. They served a very nice breakfast and the staff was pleasant. The only downfall of the hotel is it is on a very busy, noisy street. We would recommend this hotel if the visitors would not mind the noise.I
"Excelent Palermo hotel"
My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights in September. While a little out of the historic district it is well positioned for touring Palermo. The staff were wonderful in resolving several issues that arose and I thank them for their efforts. Breakfast was plentiful and the staff kept the breakfast stocked through the morning. The rooms are quite nice […] and modern. One thing, the rooms facing the entrance are on the side of a movie theater next door. If the theater is playing an action movie you may be disturbed by the noise. Ask for a rear facing room for quiet.. Les mer

My husband and I stayed at the hotel for two nights. We booked the special offer for the superior room. IT WAS AWESOME! The room was so big that we almost lost each other :) Seriously, the room was clean,a very big bathroom, comfortable beds... the most important thing is that it has a free private parkling lot, and it's safe. July, 2010. My wife, two sons & I stayed here for two nights at the start of July. The stay was at the end of a week long vacation in Sicily, having spent the previous 5 days in the Trapani / Marsala area. Overall we were very satisfied with everything. The only difficulty we had was finding the hotel. We were driving a rental car, and had looked up […] the general location of the hotel. We didn't have a satnav. I expected to find signposts for the hotel as I got closer, but didn't see any. (There were signposts for many other of the hotels in the area.) Some main points: + Reception staff very friendly and helpful. Very good suggestions for suitable, convenient restaurants. +The hotel is very clean and well maintained. + Nice buffet breakfast was included. + An ideal base for exploring Palermo. + The free car park was very useful. FYI, car park space at the hotel itself is limited. you give your keys to the hotel, and they have a valet move the car to a local car park. - You have to pay for internet connection in your room. "A gem of a hotel in Palmero"
The Hotel Garibaldi was the highlight of our stay in Palmero. We were disappointed with the city but the quality of the hotel made the difference. The hotel is opposite the Poliatana Theatre and located just between the old and new towns. This makes it a perfect base for sight seeing on foot. Stayed at the hotel for 3 nights during June. The hotel is located centrally in a relatively safe area. Good access to shops, sights and supermarket. Hotel has a private car park which is a HUGE plus in a city where parking is v.v. difficult. Rooms were modern and some may consider this a bit characterless. Cons: There is significant music noise from […] the opera house across the road. Bathrooms do not have very good extractor fans. These are minor niggles that ear plugs will easily solve. We loved this hotel, great design, huge bed, all fab, and very central. It was just a shame we were so foxed by Palermo's one way system that we didn't arrive as early as we'd hoped to enjoy our one and only night there.
"Great hotel and location"
This is a very nice hotel in an excellent location. Our room was spotlessly clean and well furnished. Breakfast is excellent and if they provided milk with the tea and coffee in the rooms it would be perfect. Take your own if you need it. Restaurants and most sights are within an easy walk. The parking is a very important feature if you have a car.
"quality at a good price"
The Garibaldi has been converted from an old building into a very comfortable hotel inside. Our room was large with huge beds and everything we needed. Only minor complaint was that the original windows had not been painted when the conversion was done, so looked tatty. The internet service in the room was free but I had to ask for a userid and password […] for each 24 hour period. Why not offer it on arrival for the whole of the stay? It was difficult to find as the entrance is down the side of the hotel in the basement. There is only a small sign and that was not visible from the direction we were walking. The airport bus is convenient but you still have to know where the hotel is. The staff were helpful as are other locals in Palermo.We will return and to this hotel if the price is just as good.
