We always stay at this hotel not only because it is very affordable but clean, friendly and very well situated. It is close to Anna Salai (Mount Road) and a short distance from the marina beach. They have a sumptous breakfast spread which is included in the room tariff. Excellent deal.

My wife and I stayed in this hotel for 20 days. Excellent location for everything you want to do in Chennai. Appearance and ambiance were good. Room for some reason is too cold. The thermostat says 25 degree celsius but room feels like 18. Washroom and entrance doors are in poor shape and needs an overhaul. Smells of urine all the time even if I spray […] Febreze and leave it unused for a whole day. Very friendly staff. Breakfast; good choices. Indian clientele need to learn 'how to use the buffet'. Very bad manners. Waiters and others are good. Seem to pay more attention to European people. Cleaning staff were the best. My room was clean and everyday we were presented with beautiful art work in towel. We also got a bouquet from the cleaning staff for Valentine's day. Great people. I would rate a 10 for the people. Unfortunately, everyone is looking for tips. There is a 10% service charge and I hope the staff is benefitting from this charge. For the rate I paid I expect a better room. Les mer

Hotel was nice though loud in the night. The buffet breakfast was fabulous.

The hotel was located at a central place. The hotel restaurant was good but the service is not comparable to other similar rated international hotels outside india. The internet service drops multiple times in the room. The room cleaning service is really bad as the people who pick the phones are not service oriented and do not keep their words.

For people visiting the US embassy for their visa needs this is a convenient location. The breakfast provided in the morning was very good. The room was clean but a little outdated. For some reason the internet connectivity wasnt that great. Overall a decent stay for a business trip.

The Hotel is in very good neighbourhood, well known. Only the hotel personel were incapable to run the institution properly. The Duty Managers are are not efficient or responsible. Specially Javed and Sunder. Kept me waiting half an hour to get my left Cell phone charger. The Resident Manager Ms.Vanitha Laurdes was co-oprative and helped me out to stay […] a night more. I am a Travel Agent and this was my first travel to Asia, so I was new to the culture. However, I was very satisfied by the service received at the Savera. From the entrance at the front door to requests for laundry or toilet paper, attendants were quick to the delivery. I am used to Western Civilization or tourist islands or European tourists surroundings. […] Chennai is not like that. But once you enter inside, you wouldn't know that. we checked in on 10th Jan and it was one of worst night in any hotel spent by me and my wife in last 25 years. there were lot of disturbances and noises from side and top rooms. some renovation work was going on using drilling machine, hammer and cutter right from the time of checking time till we checkout out next day. They did not stop night time […] also in spite of twice complaints. Les mer

Rooms I stayed in or was shown either needed renovation or repair. Afew I refused to stay and had to ask for alternate which were barely passable. In one floor no corridor lights stayed on one half of the floor and stayed pitch dark. Upon several complaints the problem was taken care of. This hotel is fairly close to the consulate- 40 rupees away. We got a non- smoking room that smelt of smoke with an ash tray and matches which i found funny. We wanted an extra bed for the third person but only got a mattress which i was later told was the norm. The restroom builds up water quickly and smells but i later learnt that was normal. The […] restaurants malgudi and minar were very gud and room service was convenient. Overall pretty gud by indian standards. Recommended. Les mer

Booked for a bit of luxury in India after travelling the world for 6 months. Good location and some of the staff helpful. Booked because of the pool but there was a lot of renovation going on which spoilt the atmosphere do didn't use it! Room was clean and comfortable if not a little tatty and dated. Restaurants were very nice. Especially Fondue. Ordered […] food at lobby cafe and order was wrong. Breakfast buffet service was awefull. Dirty plates left around, cold food etc. Wouldnt recommend as it didn't deliver the service and facilities of a 4 star hotel. Les mer

This place was very nice. Took the deluxe room and I was really excited to be in Chennai at this hotel after a bad experience at another place.

This hotel doesn't maintain the infrastructure. The floors are damaged and the carpet in the corridors appears to have never been cleaned. That bathrooms aren't maintained well. It's an OLD building and is not maintained. The restaurants in the hotel are gonna burn a hole in your wallet. But the staff service is good.

Great hotel to stay with a great complimentary breakfast. Only negative - the shower did not drain.

Please do not be fooled by it's 4-star rating. The hotel may appear as a grand edifice externally, but the rooms are horrible. The ceiling boards were moldy and peeling. The bathroom doors were equally bad. To add on to that, the water temperature in the shower cannot be modulated! It's either you scald in boiling water, or freeze in the cold water. […] Took us almost 45 mins each to complete our shower. The bed sheets had dodgy looking stains and the room stank of cigarette smoke. The worst bit was when the maintenance crew shut down ALL the lifts in the hotel to carry out some checks! How unbelievable! And that too on the day of our departure! ALL lifts in the hotel were unserviceable for a good 20-30 mins. Imagine if a customer on the 10th floor suffers a cardiac arrest and the paramedics can't get him/her to the hospital on time because the lifts were down! Les mer

The hotel was quite pricey for India, however, we booked late and this may have been the reason. The location was fine for Chennai. The hotel offers a lot .....pool, travel centre, good breakfast, busy reception, etc

The hotel is conveniently located close to my family members residences.The food and accomodations were very satisfactory. The Staff was very helpful. I would stay there on my next visit.

Very conviniently located with easy access to taxi/autos. Lots of shops and food outlets within walking distance. Friendly and courteous staff. Restaurants and bar in the hotel was convinient. Used room service and it was excellent.

It is good hospitality. However, the hotel booking timings are not convenient to us who coming from abroad. Eg., If I want to stay in the hotel in a night, the booking to be made from 12:00Noon onwards. Since 12 to 12Noon is the booking/cancellation timings. This should be matched with international flight timings.

We loved our stay, will definitely recommend others and stay here when we return. All the staff are so friendly, most helpful, eager to cater to every need. All waiting staff in all restaurants really great. Gym is very well equipped. Breakfast buffet is excellent, great variety.

Its too old and no upgrading has been done, flooring was tiles making it very cold on our feet nothing like carpets. Bathrooms needs upgrading. Restaurants were nice with good food. Location is ok

From the minute i walked in to the day i left i felt relaxed an comfortable. The staff were always helpfull and polite.I especialy liked the rooftop restaurant, the food was amazing

The hotel was very nice, clean, and hospitable. The beds were comfortable, the wi-fi worked decently (have to request a new password from the front desk at times, but it wasn't much of a hassle) and the hot water was amazing! The staff was very friendly and quick to bring me whatever I requested. Having three restaurants & two bars within the hotel […] was also a huge benefit. In particular, I would highly recommend the Fondue restaurant on floor one. I wandered in my first night there, looking for some non-Indian food (by this time in my travels I had been eating Indian food for 3 weeks and I needed a break... haha). I was pleasantly surprised to find a very multi-cuisine menu with appetizing items influenced by other countries. The staff was super friendly and hospitable. Definitely the best service I had during my whole stay in India. They were helpful in recommending menu items and the Chef even came out after my meal to ask how the food was! Their drinks were quite good, and they hand-made ginger ale for me with real chunks of ginger. The spicy tomato soup and stuffed chicken were the best I've ever had. I was so impressed that I ate there for lunch and dinner the next day. If you visit Hotel Savera, don't miss the Fondue restaurant. It's even worth going to, even if you aren't staying at the hotel. Especially if you're craving some non-Indian food... The food was up to par with some of the fanciest restaurants I've been to in the United States. Chef Balen has cooked in many other countries, and he genuinely cares about the quality and taste of his food! I also appreciated that he cared enough to get feedback from me. A++ experience :) As far as what could be improved, the room could have used some paint and there was some dis-coloring on the walls. But compared to the other places I stayed in India, this place was very nice. The hotel lobby is very nice, comfortable. well lit. The prices for food is quite high. internet did not work for 3 out of the 5 days. the rooms area comfortable, but the hallways are dark and carpeting is old and smells. for the price the hotel accomodations, are acceptable.

I stayed at this hotel in 2008 and was delighted for the price I paid. This year, I actually bought an upgrade to the executive room, but the cleanliness of he sheets and bathroom were actually significantly worse than the last time. My recommendation- do not upgrade.

Very conviniently located and well maintained, except that the room we got wasnt that good. And alternate room wasnt available. The restaurant prices are comparatively high for the restaurant and the quality. But it was good. The A/c Did not function to the expected state in our room and although the technical personnel came immediately upon the reciept […] of the complaint, they could not do much. (Maybe the weather of chennai to blame?) had to make do with a pedestal fan to keep us cool out there. The house keeping staff was very prompt but not so prompt for clearing the plates. Had to keep the plates outside the room eventually. This makes the hotel look cheap. My room was exactly below the roof top restaurant and there was work going on which kept disturbing us in the afternoon on the day of our arrival (especially i had driven down from bangalore) . It had to be taken up to the management to stop the noise. Overall i was very happy though. For the price i got from Hotels.com website and other factors which makes me to like the hotel. Very friendly staff and making their best to keep you happy attitude. Some problems like the one above did exist. The food was great although we did not taste all the restaurants in the hotel. Will surely stay in this hotel again but not sure if its on the rack rate. The hotel should be downgraded to 3 star category too. Les mer

Hotel est tres correct et personnel tres sympa. chambre correcte et propre. Bon point de chute pour depart de visite en Inde.

Das Hotelpersonal ist supernett und sehr bemüht. Bei meiner Ankunft hat man mir sogar ein "besseres" Zimmer, Nichtruaucher gegeben - "upgedatet", obwohl ich um 1:30 Uhr früh angekommen bin, waren alle sehr bemüht. Allerdings haben sie vergessen mir ein ´Taxi zu schicken, wie zuvor per Mail versprochen, also mußte ich mir selber ein Taxi suchen und zum […] Hotel fahren. Das "upgedatete" Zimmer war soweit in Ordnung, sehr bescheiden und sauber, allerdings ohne Strahleglanz. Wie das ganze Hotel ganz allgemein schon bessere Zeiten gesehen hat und irgendwie riecht man daß hier wohl schon 20-30 Jahre nichts mehr investiert wurde. Alles ist ein wenig alt und "muffig". Eine große Eins für das Personal und das Frühstücksbuffet samt der Köche und Kellner. Länger als für eine Nacht bei der Durchreise würde ich dieses Hotel allerdings nicht empfehlen. Les mer

Ett hotell med hög Indisk standard. Delar av hotellet håller på att renoveras. Väljer du att bo här blir du varmt välkomnad. Personalen gör allt för att ge det lite extra. Hotellet erbjuder dig också ett bra gym med kompetenta personliga tränare. Även frukosten är värd att nämnas.
