There was no air conditioning as described. The beds were as hard as the floor-no joke. I ordered a king bed and we got two twin size. Pictures were a little deceiving-was not as "nice" as it looks. It was very clean, however. Wouldn't go back.

Pros: The hotel is in an excellent location, 7 mins to metro, walking distance to Namdaemun and Myeongdong. Hotel staff was very nice except for one guy at the front desk. Cons: It was a struggle to go up the hill where the hotel is after a long day of shopping. No closet space nor drawers for clothes, so we had to keep our stuff in the luggage. very close to Ming dong and Metro station. Room is very big with message bathtub and shower. Staff got perfectly English. Reasonable price. But just need to walk up the hill. No rubbish bin at the room.

If u really want shopping, the location is not really good for bulky luggage.

Our stay was overall a pleasant one and we were very pleased with the cleaniess of the room. It's a near 10mins walk to Myeongdong and Namdaemun. Hotel staff spoke fairly good English.

As others commenters pointed out the hotel is unknown to taxidrivers and you are thus pretty much left to yourself and your navigation skills. It took us an hour from Seoul Station and we had been to Seoul before!!! The location is still central, but there are better options. The standard of this hotel is rather poor. Reality and pictures do not match. […] From close distance the facilities look like it was build in 10 days and awaits completion. We stayed for 3 nights in 2 different rooms and at both we had badly isolated plugs, heavily scratched furniture and wallpaper coming off. The staff is nice and helpful. If you get it for 50$ it is a good deal, I would not pay more for what I just listed. Les mer

Hill House Hotel is located in the central of the city. Near to the shopping area namdaemun market and Myeongdong. However, the walk from the train station is around 10-15mins with a bit of a slope. Good location for shopping if you don't mind the walking back to the hotel!

I have travelled to korea for many times, this time i choose a lower price one to stay. Hill house hotel is really on the hill which is not too far from the railway station, only 5 mins. No need to be scared by the map=] The hotel is situated in a quite place with few love hotel in 30 meters but it is not that danger if travel with others, not alone. […] The hotel provides free daily breakfast which is toast and coffee/tea. Free WIFI is available. The only thing is the security problem. As we get the room key by telling the room number only, I feel the security of my things in the room is not that high... Les mer

free wifi and closed to Meong Dong area. I will suggest this hotel to whoever wanna go shopping or take a short trip in Seoul area. Great stay with little paid.

Not much to say that hasnt been said already. The location is awesome - you`re right by a metro station, one station away from Seoul Station. Shopping, markets, sites near by, the location is phenomenal. The hotel itself? It's clean and comfortable. Nothing super special about it, but great value for money. Recommended.

Room was large with large bath room. Clean and well maintained. The bed was hard but we slept well. The hotel was hard to find. None of the taxi drivers knew where to find it even with a map. Hotel difficult to find but very well located

The hotel is not easy to find at first. But once you figure out location, This place is good base to travel around NamDaeMoon Market, InSaDong and MyeongDong. The metro station is close or you even walk around all those areas.

Nice hotel, had a jacuzzi tub but did not work. Location is a little isolated but takes about 10 mins to get to nearest metro. Many Japanese tourist.

Pleasant stay, very nice staff, thoughtful, clean, cute hotel. Little bit of a walk but really not bad once you got used to it.

What a charming place up on the hill just a few minutes walk from Namdaemoon, the famed shopping area of Seoul. We were very comfortable in the quaint accommodation they provide. Highly recommended especially, if your main objective is to shop and only in town for a couple days.

We had a nice stay at Hill House. The room was clean, the breakfast was simple but nice and the staff very helpful. A few issues however. First, it was almost impossible to find. Directions didn't help, the one way street system got our GPS completely lost and there were almost no signs. Once within 100m of the hotel, it took us another 30 minutes […] to find it. Very specific directions of how to get to the hotel both by driving and from the metro (just 200m away, very good) would help. Secondly, the bathroom stank. It's a wet room, which I like, but there was a disgusting smell from the drain. Closing the bathroom door kept the smell in there, but it was very unpleasant. Thirdly, the bed was really hard. I like a firm bed, but this was like sleeping on a wooden board. All in all though, it was quite nice, and reasonably priced. Les mer

The hotel is located close to the 會賢 metro station, and it is also very close to the cable car station to the Seoul tower, The airport bus stop 6001 and 6015 is a bit far--it takes about 15 to 20 minutes to walk from the hotel. Never having visited Seoul previously, we picked this hotel based on price and proximity to the conference venue. As it turns out, it was also extremely conveniently located with respect to local transportation, coffee shops, restaurants, shopping and eating out. All this while still in a genuine and calm neighborhood. The standard was well above expectations, […] and the room was restocked with just about every necessity daily (including razor and toothbrushes). Our only complaint would be that the bed was very firm, something that was alleviated, though not entirely remedied by an extra mattress upon mention. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Very good hotel for the money, very typical Asian beds (very hard) be warned. Friendly staff helps when you ask for it. Internet works fast while not wireless. Try one of the small good cafes on the road up to Hill House, great breakfasts for a decent price with wireless, what else can an Ipadar need? A nice enough hotel with good transport links and an ideal central location. PROS: Close to subway station and walking distance to Seoul Station and Myeong-Dong Shopping Ditsrtict. CONS; NO RAMP access to the hotel which is very annoying since most people will be travelling with heavy suitcases!!! No-one to help with your luggage either! The surrounding […] neighbourhood seems dodgy when we first arrived but it really is just full of locals and nothing to be worried about. The location is also quite difficult to find even for taxi drivers...the first time from the airport we were refused three times before one finally was kind enough to call the taxi office I guess to get directions...and then after a night out we were refused three times until someone finally knew but then asked for an extortionate price..which we paid otherwise we knew we were going nowhere! Having said that, we used the subway a lot and it really is so close to the hotel you don't really need taxis to get around. Sounds like more cons than pros but I do really recommend this hotel...korean hotels are expensive! So this really is a good hotel for the price you pay. DIRECTIONS TO SUBWAY: Turn right out of the hotel and follow the road round right. When you see a motel on the corner, take that road left and follow it to the end of the road where the subway is in front of the SECOND familymart you will pass. Time: 3mins FOR MYEONG-DONG; do not take the left and continue straight and then at the end of the road turn right, you will have to cross the road left and then right again to get across the road. Convenient. Less than 5 minutes walk from Hoehyeon metro station. Take exit 1 and turn right then up the hill past the Rex Hotel and there is a sign on left. My room was fine, big TV, cable internet and facilities good. Clean and quiet.

Small hotel but close to town at reasonable price. No frills and less spacious than most. I would stay again if budget was is a factor. But the price has to stay low in order for me to use it next time. It's a place where you want to mostly sleep and go.

The hotel is a little hard to find, but with the address, map & car navigation, my taxi driver managed to find it without much difficulty. Rooms were clean, though minimally furnished. There was plenty of space to spread out a big suitcase (or 1 or 2 sleeping bags) on the floor. Breakfast was modest but adequate, as other reviews mentioned. The master light switch touch panel is on the wall by the door -- far from the bed -- and it is only in Korean with no English directions, but eventually I figured it out. The staff was very helpful and courteous. The best part is that they spoke and understood some English. The availability of a computer was great. The hotel is in walking distance to shopping and many eating places. The complimentry breakfast was good but do not expect any breakfast meat. Great location for a visit to downtown Seoul. Easy walking to the major attractions including the Palaces, N Seoul Tower, Insadong, Cheonggyecheon, the Market, etc. Hotel staff very friendly and helpful.

Stayed at this hotel for a total of 5 nights while touring Seoul. Good: Price - For a location near Namdaemun Market, the nightly rate is by far the best price I found for the similar rating. Service - Staffs are very friendly, spoke English well enough to provide detailed directions. Rooms - Clean and comfortable rooms, large bathrooms. Windows blocks […] outside noises. OK: Free Breakfast - Allowed us to save a little Wons for shopping, but lacks variety. Toasts, eggs, beverages everyday got a little old by the end of our stay Bad: Location - This hotel is very hard to find, especially while dragging your luggages around at night. This hotel is well hidden on a small one-way street that even taxi drivers with GPS have a hard time finding. Location - As the name implies, this hotels is really on a hill. It was a tough hike back to the hotel every time after a day of walking around the city. Hotel Condition - The building seems dated. There was no ramp from the small front parking lot to the lobby. That means lifting your own luggages up about 10 steps of stairs. Large carpet stains in the hallway. Weird: No shower curtains - It may be some sort of modern decor, but after shower, the sink, the toilet and all surrounding were all wet. Shower curtains should not be foreign to the Koreans. Very strange. Overall, this hotel provided us with comfort while caused us inconvenience for its location. If anyone plans to stay here, I suggest first getting detailed direction and map to the hotel, in Korean. Next I would suggest bringing comfortable walking shoes for the hill. Les mer

Hill house is conveniently located in Seoul and one can easily access most of the popular markets transportation systems and enable one to enjoy all aspects of Seoul at an affordable rate. The Hotel serves Western breakfast (same service offering everyday: Hotel should provide more variety)

Great price online for an otherwise expensive city. I loved the building and it's location on a hill through narrow streets. Easy to find if you have the hotel address written in Korean. Otherwise, forget it! walking distance to lots of sites including the old market. Room was okay, but could have used a chair to relax in. They only provide a small […] stool, so if you want to lean back and read, you are on the bed. Otherwise, the room was very nice. My big concern was with hotel desk staff. They were not too eager to help. I sent them an email asking for a written translation of a restaurant I wanted to try, and when I asked at the desk, they didn't know what I was talking about and it was too much of a bother to keep asking. The one jewel of staff was Rose, the breakfast cook. She was sweet and funny and made us delicious eggs every morning. I would stay at Hill House again, but if I planned to be there for longer than a week, might want to move on to a second hotel. Something I always look for in a hotel when I'm overseas is a communal space where travelers gather. Usually, this is a bar, but even a good lobby can do the trick. It is really not difficult to find it if you do a bit of homework. Get to to Hoehyeon metro station and take exit 1, it is also some 10 minutes walk from Seoul station (if you walk from that side you will first […] pass Hoehyeon station exit 4 and 3, walk bit more and soon you will get to exit 2 and 1), turn right immediately after exit 1, couple of steps further road forks - go to the left (you will see there a 24h basic food place - Pomato). Shortly you will pass Rex hotel, continue walking up the road, couple minutes later road will turn 90deg left (on to of the small hill) and hotel is just there. Really simple to get there. Les mer

Its not really classified as a hotel in seoul but rather something called "Innostel", which is apparently korea's own type of ranking, below big hotels. I stayed at 2 hotels during my 6 nights trip, this and Astoria Hotel. The location of Hill House Hotel is near to its town area, Myeongdong but the actual path to the hotel from its KTX Station (Seoul […] Train System), is around 300m but upslope. The path get really dark in the night, do take note. The hotel TV system was good, had a lot of channels, including various movies channels. The only thing that I do not really like is that either they do not have bathtubs or the room given to me didnt had one. Conclusion, I would strongly recommend this hotel to anyone except single or double females on a fair budget to book in this hotel. Les mer

Near the centre but up a hill in a sort of back street...I odten had to giude taxi drivers. Room great with everything you might have forgotten..toothbrushes, shoe horn, razors etc. Maid service excellent and very clean. The only real disappointment was the brekfast. A choice between one fried egg and two fried eggs with toast and coffee. Good value […] for the deal I got. Les mer

The hotel is located at a 5 min walk to Hoehuyeon subway station line 4. The room was clean and spacious. The staff was friendly. The breakfast consisted of toast with fried or boiled eggs, coffee or tea, nothing else! Would have liked the hotel to be situated a bit closer to the subway station, because the walk back at night was a bit intimidating. […] If you take a taxi, remember to bring the telephone number for the hotel, just in case! Hoehuyeon station is just one station from Myeong-dong shopping district, which in my opinion is the best (but not the cheapest:-) place to shop and walk around. Les mer

Staffs in hotel were all very kind and helpful.

I reserved this hotel because it was inexpensive and its rating was relatively high. First off, it was a bit difficult to find. My taxi driver struggled to find it even with his fancy navigation system. My room looked like a typical Korean love hotel (I've been to a few.) The first thing I noticed was water stains on the table that weren't cleaned properly. […] The room had a large flat screen TV, but has only Korean channels (though I saw CNN in the lobby). My bathroom came with a whirlpool bath, but it did not work. The sink and the faucet was loose and moved around as I was using them. All rooms come with free breakfast consisting of eggs and toast - no complaint there. I was torn between 2 and 3 overall rating, but decided on 3 only because of its low price. Simple free breakfast with one egg, two pieces of bread, ccabbage, coffee and orange juice. Clean and quiet room in convenient location. Five minutes to Subway, 10 minutes to Train station, Nandaemun and Ming Dong area.

Altho named Hill House, the hill is not that bad. 10 min stroll from underground metro. It is close to the Namdaemon Market and base of N. Seoul tower. Followed directions posted on TripAdvisor from airport and found it without issues. Room is clean and made everyday. Breakfast is the very simple and the same everyday - 2 slice of toast and eggs w/ […] milk/oj/tea, etc. No perks or frills, just a clean and basic hotel room to stay as a tourist. Les mer

Great place. The immediate area surrounding it doesn't look that great, but it's safe and seems to be a residential type area which has some convenience stores and restaurants. Walk down to the main road which is about 5 minutes away and you're very near Namdaemun and Myeondong, two great shopping areas. Hotel was clean, comfortable. Hoehyeon subway station is just 5 minutes down the road. The only thing is, it IS hard to find, but if you are taking the subway from Incheon Airport, you'll have to transfer to Line 4, get off at Hoehyeon station, and go to Exit 1, and walk up the hill for about 5 minutes.
