Hotel Rex - Firenze

my mother and i were very satisfied with their service and the room as well. Their sister hotel San Giorgio is just around the corner and it is also very nice. wi-fi at REX is not currently working but they have it is San Giorgio for free.

This simple yet comfortable hotel is a perfect mixture of convenience, price, and ammenities. It is literally around the corner from both the San Lorenzo Market & a closer yet to the Medici Chapels and a 2 minute walk to the train station (Firenze SMN). When we arrived, we got charged an additional 20 euros for one of the kids who was on the reservation but only a double was booked by hotels.com and on top we were charged an additional 3 euros for local taxes per person. The location is great in the middle of the town, very quiet. The rooms are faiur but there was a bad smell coming off the bathroom […] and it's all in a single spot, you can shower will sitting on the toilet... not very pleasant. Les mer

We had booked into this hotel for just one night. We were glad not to stay longer. The room we were in smelled of damp and the wallpaper was peeling in several places. It was an extremely small room with a sliding door to the small bathroom. The wardrobe was also so small that we could only put our 2 coats in before it was full up. The sliding door […] had not been painted and had a broken door-knob on it. We asked if we could have a different room but because the hotel was fully booked, only one room on the top floor was available. This proved to be equally tiny although with a bigger bathroom, but we could not see an advantage in moving - so stayed where we were. The walls and ceilings are very thin - so you could hear people coming and going and the noise of TVs in the various rooms. During the night it was eventually quiet but only until around 6.00 when the noise started up again. The plus points - the staff on reception were friendly and the lift worked. Les mer

not really happy with this hotel.. convenient to attractions but a the area was a little seedy. hotel was clean but room was a bit small, even by European standards. only thing that made it ok was short stay and very close to attractions in Florence and the train station

Hotel Rex is one of the shabbiest hotels we stayed at in Italy. Tired and old, the rooms needed paint & repairs. Small bedroom, small bathroom. Mosquitos came in the open windows at night. No screens. No safe. Good location: 12 minutes to train station and lively central market. A fun street to stroll & shop. Breakfast free but so-so. The only thing this hotel offers is close proxymity to the Duomo. I am not one to critized these hotels because I knew ahead of time they would not be like the hotels here in the States. They are normally smaller, might have a community shower, and might not have air conditioning. Knowing these, I was a little dissapointed when I walked into the room. […] It was outdated, still had trash left in there from the previous guests, and everytime we left the hotel we had to leave the key at the front desk. I could look past the 1960's feel of the room. But the trash and leaving the key did not sit well with me. The man told me they like to keep track of who is in their room and who is not. I like my privacy and having to leave the key with them did not make it feel very private. I know every hotel can activate a card and come in if they have to but it did not feel right. By the way they do not have cards, they have real keys. Like I said earlier, very outdated. The room was paid ahead of time so it was not like were going to sneek off without paying. We only stayed one night so we walked around Frorence all day and only came up to sleep. As I said before, I knew the hotel could be a dump, but for the price payed we expected a little more. Stayed in 6 different hotels in northern Italy over 2 weeks. Was pleasantly surprised with this hotel, for the money we paid compared to others in the area, it was a very good value.

The location of this hotel was great, easy to find, very close to the train station, close to many things. However, the place looks like no maintenance or work was done on it since 1968. Furniture was very old, worn out, dirty, and uncomfortable. The showers did not work well and were equivalent to hostile quality. I would not recommend staying here […] more than 2 nights if absolutely necessary. Les mer

I hated it. The pictures showed an amazing room, I asked for two beds for me and my brother. We had a small room, barely big enough for you to change your mind, one bed and it smelled horrible. I won't stay here again.

Great hotel for the price. Wifi is only available in the lounge area, but it is free and works well. The rooms are very spacious. The carpet is stained, but otherwise the rooms are very clean. The showers were the only thing we didn't like, but considering the price of the hotel, we didn't mind.

the location is very central. the room very very old. there are a lot of hotels in the are. enjoy florence, it's awesome!

Best thing about this hotel is the fantastic location - right in the centre - walking distance to all the fabulous sights. Staff friendly, breakfast fine, room clean... but our room was very basic (not even a hairdryer), no natural light and a tiny bathroom with a open plan shower on top of the toilet. It was a place to sleep and nothing else! We may […] have been unlucky with the room as it was the only one left when we booked but certainly don't expect any luxury here. Despite this the location really made up for everything else and if you don't intend to spend much time in your room this is a great choice for staying in the heart of Florence. Les mer

This was a breath of fresh air. An updated old style hotel. Convenient to all transportation and sites and many restaurants.

Excellent hotel, value, and location. The staff was friendly and inviting. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. I booked a second night here on my return trip through Florence based on my first experience. The breakfast is simple, but filling, and the rooms are secure, comfortable, clean, and quiet. You cannot ask for a better location to visit […] the Duomo, do some shopping, and see the David. Most of the remaining major historical sites are within easy walking distance. The hotel is also a five minute walk from the train station - Firenze SMN. You need a taxi to the airport though, which costs about 20 Euros. The hotel will gladly call one for you. I'm a graduate student, so value is a major concern for me, and this hotel offers a lot for the money. Enjoy your stay. Les mer

Ottima posizione centrale, tutto o quasi, a distanza ravvicinata. Camra e bagno puliti ma quest'ultimo necessita di una completa ristrutturazione (molte mattonelle rotte,scarico non ben funzionante). Prima colazione accettabile ma un sorriso insieme al cappuccino sarebbe stato gradito.Più amichevole il personale alla reception. Il prezzo è buono e il personale molto gentile, ma tre stelle forse sono un po' troppe. La struttura avrebbe bisogno di una manutenzione generale. La posizione è ottima, praticamente attaccato alla Cappella Medicea. Il mangiare era complessivamente buono.

Værelserne på 4. sal er elendige. Dårlige toilet og badforhold. Morgenmaden ikke helt i top og rummet, hvor morgenmaden indtages er elendigt.

Beliggenheden er i top. Personalet er venligt og imødekommende. Morgenmaden helt fin.

Vi trivdes mycket bra på Hotel Rex; läget är toppen och servicen bra. När vi skulle checka ut försökte hotellet dock kräva oss på 12 Euro som avsåg en nyinförd turistskatt som var införd efter att vi bokat och betalat (vilket dessutom inte var sant då vi bokat precis innan vi åkte). Vi sa att i Hotels.coms priser ingår alla skatter och att hotellet […] fick vända sig till Hotels.com om man ville kräva betalt för denna extra skatt. Som argument användes även att alla andra gäster betalad utan att klaga. Hotellet hotade med att ringa polisen, vilket vi uppmuntrade men sa att det måste ske med en gång då vi hade bråttom. När ingen polis hade tillkallats efter en stund begav vi oss därifrån. Huruvida skatten existerade eller ej, vet vi inte, men att kräva betalt på detta sätt är som utpressning (vi hade ju redan betalat när vi kom till hotellet och checkat in när vi kunde läsa informationslappar i hissen - då är det ju försent att vända). Cet hotel est très bien situé, et permet d'être très rapidemment au Duomo. Par contre la chambre est exigue, la salle de bain est équipée de manière rudimentaire, et le petit déjeuner se contente du service minimum.

Ventaja: El hotel esta muy bien ubicado, cerca de todo, con acceso gratuito a internet y desayuno incluido en el fee. Desventajas: El cuarto: Minibar no funcionaba, no tiene safebox, y el baño no tiene bañadera. Tiene salida de ducha pero el agua va al piso. Se lo recomendaria a aquellos que priorizan ubicacion ante todo y no son exigentes en cuanto […] al hotel en si. Les mer
