The hotel dispite dating back to the dark ages was friendly and homely - possibly reminiscent of your nanas house. You need to have a fair bit to drink to get a decent nights sleep especially over the ghostly clunks in the morning and the mysterious paintings of dead people hanging on the walls. Also bear in mind that hot water is rationed and power […] cuts are to be expected but we really loved it. I would definately recommend it as a budget hotel if your after a bit of an adventure. Just shower and straighten your hair before you go, take the pictures off the wall and face them the other way as soon as you arrive and allow some additional time for exploring (or getting lost in the corridors). Deffinately give it a go though. xx Les mer

Location is good. Staff is very helpful. Rooms need to be upgraded.

Not very clean, no heating, continental breakfast not Engilish, if you ask for English breakfast he look at you as if you from diffrent plant?? I would not recommmend this hotel

On our arrival despite having requested a twin room we found we had been given a double. This was changed to a triple. Access to the room was like going through a maize of corridors and stairs, as I am disabled with a seriour knee problem this proved very difficult, there was no life. The room was old and not clean. There was only 2 sockets in the room […] that were english the rest were european sockets. 3 of the lights did not work and the TV took some figuring out before we could get it to work. On our return in the evening the room was very cold we turned on the heaters but they did not work. The duvets on the bed were very thin so to keep warm we had to go to bed fully clothed. There were stains on the woodwork in the halls, carpets in hallways didnt look like they had been hooved in a while. If we had know we were going to freeze the way we did I would have driven the 3 hours home after our concert and slept in my nice warm bed Les mer

I have never seen such a dirty and dusty hotel room. The carpet looked like it hasn't been hoovered for years!!! In addition the heating was not working eventhough I was ensured by receptionist it will be switched on in the evening. I was freezing cold all night.

Well, firstly I have had a good stay mainly because the staff was cooperative. But the PROBLEM -- THIS HOTEL WAS ORIGINALLY CALLED JONATHAN BEST INN- therefore nobody locally knows about this. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THE PHONE NUMBER GIVEN MY HOTELS.COM mail confirmation is incorrect. So what do you get -- A Outsider stuck on the road with nowhere […] to GO- WHOA.. Thank you you HOTELS.COM The place is clean and the staff is pleasant. The rooms are in a labyrinth. six seven doors 4 turns and then I reached my room. Hiya, we stayed here on the 1st of october for one night and me and my hubby really enjoyed it!, we loved the olddie fashionendy kind of place, we loved it was like a maze, good choice for breakfast, and located not far from broad street great location for the nightlife, the hotel is next to food outlets and A pub over the road what does really good […] food!, would stay here again,great value fr money! Stayed here for a quick trip to birmingham.Booked a double room but was only 1 towel and what looked like a smallish queen bed.Asked at reception if it was meant to be a double so was moved to what can only be described as a suite from the 1920s but a good way.Own living room with wood panelling etc,double bedroom,twin bedroom and bathroom.Bit dated,certain […] lights not working etc but for the price paid a bargain[esp with full english thrown in] Its worth staying here just to see all the nooks and crannies.Have a look about if you stay here...would stay again if it was the same price, Les mer

Excellent value for money and easy access from M5 motorway. Friendly and helpful staff. Ideal for an overnight stop.

Rooms needed cleaning and our friends were kept up all night with someone screaming. This was reported but nothing was done about it.They were kept up all night without sleep

Room wasnt the best - but the price we paid wasnt the highest by far - Just to say I WOULD RETURN TO THIS HOTEL. A great rate from Hotels.com for 2 people including breakfast was fantastic. The staff were very friendly and the breakfast had a lot to choose from. The room we had needed updating i.e. a new window that closed properly would be nice, as […] well as heating. A modern TV with remote control would have been nice as well. Bed clothes and pillows were new which was great, but let down by an old materess. Plenty of shops & pubs nearby where you can get your evening meal, Indian, Italian, McDonalds and 3 pubs. With a good bus service into the centre of Birmingham this was an excellent base for days out. Oohhhh and just to let you know they are modernising this hotel - so it will only get better - but alas I fear the price will go up as well so go now while its a bargin!!!!! Les mer

This hotel is somewhat 'tired' but once you get over the shock of this we felt it represented good value and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The big complaint we (and others) have is that when you book 'Full Breakfast' this means cold ham and cheese ! A proper cooked breakfast costs extra.

Good points - very friendly staff, clean, good value, interesting/quirky building, basic continental breakfast included & located on a main route into the City. Bad points - rooms are looking a little tired, ongoing roadworks outside at a major road junction. Wouls stay again.

A 20 bed dorm would have been better than this place. thought maybe we just hit a bit of bad luck but no everyone we spoke to was in the same boat. no mater how cheap this place is i would never go back.

Very strange hotel. You've got very nice rooms which could be in 3 stars hotel and you've got rooms looking like cheap hostel. We also had our luggage carried to our room ! Which is very nice :) But this was the thing with this hotel, we keep going from extreme to another with no measure. Rooms: nothing like the photos you see on this website. We […] had no curtain, stains all over the carpet, no hot water half way of my shower, no tv remote. Walls are so thin you can hear all the conversation next door. Windows are also very thin and you will get the noise from the door. Overall, I would say that for one night, it is ok. But no more than this. Breakfast is continental. If you want Full english breakfast you will need to pay extra. No fault to the staff who were extremely polite and courteous. Les mer

I was very surprised at the Hotel. The decor is amazing and the four poster bed a real experience. The staff were friendly and helpful. My only niggle, would be that in my room I heard the nearby 'fire' doors slam shut until late into the night, so a little bit disturbed at times. But all in for the price I couldnt recommend it more!

Rooms looking a little tired and breakfast quite basic, but excellent value for the price paid and staff very friendly.

Need a hotel for 4 nights while attending a training course so a good bed, shower and quiet sleep was all I required. This hotel fulfilled all. Its a little dated but overall in good shape. Double Room was big with an adequate mattress, adequate shower and had 4 quiet nights. Felt very apprehensive booking this hotel when i saw reviews of similiar hotels […] stating very noisy hallways, bad mattresses etc. However this hotel was a welcome surprise for the price i paid. It is an old building and still needs some cosmetic work but was not falling down round my ears. Continental style breakfast of cereals, tea and toast, fruits, yogurt and some cheese/ham was good quality for the price i paid. Again a plus mark for the hotel here. Overall very happy with the hotel and the staff who were helpful. It is 10 mins approx from Birmingham city center so this is also a plus. Parking is provided at the hotel free of charge which is also a bonus. Free broadband access in the bar is a plus. For the price very much recommended. Les mer

El hotel está bien pero para gente joven. La limpieza en la habitación no es muy allá, salvo la cama que sí, que se veia limpia, el suelo(que encima era moqueta), muebles y esquinas estaban más bien sucias. La papelera sin vaciar del anterior y no te hacen la habitación de un día para otro. Cada habitación tiene una decoración. Nuestra habitación era […] grande pero estaba muy recargada con muebles de antaño. Por los pasillos olía a comida a todas horas(en la habitación no) y por la noche algún ruido se oía pero sin más. La relación calidad-precio es la que se puede esperar, pues nos salió muy barato. El desayuno que nos venía incluido era el básico(cereales, tostadas, mantequilla y mermelada, algo de embutido, café, té y zumo) tipo buffet, pero estaba muy bien. Si quieres el típico inglés, tienes que pagar un suplemento. Tuvimos un problemilla porque en su reserva no salía que habíamos cogido desayuno (que bueno, aun cogiéndolo allí, era más que asequible) y en la nuestra estaba escrita en español...Al rato nos dijeron que sí, que sin problemas. Recomendaría el hotel a gente que lo único que va hacer allí es dormir. Para pasar más tiempo del necesario no. Hay un Mc Donalds y un indio al lado. Les mer

バス停は近くにあるけれど、車がなければちょっと不便。 でも、迷路のような廊下と、趣のある部屋。 ホテルの中で、何枚も写真を撮りたくなります。 長くバーミンガムに滞在するのであれば、２泊ほどするのは楽しいかも。
