Centro Motel - Calgary

I was in Calgary for a convention and i drove in really late at night. the office closes at 11 pm but if you call them ahead of time and let them know you'll be arriving late, they out your keys in an envelop with you name on it in a drop box. It's really easy to access it, all you have to do is call the hotel number and it connects you to the after-hours […] line and they'll give you a code to open the lock box. It's not the most convenient thing to deal with, especially when I got in so late at night and was already exhausted, but at least it's pretty simple to manage. It's a nice motel and very comfortable. the continental breakfast was small but good and I would stay there again. Les mer

on first impression all the renovations look fantastic! however not enough money was spent in sound proofing upper floor, could hear upstairs people walking and talking well into 3am, did not get good rest had to turn the tv on to muffle the noise from upstairs.

Over all it was good. Since i was there for a n=oone night stay the area was not an issue, if i was there longer i would like to have been in a different area, but i felt the area to be safe, and that is what really counts

My room was very comfortable, and clean. Service people were very nice. The hotel amenities were very good. For me the location worked fine.

This was my husband and I's first trip to Calgary. We were attending an event at the University so our choice for this hotel was due to location. I had read the reviews on this motel prior to buying but it seemed like a pretty good risk. The ONLY review's that were correct was about the hot water. You don't get scalding water but it's warm enough that […] you feel pretty clean after and showering later in the day or at night is better than in the morning. The staff was wonderful. Cheerful, helpful and friendly no matter what time of day. The rooms were comfortable and cozy and it was actually pretty warm for the time of year we went but the fan in our room cooled it down nicely. There are no vending machines or ice machines but right across the street is a gas station and there is a mini-fridge in the room for your convenience. I am a pretty light sleeper and I was a little nervous with the reviews about noise but we didn't have those problems either and there were quite a few younger people staying in rooms right next to us. The location is pretty nice, about five minutes from the university, Olympic Park, and shopping areas. The rooms were well cleaned. We were surprised as a pet friendly motel to not have any of the pet smells in our rooms. We don't have pets so we are pretty sensitive to the smells. Awesome place to stay. The staff is friendly and helpful, breakfast is OK. Rooms are cleaned and stocked on daily basis. HOWEVER hotel has serious issues with sound proofing,and I am not a light sleeper at all. Had 1st room on 1st floor, and every time someone in the room above walked you could hear every step very pronounced. you can also hear the person next door pretty […] well. Second floor rooms are better, but still very audible. The traffic noise is almost constant. If it rains or snows, the parking lot turns into the pool in the middle, walkways are kept clean. We stayed here one night. The location was convenient - just off the highway. The room was clean. Nice pillows, soft sheets & duvet. Nicely renovated. The continental breakfast was good - toast, oatmeal, muffins, cereal, fruit, yogurt, coffe, & tea. The only negative was the vanity lighting was really poor - so kind of hard to see what your makeup or […] hair looked like. Les mer

What an outstanding place with most friendly staff. You get a lot more for your money than you would expect. The breakfast is very nice too and included in the room. The staff is trained absolutely fantastic and gives more information than a concierge at some hotels.

good facility, breakfast, kind staff but bad location. It's little bit far from downtown but on the way to the banff national park.

Nicely decorated, modern room. Bathroom was quite small and the "king" bed was two twin mattresses put together. However, we would stay here again as the continental breakfast was nice and the room was comfortable. Great value for your dollar.

I arrived to the hotel late to find a note on the door to the front desk and all services closed. They posted a phone number for assistance but the number only got through to elevator music and no help. Hotels.com had some 'other' number that connected them to a person that could help but why didn't I get that number posted on the door? Got my key from […] a lock box. Pretty cheap reno that tries to be a boutique hotel. Woke up to the sound of traffic. Won't stay there again. Les mer

When we opened the doors to the hotel room, we were amazed how stylish and modern the room looked. The bed was extremely comfortable! The only problem was the floors inside the room were very dirty. Our socks were brown after walking around within the room... You couldn't physically see any dirt because the floors are dark. Otherwise, the place was […] very clean and well kept. You are reasonably a close to downtown, so the location was okay -- but there really isn't anything around there that you would wank to walk to. You really have to get in your car to get anywhere. We booked this hotel as our usual one had raised the price, yet again. We were very pleased with the hotel which had been recently renovated. The only complaint is that the air condtioner was quite load, but we didn't use it at night as we prefer to use the window for ventilation and it was cool in the evening.

Very happy with this hotel it was very modern and looks just like the photos if not better! Was very clean and fresh. Would stay agin with out a second thought!

I was actually not disappointed at all by this motel. it was very clean and the room looked very nice. it was a bit high of a price point for the size of the room and the tv was set very high for the level of your bed. The service was nice they had a free breakfast the room looked nice. the area was nice but the motel had only one exit so if you wanted […] to walk out you either walked to the end of the parking lot or jumped the fece. There was some things to eat near by but not a huge selection. overall for a one night stay it was Nice but nothing overly special Les mer

Our main concern was that there was nobody in the office from 11 pm to 7 am. There was a very noisy group next door and we had nobody to report it to. The walls seem paper thin. The air conditioner sits on the floor and is extremely noisy. We had asked for a ground floor room which we did receive; however we were reluctant to open the window so that […] we wouldn't have to use the air conditioning. No wakeup service; no ice machine; no pop machine. The rooms look nice but we were in Calgary for medical reasons and would have appreciated a bit better quality of service. Les mer

Very clean, nicely done decore, friendly staff. Would stay again,easy access to #1 Hwy.

Overall fine. The room is clean and well maintained except for one major problem. The front door didn't lock. And the staff present at the time did not know how to repair it so we had to put al of our stuff in the car when leaving the room unattended. I also found the breakfast to be quite under standard. No toaster!

Our stay In Centro was excellent. The gentleman who was on duty that weekend was excellent; caring and helpful. You can name them all about him. I wish the world can have everybody like him; the world can be a better place to be. I wouldn't mind to stay there next time. Quiet,clean and comfortable.

This unassuming motel is located less than 5 minutes from the Foothills Hospital. Years ago the Bowness area of Calgary was considered a little rough and rowdy. Upon check in, we were very pleasantly surprised at the modern decor and amenities offered. The desk clerk was very accomodating as well. We would very definitely stay there again.

The room was so hot we could not sleep all night! The thermostat did not work when we turned down the temperature and I was not going to open the window for security reasons. I was staying in the room alone with my two young daughters. I also did not want to open a window due to the outside noise! All in all we might have gotten an hours sleep all night! […] We should have slept in the car! Les mer

We enjoyed our stay and would stay there again

I loved my stay at the Centro! It was clean and quiet and the bed was so comfy I slept as well as I do at home. The staff were really great - and prepared - offering us two maps of Calgary to help us get around. I have already recommended the Centro to my family and friends and plan to stay there on my next trip to Calgary.

I've stayed at many hotels in Calgary, and I'm not impressed with the hotels. But the room at the Centro Motel was very comfortable, clean, and updated. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

The motel was clean and very customer service oriented. The room are very well designed. This motel is amazing for non-smokers. This motel also provides you with free long distance calling anywhere in the U.S and Canada, which we found to be very helpful.

A very nice hotel....new and everything worked, man at front desk very helpful. My only complaints....the bed had a heavy comforter between two sheets, and was way too hot (a sheet and two light blankets that we could take off easily would have been much better). Also, my wife said the bathroom lighting was not so good.

Very clean and comfortable. We had a dog and could not be more happier with the place. It was a little loud from the traffic but we are used to that. The walls are on the thinner side but we were not to bothered by it. The free long distance calls in USA and canada was a nice addition. Overall satisfied .

Free long distance calls to anywhere in Canada or the U.S.! Free Internet use in the lobby, and free access in your room. Even an IPod docking station. All that was very valuable. Brand new walls, floor, furniture, and bedding so no allergies. The fluffy bathrobes weren't really necessary since there was no pool. We missed having a Jacuzzi. Rooms were […] small, but with free parking and breakfast, it was a good value. We slept well and would definitely go back. Les mer

For a motel, this one top-notch room. Very modern. Great if you are a business traveller, have a car (a must), and need a place near the city to do some stuff. For a motel and a place to rest your head for the night, fantastic. Pillows and mattress best my wife and I enjoyed on our trip, and we had a stay at 4* place in Banff. Downtown Calgary is only […] 5-10 minutes away by car. The only I'd recommend is perhaps drapes on in the windows. Thick blinds let more light in than I would have liked. And the desk clerks really should know what's going on in the City on a Saturday night! Our check-in clerk was clueless and we discovered that there was fireworks near Kensington, way too late to enjoy it. Les mer

On the positive side, the hotel rooms are newly renovated. Therefore everything is clean and new with tasteful decor. As well, free wireless internet and telephone calls within Canada and the USA is very convenient. However, we did have a few issues. Upon check-in, the front desk attendent failed to provide wireless log-in instructions as well as telephone […] operation instructions. This wouldn't have been an issue if the motel provided an information sheet in the room. As well, the motel ran out of milk during our first morning there - they have a free breakfast. There was only enough for two serving. However, the manager did go out and purchase some more. The most important thing to keep in mind is the location and state of the motel. It is important to keep in mind that this is a traditional 2-storey walk-up motel from the 70's and early 80's. Sound proofing and insulation are not the greatest. The motel is right on 16 Avenue which is very busy. You can hear road traffic at all hours. Considering the price per night, you need to weigh your options. Les mer

This was a fairly comfortable hotel. The beds were very comfortable and the rooms were nicely renovated, well appointed and tidy. The air conditioner was VERY loud and only seemed to cool part of the room. The walls are very thin between hotel rooms, so were were woken up in the morning by loud talking by hotel cleaning staff in the room next to ours. […] Strangely enough, the cleaning staff did not clean our room - we stayed for 2 nights - between the first and second night. We arrived at 11 pm to check in and were informed that the staff leave at 11 pm, so I'm not sure what would happen if we arrived an hour later, we may have been out of luck! Breakfast is simple, instant oatmeal, cereal boxes, juice boxes and pastries from 7-11 am. Papers are free. I'd stay there again, but maybe not in the summer due to AC problems. Les mer

The building is a decades old 'shotgun' motel right on the Trans-Canadian Highway (16th ST in Calgary). The building and rooms have been cleaned up, repainted and redecorated. HOWEVER, the paper thin walls allow you to HEAR EVERYTHING from the traffic rumbling by outside right down to the smallest noises made in the adjoining rooms (use your imagination). […] The faux wood grained (plastic) flooring amplifies the noise of every footfall. The nice room photos shown on Hotels.com do not convey the issues with this property. The 'breakfast' was a joke. The neighborhood is 'in transition' and we did not feel secure at all. You can do far better in Calgary for the same or less money. Les mer

An old 1960's motel renovated into the next century. Contemporary decor with an amazingly comfortable bed (actually had to pull up the crisp, white bed linens to see what kind of mattress it was). Breakfast was simple consisting of muffins, pastries, fresh fruit, ceral, yogurt, granola bars and fresh brewed, really good coffee. I would definitely stay […] again. Les mer

Great Motel. Rooms look much better than some hotels. Service was good. Location was a bit far out. Brand new room I stayed it. The free long distance, breakfast, free internet and parking made the trip inexpensive and well worth it. I booked for 2 nights and ended up staying for 4. Manager gave a better rate for the next 2 nights. The Room was a bit […] hot at night but they were in the process of installing A/C. No ice machine but they offered complimentary juices all day. First impression was great, but then the people upstairs moved in. Heard everything that was going on up there. Then there was NO room service. To bad I thought I would return, but NO!!

Das Hotel liegt am Highway No. 1 wie viele andere Motels. Es ist sauber und modern eingerichtet. Man sollte jedoch zusehen, dass man ein Zimmer im Obergeschoß bekommt, man hört Nachts jedes Laufen der über einem Wohnenden.
