Beach was beautiful, food was great, service was perfect. Everyone at the resort was friendly. There was only few minor problems. We had mosquito in the room and it was hard to get rid of. And the shower booth was not in perfect condition. Looks like it was recently remodeled. but it was poorly constructed. I'm a bit clean freak so it might not bother […] most people. Watched the ratings closely before choosing this hotel. Ended up being a great vacation. Rooms were excellent, staff was courteous, overall resort experience was excellent. The attention to detail each of you provided was well worth every dime spent on this resort. Incredibly beautify hotel. Very clean with very friendly staff. We stayed in Preferred tower. We've been there before and always get a room on the ground floor so you can walk right out to the pool. We typically go in February and the weather never disappoints. Mid 80's and sunny all day and mid 70's at night. The resort is perfect for couples. Drinks […] are plentiful and the food is good. Secrets Saint James is a wonderful place. This is my 5th trip to Jamaica. The food is the best of all the All-Inclusive resorts that I have visited from Mexico to other islands in the Caribbean (I have been to at least 20 All-Inclusive resorts, over the last eight years). The Jerk Chicken cart that strolls up and down the beach of Secrets St James and […] the sister hotel, Secrets Wild Orchid, has the best jerk Chicken and we enjoyed it every day for lunch. Thank you Lothian and the other jerk chicken cook for that wonderful treat. I love the music in Jamaica and the house bands at Secrets are amazing. The staff are very friendly and helpful. I especially want to thank Taneisha and O'Neill the coffee man, at breakfast. Moya, Mickey, Bon Jovi, Julian and the rest of the entertainment and recreation staff are amazing dancers and a lot of fun. Andre at the piano bar is a very talented pianist who plays by ear. Please tip the staff at least $1 at meals, services and for drinks, as it costs us very little and means a lot to them, though it is not obligatory. The sunsets were absolutely beautiful. This place is best suited for couples, and conferences, as I came with two other friends for one week and only met one other person who came solo. The resort area is beautiful! Not a long walking beach but the water was pretty. The preferred club was definitely not worth the price. I think we would have had a better view without it. Proximity to the airport was great for a quick trip. Food was good.

This hotel had great atmosphere and was overall a very good experience! Food: The food was just mediocre. Many of the restaurants had food that was overcooked or seemed like it had been sitting out for quite sometime. We had someone that was Gluten free in our group and all of the restaurants were very accommodating and would have a chef come out to […] talk to us about what the person could or could not eat. Hitsmu was by far the best restaurant!!! Great food and experience!! Drinks & Bar: The bartenders were not afraid to serve you drinks! Going to an all inclusive we thought the drinks would be "weak". This was by no means the situation. We often had to ask for extra diet coke or less rum. This was a difficult concept for the bartenders to understand. Service: The speed of the service was very very slow!!!!! Everything that you asked or would try to do took an extremely long amount of time!! We were trying to book different activities to do off site and it at minimum took 20-40 mins to complete. Overall this was a great hotel! The rooms were very clean, had new mattresses, the wait staff and hotel staff were very friendly! The view from the rooms was wonderful and the weather was perfect! Everything about the hotel was excellent except for the food and since this was an all-inclusive resort we were very disappointed and won't be going back again. We are so glad we didn't sign up for the 'romantic candlelight dinner' at the beach for an additional $200 dollars - we looked at the menu and the description was the same as the terrible food […] they offered in the restaurants. It was a great experience for my family's first trip to Jamaica. The all inclusive package work out well and the hotel's beach and pool are very nice maintain. We call several times of room services and housekeeping , the staff turn out quick and deliver what we asked for. Overall a nice experience for my family.

We have alot to compare this resort to as we have taken 10 all- inclusive vacations in the past 9 years. We have never returned to any resort, although, we have had some very good experiences. This resort was so exceptional that we are hoping to make this a pre-Christmas tradition.

Secret St. James was wonderful from the location, appearance and the conditions but most of all the staff was wonderful. We enjoyed ourselves so much if we visit Montego Bay again we will definitely stay at Secret St. James.

My Wedding Anniversary was spoilt. My experience at this hotel was marred by disappointment which was no fault of mine. The hotel itself as beautiful and the rooms out of this world. My only sadness was with one hotel staff Marlene who had no customer service skill. I paid for my hotel room in the UK with my husband to join me there. There was some […] error with the booking because of Expedia. This woman spoke to us as if I had not paid for my trip and my husband and I was trying to con the hotel of a nights rest. My anniversary was ruined. On the other hand Natalya was the opposite, she was helpful, thoughtful of the error and tried her best to help us. She has great customer service skills and a pleasant person to talk to. The hotel room was clean and the other staffs were great. On this experience alone I would give superb to the hotel. The staff, for the most part, are unpleasant. The hotel itself and the amenities are awesome. The area around the hotel is very unpleasant, so don't think you can go for a walk outside of the guarded gates. The food, drinks, and activities inside the resort are awesome, however. 30th Wedding Anniversary. First trip to Jamaica. Weather was ideal (December 7-11). Warm sunny days. Not at full occupancy. Plenty of beach and pool lounge chairs and umbrellas. Attentive staff everywhere. Beaches were clean white sand. Rather than one long beach, it was broken up by sea walls and barriers - so it was no possible to have a long "beach […] stroll". Not a problem - you could stroll the entire length of the resort on the sidewalk that separated the pool/hotel/restaurant side of the resort with all the beaches. As with all Secret locations, the non-motorized water sports were free. The snorkeling right off the beach was average / snorkeling out in the reef area was nice in the mornings (no waves at all - smooth as glass and effortless). The Hobie sails (four of them) were available every time I wanted to take one out. The water was beautiful and warm - hung out for hours in the water - would've liked something to float on out in that calm water - would've spent all day out there! Restaurants offered decent (typical all-inclusive type) buffets for breakfast and lunch. Dinner was best at the hibachi Japanese restaurant. Wanted to participate in the hibachi experience, but they were way overboard on entertaining for my style (loud singing - and it wasn't even good singing). My wife and I found it very difficult to even sit in the other part of the restaurant and enjoy a meal. Best lunch is Jerk Chicken - get it from the cart...it's great! Les mer

Every room here is a nice room with an ocean view and Is Very clean. Staff is extremely nice and personable . Something new to do everyday and nite thanks to the entertainment staff. This was the honeymoon for my wife and I, it couldn't have gone better. Met several people from 21-60. Everyone was having a great time everywhere we went. The Hibachi house dinner was very entertaining and fun. Surf and Turf night at the Wild Oasis had unlimited Lobster tails to eat. NO CORNERS were cut by this resort. The drinks were plentiful and amazing. Our visit was from 3-9 Dec 2012. Free Hobie Cat rental and snorkeling right from the resort. This resort, Secrets St. James was top notch from check in to check out. Make sure to ask for a room on higher floor so you get a great view. Also make reservations early in the week for the Hibachi grill restaurant, as many ppl want to go there. The resturants were all very tasty, and breakfast daily was the buffet and was the items every day. The […] cocktails were very good, and they certainly do not skimp on the alcohol. One thing that I could suggest, is that they only carry dry house wines by the glass. If you want sweeter wines, you must pay for it by the bottle, and feel they should be included in the cost as it is an all inclusive resort. The spa was on the pricier side, but Top Notch. I loved the hydro therapy treatment prior to treatment. My husband had massages by Joan, and really liked it. I had a facial, and wasn't as impressed, due to whitehead/blackhead extractions she had done as they did hurt. The resort itself was absolutely stunning, and had much attention to detail, and was very clean. We had a group of 20 ppl, and they accommodated us nightly for dinner. Amazing staff working 24 hours a day to please their guests. Entertainment was more than adequate, lots of stuff to do and a great tour staff to guide you with off-resort trips. Great stay overall. Most bars closed early though, which was disappointing. Mini fridges weren't very cold, and the beaches were smaller than expected.

Great time overall! But the toilet kept clogging (British low flow fixtures are not accustomed to Americans apparently); however the maintenance man came within 15 minutes to fix the problem. The beach is certainly the highlight; beach snacks (carts, cafes, and drinks) were terrific. We were a little disappointed with the El Patio restaurant (tiny portions […] and annoyed waitress, slow service there). The Portfofino and Himitsu restaurants were great though! Also, the Jamaican restuarant there (Blue Mountain) was a nice surprise and we were very impressed. This made up for the attidunal waitress who talked back to me a few times at the EL Patio restaurant. I asked for a menu near dessert time and she panicked and refused to bring me one. She thought I was checking on her to see if she got the order right. She actually got confrontational with me which was so uncomfortable. I didnt bother calling a manager since it's an all-inclusive resort. We simply left and didnt go back to that restaurant. Overall we cannot wait to go back to the resort and always enjoy the SECRETS resorts' experience. Just VERY relaxing- more for couples; definitely not singles. Well first off let me start off by saying I did a lot of looking before I found the right hotel. I travel quite a bit but this is my first tropical vacation. The check in process was dreadful I though, make sure you have printed off something from Expedia that says your full itinary as well as your names. The women of Jamaica were less than friendly […] to us. After check in we found our room to not be ready yet even though we were checking in at 545 pm. Our room was very nice as is the hotel. We were traveling as two friends and had two double beds. The bathroom has frosted glass doors on the shower and the toilet however there was only a sheer curtain separating my bed from the bathtub and the bathroom. For a couple this could be alright, for friends no. Also as a younger person we expected to see more younger people with weddings and such, no not really! Basically is is a romantic couples resort. The room service menu is tiny to say the least. There is only one restaurant open for breakfast, and it's the only one open for lunch besides the bars. So you get tired of it. Everything was great! Bartenders and waitstaff are attentive, drinks aren't wimpy due to all-inclusive nature of hotel. The pool with the swim up bar is definitely the more crowded of the pools, float hogging was in full effect. Restaurants were awesome, the snack stand and jerk chicken guy were a great alternative to sitting down for lunch. Hibachi […] place was so fun, book with Marlon, he's hilarious. We had our Honeymoon at the Secrets St. James. It was gorgeous, the staff was wonderful, and the food was great. We loved the French and Italian restaurants, the breakfast buffet was great, and all the bars were top notch. My only complaint would be the person that drew our rose petal bath had the water so scalding hot that I burned myself when I got […] in. It took almost 2 hours for it to cool down enough to where we could get in it. Also, for a place that likes you to tip, they make it very hard to get change when the ATM only gives 50s. We paid extra to stay in the preferred club, but I wouldn't do it again. In our 10 days there we were only asked for our card once, and people that weren't in there preferred club were using our beach, pool, & buffet anyway. Les mer

This was by far the best vacation me and my husband have taken (we have been to a lot of places). This hotel was top of the line. The room was luxurious.
