Crowne Plaza Hotel Heythrop Park-Oxford - Chipping Norton

Great approach up a long drive raises expectations, and not disappointed with first impressions. Tired after arriving by motorbike, carrying luggage from the car park a little distance away to be met by friendly staff was appreciated. Although somewhat let down by a hard sell for a club card or somesuch (too tired to listen and the details got binned […] immediately). Small room with insufficient room for our luggage was less than expected. Otherwise comfortable and warm, which is just what we needed. Excellent breakfast set us up nicely for another day's riding. The hotel is set in beautiful grounds and the condition of the Crowne Plazza was far superior to that of the original Heythrope Park, however the modern building is completely out of place with the surroundings thus if you are concerned with aesthetics this may not be the hotel for you. Dinner in the Brassey restaurant was excellent and fairly reasonably […] priced but service at breakfast was poor on both mornings. Our only issue with the stay was the service which was not up to the standard of the hotel, and this is definitely not a complaint about the staff who were always polite, but really about poor staff management –the bar manager was rude to a member staff in front of guests and there was clearly a lack of staff training about how to respond to customer requests. We opted for the more modern part of the Crowne Plaza Heythrop Park hotel complex because some reviews of the adjacent old house on TripAdvisor had not been too good but we very much wished we had opted for the house instead - can't vouch for the bedrooms of course but the main rooms were absolutely beautiful - see the Wedgwood room - and had lovely […] views of the park. The modern end was a fairly bland characterless box and our standard room was ok for the price but a bit on the small sde. We used the bar for our evening meal but the barman was more interested in drying glasses than actually serving us. We were patient but finally had to ask him to serve us! Training? On the plus side, the modern side breakfast room was heaving in the morning. very echoey and noisy and the Manager showed us instead to the very peaceful breakfast room in the old house where we had a lovely full English at a window overlooking the fabulous grounds. It will take you about 5 minutes to reach the hotels up the drive! Don't use Hotels.com's drections - they don't make sense - go to the Crowne Plaza website for them. Nice pool, sauna and steam room but note they are on a separate site which is about 5 minutes walk away - luckily for us it wasn't raining! We would stay again but would opt for the old house (which is cheaper anyway!). Very convenient for visiting Blenheim Palace. Les mer

Stayed here as we were visiting Bleinham Palace about 8 miles away. Hotel staff extremely helpful and went out of their way to assist. Rooms large and very well appointed - hotel had a recent refurb a few months ago - very comfortable beds. Beautiful surroundings as was in its own extensive grounds which included a golf course. The only 'picky' criticism […] was that to access the spa you had to walk outside and so it was necessary to dress before going back to your room. Also the pool itself, although a good size, was rather dark and there was little seating to lounge on if you wanted to spend any time in there. Ate in the bar area, food was ok - the restaurant menu looked very good but we wanted to watch the football! Breakfast was usual help yourself buffet. Les mer

Absolutely beautiful hotel and surroundings, we asked for a larger room as the first one was too small as we are travellng for 2 months and a lot of luggage. You may want to check the size of room you are booking. But the stay was a wonderful experience.

beautiful hotel with fabulous surroundings.. i couldnt fault the hotel or staff ..but what i did feel was a complete rip off was the price of breakfast..which was £19.95 per person.. crazy even for a hotel of such high standards.. As a family of 6 it was at a total cost of almost £80 (2 of our children were under 6 and at the waitress discression she […] didnt charge for them).. needless to say we had only breakfast on 1 morning out of the 3 day stay we had.. but it was the inconvience of having to travel 7miles to the nearest village for the next two mornings.. As we have a daughter who has diabetes this put a terrible strain on us all as she has to eat at regular intervals... To be honest this would put me off going back to the hotel again,, pity really as i really loved the hotel etc.. Les mer

The hotel's leisure facilities were superb, the breakfast was excellent, the grounds are beautiful and the area is gorgeous. The rooms were nicely decorated but the family room was very cramped for 4 people

Considering this is a new hotel there are many little niggly things that need urgent attention. We stayed 2 nights and although the room was serviced in the morning the towels were not changed or tidied or left on the shelf in the bathroom and when we returned from being out for the day were still wet. The flannels had completely disappeared and the […] bathroom floor looked as if it had not had a wash in a week! One bedside cabinet was missing - this was replaced and on the second morning we were unable to find the remote control for the tv! We reported this on check out and were told this would be attended to - to be honest it didn't bother us but was a minor nuisance! A very few of the waiters/waitresses were English; they did not try to engage in conversation with us and appeared reluctant to make sure that we had everything we needed. Breakfast on the Sunday morning was disappointing and there was not much left, even though we were not last to arrive by any means! On checkout the issues above were mentioned and I was just told that 'they would pass my comments on'. All in all I think the hotel needs to do some serious staff training - both on the housekeeping side and the waitressing side. The hotel itself is in a beautiful area of the Cotswolds but I would find it hard to justify the price if the service does not improve. On a positive note serving breakfast until 11.30am on the weekend is an excellent idea and not having to check out until 1pm is superb - it means you are not rushing and can enjoy your time at the hotel and the surroundings. Wonderful!! 정말 멋진 호텔이였습니다. 호텔이 얼마나 넓은지 정말 놀라웠고, 그 안에 현대적이고 청결한 시설도 맘에 들었습니다. 물론 조용하고 한적해서 도시속의 최신 호텔과는 조금 다른 느낌이 들었습니다만 그점이 이호텔의 큰 매력이라고 느껴지며, 직원분들도 친절하셨습니다

Gelegen in zeer mooie, en zeer verzorgde, omgeving (golfterrein) met prachtige vergezichten (heuvelachtig). Mooi ingericht hotel. Mooie, modern ingerichte kamers. Mochten iets groter zijn, maar toch. Restaurants kunnen beter. Ontbijtbuffet was slordig. Algemeen zeer goede ervaring.
